Tom Yum soup was delicious, they were accommodating to my request for a side of thin pho noodles to accompany my soup. Size medium was perfect for one person. The veggie spring rolls were also tasty, came with 4 rolls and a delicious peanut sauce. My friends got a pad Thai, which they said matched expectations. My Vietnamese coffee was also as expected, and very good!Some super minor snafus with the service but we were happy.Thanks for having us!

I was just feeling a little bit limited by the selection of food in the area lately when my friend and I finally tried Thai and Lao Cuisine in the old Stater Brothers mall. It was so refreshing to experience the flavors of Lao cuisine, with which I am not very familiar. Everything we chose, with the help of our server Anna, was absolutely delicious. A great new addition to the local fare of Yucca Valley, just a few minutes from Joshua Tree and Pioneertown.

Absolutely delicious. Service were sweethearts. We LOVE spicy so this place delivers on the spice level! Just be aware that if you dont like spicy, make it very clear you want your food mild. Their rankings of spice levels are higher than other restaurants. So a medium there is like an extra spicy at another restaurant where they may have dumbed down the spice level for Americans. Haha. Bring on the heat! 🔥

We absolutely love this place. We order the yellow curry with shrimp and vegetarian egg rolls and both were very delicious. I order takeout and even though it was a 55 minute wait, It was worth it. I totally understand we need to be patience these days, the staff is friendly and theyre trying their best. Ill definitely be back for more. Thank you for bringing this delicious Thai food to our desert, Yucca Valley

First time visiting the restaurant after the new owner took over. We ordered a carry out including 4 items. Took them over an hour to complete. Once picked up, we drove straight home because the bags were already started to leak through. The orders were poorly packed and not properly assembled. All containers broke and the soup spilled out. The paper containers torn apart. Although it changed the name to Thai and Lao, the menu was very similar to the previous owner.

We waited a few weeks before going because a few weeks after they had their grand opening there was a 2 hour wait! We got in around 4:30pm and beat the rush. The food was all very generous and great tasting. The service was nice and readily helpful even though being so busy. Will definitely return for more meals in the future!

Kennedy was our server and she was super awesome.We ordered the Shrimp Tom Yum, Chicken yellow curry and the crab fried rice...it was ALL AMAZING. We had the level 3 spice and it was spicy in a good way. Kudos Chef! We will be back!

The food was inedible. I had the fried chicken thigh with sticky rice and pickled salad. The salad was good. The chicken was deep-fried to the bone and hard as a rock. The sticky rice was more like gummy rice, and you could barely swallow it. I asked to be brought a second piece of chicken and sent the first one back because it was bad and even the second one they brought out wasn’t much better. The spring rolls were supposed to have shrimp in them. I think I found one small shrimp plus they were sloppily made and they were huge, and just stuffed with salad with noodles The Thai iced tea was delicious.

This place is amazing. My favorite is the Larb Gai and theyre always fast and friendly. It is spicy as hell so even if you are an experienced spice connoisseur, I would recommend starting at level one. One of my go to favorites in the basin.

We were a family of 4. We stopped by for a late lunch on our way back from Joshua Tree NP. We ordered a Chicken Pho, Jungle curry and Glass Noodles. It took 50 minutes for our order to arrive. The pho did not pack the flavor that we have experienced elsewhere, my son was barely able to eat it. The jungle curry was average, a tad too sour we thought. The glass noodles again fell short of expectations, the tofu was too chewy and the flavors did not make the mark. Overall a disappointing experience with both food and service. Will give it a pass if in the area next.

This is a good choice for food around Joshua Tree. Be careful about the spice, a 1-2 is hotter than you might think. The service was lacking, and when the food came out, it was pretty dry. This problem was solved with more sauce.

I’m in post eating bliss as I write this review. My husband and I stopped by to order pick and we both instantly became addicted. The curry and pad Thai are so flavorful and the portions were enough for each of us to have double servings and still enough for leftovers. Spring rolls were delicious. Service was great. I wish we could go back but we are visiting from San Diego and even though we have plenty of good Thai spots I’ll definitely miss this place.

Other than that, their drunken noodles, chicken wings, Penang curry, chicken satay are all yummy! Must go for a different cuisine in town. Take out is a reasonable wait time too.

Dont listen to the bad reviews, Ive been here many times and always left satisfied. Maybe in the past wait times were rough, according to the reviews from months ago, but they seemed to have stepped up their speed because Ive never had an issue with wait times. The food is always delicious! I ordered medium spice level (4/10) and it was more than I expected, but squeezing the included lime over the dish brought the spice down to the perfect level. Staff is always friendly too.

Cannot recommend this family shop enough!!!We may have been those obnoxious tourists who placed an order for 20 people (not ahead of time) and they were POWERING through our food. Its literally a single mom in the kitchen and her kid working the front of the restaurant. We had our massive order ready for takeout 2 hours later (yes, you should plan and call ahead, unlike us), and it was well worth it.The food is absolutely fantastic, we *especially recommend the three flavor fish* and all of their Laotian dishes. Also, when they say something is spicy, TRUST THEM, and do not overestimate your abilities.5/5 flavors!

Very Poor service and the food can definitely be skipped. Their are many more places that genuinely have tasty food in yucca and this is not one of them. I wouldn’t be writing this if the response to my complaint wasn’t so poorly handled as I could have forgiven the pad Thai dish that was so bland and only tasted of overly sweet tamarind. There was no trace of any of the aromatic savory flavors that Thai and most Asian food have. The person who’s attention I brought my complaint to was very reluctant to do anything or offer something else and blamed it on me stating I just wasn’t familiar with their cuisine. Which couldn’t be further from the truth. She then proceeded to go to the kitchen and talk very loudly about me and my issue to the cook who was apparently her mother. The whole experience was just bad work ethic from people who clearly did not understand the importance of customer service For small family owned restaurants. Not to mention a woman that came in who was clearly on having some sort drug induced mental breakdown was sat on the table near us just made it that much worse and unenjoyable. As we walked out another pair of customers stopped us outside and said they were glad we spoke up as their food was also terrible and that they would not be going back their as well. Do your self a favor and skip this place lol.

The poor service is really a shame. Called for a take out order multiple times but they didnt answer their phone. Finally got through and placed the order they said itd be 45min and theyd call me back. Never called me back. Waited an hour. Called them, didnt answer. Drove to them, when I arrived it had now been an hour and a half. They were still making my food. I saw they were busy and explained that I worked in the service industry so its okay that theyre taking a long time but the least they could do is spare 2min for a call and let me know. Staff was extremely rude, ignored me and said your total is __. When I said hey look, Im not asking for a discount, or anything but I do think I at least deserve a sorry. They didnt want to say sorry until I explained that I get that things happen but theyre running a business, etc. Finally got an OK sorry your total is __. This is the 4th time theyve been rude, and taken a long time and I really wanted to give this place a chance, but I wont be returning. The food and price for the amount and quality is unfortunately not worth being treated like theyre doing me a favor. PS. Dont order the shrimp spring rolls they cut a single shrimp in half and split the single shrimp between two spring rolls. Its honestly one of the most egregious things Ive ever seen, but its kinda funny. I ate it like that twice before I said hey why is this $3 extra when I only get half a shrimp and they were like thats how we make it.

Horrible customer service. I’ve been to this place a number of times only because I love Thai food and wanted it to work but honestly, it’s ridiculous. First time I went I asked for not spicy and they made it inedible (and yes, I can stand moderate levels). Second time they said takeout would take 20-30 minutes. We stood there upon arrive for ages because after 30 minutes they hadn’t even started our order. It took them an hour and 15 to finally make it. Then today I made another attempt at takeout. Called 3 times and had the number go straight to a full voicemail. Ok, I’ll just go down there and order in person. The server was ridiculously dismissive and rude. I arrive and they tell me it’ll take over an hour. Fine, I want to order anyway. She asked me if I know what I want, I say yes and start to order. “Oh no I wasn’t asking for your order,” Is the response. I try to tell the server that I attempted to call and it didn’t get through and as if there’s any other way to not have to come down here to order. She tells me I didn’t call. I say there might be something wrong with your line. I confirm the member. It’s correct. She insists again and again that I didn’t call. Like honestly, I’m trying to give you my money, but at this point I give up.

They take food seriously, so if good food is what you’re looking for, go. If you want a guaranteed table without waiting, or your food to come immediately, not the right place. If you’re happy to enjoy the anticipation and savor the food, it’s great. Waitstaff is direct and kind and authentic. Not some generic place—it actually had a calm, non commercial and educational documentary playing on the tv—very refreshing. We liked the catfish nuggets wrapped in banana leaf a lot, soups are huge.

Food definitely good but waited 2 hours for take out while watching another family come in 1 hour after us be seated and served food multiple dishes, finish, pay and leave before we got our food another 25 minutes later. We only ordered 4 things. 2 regular dishes and 2 appetizers. I didn’t care as much for the wait in total. I was more disappointed that they kept telling us 20 more minutes instead of just being honest and realistic from the beginning with their wait time which sounds like happens a lot. When we tried to explain this we just got attitude unfortunately. It didn’t have to go that way. That was disappointing.

Probably the first review Ive ever written for any establishment. We wanted to try something new instead of the typical few local choices. I must say that we were not disappointed. Found the place not very busy and was met with a courteous staff. Everything that we had seemed like it was freshly made. The flavors were all very rich and satisfying. All of the portions for very generous and rather affordable as well. Both my wife and I had two entrees a piece plus drinks that came in under $50. From the first bite we were very very satisfied. While we were there there were some people who were complaining that their food wasnt already out and in a very polite manner it was explained to them that that persons mother was in the kitchen working making everything fresh for them. Moral of the story is that good things take time, so take somebody with you that you like to have conversations with, sit down and have some coffee with boba and trust in the process.. we definitely plan on returning We wish this place the best of luck in all for a happy future.

The curry I had tonight was one of the best things I have EVER eaten. I am very impressed with this place. The peanut dressing for the salad was also amazing. To those reviewers who complained about the food being too spicy or too bland you may want to give this place another try and fully express your desired spice level. I have held out on reviewing this place until now. Ill start out by saying when the food is on point its so good!! However I now need to honestly review this establishment. To start with I have had multiple experiences with over a 2 hour wait. This can almost be forgiven with delicious food which it certainly can be. This last time however when I called I asked specifically about the fried rice not being spicy. I was assured there is no spice in the fried rice. When I got home the rice was covered in black pepper, very odd for fried rice, this made the rice extremely spicy. My children could not eat it. The noodles I ordered were very overcooked to the point of tasting burnt. And the curry was bland and the chicken in it very rubbery. When I called they told me I could get a refund if I brought it back. I called to inform them and they said they dont know what happend, no apologies given. Finally they said I could get a refund if I bring it back. I am 15 miles away I told them. They said I still had to bring it in to get a refund.Unfortunately that is the last time I can give them my business. I cant deal with insanely long waits and subpar food. Its a real shame. I had high hopes for this place and I genuinely enjoy their food when they were on point with it.

Gluten free gluten free!They don’t advertise this (they should) but 99% of the menu is gluten free! The dumplings, the Chinese donuts! It’s also authentic.We got the Pho, Panang curry, and dumplings and everything was amazing! Will definitely come back every time I’m in Joshua Tree.

Tasty and Authentic Thai food. I am Thai so the food definitely hit the spot and reminded me of my moms cooking. Originally from San Diego and was passing through and stopped by for some food. Dont Go! Without a doubt, this was the worst dining experience Ive had in many years. We waited an hour to be served after placing our order without any attention from the completely disorganized and incompetent staff. The entire staff, manager, cook, and waitstaff were in chaos. Patrons were being served the wrong dishes or told they had ordered food that they had not. Several would-be diners left in disgust, as did at least two people who were waiting (endlessly) in line for carryout orders. My food arrived first cold, and ten minutes later, my dinner companions order was still not ready. We finally decided to leave, and I brought my plate of food to the cash register to ask that it be boxed for takeaway. The waitress appeared to be entirely at sea, first getting a small sandwich-sized box to hold a large plate of food. Another customer who was also waiting at the cash register intervened and patiently explained that what was needed was a container large enough to hold the contents of the plate so that it could be taken home to eat. To be clear, the waitress was a native English language speaker, so the problem in communication was not due to any language barrier. By this point, we were unsurprised to find that they could not find our order ticket and that we had to repeat our order and a new ticket made so that we could be charged. At that point, my companions order was found and prepared for takeaway. No excuses or apologies were offered.Oh yes, about the food, the tofu vegetable dish in a brown sauce that I ordered was unremarkable, comparable to what Id expect from a food court, and the jungle curry that my companion ordered was so spicy-hot as to be inedible. We are both lovers of Thai food, and we appreciate a spicy-hot curry. However, this curry scored a five or six on a scale of one to three. Yet another oversight was to fail to offer their customers a choice of how spicy-hot the dish should be. All in all, this was a miserable and time-consuming restaurant experience.

Was so excited to have a new Thai place in town. Unfortunately they couldn’t even get red curry right. Completely watered down, no bamboo shoots, no peppers. Very bland and boring. I tried to order papaya salad and they didn’t have papaya, I tried to order fried wontons, and they were out. My husband ordered the pho which was also very bland and boring, we wound up having to use our own spices in attempts to salvage. My first and last time ordering from here.

Aroy Mak!Just came back from my 6th visit to Thailand 2-weeks ago and was craving a taste of the land of smiles.I ordered one of my favorite dishes and was not disappointed. Infact, I was totally blown away.-Panang Curry (Chicken)-The spice level without even mentioning it was perfect.The taste was phenomenal, truly on-par with being in Thailand.The price was extremely reasonable considering normal Thai food prices in the USA. (Under $12 and it came with rice)I was told it would be a 45-minute wait for take out but they had it ready in 25-30 minutes.The front service was great and joyful.Anyone in the area or just passing by who is a lover of Thai/Lao foods must try this location!One of my new favorites in SoCal. Two points: (1) wait time and (2) spice. On (1): I have to agree with other reviews that the wait time is excessively long. We called in and were told the wait would be an hour and a half. We showed up at the stated time and had to wait an additional half hour (so that’s two hours total). They have a labor misallocation problem as they had two people in the front who weren’t doing anything (chatting with customers) while someone in the back prepped everything. On (2): this is some of the spiciest Thai food I’ve ever had — they cooked real Thai chilis into it. I’m a huge fan of spice so I was happy about that. Besides the insane spice level the food was good, pretty standard. Would not come back given the wait time.

I was really excited to try this place. Ordered very basic items to test it out. I ordered pad thai for my husband and when the woman asked how spicy we wanted it, I told her medium and she gave us a 4. I ordered pad see ew for myself and said I dont want it spicy at all and she gave us a 2. The pad thai was so spicy that it was inedible. My pad see ew was the worst Ive ever had - it was also spicy even though I said I didnt want it spicy at all. Aside from the spice level, it had almost no flavor at all. We also ordered chicken satay which was extremely dry. We ended up tossing our food in the trash and driving to Aki sushi for dinner (its a few doors down from Thai and Lao and its always great).

Highly recommend this place. It far exceeded our expectations. Can be difficult to find spicy Asian food in this area and this place is legit. We had the fried tilapia, sausage, pad kee mow, pork larb, cucumber salad, mango sticky rice, and fried bananas. All were delicious but the tilapia, sausage, mango sticky rice and bananas were stand outs and the level 4 cucumber salad had us a little scared :)

We just had a bad experience there as well. It was very awkward and nothing more promising than cafeteria Thai, to be honest. Six of us went and you’d think we were ordering Thai food from a burger joint because the Thai lingo (per sae) was so foreign to the waiter. For example, 3 of us ordered chicken Pad See Ew. We asked what their spice ratings were. We had to explain that to the waiter and it still wasn’t fully understood. One of us agreed on “level 2” which was considered to be medium. The waiter brought out what he said was beef Pad See Ew. We advised him we ordered chicken. He went back to the kitchen and brought back out chicken? The chicken was cold as it had obviously been pre-prepared because how else could we bow have chicken in our Pad See Ew in less than 2 mins. Additionally, they didn’t know who’s order had the level 2 that I mentioned above so we just awkwardly took whichever was handed to us. Well, mine was so unbelievably hot that it was not edible and I can handle spice, trust me. The other 2, one had chili flakes poured over the top and the other had none. Neither of our 3 orders matched in appearance - at all. The others’ in our party said their food, which was shrimp fried rice, was mushy. The other who ordered teriyaki had a few pieces of dried and very hard chicken that it was dark orange and couldn’t be cut with a knife. Maybe a tablespoon of teriyaki sauce on her dish. When we asked for more sauce, another literal tablespoon was handed to us. Oh, and I may have forgot to mention that don’t even try asking any details about their menu, you’ll be looked at with such confusion. For example, “does you garlic chicken come breaded or sauced”? You’ll be told yes, you’ll order it, and then after the food is done you’ll be told that it’s not breaded or sauced, what else would you like? But this is after everyone’s food is already made LOL. The waiter is very nice by the way, but just really needs to study the menu. Since our food took over ONE AND A HALF HOURS to make it out, we had no choice but to just stay and wait it out. We were absolutely starving and didn’t know what else we could do to eat as it was approaching 8pm now. When we were clearly done eating, or rather, wanting to leave, we could not get our check for the life of us so my son walked up to the register and asked kindly if we may have our check. He was advised that they would bring it right over. Ten mins passes, (mind you, we have now been here for TWO HOURS, and want to leave. It was loud, food was gross, service was a cluster F). My son went back up to the register to ask for the check again and there was a woman with very short hair who visibly became so frustrated with my son that he had the audacity to ask again, that she physically shoulder checked him as she walked by and glared at him. Everyone in our party saw this happen and so I walked up to her and asked her if there were some thing we did to frustrate her because we just watched her do that to my son. She backpedaled became very apologetic and said that it must be due to her mask that we misunderstood her actions?! Nearly $100 and probably the worst dining experience we’ve ever had to date. It’s a shame the prior owner sold because they were terrific, kind, delicious, & consistent.

Moved to Yucca a while ago and saw this last night and decided to give it a try today! We ordered a pad see ew, pad thai, the whole fried tilapia and a thai tea and it was amazing! I was really thrilled to learned they had whole fried tilapia and it did not disappoint. The pad see ew was also very good! I cant wait to try their curries next time!We ordered on the phone for pick up and it was a 2 hour wait, but the staff was super nice and the quality is worth it.
