Came here on a whim and was very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and presentation.All three of us polished off our plates and were in agreement that the food was very tasty.Service was great and the chefs came out to say hello and to check on the meal - very nice touch.Will be back!

This restaurant was incredible. We ate there 3 nights of our 7 night stay. My favorite dish was the sea bass. It was the best I have ever had. The fish was flaky and very flavorful. It just melted in my mouth. The sauce was amazing, but did not take away from the flavor of the fish. I also had the chicken. The skin was crisp and the meat was tender and moist. The deserts were also fantastic. All homemade. Sue and Bill are fantastic hosts. It felt like family. I will definitely return there on my next vacation.

If I could give this phenomenal restaurant more stars, I would! The food is extraordinary — not just once— but every time, every dish. The food is fresh, seasonal, meticulously presented, and by far the best tasting on the Monterey Peninsula. It’s a family-owned business and each member of the family is welcoming and extremely skilled. You feel like you’re a family member yourself, while at the same time, you’re eating in a Michelin quality establishment. You miss the cuisine of Monterey, if you miss a meal at this incredible restaurant.

What an indiscreet restaurant! The outside decor located in a cookie cutter building definitely doesnt do this place justice! The food was AMAZING! The service was a bit backed up BUT we just happened to be seated right before a table of like 20 showed up. It took a while for dinner to come out but boy was it worth the wait! The servers were great, happy and pleasant, the place was nice and artistic inside, and the food was so so good! Definitely dont let the outside looks fool you, this isnt a pizza joint.

Exceptional family owned and passionate about their menu. Had the most exquisite meal for my birthday last year and they even made a little dish for my dog to enjoy because it was a special occasion. We chatted with the matron of the establishment for a long while and were really made to feel like part of the family. Can’t wait to go back!

Ive eaten here a few times, each time a treat. Most recently I ordered lamb. Unbelievable! The lamb was merely delicious, the sauce was a gastronomic masterpiece! Perfectly balanced and simmered to perfection.I cant remember a more satisfying meal on ANY continent!

Pretty good! Had the half chicken and the butternut squash ravioli. The chicken was absolutely perfect, well seasoned, tender and juicy, sides were great. The butternut ravioli was underwhelming at first but the more I ate it the better it tasted. Maybe just too hot when it came out and needed to cool more before I started. The family that runs the place is so sweet! Dad, mom, kids run just about everything and theyre both personable and pleasant.

Food was exquisite!! I could tell by the preparations and presentations of my group of threes entrees that this place really wanted us to enjoy our dining experience!! Our young server was charming and professional! The atmosphere is perfect other than it being a little cold. Coming out of the mid December evening into a restaurant I want to feel cozy but had to put my jacket back on after 15 minutes. If not for that Id give 5 stars all day!!

My sisters and I met in Monterey for a “sisters” trip and happened upon this gem of a restaurant. The outside does not look like much, however, the second you enter into the restaurant you know you have made a great choice! The food owner/chef is a wonderful woman who gave us her undivided attention and a few good laughs as well! The food was absolutely outstanding from start to finish (homemade butterscotch pudding - YES PLEASE!). The entire experience was perfect!

Food was good, not great. We all ordered vegetarian pastas and they all ran $20-25 per plate. The eggplant appetizer was nothing to write home about, very bland. Soups and salads were nothing special either. Im not sure what the appeal is here. Maybe the meat based dishes were better. I can definitely find better pasta at a better price with soup or salad included in the price.

Taste was one of the best restaurants we’ve been to in Carmel. All of their dishes were delicious and the service was excellent. The only critique I have is on the ambience, but it’s never a dealbreaker when you have great food.I would highly recommend Taste to anybody looking for a fine dining experience that isn’t just worth the money but worth the time.

Stopped here during our recent day outing to Pacific Grove CA.5 star for service and hospitality, but dishes we tried out were a hit or miss.Bread served had a perfect mix of crunchy shell and flaky soft interior.The Eggplant Neapolitan appetizer (with the caramelized onions) was amazing, but fried calamari’s batter was unbearably salty. Will recommend Escargot appetizer, but would prefer them in their shell for the eating experience.Tortellini Florentine had refreshing freshness and didn’t feel heavy despite the creamy sauce. Grilled rabbit was a disappointment only because of the lack of tenderness of the meat (yes, I know it takes efforts to get rabbit meat to be tender 😁). The sauce was delicious and the portion size generous.Will recommend this place, because based on their hospitality I believe that they will improve dishes where they missed the mark.

A gem in Pacific Grove, small family owned restaurant serving 5 star meals. I had the Oak Leaf salad and the Chicken Dijionaise, both were fabulous. Check out the wonderful art work on the ceilings and be sure to chat with the owners. This small restaurant is an absolute must for all, locals and travelers alike, a taste treat and wonderful personal attention to all. Will make this our regular stop every time we are in Pacific Grove.

My husband and I stopped in for dinner tonight and had the most wonderful experience. From the butternut squash soup and Caesar salad, to the rabbit entree, which was spectacular, to the full-flavored butterscotch pudding, the incredible pairing of ingredients and perfectly cooked food made for a wonderful dining experience. And... I cannot leave out the warmth and attentiveness of the owners and staff. Cant wait to make our way back to Pacific Grove for another incredible dining experience!

Great family run restaurant. Went there a few years ago and then again, last week. Still just as delicious even after a few years. The artichoke soup was creamy and delicious. The rabbit entree is really good. We also had the meatball special, even the tomato sauce on its own was very flavorful and the whole dish was great. Definitely worth going to!

We happened across this family-run gem by accident. Everything was delicious. The food was fresh, cooked to perfection, and lovely presentation. I really enjoyed my experience here with my partner this evening. We came in the last hour that they were open, and while it wasn’t so busy it was a very comfortable vibe and we were cared for very well by our kind and attentive waitress.Our food was wonderful, we had the calamari and I enjoyed the grass-fed burger while she had the eggplant sandwich, both were very flavorful. I had the Oxford Landing Australian Cab wine which was smooth, light for a cab in a refreshing way, and very delicious.I look forward to coming back here and trying more items on the menu. My favorite part was the family vibe and the partnership between the waitress and chef as husband and wife. The kitchen is also gorgeous with a stainless steel cooking area and beautifully displayed authentic copper pans. We can’t wait to be back, come and treat yourself!

We have been coming to this place for 20+ years now but haven’t been in over a year now due to COVID and the food is as amazing amazing as it always has been! The service and the people are also so friendly and wonderful. Tonight we had the butternut squash soup, lamb filets, chicken Dijonaise, veal medallions, and meatballs with spaghetti, and each was as delicious as the other. For dessert we had the chocolate torte, which was so amazingly light and delicious and chocolate mousse which was as delicious as always.

The most Awesome restaurant in Monterey county. Family owned and run 25 years. Lovely and classical atmosphere. The Chef and soue chef are father and son. Most delicious, gorgeous dishes served. My fiancee and I had appetizers, classic meals and dessert. All perfection.. We were served by owner Susan, and daughter Noor. Most gracious, beautiful ladies. Guests are treated like royalty. Sue even remembered me from a few years ago. My favorite is the rabbit. Ive eaten at this lovely bistro many times throughout the years and never been disappointed. Calamari was the BEST!!! Sandwich and desert superb! 5 star quality. Totally surprised us. Weve had calamari from the four corners of the U.S. and much in between. Its a thing with us. Yes, Ive had sauce I liked better like the pepper jelly from Josey Joes near Charleston SC. It was fine but the calamari simply set the bar at its highest. Great place, great people. Bring a coat! The restaurant was colder than the parking lot. Everyone inside wore winter coats, except for the staff. Maybe they had acclimated?The restroom smelled like a sewer- maybe an unintended side effect of the “no flushing toilet paper” policy tacked on the bathroom wall in laminated authority.An uncertain server brought our table a small plate of bread and then disappeared. The bread was good! The highlight of the evening.After 25 minutes of waiting for the slightest evidence that the restaurant staff indeed on serving us or even approaching wave-down distance from the table, we left a cash tip for the bread and went to a different restaurant.Overall: this restaurant was a cold, hungry, empty episode of my life. If you decide to go - I hope you have a better experience. Let me know how the $19.00 burger tasted ($21.50 if you’re partial to cheese).

I have driven by this little restaurant for a long time, & didnt think much of it, tell I went there tonight with my friend Carrol. When you walk in your are greeted by the owner Sue. You are taken back it Italy, the walls, the decor, the bar, all so very Quant.The food was excellent, we were totally taken care of. The Chief came around to check on our services & dinner. This restaurant is extraordinarily expensive, with the average dinner costing more than $40. The chef is completely untrained, and he uses only frozen (never fresh) meat, as well as a bunch of other random ingredients like spinach leaves and rotten beets! Please, save yourself a truly negative (and costly) experience, and eat at any one of the other fine dining establishments along Forest Avenue!!! This place is what happens when someone who ONLY cares about squeezing as much money out of patrons as humanly possible is allowed to buy a restaurant. The menu is interesting, beautifully presented and delicious. The servers and owners were welcoming and interested yet not intrusive. We had three small children, two teens and 7 adults. Everyone was pleased with their meals. Whats more we were able to enjoy conversations around the seating that accommodated our group of 12. The menu encourages us to return.

I east almost everything except cow tongue. LOLI dont skimp I alway have appetizer then a salad and an entree. Not heavy or salty or garlicky. It was very tasty I do prefer a bit of garlic but that is personal taste.I then had a very fresh Cesar salad but not soaking in dressing which is great. I could have asked for more dressing if I wantedDinner well I never had rabbits and explained that I would like to try it and since I eat almost everything I wouldnt feel bad if I didnt like it. But this is where Sue our server stood way out. She very well explained the differant taste and very nicely said if I didnt like it to tell her right away and she would get me something else. Not that was a very amazing offer but I couldnt go wrong.So then the end of the story I liked everything they servedThe big question youre all looking for is yes I will go back again to see if I get the same wonderful service and food that I had before. I would also try other things on the menu.We all have our own personal tastes so I would feel comfortable to ask for a special spice or different twist on something they serve.Will see next time .. Taste Bistro is a fun and relaxed environment suitable for our date nights out as well as time together with friends and family.My wife surprised me last night with a 55th birthday party at Taste. The food was amazing and incredible kitchen and wait staff handled our large party with a level of service difficult to find anywhere these days. The Karaki family, owners of the Bistro, not only offer a menu and level of service paralleled by few but they also have this unique way of making you feel like you are one of the family when you visit. If we could make any suggestion it would be to not change a thing!

Taste Bistro is one of our favorite restaurants in Monterey. We live in the area, and we have visit most of the top rated restaurants in the Monterey Peninsula.The special of the day is usually a fresh caught fish with an excellent oak leaf salad. Last night we both ordered the divine salmon cooked in parchment paper, also filled with delicious vegetables, the very large piece of fresh wild salmon was so moist from being steamed in the parchment paper, then there was also a ramekin of beurre blanc to pour over everything. They accosted me as I entered into the door to attempt to use the public toilet.. Before they knew if I was a customer or not they immediately assumed and told me I couldnt use the restroom, now most assuredly I will never be a client of theirs. This is horrible customer service🤕🤕🤕🤕

I worked there and I left there and the chef got a little angry with me but thats not because Im speaking badly about the restaurant, I just didnt like working there... well, the food is all fresh, the chef and the employees prepare and They cook the food as it should, everything is fresh and they are very inventive with all the food. It is a good place to eat with the family or with your partner.
