Super tasty lunch spot open on a Monday. Do not sleep on the noodles — so good! Did a veggie option, and they were able to accommodate and make it non-spicy. Vibey relaxed atmosphere and my partner enjoyed the coconut chicken as well.

Went here for a quick weekday lunch with a friend and it was such a delight. we had the peashoot salad (so simple yet refreshing) and the spicy noodles with shrimp (so fresh) and a side of roti (SO buttery). everything was delicious and the staff were great. would definitely come back!

I really like every dish I ordered. The pea sprout salad is light and perfectly balanced. The roti curry sauce is the best in its kind. The other 2 dishes also have masterfully blended sauces. A solid 5 star with no doubt. Will definitely go back.

I picked up my pal Fortnoy Leer up on Broadway Terrace where he has his summer house, and we went to the Teni East Kitchen for some Asian Fusion dishes. Fortnoy told me about a new commuter turboprop his company is building that will be quite the scream...his words, not mine, but I let it slide because hes Canadian.Teni East Kitchen sure puts out some fabulous food, the Char Siu Potstickers were amazing. Pea shoot salad (3.75 out of 5): The menu said this is Tenis signature salad. For what it is, its good, with light fresh pea shoots and a light dressing. But since in general I love Tea Leaf salads, I would probably not pass it up for pea shoots next time. I generally like robust salads with everything but the kitchen sink in it. The pea shoots is more of a light and fresh salad.Chick pea tofu (4.5 out of 5): Really rich and creamy curry with soft chickpea tofu.Roti with curry (5 out of 5): GET THIS. And eat it while its hot. The roti is warm fluffy and flakey, and the curry it comes with is really really good.Pork belly (4 out of 5): Reminds me of mongolian beef. Pork belly in a sweet shoyu glaze sauce, really good, but maybe a tad too salty.Fried catfish (3.5 out of 5): Conflicted. The catfish and batter were great, and Ive never had such tender catfish. But the mix of spices they use for the batter just was a bit funky.

This place is awesome! Great atmosphere, delicious food, vegan and gluten free options. The Roti is some of the best Ive ever had (vegan, not gluten free). Drinks were on point. Will be coming here more often from now own. No patio seating/no dogs.

The vegetable coconut curry was delicious. So were the Teni noodles! The only (mild) complaint was that there wasn’t a lot of chicken in the noodles. Regardless, delicious. The food was heavy but I couldn’t stop eating. There were so many other things on the menu that I wished I could have ordered! I hope to go back.There was also live music and a generally nice ambience.

Great place great food. Loved the ginger mango lassi.. very fresh and yummy. We’re vegetarian food was good. We could get good vegetarian options. We overall liked the place. Ambience is good. The food here was excellent but the service here was OUTSTANDING! It was a very positive experience. When we showed up the restaurant was a bit empty but filled up fast. By 7:30pm the entire place was packed and had a line. They serve ice cream (in cones) for dessert. YUM!

I want to love this place, but I am only mostly into it.Solid food, but it’s quite expensive for the portion sizes.The roti is so tasty and unlike other roti I’ve had. The curry sauce they serve it with is so so good. This was the best thing we had. The $12 appetizer comes with just one roti though and a small bowl of dipping curry. I feel they should include two for the price.The catfish was freshly fried and quite tasty but definitely very spicy. I wish it had more of the tamarind flavor. There are no sides served with this entree, despite costing $15-18 (can’t remember exactly).The noodles are also super spicy. I felt they were also lacking flavor and trying to make up for it in spice. I like spicy food, but was just unimpressed with the balance here. Again, it seemed expensive for the amount of noodle you receive.The restaurant space is large and feels like upscale cocktail bar in an impersonal and empty way. This restaurant is too bright and doesn’t feel cozy at all. They’re trying to be an upscale cocktail bar but coming off as upscale cafeteria.Not a bad spot, but I probably won’t be back. If the total for an app and two entrees was closer to $35, I’d eat here again. For $70 (with tax and tip) this doesn’t work well for me unfortunately.

I really enjoyed their tealeaf salad with kale, like it much better than the romaine Burma Superstar uses, more flavor, as the tea leaves and lime really coat the leaves. The cocktails were also a treat, and the spicy catfish, even though I will next time ask for extra sauce on the side. I like that the menu had dietary restrictions clearly marked so my mouth wasnt watering over something I couldnt eat. The only thing that was disappointing to me but my lunch mate liked was the noodles. It said fried fat noodles so I thought it would be dry and flavorful more like Thai Pad Ke mao (so?) But instead it was soft and soupy, yellow w curry heavy on sesame oil. But lots of folks like that kind of thing just not my jam. Overall good meal, good service and surprisingly good cocktails served in super cute glasses.

The food here is top-notch. We had the deep fried crispy catfish and curry chicken. The coconut rice was delicious. I found the coconut rice a tad too sweet, but pairing it with the curry chicken and washing all that down with some chardonnay was just absolutely blissful. The ambience is nice, I like the industrial style, exposed wood/brick look. The art design on the walls are also very calming. The staff is friendly. Really cool spot with fantastic food.

Good food but won’t return. We had great service and great food our first visit and allowed us to bring our service dog, thinking that would be the case today we were surprised when we were turned away at the door. If you have a policy allowing service animals, it would be wonderful if all staff were on board and made aware. Really unfortunate!

We were originally planning to go to another local Burmese restaurant but when we found out they were out of their tea leaf salad, we scrambled to find another place that would have it and we are so glad we did!!! The service was good and the food was phenomenal, except for the catfish. The catfish was incredibly disappointing and underwhelming. It was 3 small strips of catfish coated and fried with a light sauce on top. It was the most expensive plate we bought, but I could have gotten a larger portion and more flavor from a fish fry place for less money. Hell, to be honest, for the $23 charge for the 3 little catfish sticks here, I could have gotten a whole catfish meal with 5 large filets of catfish, French fries, and a soda from a fish fry place!The peashoot salad was delightful! The chickpea and tofu was incredible! The roti... the roti was dammed near perfect! We also got a chicken plate that was really good, but I forgot what it was called! All together, I think we got like 6 different plates, 2 bowls of coconut rice, 2 orders of roti and drinks.Again, everything was definitely worth our time and money, except for the catfish.

So they subbed out my brown rice for some sort of sweet dessert rice. Not really a big deal. But the portions were mean for the money. And the cumin chicken was dry. And the Burmese tofu was bizarre. There was something in there that was amped up to 11. It was just unpleasant. I mean, I havent had Burmese food in Burma, but Ive had it *near* Burma, cooked by a Burmese chef. This wasnt it. One star for the good roti (including the one with ice cream). One because my wife liked it.

Surprised this place is not busier. The food is as good as Burma Superstar and the service is great. Loved the tea leaf salad - plenty of tea leaves and a nice spice level. We also got the basil cumin shrimp which was very good. Our only note is that everything was fairly hot, anyone who struggles with spicy food beware!

Tasty food with modern ambiance. I had the spicy noodles with shrimp. They were able to make it mild. It still packed a bit of a punch, the spice kind of builds up as you eat. Glad I also got a Thai ice tea to wash it down. The noodles and peas sprout side salad both were well spiced. Id definitely come back for more.

The kale in the tea leaf salad was a good idea, though its really small for the price, and I wish it had the fried spit pea things Ive had other places as the variety of crunch is the second best thing about tea leaf salad. Excellent food! I cannot praise the shrimp more! Very well seasoned sauce, fills every nook and cranny of the shrimp! Goes very well with their coconut rice. I think they cook the rice in coconut milk. Whatever they do, it gives the rice a light and fresh taste which helps cut through some of the thicker curries

Ive been here twice so far and both times have loved my food. The tea leaf salad is delicious and not like anything Ive had elsewhere. A nice kind of tannic fermented flavor with peanuts and sesame seeds over fresh greens - yum yum. Also the spicy veggie noodles were so good, in a coconut curry sauce with some lemongrass in the mix of flavors. I asked to add tofu to the veggie noodles. The tofu here is made of chickpeas, which surprised me because I didnt read the menu closely, but I found it very good! Its more mealy than soybean tofu with a delicious flavor if you like chickpeas, which I do. The mango lassi was tasty but a little too sweet for my liking. I am not a huge fan of sweet things and prefer a mango lassi to have some sour yogurt flavor. I was here for lunch both times and the service was very good - prompt, kind and attentive.

The fourth dish came out so late, the rest of us had all finished eating at that time. We also got two wrong dishes that had to be sent back. In a sea of Burmese restaurants, Teni sits like the foamy crest of a wave. The ambiance is chic. The music down tempo and low key, it felt like I was IN Buddha Bar. Vegetarians have ample choices. I got the roti and the spicy noodles. Both were good, but, honestly, Americanized. I wanted an explosion of Burmese on my taste buds and I got more Thai with the noodles. Not to discount the flavors it just didnt resonate at peak frequency. The yam flavored cone ice cream was also equally average.

Tasty food with a lovely staff but damn they are understaffed. Second time I visited and decided to leave after 45 minutes of waiting. Please hire more staff and train them for better customer coordination. Reorganize your tables so you have better accommodation when larger than two parties show up. Food is fantastic, sincerely. Service on the other hand sucks. Slow and don’t check on you. We got all the food and drinks at the same time and haven’t seen wait staff since. Oh wait they must have sensed a disturbance in the force - they just checked on us for the first time. Disappointing. Weve heard such good things, but the food wasnt that great. We waited over 20 minutes for our food and they forgot orders for 2 people. I can only assume they were off their game (they were recently robbed and have my sympathy), but its quite expensive and for the $$ I was hoping for better.The cumin chicken was overpowered by cumin and heat-- unbalanced and not flavorful. The pea shoot salad was bland and fishy. Veggie curry was bland. Cocktails had fun names but for $15 wasnt too special.Atmosphere was nice. Restaurant looks pretty.
