2023-07-20 05:23:29We were strolling La Jolla enjoying the wonderful weather after we watched the seals and sea lions. The original restaurant we hoped to visit was closed. Walking back toward our car, we read the Taste of the Himalaya’s menu posted outside and decided to dine in.We had wonderful service from entering the front patio, and was given a table outside with lovely views. Our order: the mixed tandoori, chicken makhani, and the garlic naan.We ordered medium level spiciness (4), and food was brought promptly to the table as it was ready. It was a lovely and delicious meal, we finished everything. Being able to share the dishes, we were satisfied with the portion sizes.

2023-06-20 03:56:27I want to give an honest review of the restaurant. The food was undeniably delicious, full of flavor and executed with skill. The male host/waiter was polite and very nice. The food came out in a normal time frame. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala. The portions were quite small for the price point. There were only maybe 4oz of cubed pieces of chicken! Thats not enough… really. Despite this small critique, I still recommend trying out their cuisine.

2023-06-06 07:57:38This location is right in the area of many other choices. The restaurant has a patio area and an indoor dining space. The outdoor tables are stained but outdoor space is bound to have its drawbacks. The food tastes more Indian than Himalayan. The portion sizes are small but thats also reflected in the prices. The flavors are good and the rice is well cooked.

2023-05-02 05:21:46Super excited to have found this restaurant just minutes away from my hotel in La Jolla. Such a charming location, but just got a huge dose of disappointment in terms of food and the way this place is managed. Really feel bad leaving this kind of review but had no choice. Dear “ Taste of the Himalayas” management team, please consider giving some Nepalese/Himalayan hospitality to the customers. I could see and clearly hear the customers complaining about service and food in Hindi while I waited for my Momos! To be honest, Mixed Momos were pretty average for the price and Dal soup was just watery at its best. This place could be a gem in making if managed properly! At this point it’s just a disappointment!

2023-11-26 20:46:47Service left much to be desired, at times it felt like we were being straight up ignored. HOWEVER this was hands down some of the best Indian/Nepalese food weve ever had. Some joints will give you a curry bowl with like 4 pieces of chicken - not here. You get delicious curry, bursting with flavor and packed with juicy chicken breast. The curries were amazing and naan was fresh and delicious. On food alone Id give it 5 stars, maybe we were just there on an off day. Would definitely return.

2023-02-11 03:43:26The only good thing here is the view. The claim that they were the best voted restaurant in 2017 2018 2019 2021 …but definitely they aren not the best or even average in 2023May be they change the cook. I am not sure. The portion size of palak paneer was very small and the gravy was mediocre.Tandoori chicken tasted very bland and tasteless. This is the first time in my life that I couldn’t even eat the tandoori chicken when I was hungry.Only good thing here is the view of the water. There are mutiple taste of the Himalayas location in San Diego. And we have had very tasty food at other locations. Not going again to this one.We shouldn’t have come here. Since it was Friday evening and there was no one there.

2023-12-09 03:39:52Momo was good, but the rice for Tikka masala was probably 3 days old and got like 4 cubes of chicken. I felt I was in Nepali highway restaurant because of all those gnats. With prices like that, you guys need to do better.

2021-03-30 02:31:59Each item is expertly cooked to order! Dining at Taste of The Himalayas was a unique and tasty treat! The owner Savant and partner Melissa were stellar, working side by side to insure the best dining experience for every guest attending during my visit there. Staffing was short, however for the quality of the food it is a MUST visit for anyone who appreciates authentic Himalayan and vegan dishes. I was immersed with the scents of Himalayan/Tibetan spices and a friendly, homelike feel that set me immediately at ease. The outside of the restaurant has the appearance of an organic family based business. The personal attention given to each diner was quite impressive as the pair, along with a bevy of cooks in the kitchen, hustled to fill to go and online orders but not too busy to see to the needs of the in-house and outside guests.I will definitely make a return visit when in La Jolla!

2023-04-12 07:43:07In close proximity to La Jolla Cove, there exists a charming and petite Nepali/Indian eatery that presents a delectable selection of culinary delights. The service provided at this establishment is both expeditious and satisfactory, ensuring a pleasant dining experience for its patrons.
