What a gem! The Unagidon is so tender and delicious. Fish in the Sashimi plate is very fresh. The vegetable tempura is 9/10. We also had Ikura and it’s yummy too. We will definitely come back for more date nights.

Delightfully surprised by this delicious gem! Great rolls, enjoyed the crunchy unagi and salmon on crispy rice, the chicken tempura was great too! Would definitely come back again!

Our server Samuel was very sincere in helping us. The sushi was very good. I felt the freshness in their product. The ramen, was good, but there wasnt anything particularly special about it. The atmosphere was great.

Great little spot! Family owned and the music was great! Sushi was excellent! Sweet potato tempura was not made with traditional American sweet potatoes and was not cooked all the way (should have been sliced thinner), but otherwise a great place!

Great sushi spot! Not big on sushi but I think this place just sold me on it. They offered some distinct flavors that I haven’t had at other sushi places. Woulda been a 5 but the assistant sushi chef blabbed to the other the whole time while we sat at the bar. Or just don’t sit at the bar😑

This place is good. The salad was tasty and they have a good deal on combos.-Chicken tempura was cooked perfectly, tender chicken. Wish they had flavorful sauces to go with it.-Spicy tuna is flavorful.-Miso soup is good as well.Over all this is a good spot for a meal.

Super super super yummy! I am actually glad the restaurant down a few doors turned us away and we ended up at this fabulous diamond hiding in the rough. The owner (Joe- in English spelling) is absolutely preparing magic! The sauces, the dressing, the garlic edamame..for criminal sakes it should be available by the gallons! I tried, like many before me, to get a container of sauce or dressing so I could possibly just eat it by the spoonful at home! The seafood was so fresh and perfect, the service quick and friendly, and the garlic edamame is seriously to die for! We just found our favorite Japanese place in Cali! We do love our Japanese Steakhouse meals, but this place...wow..just wow! I am positive every meal is gonna be heavenly 🙌

Coming from someone who’s been to Japan a few times, ten Japan definitely recreates the feeling of what a real authentic Japanese restaurant is. Most restaurants in Japan are small hole in the wall spots like this which makes the ambiance so much better. The sushi and ramen is really good! I always look foward to eating at this place because it makes me feel like I’m back in Japan. Definitely a hidden gem here in gilroy for Japanese food

Was recommended by a Japanese friend saying it’s the best Japanese restaurant in the Gilroy-Hollister area. And it wasn’t a disappointment. Food is freshly made with quality and authentic ingredients. The wasabi could have been alittle better. Service was good for a late Saturday lunch. Will for sure come back.

This was my first time trying this restaurant and the food is amazing and very beautifully presented even as a to-go meal. My food came with a complimentary flower and two different mild flavorful sauces along with the basics. Also brief but wonderful costumer service. Will definitely be coming back, looking forward to trying the rest of the rolls they offer.I got the butterfly roll, the spicy spider roll, and the deep fry roll.

Great find. Had a bit of four rolls and enjoyed each. Ingredients were flavorful the fish was fresh. We arrived about one hour before closing and never felt rushed or like we were being an inconvenience.The only downside is the lack of seating. We often have large parties and to seat us all would be difficult.I recommend this place and recommend that you call ahead, especially for larger parties.

First time here, will not be the last!Me and my wife wanted to get dinner but didnt want to go all the way across town, so we checked Google maps, and we found this place.First impression when walking in is that it is a small place, but once sitting down you begin to like the small atmosphere, the wait staff was very kind, and the food was amazing 😍We got a miso soup, ramen, a California roll, and a cucumber roll. The ramen was really delicious, and the California roll was the best I have had since 2005!

We went yesterday Saturday around 2 pm.We are not from the area so we check the reviews and decided to try.EVERYTHING WE ORDER WAS DELICIOUS!The Miso soup with mushrooms, plenty of mushrooms actually, was so good!Also we tried a Tempura Roll, another called Crispy roll, and Shrimp tempura.Also, the server and Chefs very friendly!We qill definitely coming back.

This place is just amazing! The sushi is always fresh! The quality is always good! The reason I like this place over ninja or any other is the simple fact that they down load up the rolls with tons of rice like ninja does when all you taste is rice. At ten its lightly rolled so you can taste the flavor of the fish! I can go on but try it yourself. Always great!

Maybe I am being tough since I just left Vancouver Canada but this sashimi is 2 out of 10. I am mean farmed fish that is all fat and very little orange meat. Anyway I would never come back. Then again I am not sure what it is like in California but the ocean is close by.

Delicious, and authentic! Everything on the menu is well prepared and delightfully presented. This is a rare find for Gilroy and truly should be experienced for the tasty and very good Japanese food in an affordable setting. A true gem that would really fit in in trendy West LA or San Francisco neighborhoods. Lunch and Dinner both good and seasonal offerings.

Fantastic Sushi! Traditional in its approach to perfection, they have a few rolls on the menu that I have not seen in other locations. The creativity of the owner creates a delightful experience which has me ordering different rolls just to give them a try. This is a smaller location, so go early if you can as the tables fill up fast.

Suprising atmosphere! Its actually really nice in here! The rolls are very tasty and not your standard roll. However, they are a bit pricey for what you get. The front chefs are very quick and the service was excellent. Ill be back for more!

It was okay, family of 5 went here, service was average, they didnt have any hot beverages to have with dinner, so we drank water, with sushi... we had 3 children with us, so the alcohol wasnt an option either. The ginger was dry and rubbery, and we definitely didnt feel like we got much, we spent around $150 and felt neglected and still hungry.

Took my mom here for her birthday tonight as a party of six including my 3 year old niece. It is an intimate space soft lighting. The staff was welcoming. Its great place for a paced dinner but everything came out in good time. Reasonably priced. The rolls arent 90% rice either so no rice bloat. My mom who is not a big sushi eater enjoyed everything she tried. The ramen was good too. My niece was really about the tempura shrimp and a plain bowl of ramen noodles. 10/10 will go again. Also this is the second place i ever ate sushi were i didnt feel a need for soy sauce because the rolls were so flavorful.

O this is a weird post for me giving it a one, due to the fact this restaurant has pretty good food. If I was just rating the food Id give it a 4 star. Sushi is good, dumplings are good and they have good variety. Reason for the rating is I agree with other reviewers that it is a bit pricey. My main problem is they are never open! We live right around the corner and have tried to go 3 different times during their business hours and they are either closed, or theres people in there eating and we were turned away. The last time we went we walked in and waited to be seated. When we went in the place was packed but there wasnt a wait. The server came up to us and said they were closed. My husband got so mad he just immediately walked out, and I stood there confused while the waiter apologized. According to their sign on the door they closed at 9:00pm, and it was only 8:10pm. As I said there was a ton of people in there eating, so I got the impression they just didnt want to serve us in case it went past their closing time. If thats the case they need to close at 8 and lock their doors. We had been two other times before this where the sign on the door said they should be open but they were closed. So as I started this review my opinion of the food was from a carry out order we had once. Since then all 3 times we tried going during hours and were turned away or they were closed. Not sure how thats good business, so because of that we stopped trying to give them our business.

If you are Sushi lover, I recommend Ten Japanese Restaurant. The way sushi chefs slice the fish and pack it on rice is same as traditional Japanese sushi restaurants in Japan. Ten’s sushi has the details of flavor and texture. I enjoyed my sushi lunch. At next visit, I want to order Ramen noodle. Thank you for sushi chefs and server’s team work.

The food is always good here. We havent had any issues with it, the fish seems fresh and the ramen is very tasty. We love that its so close to our house, but the owner is a bit... Stingy? The basic rolls are crazy expensive. $8.50 for a simple tekka maki (tuna roll)! They have a combination that includes a spicy tuna roll ($8.50 also) and when I asked to get a regular tuna roll, the owner said no. I even asked to pay more, still no. Talk about customer satisfaction being a low priority :-/ We will go back, but not nearly as much as we would if these issues werent so prominent in our experiences.

Ive read only one or two scathing reports about this restaurant, but I think its one of the very best you can find. I am married to a Japanese national and I eat Japanese food all the time. I can tell you this cuisine is authentic and is very good. Some people will give a one star assessment because no one refilled their glass of water. Thats ridiculous, and readers should consider the source. Whenever we travel from San Luis Obispo to SF, we always stop at Ten Japan and have never been disappointed.

So the food was well done. I genuinely enjoyed my meal which was a combo. Salmon teriyaki was fresh and crispy, tempura was airy and light. My boyfriends food was just as good. The Takoyaki was something that reminded my boyfriend of his visits to Japan and was very authentic. Having a place that can offer such authentic unique Japanese cuisine is admirable in little old Gilroy. But this place with a blessed sushi chef team and wonderful chef in the back is all over shadowed by my poor exlerience.The service was so bad here that it is more than enough to never come back.If youre the type that does not care if you and your dates food comes at two separate times within 10 minute intervals, you dont mind never being greeted or given a menu until its notice much later. And your just laid back enough to ignore it all. And you might have a good dining experience here. I will stick to Ninja Sushi.

My husband and I are huge sushi fans, weve been to many places, including in Japan, and even sushi restaurants in the Tsukiji Market area. Since we moved to Gilroy, weve discovered Ten Japan satisfies us very well because it is a combination of authentic sushi and fusion. You can choose to have traditional pieces or fusion ones.Unfortunately it closed recently for renovations. I think theyre adding a sushi bar?
