I recently visited Terra American Bistro with a group of about 20 people and unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations. I feel compelled to share my honest feedback to help others make informed decisions.To begin with, the wait time for our pre-ordered food was unacceptably long. Despite notifying the restaurant our orders weeks in advance, we were left waiting for 90 minutes before our food was ready! This delay not only caused frustration but also resulted in our group being late for prom,Throughout our time at the restaurant, we were also disappointed by the lack of attentive service. Our servers failed to check in on us to see how we were enjoying the food or if we needed anything, causing us to feel neglected. Additionally, I was not once offered a refill for my drink the whole 2 hours we were there, which only added to my overall disappointment.In addition, despite its decent quality and taste, the food we received was nothing special and overpriced considering the small portion sizes. We expected more substantial servings, especially considering the prices charged ($30 per person plus 20% auto gratuity). The combination of high prices and inadequate portion sizes left us feeling dissatisfied and disappointed.Considering the unreasonable delays, lack of quality service, and overpriced dishes, I regret to say that I cannot in good conscience recommend Terra American Bistro.

The food is great. I so glad you kept the calamari on the menu but REALLY DISAPPOINTED that you took The cauliflower off the menu. I used to come in and get both with soup and that was my meal. Now I dont see anything that I want to replace the cauliflower so I probably wont be coming in as often.

First time experience was amazing!The fried cauliflower was scrumptious. My salad with fresh arugula, strawberries and gargonzola was heavenly. And my flat bread pictured was on point.I cannot forget our wonderful server, Colleen. She was super informative and knew her menu items well.My wife and I will definitely be going back...soon.

Used to love brunch at Terra, but lately I’ve only gotten the takeout and it is awful. A “roasted beet and goat cheese salad” was a pile of arugula with a couple small slices of beets, a tiny sprinkling of goat cheese, and the “toasted pecans” couldn’t have been more than half of one pecan. Maybe it’s better if you dine in, but I would avoid using the takeout.

What is a quaint, quiet with a hint of upscale restaurant? Terra American Bistro is just that. We were looking for a new brunch spot to try and we stumbled across this one. What a great place. Most things are homemade and are delicious. Bottomless mimosas are only $6 here.When you pull up to this place you think its closed but its actually open. The service was good and the food was even better. My girlfriend ordered the bacon and avocado omelette and I ordered the pork scramble. Both were fantastic! The pork in my dish was tender and had nice flavor. Her dish came with homemade ketchup which had a nice sweetness to it.This was a cute place with a nice atmosphere. I would recommend this place to anybody looking for a new place to try.

Another 5 star review goes out to Terra American Bistro! I cannot rave enough about the amazing delivery service and special offerings during this difficult time.Heres my food recommendations:- Lobster mac and cheese - I love the rigatoni style pasta and the cheese sauce. It was not overwhelming and the lobster was so sweet and tender!- Fried Brussels Sprouts- Salty Peppery Calamari- Pan Roasted Hanger Steak - tender piece of steak and I dont eat alot of red meat!- St Louis Gooey Butter Cake - you cannot find this anywhere! I need a tray of these!- Cast Iron Baked Banana Bread Puddin - buttery goodness and a must order!During COVID, all the staff are wearing masks properly and giving us disposable menus, making sure everyone is social distancing. They have outdoor seating and you can tell the owner takes pride in making the customers feel comfortable. Love this place!

First Visit:It took 1 hour and 10 minutes for us to receive our food. Once we notified the staff, our food showed up in 10 min. I believed they rushed it as my burger was extremely charred on the outside and RARE inside. Also, one of our plates did not come until 15 minutes after the rest of us received our food. The lady comped our whole bill which was great due to our 1st experience there. We wanted to like this place but it fell way below expectations. However, we would like to try the place another chance as the lady helped us out.September 16, 2018 Update 2nd Visit.I still give it 2 stars. The good: Server this time around is much better. He continued to check on us. The bad: long wait time equal to our 1st visit. Took 20 min. to receive my order of latte. Took 40 minutes to receive my food. My wife and I ordered the Chorizo over easy eggs. Both our eggs were cooked and not close to over easy photos below. The server offered to have it remade, but I dont want to wait another 35 minutes. My buddy ordered ice tea, that i believe provide refills, but never refilled.

Awesome dinner! Nice place, limited parking but very fresh food and great variety! Had the flat iron steak and it was so good with the Yukon mashed (great and garlicky) that came with bonus sweet potatoes and other greens! The calamari presentation was cool, on a piece of flagstone with nice spicey flavour and the st Louis gooey was not too gooey, but so f#cking delicious, OMG, SWEET! You gotta try the st Louis gooey for desert! Nice bar too. Cant wait to go back!

Jeff Rossman and his team delivered an award winning experience for our daughter’s college graduation dinner party of 18. A small team of 2 Flash Gordon Servers, 1 bartender and 1 runner were able to keep our cocktails coming without ever an empty glass at the table. The Roasted Salmon were recommended to have it cooked medium, which means the fish were fresh enough to have it done to our liking. The salmon were so tender and tasty. The 12 hour wine braised short ribs just melted in your mouth with complexed flavors that opened up our appetite. We were surprised to see how clean everyone’s entree plate were consumed - considering we stopped for pizza and beers before showing up for dinner at Terra’s that late noon. Our guests were from San Jose, New Jersey, Minnesota, Texas and Hawaii. Everyone were pleased with their food, and the impeccable service. As we, from Hawaii, would say: “A Big Mahalo” to The Team at Terra’s American Bistro.

Friendly staff. On sundays bottomless mimosas are $6.50. Farm fresh locally grown veggies, unique ketchup which was yummy, and a country feel with country music in the background. Appropriately fast service. Chicken chorizo and my breakfast burrito had great flavor. No rosemary in the country potatoes was awesome!!!!

Friendly and welcoming this place is the perfect level of class without any snoot. I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and drink selections and when it came time to ear the meal was perfect. I had the flat iron steak and Ill just say it, amazing in every way. I highly recommend for a fun date night with the significant other or others.

Yummy!! We went last night for the first time. They were extremely short staffed. Things came out slow, and not everything we wanted, was available. But it was fantastic!! The staff was so friendly and we were told the moment we walked in, ‘the kitchen is backed up and we have 1 server for the whole room’. We had the option to leave. We had time, we stayed and it was just so so yummy! We will definitely be back. We both remarked; if it was this good on a very very off night, we can’t wait to be back, on a good night!

I first wasnt impressed by the small selection of vegan options (but thats not really an issue for me, it just didnt help the experience).Then when I ordered the tofu scramble (listed as being made with: san diego soy dairy tofu, onions, peppers, arugula, smoked tomato sauce, and also was listed as being vegan), I got pretty much that (minus the tomato sauce, but whatever), but it also had scrambled eggs with it as well.We asked the waiters if this was vegan, and after checking with the kitchen, they confirmed it was not vegan, despite being clearly listed as vegan.So all we were left with was some potatoes and the blandest tofu chunks I have ever had. But really the main problem is just that it was listed as vegan, when in reality, it was not.The wait staff was nice and mostly apologetic, but if youre a vegan, just go somewhere else. They have like one other vegan option, and fingers crossed that it is actually vegan.If youre not vegan, try it out I guess, the non vegan food looked fine.

I often order the Terra burger, and its hit or miss if the bun is mushy and too wet. Sometimes the truffle fries have truffle and parmesan, sometimes they hardly have any. The food is inconsistent. Also, their hours suck. I always seem to want to pick up something to go when theyre closed. It cant be just me this happens to.... I often wonder how much money they are leaving on the table by not being open at 3pm and closing at 10pm 7 days a week.

I had visited Terra a few years ago for restaurant week and remember enjoying every bite. Today we celebrated a birthday over brunch. The Terra stuffed french toast is definitely the best French toast experience I have ever had. Coated in cinnamon and corn flakes and stuffed with a berry cream cheese, it puts all other sweet breakfast dishes to shame. My friends had a delightful omelet, a very good chorizo skillet (housemade chorizo!!) and chicken and waffles that sent the birthday boy into a state of bliss.The service was very friendly and inviting. The server took interest in our party and went above and beyond to make it special. Thank you!!!Terra is a must do for Sunday brunch or dinner anytime!

The chicken was great, the cauliflower was okay, the soup was probably the most rancid thing Ive tasted. Side veggies (carrots and sweet potato) were basically roasted in vegetable oil but not cooked all the way and not seasoned. Mashed potatoes and dessert were mid. Not worth getting again.

Our last memorable visit was back in 2013. Last time we were wowed but this time we were disappointed. Its decent food but we feel theres room for improvement. Needs professional culinary feedback.Personally, I would love to see a vegan option added to the menu and to see an emphasis on those farm fresh veggies in the menu, more plant based. Improved service with communication and positivity. Smaller menu and the things that are on the menu should be elevated to a higher quality. For example...The pumpkin ravioli was over salted & overcooked. The grandmas brisket was oversauced & the fat needed to be cut off.

Great food, and service. The bar is a great place to just chill and hang with the friendly staff and catch a game on the TV. Hardly ever have to wait for a table. Also has curbside pickup for those that want to do takeout. The menu is a great mix with something for everyone. Great corner location with plenty of parking. Highly recommend.

There is a full bar and numerous wine options (the espresso martini was delicious). We visited for restaurant week. The baked brie was a generous portion. Our date night to Terra was so wonderful. Our server Eddy was attentive, suggestive & safe. We grazed with a few appetizers and specialty cocktails. The Brussel sprouts were roasted perfectly with olive oil & topped with cheese- my hubby’s favorite. Steak bite skewers had such a good flavor and the sauce on the side (tomato jam) was outstanding. Presentation of the calamari in the rice bowl/wave- so awesome. The salt & pepper light coating was light & crunchy. Owner/Chef Jeff came out & greeted us. So grateful & friendly, what a pleasure to be there & participate in this gem. We’ll definitely be back soon.

Wasnt expecting such a humble little building when I approached this restaurant. I was recommended this place for restaurant week, so my friend and I visited for their 3 course meal.Drinks: It was happy hour when we arrived, but only applicable at the bar (which was full). The wine was expensive for the quality.Food: My dining companion did quite enjoy her meal. I must have chosen poorly. My pumpkin ravioli was a bit tough (the appetizer was two pieces of ravioli). The rigatoni was fine, but tasted like something I make at home on a weeknight. The mixed berry sorbet tasted like it came straight from the grocery store. (We also waited 30-40 minutes for our dessert. We had to ask for it a couple times.)Atmosphere: It was like a party last night. Quite busy and loud. Lot of happy people. The staff were always quite friendly - almost to a fault. We probably had 5-6 people stop by our table to chat. A new favorite! The service was fantastic, the ambiance was modern and comfy all at the same time. Food was wonderfully surprising and interesting in taste and texture. The chicken and waffles is AMAZING! You can get the chicken spicy and then they cover it all with a pecan syrup. The layers of flavor and texture are perfection. I rarely go back to restaurants unless they are something special; Im having my bday brunch here because it was so good. My husband an I happened to find this gem of a restaurant through a phone local app while vacationing in San Diego from Phoenix. What a find! Great wine list, very expert and helpful server, and some of the best food I have ever had! We were disappointed that they no longer accept the Passport dining card, but usually enjoy their food. We ordered the Beet and Goat cheese salad with grilled shrimp. We ordered on line from their website. 2 hours later the food still didnt arrive. We called and was told they use a third party to deliver and they never showed up. My issue is that I ordered their food from their website and they are the responsible party. I had to go pick up the order. Instead of getting a hot meal, they gave us the original ordered food that was sitting on their bar for 2 hours. Everything was cold, the burger buns were wet and very mushy. The fries were sogy. They should have refired the whole order.

I just ordered curbside pick up from Terra for the first time and it won’t be the last!! They are so well organized! Ordering on line was so easy and the pick up was great. You don’t even have to get out of your car!! To top it all off the food is so delicious with a great variety daily. It was such a treat to have someone else cook for us! Well done Terra! Our dinner was fabulous. Check out their menu online. Food was fresh and delicious. Do not miss the brownie on the desert menu. It is dramatically served in a small skillet with salted caramel still bubbling around the edge, and a side of ice cream. We will definitely be going back.

My Husband went for dinner tonight. It was San Diego Restaurant Week. We chose to order off the regular menu. Even though it was very busy service was very good. I had the fillet. The steak melted in your mouth. My sides where the mac and cheese I think it was the best Ive had in a long time. My second side was the grilled brussel sprouts the problem was keeping my Husband from stealing them. He had the Salmon which he said was wonderful.Looking forward to trying the Sun Brunch with friends.

We came here for brunch a few weeks back on a whim, and Im glad we did. We sat right down and the staff was super friendly. Im usually suspicious of champagne that comes included with brunch (because its often cheap) but what we got a Terra was actually pretty good. My wife had a big crisp thing and I had the short ribhash, both tasty and came out fast. Would definitely come again, thanks for having us.

Surprisingly unusual find for El Cajon Blvd! Tried it out last weekend and the dining room was more than half full within first hour from start of dinner service. Had the brussel sprouts appetizer, it was delicious. I would go back just for that. Our entrees were very good as well, the brisket was melting in every bite and the jalapeno corn bread pudding was decadent. Great dining not far from the La Mesa Village, give it a try.

Catered our wedding and the food was absolutely amazing. All my guests raved about how good the food was, and my husband and I were blown away at our tasting. Our hors doeuvres were so delicious and our entrees were spectacular. We ordered beef and duck as our entrees, they were both done to perfection and served with sauces that brought out the flavors of the meats perfectly. Plus they did the entire menu gluten free. I highly highly recommend, and would definitely hire again.

We really wanted to like Terra. Its two blocks from home, and seems like it could be interesting, but satisfy your curiosity somewhere else. We went a month or so ago and after an entire hour had still not received our food, we discussed it with the manager who promptly made our food appear. The problem was the kitchen did not finish cooking it. We left without most of our party eating and told the manager we would give them another shot. And while today was a little better, I am being generous with two stars. The service was painfully slow, drink refills while we waited had to be requested by flagging down the server, ouriends ordered breakfast dishes over-easy and received over-hard. My food was ok but nothing special and we still waited 50 minutes to get our food. Like I said we wanted to like it here, but after two tries I see no light at the end of the tunnel.

I ordered steak with fries. How was I to know it would be a small thin steak on a pile of fries in a sea of liquid that splattered all over me. At least provide a paper bib. Place is very consistent and the service has been great everytime that I have been here.Ive tried the lobster mac and cheese, the porterhouse chop, and the iron steak. Presentation of every meal was excellent along with taste. Kudos to the chef for creating such great works of art. Deserts were delicious as well from the persimmon creme Brule to the banana pudding. Definitely will be back again. Great atmosphere and ambiance. What a gem to find in east county!

Not sure what is happening to a usually good place. Extremely long wait for food to arrive, approximately 80 minutes. After 45 minutes we asked if order was lost the only communication we received was there wasnt enough kitchen help and we were fifth up. At to end of 80-90 minutes we asked to be cashed out and they wanted to check again. The food was magically available..the lobster was not cooked and inedible.

We got a bbq meal to go with ribs and half a chicken yesterday, and boy what a disappointment that was. The ribs were so dry, they should be advertised as pig jerky. The chicken was puzzling; how does one undercook a protein and still manages to make it dry? Pink chicken should never be allowed to be served in a restaurant, but if its your thing, then Terra will be good for you. Mac&cheese was meh, and the potato salad with raw onions is a great for staying socially distant, since nobody will come close to your breath.All in all, a disappointed meal and a high ticket price; a mistake I will only make once...

Been there twice for breakfast, first time I had rib tip hash which was decent, 2nd time was on mothers day, we had a 10:00am reservation, they called us a couple days before and asked to reschedule it to 10:30 to provide a better dining experience. Ok fine, but when we got there at 10:30 we didnt get seated until almost 11. I had their breakfast quesadilla which was terrible. Dry tortilla, almost no cheese and just a couple shreds of beef in it mostly just filled with a scrambled egg. Definitely not worth the pricing. They also add a 3% surcharge to all checks to cover minimum wage increases. For some reason this rubs me the wrong way. Like if you cant make ends meet when you charge $17.65 for a tortilla with a fried egg a sprinkle of cheese and a few shreds of beef without adding a 3% surcharge to the check, maybe youre in the wrong business. Look elsewhere for quality meal.

Not as special as we had hoped it would be when we suggested Terra to out-of-town visitors. The shared appetizer plate of Brussels sprouts took a long while to come out. Just as we spooned some onto small plates, the first two of five dinner orders arrived, followed by the rest. What to eat, the app or dinner??? One of orders was for a well-done burger. The outside was seared but the inside was bright pink. The older gentleman diner didnt want to make waves as he was a guest. Most of it was boxed to go home (into the trash).
