Just amazing!! Love that there is options but it’s not a huge menu. Fish tacos, Mac n cheese and wings hit the spot!! Was wanting to try the pho but it’s not available during the summer. Our server was sweet and it was great that you could seat yourself. The atmosphere was nice, could make for a great date night, spot to hang with friends or wanting to grab a drink!

Lots of beer options on tap.Ordered the Chicken Philly and the Banh-mi style pork tacos. Chicken Philly was ok. The tacos were very good. Enjoyed the flavors.Had to wait a little before finding a spot at the bar. This was at 6pm on a Saturday so I guess the place gets busy.

The atmosphere was cool! The service; amazing! The food was BEST!! They offer a vietnamese bahn mi with pho dipping sauce, basically as if it were a french dip. DEFINITELY recommend! If you like more of a crunch, ask for extra pickles and thank me later!

I’ve had a better burger at the am/pm in oroville. Salty and super overpriced. These are the same bulk frozen fries as kalico kitchen and cozy diner. Ranch seasoned water. Super weak, I’ll just cook at home next time. Thanks downtown Chico.

Excellent food. Their mac & cheese should be a national institution, and I dont even eat public-comsumption mac & cheese! The beverage selection alone is worth coming in, but this is some of the best food in Chico!Not best bar food in Chico, but literally just some of the best food in town. Go. Eat. Drink. I visited for the first time today. The food was really good. The fries were so crispy and perfect, i usually don’t like steak fries that much because they are soft but I loved these. The fish tacos that my friend ordered also looked amazing. We wanted to go for the pho but they happened to be out of it. I still really enjoyed what I ordered.

Aa I live out of town I havent had the chance to grab something to eat here, although the menu looks fantastic. Usually, I just drop in for a drink or two. The place is great and always lively. The staff and bartenders are always nice and especially patient with us customers. Definitely recommend.

This place is hands down best food that you will find at any bar in Chico. They use quality ingredients and have a great menu that is simple. The menu options are all delicious, and the cooks that work here seem to have a culture amongst themselves. If you are traveling through and visiting downtown, you owe it to yourself to drop by this establishment and try them out.

IMO, the best tasting pho broth in Chico. You wouldnt expect it. We ordered garlic fries, then the pho-rench dip as well as a bowl of noodles pho. Everything is fresh and will be returning. Great service as well!

The place was super crowded and hot outside - we walked in to order few burgers take away, my dog was sleeping under table after long hike. Very nice waitress passed few times and pet her. Then some guy appeared - probably manager ? Waiter? and I asked if could have some water for the dog while we are waiting. He was super rude, said he doesnt want clients to slip on the water and literally throw us away. I was shocked. Shame cause heard food is good, but happily there are other good burger places in town. We had no chance to try.

Not young enough to use the term, but hey here it goes...this place is a vibe. My vibe for sure. Love the atmosphere, super friendly staff, and to top it all off...actual unique dishes. Specifically speaking the French dip that is a Banh Mi with a Pho broth for dipping. Game changer! Loved it. Partner loved their Mac and cheese as well.

Got parking right in front. Score! I was there with 3 friends and we were able to snag 2 tables side-by-side at 11:30 am. Each table serves 2. There wasnt a lot of seating in the area where we ate. I dont know if there is outside seating in the back.I asked for iced tea. The server came back with a glass not quite 2/3 full. They were out and that was it. There wouldnt be more. Odd to be out of iced tea in Chico in the summer, but I guess the assumption was that most of the customers drink beer from what looks like a large assortment of brews. Thats OK, what about coffee? No, we dont do coffee. Water it was for all of us.I ordered the Braised Brisket Pho-Rench Dip, as did one of my companions. Another ordered a Quesadilla. The food arrived fairly quickly and we were served by at least 3 different people to ensure that the food arrived at the same time for all of us. I appreciated that.The food was delicious, with half a sandwich to take home. Other menu items sound good for future visits. Im told their Mac and Cheese is really good.The server could have been better. I had to think about it before I came to that conclusion. For example, at the end of our meal, I realized that all of our water glasses were empty. I dont recall being offered additional water. I cant remember for sure if our server checked on us during the meal, but I didnt leave with the feeling that our server had been attentive.Good food, meh service.

Food service is excellent! Mac-N-Cheese is sinfully fu-king awesome! Both Cajun & Garlic fries are fu-king rad! Atmosphere is great! The pho French dip is out of this world awesome, the duck fat fries are delicious, this restaurant was also featured on Guy Fieris Diners Drive-Ins and Dives its a must-try! Currently they have indoor and outdoor seating and the duck fat fries are no longer on their menu but you can get them at B-street Public around the corner. I think same owner.

The Aussie Burger is the best burger Ive had in a long time! Patty was seasoned/cooked perfectly, fried egg ✔️ cheddar cheese ✔️bacon✔️bun is delish✔️ and I added on the pickled beets root✔️ and skinny sliced red onion ✔️... Ate the pickles on the side 😁. Add to it the duck fat fries and it was a glorious meal! Have never had a bad meal here. Great beer selection and great pub vibe.

We walked in and went to the bar to grab a menu. The waitress stopped by took out order and brought our drinks. Shortly after my girlfriend got her salad and that was it. We waited an hour before the waitress stopped by again to ask how the meal was. We told her we got the salad and nothing else. She was confused, but figured out the lost our ticket. It took almost 40 more minutes to get our food. The stuff was very apologetic. They even gave us 50% off our meal. Dispute the initial service being poor, the food was amazing, and the portion was far bigger than I expected. It seems ordering a half sandwich is the way to go. Most people who ordered a full sandwich took the second half to go.

I dont want to share much, because seating is not always readily available. I have not had a bad meal regardless of the menu item. I even started enjoying pastrami which I thought I hated! The pho is the best, but really everything on the menu is the best!Update: Just went back and had our meals at the bar. It was busy so by the time the bartender got to us we have drinks and food order ready, and so was he! The Guinness is the best pour in Chico! The food was still spot on, I had a California burger with cheese and avocado with fries. It was huge and I see a good value knowing I have left overs that would also fill me. My partner had the pork tacos. The two tacos were a huge meal in itself! Still a fan!

The food was really expensive. $18.50 for a hamburger and an additional $4.00 for French fries and it was just a burger, nothing special. The fish tacos were good, but nothing special and overpriced for what you get. Prices have gone to the point of ridiculous all over, I get it, but some places serve quality and at least I feel like it was worth it.

The food here is absolutely amazing. I have never been disappointed. Definitely recommend the black and blu burger and Mac n cheese with added bacon and Jalapeños!! Great service, the staff is very friendly and welcoming. If youve never been you must know that the restaurant is in a bar. Dont be intimidated when walking in. You can order at the bar or sit down at a table to order. If youre interested in watching any sport games they have multiple large flat screen tvs displayed. 10/10 recommended.

We hit this place for lunch during my sons college visit. Saying its awesome bar food isnt enough - its just damn good food! My wifes Reuben was really tasty, but my banh mi pulled pork tacos were fantastic - absolutely captured the sour-sweet-spicy banh mi vibe, but then the pulled pork was fantastic and generous. I couldnt knock down a beer before our drive back to the Bay Area (obvi) but the list was impressive - 20-plus on draft, plus a formidable liquor selection filling the wall. Will absolutely be back, and hopefully for more than just a quick lunch! Highly recommend.

Went out tonight with a bunch of coworkers.Orders 2 sets of fries, 2 mixed drinks, and a non alcoholic beer. Also order their famous Mac and cheese with bacon.An hour goes by. No Mac and cheese. Go to reorder it, same bartender states that he didnt charge me for it. I paid cash. Last time here using cash, or anything.Did the math, I ended up paying for 2 Mac n cheese, got only one, very late, because at this time we were moving to another location.To top it off, the quality of food and speed od service has dropped off immensely from this summer, let alone years ago.Ive been saying for years this place is overrated, and they just lost a couple thousand monthly from the Enloe ED staff over this and other slights.Would not go again.

I ordered Two pork tacos without mayo spice sauce they had to take them back twice to make without sauce, the pork tasted as if it had water. Suggestion carnitas would be better for this dish. To the manager present today at 5:30pm I hope you see this and know how bad you made my friend John and I feel, nothing is an excuse to yell and mistreat and older guy in front of others saying dont you understand to him your attitude was the worst with him and with me when i reclaimed you at the end, there was a bad silence around us for 10 minutes i felt so bad that i had to take the food home and i wanted to eat there. If you want to get cocktails and beers in a pub setting in Chico but dont want to experience the rowdy party-atmosphere in so many of the other bars, this is the place. This place is more for the graduate students in compared to the undergrads, to use a fitting college-analogy. The food is excellent and I always had a great time here getting beers with friends. Whether you go for simple Mac & Cheese or something more exotic like their Phò-inspired Braised Brisket Pho-rench dip sandwich (pro tip: dip your fries in the broth), this little pub has variety that’s sure to please. It has a full bar with a solid beer selection. If you’re in downtown Chico, try Banshee. You won’t be disappointed.

My wife had a chicken or turkey pesto sandwich that was also very good. The fries were the best Ive had in ages. The Ice-T was very good too. The service was fine. Great place. Everything we had was delicious. We had the California burger, breakfast tacos, the brisket pho-dip, pastrami bomb deluxe and pork ban-mi tacos oh and the garlic fries as an appetizer. Like I said everything was delicious. The staff was very friendly and excellent with any questions we had along with quick service. Would definitely eat here again the next time we get down that direction.

Love this place!! Its size is bitter-sweet (more sweet than bitter.)This is one of my favorite Bar/Restaurants in Chico. This is primarily because it is a great bar; with great food. I personally recommend the Mac-n-Cheese. I get grief from colleagues and friends because of how much I order it.As a bar, they have a great beer selection, and full service bar. You can belly-up, sit down, or just stand and converse (depending on the time of year/day... standing may be the only option... if you know Chico... you know this is expected.)I do wish it were just a little bit bigger, but it may be a blessing in disguise that it isnt... I dont need to have that much Mac-n-Cheese.

Very much a pub. The food is authentic. Friend of mine lived in Philly and swears this is the only place outside Philly hes had an authentic cheese steak.This is a place for grown up dates as its pretty noisy and not designed for kids.Only downside being its on the smaller side and pretty popular, so seating can be hard to come by.Staff is super friendly and down to earth.

Banshee might be my new favorite pub in Chico. The food was excellent with good portions. Their bacon onion jam burger was one of the best I have had. I have heard their Mac N Cheese is also delicious, but I havent tried that yet - maybe next time. They had a good selection of beer on tap, although the chalkboard they used to display their beer menu was almost unreadable due to the poor lighting. The staff was friendly and attentive and offered drink suggestions and samples. Their isnt a lot of seating so you may have to wait for a table if you go at a peak time, but its worth the wait.

Biggest complaint was the way you order food, you have to go up to the bar for both food and drinks. It is really awkward cause there isnt really a designated spot to order so you have to find a gap in the bar, you also have to seat yourself and if you wanted more food or anything you have to go back to the bar. It is really awkward to stand waiting for a bartender to order through. The food is awesome and the people are nice but there is no real reason why there cant be a traditional waitress, it is never explained. Again, loved the place but it was just an odd experience.

This is a great little bar tucked away downtown drinks are reasonably priced and it’s a bit of a “hipster hang out”. They play some really good music in there if you’re into the 80s Smiths, Cure, Joy Division, type of scene which I do like! There’s also sports on the TVs if that’s what you’re looking for. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because the food is decent but 15 bucks for a small bowl of mac n’ cheese with some bacon in it is pretty steep considering what you’re getting. Same thing with quesadillas or fish and chips. I recommend the pho or burgers for the best bang for your buck meal. Not to mention everything is quality here and you do get what you pay for. Service can be hit or miss, no worries, order another pint. They know how to pour Guinness here correctly so that’s a major plus! No complaints, staff is friendly as well as the customers. I also understand food pricing has to consider the current times with COVID. Nothing but love for the Banshee!

I’d never been in here before despite living in Chico for 34 years, I always thought it was just a bar. Well, was I surprised! I highly recommend the Black & Blue Burger and the Pastrami Bomb. If your vegetarian, like my wife, they have a Portable Burger even carnivores will enjoy.The service is pretty good overall. My wife and I decided to give this place a try after seeing it on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. As soon as we walked in we were surprised that it really didnt look anything like it did on the show. It was very dark and obviously it was a bar not a restaurant. I know they address this on the show but it looked more like a bar / restaurant instead of a bar that serves some food. there was no one there to greet us or tell us where we could sit so we decided to sit ourselves. We only found one open table and it was dirty. We asked one of the staff members to clean it and she kept telling us she would in a minute. She continuously walk back and forth next to our table however never stopped clean it. At this point I was going to clean it myself when a different staff member came over and cleaned it. there was no menus and they asked us to order before even letting us see what they serve. After asking for menus we placed our order. My wife had the fish tacos and I had the pulled pork sandwich. The food took quite a long time and I was quite surprised at the slow service. There were several tables around us that were also complaining about how bad the service was. Several of the guests at the other tables got up and went and found their own menus because the staff was not bringing the men you just as they did not bring us menus. Once they finally brought our food we advised them that we did not have napkins or forks and were told that they were in a bucket on the table. This bucket was empty and we had to find staff to go get us napkins and forks. The food was sufficient but nothing special. I was very surprised as I expected a more. My wife said the fish tacos were pretty good but nothing to write home about. My pulled pork sandwich had very little flavor and it was not spicy in anyway even though its called The Spicy pulled pork sandwich. It tasted like something you would get from Applebees. the service was the biggest issue though. Even after we were done eating we had to ask someone to get us a check because they would not come check on you at all. The guest next to us had the same problem finally just went to a manager complained about not getting a check and just gave them a debit card and said just to charge them so they can leave. So all in all I would say this is a bar not a restaurant and two go there with the expectations of going to a bar. The food is nothing special and you might as well just go to Applebees. The service is absolutely horrendous and be prepared to Serve Yourself. Very disappointingI might have just got a bad night because there seemed to be an issue with the staff. The two female waitresses seem to be arguing with each other and one of them even went and complained to the male waitress who very loudly yelled at her that he did not care. They appear to have some issues tonight.

We ordered 4 of the same sandwich not a hard order. When questioned where the last sandwich was she said the kitchen was busy yet when I asked one of the runners for the side so I had something to eat while everyone enjoyed their sandwiches she accused me of trying to get a free side. I paid the bill bitterly and left only to noticed they charged me for a bottle of wine when we just had a glass. Went back in to get it fixed and the manager guy charged $2.43 in a credit card adjust fee to fix their mistake. I was too upset to argue with the guy. The service here is beyond horrible. We never even got a chance to order a second round and we were thirsty! I decided to give the banshee 3 stars because I was torn. I will start with the positive.The food is THE BEST FOOD IN TOWN. The quesadilla, the Pho which is better than any other pho I have had ! I was wanting fish tacos and was driving through Chico. I googled and The Banshee came up. They dont do phone in orders so I got directions from GOOGLE MAPS and I was never so excited that it sent me exactly where a person should go for fish tacos. I ordered 2 at the bar to go. When I opened the box I was shocked. Those 2 tacos were huge! They use 2 white corn tortillas and in each was a large piece of fried fish, it was smothered in lettuce and I believe cabbage with fresh jalapeno peppers all chopped fine. On the side is sliced lime and fesh jalapenos. That first bite I knew I had to share with all of you Banshees fish tacos. I could barely finish the second one they are so big! They serve the Tacos and Burgers till 12 AM. Stop here for your fish tacos it is so worth it! They also had a menu wth just beers available which was 2 sided & a menu but I never even looked at it. Great place, staff, beer, and food. The jalapeño Mac and cheese is 👌. Only down side it’s so good it’s always packed. May have to wait a little bit, but worth it. Seating on the other hand is going to be hard to get.

Never ate there, but I find it insulting when you are trying to infuse two cuisine and only one of them is really what it is. Banh MI in Vietnamese means bread. And banh mi taco is just a taco. There is no banh mi (bread) thats like me throwing some marinara sauce on a taco shell and call it spaghetti taco. You should name your banh mi taco something else like Asian tacos. Cant fried up eggs and call it sausage, you know what I mean.

We went their with our family two times. And both the times nobody came to us and help us. We just went in their stood and stare at people and the employees and came outside. Very poor customer service. It took me months to write them a review. As they have gained a popularity, now they care less for new customers. Very poor management and staff.

Hidden gem in downtown Chico. Mac and cheese has a skirt of cheese. The burgers are big, bold and beautiful. Its a tad loud and seating is limited, but definitely worth it.

Usually this place is my ride or die after dinner. The Male bartenders, all 3 were cold, rude, and apparently hard of hearing. When I was hoping to change the mood by being kind they told me they were all exhausted because they had all worked double shifts. I cant imagine the owner imposing this on his employees because he is awesome every time I go there.

Super lame place. The bartenders were complete jerks. They act like you are bothering them whenever you try to order something. They would hangout with their friends at the end of the bar and check in every half hour or so and not even ask if you would like another drink or if you need anything. Will not be visiting again..
