My wife and I always enjoy Thai restaurants and have eaten at ones all over California. Today we tried this one. How did it compare…?It took the GOLD!I usually don’t go back to the kitchen to thank the chefs, but I did today. This is more than just great food… it’s ART.Everything was PERFECTION.

I tried the fresh spring rolls (with avocado & tofu). And the PAD SEE EW (without eggs). The service was friendly, rapid, and the food is very good. (No, I didnt eat all of that food at one time 😄).They have a spicy rating of 1-5. 1-mild to 5-🔥. I went with 3 and it was just right.

Highly recommended. Audry and I love Thai Basil because the dining area is comfortable, the service is consistently excellent, there is always a carry-out option, everything on the menu seems fresh. Flavors and spices seem well balanced. She and I have both lived or traveled across Asia and we agree that the food is as close to traditionally prepared as our American culture will allow. When we ask for hot, we get hot. Their spicy scale goes from 0 to 10. I like a 3. Once in a while, Ill go 6. She likes 0. When we ask for mild we get mild. Like any made-to-order place, we have had to get used to their basic food flavors, textures, consistencies and then order accordingly. Sometimes we only order two or three appetizers with their yummy sauces. Theyre all good. The chicken and shrimp options in all of the dishes that weve tried are generous. Their plain rice is great. Their fried rice is not like Chineese fried rice. Its much more moist and juicy. It depends upon what you like. She finds many of the veggie based dishes to be bland and gets them seasoned to order. I prefer curry. Yellow, green, red are all very good here. Taken alone, their curries are not hot. They are rich and bold. They reheat well at home and hold their flavor. The bill is fair for what you get. The two of us get hot tea, two appetizers, two entrees and a plate of fried rice (we take home leftovers) for about $25 each, out the door, with a 20% tip. Highly recommended. Be early. Standing room only 40 minutes after opening at 5pm.

The staff and location are great, but the food was just okay. The soup was overly sour and had giant hard seasonings you had to be careful not to bite into on accident. The curry was just okay.

The absolute BEST orange chicken I’ve ever had! Highly recommend you at least come here to try that dish once. The rest I can’t comment on too much as I only really come to Thai Basil for their orange chicken.I’m only disappointed they’re not open on the weekends - they’d make so much more business!

As reviews on Yelp - 5/1/2018Thai Basil is THE place to go for authentic Thai food. Its worth a drive for us! The place is small with a few tables so it could get really packed and may have to wait. Its worth waiting for a table as the food is amazing. We usually order the Pad Thai, Pad Ke Mow, fried rice among other items and they are always consistent and amazingly packed with flavor. Theres a man there (perhaps the owner) that took our order and never had to write them down, and he nails it every time. Hes fast and furious and his skill in managing tables, incoming phone orders and pick-up is something I have never seen before. If you go, take your time and expect a little wait. If you cant wait, I suggest call in ahead for order to go. This place does not disappoint. Heres the kicker thats taking some points away: The place has plug-in air fresheners which is a complete turnoff in a restaurant.

This is not only my favorite Thai restaurant in town but my favorite restaurant ANYWHERE. If you go here, get the Pad Thai at a spicy level 3 (5 if you like heat, 7 if youre adventurous) and you will NEVER look at Pad Thai the same.Seriously, if I ever find myself in death row, these guys Pad Thai would be my request for my final meal. Its THAT hauntingly good.

We ordered Pad Thai with beef and Yellow Curry with tofu. Only downside is the entree curries dont come with rice, its a side you have to order. The food was delicious. The Pad Thai was deceptively big, enough for dinner and lunch the next day.

I love their food! It is always fresh and very tasty. I love the orange chicken it comes crispy which I love! I also get their fried rice and veggie chow main without the bean sprouts. I love that they come with baby corn tastes so good!😋I dont care for the egg rolls they could be better they dont taste authentic tastes pre packaged😢

Great, friendly service in a quaint little restaurant. We usually just get takeout, but have enjoyed dining in every time we do. They can get a little busy on weekends, so be prepared for a little wait - but its well worth it.

Since moving to the central valley from southern California, Ive been resigned to less diversity of quality food. Theres still plenty of good stuff, but its hard to compare with L.A. Thai Basil was a pleasant surprise. I had lunch there and ordered the panang curry with beef, spice level 4 (on a scale of 5). It was quite nice. The flavors were just as good as the Thai food I grew up eating. The beef was tender, and the vegetables were a good complement. I wouldve liked a bit more beef, but it wasnt lacking. The spice level is subjective to each person, of course, but for me, it was perfect: a bit of a sweaty brow without compromising the flavor. I did have to order rice on the side, as this dish is intended for family style and not available as one of their lunch specials. I also got Thai iced tea, which is a tasty way to take the edge off the spice.The person who joined me got the chow mein lunch special and was very happy with it, including the egg roll.The only drawback is that their website is out of date, so when I searched for menu information, the only place I could find anything was on Google photos. I wouldve loved to have a PDF or something available for some advance planning, especially if we ever want to do takeout.All in all, very nice little Thai restaurant. Well definitely be back!

I’m a big fan of Thai Basil! I lived in Southeast Asia for a couple years and this place feels like going back. Might not be quite as good as what you’d get across the pond but I love the curry and the mango sweet rice. I usually get takeout so can’t really speak to the dine-in service, but the waitress at the cash register has always been super friendly.

Excellent all around. The red curry was perfect, with an option for spice level. The cashew chicken had an incredibly flavorful sauce that is unrivaled. I also appreciate the level of organization in the kitchen staff as well as pride in the presentation of each dish.

Last nite, I ordered 3 Pad Thai dishes and a coconut chicken soup to go for my dinner guests. The Pad Thai was just a bunch of greasy noodles, no flavor an little else. The coconut chicken soup also had little chicken or anything else save the coconut based broth. Between 5 people we actually choked down 1 tasteless Pad Thai and less than half the soup. Today I tried to eat one of the left overs and realized again, that It really isn’t worth eating. I called Thai Basil and nicely let the manager know how the food was, not to get a free meal cause I will never go there again, but to let her know in case she has a new cook who doesn’t know how to cook or is stealing all the meat or whatever. I used to like this place and thought they may not know what is going on. She told me: “That is our recipe and if you don’t like it go somewhere else to eat.” I certainly won’t be going there anymore.

I am disgusted with this restaurant, the food was basically inedible, if I could leave 0 stars I would.I went to this restaurant 0n 01/20/22 and ended up taking everything to go because they were getting ready to close for dinner.I ordered the 🍍 fried rice, the 🍍 curry, the assorted appetizers, 2 pad see ew noodles, sticky rice and 2 thai iced teas.For some reason everything is wrapped in foil inside the containers, I suspect so that they can do smaller portions, the fried rice was complete trash, soggy and not even mixed together right and entirely disgusting.The pad see ew was extremely salty I mean to the point that you cant taste anything else, the pineapple curry was bland, the appetizers were extremely bad, the shrimp wraps were dry and tasted burnt, the dumplings were a weird color and didnt have much flavor and the spring rolls were soggy inside and completely disgusting.The only things that were edible were the thai teas and the sticky rice, (even though it needed more condensed milk)I dont know how they have 4.6 stars its insane to me with food this bad.I will not be returning, thats over 70 dollars down the drain, it seems you can get away with anything if you have enough stars and people who dont know what the food should taste like leave good reviews because they dont know any better.

Very satisfied with the taste and quality of food. I like that the waitresses ask how spicy you would like your dish on a scale from 1-10. I had the pad Thai lunch special, my co-workers had the red curry, and a shrimp dish, and we were all pleased. The portion sizes are more than enough. Down side is that this place isnt the best for lunch. It gets really busy and food takes to long to come out. Order ahead of time if possible.

Amazing find, mid-June! All portions served were HUGE, much more than the average Thai restaurant. Very authentic taste; spices are strong and bold! Called ahead a large, to-go order, and everything was ready in a very reasonable 20 minutes. Front lady was very friendly and personable. Definitely recommended in Visalia!

My tried and true Thai spot. The food is amazing! You have to try the Thai Tea!But the service is so BAD, we had reservations and weren’t seated until 30 minutes after our reservation time (did not receive an apology or a bit of sympathy), we order and a long time later the food comes out and they messed up on my sister’s order so we had to send it back, (still no sympathy was shown). The waitress could’ve been more sympathetic to start and at least offered a free drink for the wait and trouble.If you go here just be patient. Oh and not ideal for large parties, the tables are of 4 seats and only about 10 tables in the restaurant.

Really authentic Thai food. I always have a good time when I go here. The wait staff are very nice to you and they always strike up a conversation. I would have liked to have this restaurant in a more upscale area, but thats just because they would get way more foot-traffic that way. I just feel good places like this should be able to do better in the form of business. Keep it going guys. You rock!

Decided to stop in here one day for lunch. They had a great lunch menu and was priced decently especially for the quality of the food. I decided to go with my favorite, Panang Curry with white rice. I went with spice level 8/10 and I definitely feel it was a good spicy but I think I could have done 10/10.

Great food! My favorite places to make take out orders. I dont however recommend dinning in. Usually gets quite busy during dinner time. The waiter can be very slow at taking orders. It does take a while to be seated when busy but the food sometimes worth the wait. Definitely big serving worth the cost.

The food tastes great and authentic! They have spice levels from 1 to 10; 7 is moderately spicy for Asians / Indians. The portion size of curry is large enough for two people. Rice doesnt come along with curry. They have excellent customer service.

My family and I have been going to Thai Basil for many, many years now. Weve been through the ownership changes, but the quality of food and service continues to be the best of any Thai place Ive been to. This is usually the first place we eat at when me and my siblings visit home. We love everything about this place. The food is out of this world. Eating family-style is the way to go.

Visited here during a trip to Sequoia National Forest. Restaurant was a little smaller than I expected from the pictures. Service was quick and to the point as it was busy here. We had spring rolls as an appetizer and soup before our meal. Ordered the panang curry for dinner. Everything came out hot and was excellent. Server kept our drinks filled even with there being several other groups there. Looks like they do a very good carryout business also. Good prices but I was a little disappointed that rice was charged for extra. My expectation would be that rice is required with curry. Should be included in the price of the meal instead of charged separately. This is a good Thai option in the Visalia area.

Service was prompt and friendly. I ordered the green curry, an item you’ll find in every Thai restaurant. I don’t know if it was just the day I went or if it’s how they make their curry buy it was pretty watery, If it was just a thicker I’d definitely be going there a lot more. We also ordered spring rolls and the citrus dipping sauce was also too watery. So for service I’d give 5 stars and food I’d give like a 3.5, but Hey were in Visalia so not much competition from other restaurants. 😃

Whenever I need Thai food, I look no further than Thai Basil. Its not too great, which is sometimes a problem for me, and always delicious. I also like how they ask how hot you want your dishes... its on a 1 to 10 scale. The downside is that its a pretty small operation and its so good, they can sometimes be too busy to answer the phone for a take out order. They dont have to many tables, which can be tough of weekends. Also, they have limited beer and wine.

You have to try the pineapple shrimp curry, their orange chicken is killer, overall their restaurant is to die for. Every time we go in there they always call us by name. If we eat there or eat to go the waitress always gives me a glass full of crushed ice since that is what i like while i am waiting. I know great food because i am a picky eater. This place is at the top of the list and i am only 12.

My only experience with this restaurant was me and my daughter wanted to try it so we got there at 2:30 and the waitress was asking us if we were going to be done by 3:00 because they close at 3 until dinner service at 5PM I was a little taken aback that they wouldnt let u order a meal and eat it before leaving. On vacation and found this place by googling nearest Thai restaurant. Really good and I am picky. Had the broccoli and chicken in garlic sauce. It had lots if other veggies in it and the garlic sauce was more like a broth. Simply divine. Lots of chicken. I was shocked about how delicious it was. The pad Thai is incredible. I love spicy food and you get to choose how spicy you like your food and I always get a 5 outta 10 spicy and its pretty tasty. Their Thai coffee is also delicious as is their shrimp wonton soup. Their sweet sticky rice with mango is to die for.

Like i have mentioned before i have literally had Thai food all over the world.Recently I traveled to Thailand and in my opinion that country has the best food in the world. Hands down! No contest. When it come to Thai food in Visalia, I think the Thai Basil has the best Thai food in town. The taste is very authentic. The prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. And even though the place is small they never make you feel hurried.I recomend it to all my friends.

Absolute worst place ever! First the cashier tried to short me my change. Meal came to $15.68, I gave her a $20 and she gave me back $3.32with full confidence. Until I mentioned the $1 disparity.Secondly, I ordered vetatierian pinneapple fried rice and was given pineapple fired rice with chicken and shrimp... when I called to get it fixed they told me “you have to specify” (which clearly I did once I said I wanted Vegaterian but whatever)...Thirdly, I order a side of plain fried rice with my meal and received a joke of a scoop in a small Togo box...I’m not even from Visalia but this place is the worst place if ever been to.I will be fair and say the food I did get tasted pretty good... but the service is horrendous.

This was the first time we went to this restaurant it was delicious been told by a lot of people that the food was good there right were definitely going back I did a number 2 heat I think Im going to turn it back and go to a number one heat they have it all the way up to a number 10 I cant imagine what a 10 would be two was good I think one would be better in my opinion.
