Food is bit pricey given the price, but it is totally worth it. Completely vegan and has options for everyone. Lot of things on menu. We had Banh Mi sandwich (house special one). They serve water which is infused with apple and litchee. Also, they gave us complementary Flan during thanksgiving. The owner was so informative and talked to us specially, which was so sweet of her. Definitely worth visiting again

My boyfriend and I were recently in San Diego and found this place. I’m so glad I did. (It’s funny bc a week ago we had a conversation about how much I wanted that “wow I would drive 20+ hours for this” vegan food.) This is a restaurant I would drive 20+ hours for :) the waitress and other workers had the kindest service I’ve ever had. I hope everyone, even if they’re not vegan has an opportunity to try this food bc it really was that great.

The won ton soup is delicious, and the take out container separates the won tons so they don’t get soggy before you get home! Both the broth and won tons are so tasty, I will crave this soup forever.The woman behind the counter explained that they make all their vegan meat substitutes themselves which I’m impressed by too. I want to try most of the menu!

Extremely solid Thai food, and everything on the menu is now vegan, gluten free, and delicious. As a fair warning, the portion sizes are on the smaller side. This does not take away from the great flavor this food offers.The staff there are attentive, quick, and could very well be the nicest people on the planet.They keep the curtains shut when we were there for lunch in June, maybe to keep it cooler? I think it would be nice to open them to both let more light in and clearly show that the restaurant is open. My date and I, as well as another set of customers, thought the place was closed when walking up to the door.Regardless, I’m going back at the very least to get a taste of that apple-lemon-magic water they serve and try the bahn mi. We cannot wait to visit again in a week and take a friend with us!

I visited my best friend from Utah, and she took me here. The food was SO good. I cant even decide what my favorite was. Just try one of everything because youll regret if you dont. The dishes are so flavorful and have so much depth. Special shout out to the desserts - theyre amazing.The people who run this place are so generous and sweet, and a huge part about what makes it so great. If Im back in San Diego, Ill be back! Thank you so much for this gem of a restaurant (with a HUGE menu).

BEST RESTAURANT EVER. I’m vegan and my girlfriend is gluten free celiac, and this place was PERFECT for the two of us and is a hidden gem for celiacs. The website doesn’t explicitly say it, but the entire restaurant is gluten free - but non gluten free folks, don’t worry! Genuinely you will NOT be able to tell. Bread on the Banh Mi was the best gluten free bread I’ve ever had and tasted just like real bread. I’ve been vegan for 6 years now and had crispy tempura shrimp that my girlfriend said tasted just like the real thing! (And it’s made from scratch in house!). We also shared the pork belly Banh Mi which was DELICIOUS meat and the bread was so fluffy and crispy on the outside. Then we had the soft duck bao bun which was great in texture just like the real thing and loaded with a peanut sauce. Lastly we had the eggless stir fry noodles with teriyaki sesame chicken which was sooo good and allowed my girlfriend to have a lo mein style dish for the first time in years! To top it off, our waitress was so sweet and funny and gave us free desserts to end the meal. The cheesecake tasted just like the real thing and was so creamy, and the Flan was so delicious and the first time I’ve had flan since going vegan, which this Mexican reviewer has missed so much! Crime Brûlée was also delicious. Needless to say, Thanh Tinh Chay was the most delicious restaurant I’ve been to, and you would never guess that it meets everyone’s dietary needs. Oh, and the spa water they give you is so fresh and addicting! We’ll be driving back to San Diego from LA just for this spot again.

After seeing several recommendations for Thanh Tinh Chay on the San Diego Vegans Facebook group page, I decided today was the day we would go check it out.We walked into a cute and cozy seating area where we were greeted right away, asked if weve ever been there, and if we were vegan. (I am, my boyfriend is not). Right away we were brought this amazing water and the waitress gave us a run down of the menu favorites and told us a lot of fun facts about how the food is made! They told us that everything is 100% vegan, gluten-free, MSG free, and made in-house. The waitress was so nice and really knowledgeable about the menu and gave great suggestions on what to order. We ordered the sampler appetizer that had sticky rice buns, steamed rice cake, and 2 other items that I cant remember the names of. The steamed rice cakes were by far our favorite but it was all delicious. We also got fried wontons that were fried perfectly crisp.Luckily for us, we stopped in on a Thursday, which is when the new owner Helen visits the store. So glad we got to meet her! She was not only incredibly friendly, but after talking to her for a few minutes you can easily see how passionate she is about not only cooking vegan, but HEALTHY vegan food! She (as well as the waitress) were so attentive to us and asked how everything was, if we needed anything, etc.Onto the entrees. We were torn on what to order as everything looked soooo good (their menu has pictures-huge plus). Helen and the waitress (I wish I got her name), suggested the dan dan noodles and the Helen noodles (maybe shes biased lol) both dishes were really flavorful and delicious.Helen hooked us up with a bunch of little vegan desserts she makes herself! We got a cheesecake and a flan first, and had them while waiting for the check. Like everything else, it was sooooo delicious!!!Its so hard to find vegan options where I am (Chula Vista) let alone a fully vegan restaurant. Even better that its Vietnamese food because I dont really know anywhere else that I could enjoy it veganized. My only complaint is I wish there were more locations... Chula Vista preferably :)

This is the best Vietnamese vegetarian restaurant Ive been to in San Diego. The meat here tastes just like real meat. They have a variety of options. You can pretty much get all of your favorite Vietnamese dishes in vegetarian versions here.

Absolutely incredible authentic Vietnamese establishment with a fully plant-based menu right in the heart of Little Saigon. Everything tasted just like how I remember the non-vegan versions to be before I became vegan. The ingredients were all so fresh and flavorful. All of their mock meats are made in-house too. Very impressive!! The service was also top-notch. We were immediately greeted by friendly staff right as we walked through the door. They were attentive and truly went above and beyond for all of their customers and even served complimentary sweet treats after our dinner. The owner is SO sweet and welcoming and took the time to ensure everyone was enjoying their meals.Even if you’re not vegan, I promise you will enjoy the food and the welcoming atmosphere!! Do not sleep on this place. :)

First of all, the water here is amazing! It’s infused with lychee and a certain type of apple. It’s delicious and free. Everything my friend and I ordered was great—banh mi, udon soup, lemongrass tofu. It was all very fresh and clean tasting. I really enjoyed my meal and the atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and they also gave us numerous desserts to try. Certainly recommend (for vegans and omnivores alike)!

This place is amazing. The menu is huge so there is something for everyone, Ive asked the servers for their recommendations and theyve given great tips. The service is incredible, the staff is friendly and kind. Its so delicious and its all made in-house. The food here is incredible, worth going back to multiple times. Their little desserts are amazing, and they are so kind and generous with them. What makes this place very special aside from the delicious food the wonderful service. Spicy scale isnt too spicy, so if your spice tolerance is high Id go closer to 10.

I’m not vegan but I really enjoyed this place. The food was incredible and the service was very attentive. We got the crispy pork + bbq pork Bahn mi, and the duck dumpling soup, highly recommend both! We got to sample some of their deserts, which were delicious and we really enjoyed.

Amazing from start to finish!! The service? Wow!! The food? Outstanding!!! Everything was so good!! The water is the best ever!!! Ive included pictures of what I remembered to capture before the food was demolished by our hungry stomachs. Im not vegan. This place is amazing and fresh and the employees are so great!! First, the owner and staff are incredibly friendly and super passionate about their restaurant. They take pride in the dishes they make and you can taste it! Great food and wonderful service, we’ll definitely be back. The owner greeted us (she’s usually here on Fridays) and talked to us about the water (a house special infusion), the history (started about 2 years ago) and the dishes (all kinds of housemade tofu and bread). The thought and care for the ingredients really shines through in the food. The flavors in the Dan Dan noodles were amazing and it was the perfect spice level for us. I loved the bread on the pork buns and the chicken spring rolls were good too, though the crispy chicken was essentially fried tofu skins. I’m excited to come back and try to lotus salad, special fried rice, eggplant chicken, and something with their bread! It’s a bit expensive for the portion sizes but still something I’d come back for, especially for a special occasion.

This is some of the best Vietnamese food I’ve ever had, vegan or otherwise. It’s hard to replicate the fish sauce flavor in Vietnamese dishes but they did a superb job with the bun hue. The broth was so fragrant and delicious. So glad they had the combo steam cakes so I didn’t have to choose between all those delicious appetizers! I only wish I had found this restaurant earlier in my trip instead of on the last day. Good thing they had a bunch of delicious to-go items in the fridge and near the register!Not pictured is the vegan crème brûlée. It was worth every penny. I devoured it as soon as I got home and had room in my stomach for more deliciousness. I wouldn’t have known it was vegan because the texture and flavor was perfection.The owner and entire staff was also super friendly and passionate about the food. I was looking for vegan options and came through this restaurant that offers vegan Vietnamese food, high rated and wanted to give it a try. Went there on Friday night, it was packed but luckily we got a table for 4. Ordered Helens wrap which was recommended by the owner herself, the wrap was OK, not too great in taste. Ordered the Bun, Pho, soy chicken with rice, lemon grass tofu. The best was the vegan vegetable Pho.. It was light, not too salty, just perfect 👌 bun were good too . The owner and the staff were really sweet, they offered us free dessert in the end. And packed few desserts to take back with us (flan and moong pudding). Everything is homemade and made with love and care. Good customer service! And not to forget the refreshing water they serve in the beginning... Too good! Made with lychee, cucumber, apples, lemon etc. Do come and check this place atleast once :-)

This vegan Vietnamese restaurant is superb. It landed in the top 100 vegan restaurants in US and Canada by yelp. Many delicious entrées, rolls, desserts. I came to appreciate Vietnamese food when introduced to it by fellow programmers of Vietnamese extract 15 years back. There’s a lot of love that goes into the food - the dumplings were wrapped fresh and made to order, the homemade bread is baked every day, and even the water is fused with fruit and incredibly tasty.Everything we ate was awesome!Service: Overall fantastic and welcoming. Im not a vegan or a vegetarian, but I do appreciate good food all around. And, the results are in.... Yes, I was pretty satisfied with the two dishes I had here. I had the Steam Rice Cake as an appetizer. The chewy texture and toppings went well together. And I also had the duck wonton soup, which I dont think is listed on the website menu. But, it is listed on the menu at the actual restaurant. Super savory and delicious. And I am amazed how the vegan dishes here truly show great Vietnamese ingredients and innovation, which can only result in a happy meal. Only improvement I can suggest is the service. It was a little slow, but it is a mom and pop shop, so be a little patient. Its worth it. You may or may not get a sweet surprise!

If I could eat here every day, I would not be bored, even as an omnivore. This place is a gem. Ive been to some of the most celebrated restaurants in the world, and I find myself long for the food here. The flavors are subtle yet complex, starting with the amount of detail they put into something as simple as the water they serve you. they provide naturally flavored (with apple!) water, many tiny desserts after the meal.Despite being vegan, they are serious about sharing Vietnamese food and culture and does an amazing job replicating the aromas, textures, and profiles of classic dishes. The prices reflect the care and quality of ingredients that go into the meals, and are absolutely worthwhile. All the mock meats are made in-house.Do not miss out, whether you are vegan or not.

The restaurant has a wonderful welcoming vibe. The owner Tranh was very friendly and told us of how they make the food. I ordered Lemongrass tofu as an appetizer and It was very tasty. I have never had something quite yummy like that. They immediately bring you metal glasses that keep your drinks cold and they serve you iced lime water sweetened with other fruits! Just that was worth the visit! I had a plant based beef stew with home made vegan bread (no yeast, no eggs) that could rival any baguette in Paris! I drank about two liters of that delicious drink and not once was my glass empty. Service is always great always with a smile. To welcome us there because it was our first (but not last) time there, we got a little pineapple puff pastry and a vegan flan made with coconut and tofu and also could rival any flan in Mexico! No wonder it is one of the top ten vegan restaurants in the USA! I only hesitate to make this contribution because I fear it will become too popular and I will not be able to be seated immediately upon arrival, yet, it is so good, how could I not write about it.

Absolutely LOVED Thanh Tinh Chay Vegan Restaurant!! Such a wonderful experience and DELICIOUS vegan food! It was our first time trying it out and we will definitely be returning & bringing friends and family here to experience it for themselves. Since it was our first time at Thanh Tinh Chay Vegan Restaurant, our waitress gave us an assortment of desserts for free, too! There were a whole bunch of desserts and all of them were delicious - an assortment of a peanut brittle, something chewy & chocolate-y (tasted like it was made from dates), a custard/pudding, sweet mung beans with a coconut cream, and a coconut & pandan jelly desserts to-go.5/5 stars! Helen the owner is amazing. Starting with the water (read about this) through the spring rolls, the stir fry, the noodles, the fried rice to the dessert soup (good for sleep, good for the skin) as well as the most amazing I can’t believe it’s not cheesecake cheesecake. I have tried many vegan options and they really don’t come close to real cheesecake. However, Helen’s cheesecake is exactly like the best cheesecake! Truly unbelievable. If you have never been able to eat real cheesecake before, know that this is just what it tastes like.All the ingredients were so fresh and good. The sauces were perfect. All the different forms of tofu were amazing (it was just a little off-putting to have to choose “pork, chicken, beef, shrimp” etc, even though you know it won’t be in there. But the breaded ones the fried ones the braised, they were all delicious.My favorite part that I always hope to get in an Asian restaurant? Wok-blackened noodles or rice. You know, not burned but that real-flavor stir fried that you can’t get on your electric stove at home? It was the most perfectly done, sorry I don’t know what it’s called, but anyway it was all delicious!

I would give this a 10-star if the option were available.I stumbled onto this gem during my mini vacation. The vibe of the restaurant was cozy and home-y. Every dish sold in this restaurant is vegetarian/vegan.I ordered #45 Thanh Toan House Special rice plate and #26 Combo Steam Cake. If my stomach has bigger room, Id order EVERYTHING. #40 Filet Mignon Banh Mi with white onion is definitely the next on my list. All of them were soooooooo flavorful, unique and delicious. Every dish is homemade using their secret recipe.The staff here was friendly and genuine. They made me feel like home. They even treated me with, well, TREATS!!! Not one but two!!! This vegan flan was so richly flavored with coconut. The sticky rice pudding with red bean and coconut cream was delicious! Besides yummy and delicious, I dont know enough vocabs to describe my experience.At the end of the meal, I was informed that when the weather was cooperating, (organic) produce used here was home grown. When it was not, the owner ordered produce from Whole Foods. I also learned that the water they served contained a lot of good stuffs in it - apple juice, lemon juice, mint leaves & many more which I didnt remember. It was supposed to have detoxifying effect.My goodness!!! Come try it and you would share my excitement!!! Vegetarian dishes can be fun, unique and, well, delicious!!!

We stupidly did not realize that this was a vegan place, but were instantly informed as we were greeted by the hostess about the restaurant. All of the staff were incredibly nice and sweet.You can tell that they were proud of this restaurant because they were very eager to tell us about how their water is made (cucumber and some other ingredients that don’t have sugar but is very healthy). We order a Bahn Mi sandwich and it was fantastic. The French bread was incredibly crispy and good which caught us off guard because it was gluten free.Parking lot behind the store seems to be a little small, but easy enough to find a spot on the road alongside it.Would definitely come back here if in need of Vegan food

Me and my family along with two of our friends went out to this amazing Thai food restaurant, influenced by all of this positive and detailed reviews. Needless to say, the food and the service (right down to the heavenly water) did not disappoint. Most of us ordered the stir fried noodle dishes, just with different protein options, but we also ordered a portion of the exquisitely authentic chicken. Me and my family have been vegan for many years now, even owning a restaurant of our own. With that being said, the overall experience and taste of this mouthwatering Thai paradise was one of a kind and earns its spot to be well at the top, above any other vegan food we’ve tried.I don’t write these kinds of reviews very often, but this place blew me away more than many other stops so I was compelled

Im am nothing but surprised. I ordered #5, #10, and #108; each one was absolutely amazing! I am not vegan in anyway honestly, but this nearly had me convert. Vietnamese food is always amazing, but this vegan version was mind-blowing! They make everything on the menu from scratch. You can tell in the texture and flavor that the meals are made with pride and a love for the craft. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The customer service is very well represented, they ensure that each customer has the best experience possible.There is limited parking, but that is not surprising in San Diego.

We had this place catered a wedding ceremony at a Buddhist temple and they did an amazing job! The delivery was on time. The food was delicious and satisfying and included free dessert! Since then we’ve returned to have dinner and tried other items on their menu and are very impressed. Highly recommend if you are in town. The staff is friendly too :)

One time at this place and it has become my favorite vegan restaurant in San Diego. Everything exceeded my expectations. Every dish we ordered was tasty and the service was amazing! Staff here are extremely friendly and kind. Very impressed by their mock meats and homemade egg-less “egg” noodles. We were told everything they use is organic and homemade. It’s so rare to find a gluten-free dedicated establishment in San Diego. I’m also dairy-free, so not having to worry about dairy or gluten puts this place at the top of my list. The food is ridiculously good. All the people I’ve brought here have been equally amazed. Helen, the owner, is very welcoming, and the server I’ve always had is very attentive and polite. Then, they give you dessert. You may laugh at the small portion, but if you’re food restricted like me and you try the cheesecake or crème brûlée, I can’t imagine you’d be anything short of amazed. Sure, the location isn’t great. In the grand scheme of things, I don’t think that matters all that much. Go for the food and you’ll want to got back again and again.

This place blew my mind! Dinner here was one of the best meals Ive eaten in San Diego since moving here 2 months ago, and Ive eaten at a lot of restaurants. Our server, Trang, was so friendly and helpful, and she told us about the background of the restaurant and recommended dishes.We started with the bánh bèo (savory steamed rice cakes), then got the beef noodle salad and roasted duck soup with egg noodle. Everything was PHENOMENAL. This place is a MUST VISIT especially if youre Vegan/Vegetarian! Been coming here since they opened and had their menus printed on composition books. This is the same type of food you will find at Buddhist temples when they serve meals for the monks and their congregation.Vietnamese in style but flavor from out of this world you have to come in and enjoy it. Found out about this place because of Facebook and am so impressed! The food is delicious authentic Vietnamese and all vegan with the exception of a few items. The items are all healthy too and there is a great variety of vegan meat options. This pho soup is the best vegan pho I have tried because of the variety of vegan meat options versus just tofu which is what I usually expect. The homemade dumpling (pictured on top made with tofu skin and vegetables), vegan beef and a fried crispy topping make this pho quite unique! Other pho soup broths are usually too salty to me but this broth just tastes so fresh. They start you off with a water made with red apple, lychee and other fruits so it is naturally sweet. I really liked it! The server told me the owner is a nurse (I think she mentioned that) who wants to create food that is healthy and nourishing.The service was phenomenal! I did not know this restaurant was vegan but that wasnt a problem. I wanted some banh mi, and they were kind enough to gift me some desserts since I had also bought their packaged fried bean curd with lemongrass. We wanted Vietnamese food, but something different than the usual and found this place listed with high ratings...but for some weird reason, I missed the vegan part...its ALL vegan. The server immediately managed our expectations by telling us up front that there is absolutely no meat. We gave it a try with open minds...and so very glad we did. My wife and I went stopped by to have lunch at Thanh Tinh Chay the other day and we really enjoyed ourselves. We hadn’t had the chance to dine here in over a year as we’ve really just started going out to eat again and we’re already talking about when we’ll go back. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the friendly staff and our server, Trang. Trang informed us that all of the food was 100% organic and 100% vegan. Now, my wife and I are not vegan but we really appreciate delicious vegan food. At Thanh Tinh Chay they have the flavors figured out.We ordered the Lotus Salad to share and I ordered the vegan version of Bún bò Huế. I was pleasantly surprised with the balance of savory, slight salty, slightly sweet broth. The tofu ingredients acting as “meat” have nice textures and really bring the dish together when eaten with the fresh veggies that are served on the side. The lotus salad was probably my favorite. It’s a dish that I love to order out because it’s a lot of work to make it at home so when it’s made well, it’s so worth it. It was such a nice burst of flavor and each bite was so crunchy. I love spicy and every once in a while, you get a small bite of thai chili that gives you just the kick you’re looking for…my mouth is watering just talking about it. A definite must try! Plus, it’s served with vegan fish sauce, made fresh in house. I don’t know how they do it but I was very impressed with the similarity in flavor to a non vegan fish sauce.When we were done, Trang served us some complimentary house made vegan desserts. My favorite was the Vietnamese chè made with mung bean and coconut milk. What was great about it was that I love dessert but I don’t like when they’re too sweet and this was just right. I could seriously eat it everyday! So delicious.If you haven’t already, give Than Tinh Chay a try! You won’t be disappointed. Trang informed us that all of the food is made fresh every day. They don’t make food in advance and freeze…they just make what they believe they will need for the day. I really admire their commitment to serving the best to their customers. This is my favorite San Diego eatery, and one of my all-time favorite restaurants. The owners are so enthusiastic about their delicious offerings, and very kind with their welcoming family service. What a welcoming place! It is on a busy street but by the moment you go in you experience a sense of calmness, the music is very zen and they serve you complimentary hot tea. They have a parking lot on 46th st if you cant find street parking. This is a vegetarian place and all of the items in the menu are $5 or less which is absolutely astounding for the delicious big size entrees you get. We had the spring rolls and the dumplings for appetizers which were both delicious, I could eat so many of those dumplings!!! Then we had the lemongrass rice and the dry vermicelli for our entrees which were also really good! Im not much for imitation meat but they had a crunchy savory one on the vermicelli that blew my mind, kinda tasted like fried pork skin which was one of my favorite things to eat before i turned vegan. The service was very friendly and on point, we will definitely be coming back!!! This is a great small hidden gem!

Authentic Vietnamese that’s all plant-based is hard to come by and Thanh Tinh knocks it out of the park. Special shoutout to the hostess, Theng, who was so good at describing the ingredients as well as the process used to achieve the perfect blend of taste and texture for each of the dishes.Since I was a vegetarian for a long, long time before turning vegan, I do not particularly care for the texture to approximate beef, pork, and chicken, but the way that the tofu was cooked did justice to each of those three meats respectively in the 3 different dishes we tried. And the Crème Brûlée was just out of this world! A little slice of heaven. Its difficult to find a vegan place, and I least expected to find it in mid-city. It was a wonderful surprise and I am definitely planning on coming back.My husband and I got the spring rolls, the bbq pork bahn mi, and the Helen buns. Even if you arent vegan, you cant deny the food is delicious. The 4.9 stars speaks for itself.

First time going the other day because a friend recommended it, and I was not disappointed! Flavors were so well balanced and portion sizes were generous for the prices. I ordered the Bún Thanh Toàn (Vermicelli rice noodle bowl) and the Lotus Salad. I also got 2 coconut jelly desserts for desserts which I dont believe are on the menu but are in a fridge you can choose from in the actual restaurant. The super sweet lady who took my order even threw in a chocolate pudding for free! Food was so good I forgot to take photos. Really looking forward to going back!
