My first visit here after reading a lot of good reviews and a very long craving for a good biryani.We ordered karahi chicken, chicken biryani and garlic naan.The karahi was good, tender chicken and spices were nice, a bit oily but i guess thats what cooks it .Biryani was something that disappointed me completely, maybe a wrong batch or something but the rice wasnt complimenting the chicken, the taste was raw and it didnt taste like a biryani at all .I would love to try it again sometime and give it another shot.The naans are great, goes perfectly with the karahi .

I live about an hour and a half away from this place and was in Woodland Hills for work. I wanted Pakistani food for lunch today so I googled some places and found this one - I am so glad I did. Everything I ordered was delicious and I loved how spicy It was. I have a favorite restaurant for Pakistani food, but I think this place is now number one for me. It is definitely worth the drive :)

This has the best Pakistani food in the San Fernando valley. The atmosphere is no too pleasing with menus on the table underneath the glass on the table. The food is very delicious but lacks table service, as the servers are not trained waiters or waitresses who sometimes do not understand English. The owner is very friendly.

Went back to this new location after many years. Inside of this new location looks more like a cafeteria than a restaurant. Now you have to place order before you take a seat thru the online system they have set up at the counter-- kind of like Mc Donalds. I didnt think it was really a cool thing, but then, its my opinion. Now the food experience was not very exciting!!! We ordered bihari kabab-- they brought a pinkish, unusual looking over melted meat plate which didnt have any flavor or texture. Our chicken reshmi kabab was even more disappointing -- it was nothing but a dry chicken boti without any flavors of any kind. Theres no way it looked or tasted anything like reshmi kabab. Daal and paya were not so bad. But the best part was the Naan bread. It was fresh and thick nothing like the indian restaurants cheap cracker thin tasteless pieces of baked dough. I simply loved the naan bread here. As far as the service goes, although it was kinda slow but they were friendly and helpful without any attitude.

If anyone is really food & taste lover or conscious, must come Tawakkal restaurant and after that you will feel how delicious taste this restaurant has. I had a terrible experience at Tawakal Halal Tandoori Restaurant and I would strongly advise anyone to avoid this place. The food is extremely oily and of very low quality. The nihari and kadai gosht were particularly disappointing. The eggplant was okay, but not good enough to make up for the other terrible dishes.To make matters worse, the nihari barely had any meat and was watered down. It was obvious that the restaurant was trying to cut corners and save money by skimping on the ingredients. The food was simply unacceptable and I couldnt believe how poor the quality was.But the worst part of my experience was how creepy the owner was towards female patrons. The owner is very condescending if youre a female. Ive noticed how he treats the female customers and how he speaks to them. He also just stares at women which made me feel very uncomfortable.The bathrooms were also disgustingly dirty and unsanitary. It was clear that they had not been cleaned in a very long time. It was honestly the worst bathroom Ive ever seen in a restaurant.To top it all off, the customer service was non-existent. The wait staff was a reflection of the owner, they were rude and unprofessional. If the owner doesnt care about his customers, then why would the waiters care? It was a terrible experience and I regret paying any money for the meal.Overall, I would never recommend Tawakal Halal Tandoori Restaurant to anyone friend or foe. The food was terrible, the owner was creepy, the bathrooms were dirty, and the customer service was non-existent. Stay away from this place at all costs. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else for your Pakistani cuisine fix.

Alert : strictly avoid going here.We are here for a dinner and holy cow the food smells fishy and the quality of the service is poor.The ambience is worst and if you want to enjoy your dinner here it will be worst thing.Kadai chicken they served, I see the oil instead of chicken and the chef doesnt even know they need to take the oil out.Now coming to the price, they charge 30 bucks for a buffet. You can spend this money in chickfila and you can have it for the whole family.

I grew up eating Biryani and I know how a biryani is cooked. I ordered lamb biryani and all they did was mixed lamb curry and white rice. It wasn’t even the rice that is typically used for biryani. And I was charged $1 more than what is listed in the website. Disappointed… I checked the reviews and the biryani pictures that were posted by customers. The biryani offered to me was nothing closer to what other customers posted with 5 stars. Never go to this place. They forget that customers must be served with good food to keep customers.....

Horrible food and horrible service. We got mutton biriyani FULL TRAY for $80. came home and tried the food and it was horrible and completely gone bad. I called them and Informed them, and they didnt Care at all and kept saying biriyani is fresh again and again no matter what I said. Never got the money back and never got a food replacement. Employees kept saying many people tried the same biriyani the exact day and no one complained, meanwhile me and my family of 7 tried the food and not a single person ate the food because it was gone completely gone bad. It was full of salt and sour. Every bite was completely sour, and I had to spit out the food and was completely drenched in salt....top of all this, the $80 tray had barely any mutton meat. Like I said, when I called them and asked for refund or atleast a replacement for the food, they were very rude and didnt even make any comment other than biriyani is fresh. Not only horrible food, but horrible service. I didnt eat the food and nor did I get my $80 back and my entire family didnt ear anything for dinner that day since the food was bad. Service is horrible. They keep getting the order wrong again and again, at different occasions. I asked biriyani to go, they charged me for it and never gave biriyani and came home and checked the bag I dont see biriyani. They also charged me for a lot of chicken Tikka and other items I never even asked. Their service is super bad. Many times they have also gives us old biriyani heated thats old. Food honestly tastes good but also very expensive. Chicken Tikka Masala costs $12 and if u ask that to go they give it to u in a extremely small container. For that size they should charge u around $8. Service is overall really bad, food is good but just know its expensive. Always eat inside and never ask to go since they keep getting the order wrong, over charging and also give orders in small quantity like chicken Tikka Masala when u ask to go.

I visited this place nearly six years after. They were located in Chatsworth earlier. The tastiness hasn’t changed at all. Consistency is the key. The biryani is magnificent, salty, spicy, tangy and well cooked. The chicken curry with Serrano chillies and nan is crispy and fresh. Could not enjoy indoor dining due to the current pandemic.

So we all know the food is great. That is why they get 2 stars. But the food can only do so much to make up for the lack of service. The owner is completely useless. And the wait staff is a reflection of the owner. If he doesnt care about his customers, then why would the waiters care? Came in the place a to go order this afternoon. Was told it would take 45 minutes. Seemed long, but went with it. Went and got groceries while the food was being made. Called about 30 minutes after I left to add one more naan to the order. When I called, on the background you could hear the owner telling the waitress that they didnt have one of the items that I ordered. It would have been nice to know that when I placed the order. So I ordered something else to replace it. Came back after 45 minutes and food was not ready. We waited another 30 minutes before our order was ready. While we were waiting, there was another gentleman who was there when we originally got there. He got his food as we were returning. After a couple minutes he got up and asked for the owner. He told the owner that he sat down almost an hour ago, just got his food, and the order was wrong so he was leaving and would never be back. The owner could care less. I guess the best way to go is to place an order over the phone, verify they have everything that you are ordering, pick it up an hour after you call, and eat it at home. Just minimize human contact as much as possible.

Ive been eating here since when they were located in Devonshire Street. While the menu isnt extensive, the food is generally very good. Tawakal Tandoori serves Pakistani cuisine and is of course, halal. Personally, I prefer the lamb biryani among their dishes. Their naan is okay, not outstanding. Prices are reasonable, but have been raised since moving to the new location on Roscoe Blvd. I was hoping the menu might be expanded, but it turns out only the prices were. On another note: while I believe the owner means well, he could make an effort to be more personable with customers, especially repeat customers.

The owner has made several substantial changes to the restaurant that warrant upgrading my review to four stars. The store and the tables/chairs have been upgraded at long last! Most notably, the bathroom is no longer a death trap, the flooring is tiled and the tables dont have sharp, slippery, and jagged-edged glass tops. Since the location has expanded in size, your walk to the bathroom will take you by the restaurantss supply room rather than the kitchen. All of these are necessary improvements.Another major change has been in the staffing. In the past, Ive come a half hour before closing and been shooed away by the staff if the owner isnt there. Thats no good. I think the new staff may help fix that problem. Still, at this point I always call right before I leave and give the owner my ETA. Otherwise, you might arrive at 8:30 on a slow day to find the place closed.Food portions have have gotten slightly smaller, but theyre still phenomenally delicious!

I have heard a lot of great things about this place from my friends in the valley and decided to give it a try and drove all the way from Manhattan beach.We ordered a naan, karahi gosht and chicken biryani. To be honest, I was not impressed by the taste of their food as it wasnt no where comparable to the other indian/pakistani food joints around south bay or in LA.I would rate the naan and the karahi gosht at a 4 but the chicken biryani was something I did not care much for. The rice as you could see in the picture I posted can find the chunks of white rice is still not mixed well. The meat was chewy and extremely dry.Overall very average food and ambience and I would not go back to eat, hence I would rate it at a 3 star.

Try to avoid it. They will F... up your mood and food excitement. The servers have no manners on how to deal with people. The lady had us wait for 20 minutes just to take the order. Then a guy brings plastic glasses from the kitchen for us to drink and some dirty water in a jug. The glasses were smelling bad, I requested the guy to wash it. He was so arrogant to answer. Then said its washed already. I said please wash again. He took the glasses and from inside the kitchen he screamed and showed me the whole tray of glasses and screamed its washed, see its washed... I was with my family and had to leave immediately after this kind of aggressive behavior. Stay away!

The people here including the owner do not care about their long time customers. It seems that success has gotten to their heads. Our order was not taken correctly. Despite our instructions to add less spice, our food turned out to be very very spicy. Food was not prepared fresh. One item ordered was missing. What this location lacks in general decor and ambiance, it more than makes up in flavor. We were looking for a ‘different’ Indian restaurant to try in the west San Fernando Valley, and ended up at Tawakal, which was really Pakistani (which, from my layman’s perspective is a fusion of Indian with Persian influences). Whatever the origins, the food was delicious. I tried the Chicken Tikka Masala, which was unlike any I had ever had, but was great. My wife and I shared the spinach and dal, both of which were outstanding and even the naan was something special. The owner, who is also the chef is kind and took the time to talk about his food and food in general. A truly unexpected experience.

This is totally ghetto. Lacks decorations. Fake wood tiles add to this effect. Going to the bathroom was interesting - which was in the back and the walk way was full with big dekchas (a good sign). Surprisingly, the bathroom was clean. The guy in the front with the beard was super nice and conscience. The food was out of this world. Great! The service is Great! The serving time was Great! The naan was better than any naan I have ever had! If you are looking for good food, this is it. If you are looking for ambiance, try something else!

Tawakkal Tandoori was a pleasant surprise to us. We go to LA from Santa Barbara every weekend to eat desi food. As a result, we have found some good restaurants.Tawakkal is at the top of our list as of nowNaans: Silky, fluffy and tasty. One of the best. Other is Biryani Kabob House in LA with similar nans. It is rare to find great naans in LA.Seekh Kababs: Almost like Wahids kabab in Burns Road,Karachi. Tawakal offers best option in valley for indo-pakistani mughlai dishes. Every dish served is delicious. They now have a bigger location with a party room for 85 guests. Some cosmetic work is still going on but they should be finishing it soon. The owner Abdul gives personal attention to each customer. Check it out.

Honestley at first i was not to happy with my experience mostly because the food took a while but the next time i went it was great.The food was the best i have had so far and i dont waiting that long anymore because the food quality and taste is over the top the only suggest i would have is to call in and order on the way so you dont have to wait so long.But besides that it is a great place espacialy they moved to a new location and it is beutiful.Their hall is very nice and ive planned a sinner of 50 people at the hall and abdul qodus gave me everything i needed even they changed the theme of the tables for me overall very happy.
