We recently had lunch with friends at the Black Cow Cafe in Montrose, CA, and it was a delightful experience. Great place. And extremely busy. Its a definite recommendation. However, if you dont like a lot of noise, you may want to be seated outside and not in the main room or go at a less busy time. We went during the lunch rush. The decor was nice, but the high ceiling allowed for a lot of echo, and everyone seemed to be talking with their outdoor voices and the background music was a few notches too loud. We had trouble hearing ourselves speaking to each other, and there were only 4 of us. Other than that, the staff was courteous and professional, and we all enjoyed our dishes.

Fantastic breakfast. The staff was extremely nice and friendly. Everyone here is so cheerful. The owners must treat them well. They all had a smile on their faces and greeted everyone as you walked in and left. No one seemed cranky here. So tip well!This is a great place to eat. Get the special it was amazing. The food is consistently 10/10 every time i go here. i love their cheddar jalapeño biscuits; you can order them a la carte. the service is fast (even when busy) and the ambience is cozy american diner.this time i had their breakfast quesadilla and their house salsa on the side, which is spicier than the one that comes with the dish. you can pick a full or half order of the the corn flakes french toast, which is great if you can’t decide.

Cute place! Family owned. Nice decoration and atmosphere. Prices are good. Portions are huge. Love it. The salad was super delicious. The meat didn’t have a lot of flavor and it was black. Too burned. Staff is super friendly! They have free parking in the back. Their zucchini bread is out of the charts! Soooo good!!!

Every time I’ve gone there with my family I’ve had a better and better experience. The waiter even knows my families by name they’re so friend and we don’t even live in the area. We’re just usually visiting my family. This restaurant has a special place in my heart, because the food, although nothing complicated on their menu is just always well done very very rarely. Do we ever have any issue and if we do, it’s always perfected and taken care of immediately, I have to say it’s one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in a very long time with exception of maybe one place I’ve been in San Diego one place in northern California. It was exceptional this food and this environment that at this black cow is top-notch it is busy and you can sometimes see the stress of the workers, but they always handle everything very well, I have a mixed culture family and we always get the best experience when we go there and not treated any different than others unlike the day before we went to this one we were at a Denny’s and they wouldn’t even see us and kept helping people that came in behind us…

This place was beautiful and the food is beyond amazing. When we arrived, we did have to wait about 30 minutes but honestly, the fast service and kindly employees tops the waiting time. Yaroslava was our server, she was very kind, helpful and attentive of our table. I appreciate the kindness! I will definitely be back when I visit again.

Victor is the greatest server! So polite and efficient! The place is super busy, but we were made to feel like we were important. The only thing that was just okay was my sandwich, but thats okay. Ive had lots of other food from here and its all been good (youre not going to like everything everywhere).

Our whole experience was awesome. Met a friend there for a beer and decided to have a snack. My friend ended up ordering shrimp tacos which were delicious and I ordered one of their starters or appetizers which was the avocado toast. Yummy! Yummy yummy! Its fun to sit and the very front and watch everybody doing their thing outside. I would suggest trying it out if you havent already

The food is dependably great, breakfast, lunch, or dinner. 😀 I love the sinful cornflakes covered French toast and weekend quiche. For lunch and dinner, you cant go wrong with the shrimp tacos. The fish specials are also great! Dont skip dessert --- berry tart or raspberry chocolate cake. Yum!

Well, it’s a great location with plenty of offsite and street parking. After breakfast, you can take a nice stroll through the Montrose shopping park and do some woo shopping while burning off a few calories. 😬I got there early Saturday morning, so it wasn’t too crowded. I was seated next to the front window and enjoyed the view and hot coffee while waiting for breakfast to be served.The waiter was prompt and attentive. The breakfast, well, was delicious. And even though the prices are higher, the amount of food was more than adequate.So, yes, I highly recommend The Black Cow.

We really enjoyed our brunch at the black cow. We showed up early and we’re seated right away. The place was busy but service was great and food came out fast. I can see why this place is so popular and loved by the locals. Both the breakfast burrito and Benedict were great and we washed them down some mimosas. Outdoor dining. Staff was very pleasant and service was great! First of, the sangria is amazing, super refreshing! Absolutely delicious food. We ordered the rack of ribs, dynamite shrimp and a kids cheeseburger. Ribs were perfect char, shrimp had the perfect crisp and sauce and the cheeseburger tasted like it came right out of the barbecue! Really good!

Outdoor seating! Welcome back!Yummy dishes! My favorite is the burger and their special fries with fresh jalapeno. It was so nice to eat outside on such a beautiful day in Montrose.After you have a meal at the Black Cow Cafe youre going to need to walk around and see the quaint small businesses and do some shopping.The staff is the best and ultra polite and they never rush you or throw the check down after your last bite. Thats what I love the best about this place.

I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor profile of my crispy chicken sandwich. The sauce and cheese combo had an Alfredo Pasta thing going on. It threw me for a loop at first but it worked really well. Very zingy cheese. Good portions. I also snagged a fry from my partner and it was 👌. The bread was a tough chew but the taste was splendid. Buttery as hell. The vibe inside was super cozy too. Felt like I was back home in Ohio for a moment. Would recommend to anyone whos in the area!

Baked with a sizzling creamy cheddar cheese sauce. Great food, fantastic service. Ricardo was probably the best server I’ve ever had anywhere. The place itself is a fun jazz kitchen vibe, and the food is high quality and delicious. But Ricardo was so friendly and helpful that he put the whole experience over the top. Give that man a raise! It was a blast and the food was amazing.

Definitely a staple restaurant in Montrose. Always enjoy the food here. It does get busy on the weekends for breakfast/brunch, be prepared for a wait if you’re dining during those hours. Family friendly and the staff is great. The menu has something for everyone, including a kid’s menu.

Not good. Bad service. Had to ask multiple times for multiple items. Food was terrible. What breakfast place doesnt have pancakes or hash browns? Coffee was mediocre. Overpriced for what it was, even if it was better quality. The only reason Im not giving 1 star is because they have fresh squeezed OJ. Go somewhere else.

Black Cow has been here since forever and the quality is always awesome. Came here with a friend not too long ago and ordered one of the breakfast specials. Good price and tasty food. Spectacular service, with servers working hard at work to get you food quickly. One of the best restaurants in the area and a must try if you are in the area.

I decided to try the Country Biscuits and Gravy, which was really good and a bowl of fruit. My only complaint was that the bowl of fruit consisted of only a lot of Cantaloupe & some pineapple. My boyfriend and I were pretty hungry and needed to eat before a hike. My brother recommended that we dine at Black Cow Cafe in Montrose, so we plugged it in our navigation and headed right over. We were both very pleased with our food. The service was exceptional! Victor, our server, was warm, humorous, informative, intuitive! He made suggestions that fit our palates better than what we were going to choose. He got a Reuben with a house salad and balsamic dressing. I got a tri-tip salad (house salad with balsamic dressing). Thats not on the menu, but Victor made it happen! Their house salad is the way to go!We will be back!

This is a favorite spot of some of my friends and Im so glad I got to try it. Its part of this cute little town of Montrose, which has a vintage feel to it. All these mom and pop shops, including an old fashioned candy store, bookstore and toy store.The restaurant was nice inside and service was excellent. I got the Cow Benedict while my friends ordered the Crab Cake Benedict, Corn Flake Crusted French Toast and the Corned Beef Skillet. My Cow Benedict had its Hollandaise sauce made with orange juice, which I had never experienced before and it was so beyond good. I was so happy with my dish.I tried my girlfriends Corn Flake Crusted French Toast as well as her Corned Beef Skillet. French toast was great but more on the dessert side than breakfast as it was really sweet. But that Corned Beef was awful. It was way too salty and she ended up just taking it home because she couldnt finish it.Great experience overall. I am excited to bring my husband here to try the Cow Benedict.

The Hollandaise sauce here is really good. I had the bennies. They were delicious and served on a croissant. My wife had the quiche. Bustling brunch spot with classic comfort food options. Came here on a Saturday around 1pm after a trip to Descanso Gardens, as it’s just about mile down the road. There’s 3 hour parking available in the back off the restaurant in a shared lot. Otherwise, you can find limited street parking. There’s outdoor dining current available during covid. There’s benches on the side if you need to wait for a table, but we were seated in less than 5 min (which was great, as they were pretty busy). High chairs are available forThere’s a lot of options for food, and there’s a breakfast and lunch menu, along with a separate specials menu. The portions are generous and fresh. I liked how the eggs Benedict was put atop a croissant rather than your typical English muffin, although the eggs were a tad small. They were unfortunately out of cinnamon rolls by the time we got there, but they do have a cornflake crusted French toast for those with a sweet tooth! Credit cards are accepted and the service is very quick/efficient. Overall, it’s a cute neighborhood spot to grab a casual bite.

These idiots literally put the condiments (syrup, butter, etc.) INSIDE THE PLATE WITH THE WAFFLES!!! The condiments literally sit on top of hot food inside the to go plate. When u get home the butter has melted inside the packet. Its not bad enough the food is in plastic plates that contain forever chemicals but these monkeys are also tossing the condiments in there too. PS. the only regulars that eat at this place are senior citizens...this place is a joke. Better off going to IHOP.

A true hometown favorite. This is Montrose at its best. The waiter made us feel like he had known us forever. The salads were just what we needed (we had been traveling alot) and sitting on the sidewalk watching the world go by on a summer day was relaxing.

Without further ado let’s begin this café restaurant review. The Black Cow Café is an American café restaurant that offer breakfast and lunch. It’s located in an upper middle class Montrose section of LOs Angeles County. Indoor design and layout was very captivating to the eyes especially their exposed brick walls. It’s spacious as well as it’s front outdoor. Server was garrulous, attentive and followed health protocol. Service was diabolically fast and on point. I ordered the Count of Montrose Cristo sandwich (turkey with melted cheese) plus a side of fresh fruits. It was warm, very tasty and delicious. Similarly, the fruits were fresh and sweet. Free Wifi available. Rear parking lot and metered parking were available. Overall, I had a good brunch and order experience. I recommend this café restaurant.

We went on a friday afternoon. It was packed and 4 parties before us, but we managed to get seated in less than 10 minutes. Our server, Sheena was very accomodating and friendly. She was lively and helpful. We definitely received great service. Our food tasted average for the price but the cake tasted 5/5. Next time, we’ll try other items on their menu. Plenty of parking spaces at the back. Overall, We can’t wait to return.

My wife and I came here after visiting Descanso Gardens. The wait was quite short - fifteen minutes. We sat outside and enjoyed the foot traffic - e.g. people watching. Server took our order and our food was brought out quickly. Food was very good- I had the Brie and Apple grill cheese sandwich. My wife had some breakfast burrito. Coffee was hot - I despise cold coffee. Only downside side is parking.

Well first up service was great. Ronn knows what he’s doing. The house coffee is endless and smooth. The chipotle grilled cheese was great, maybe could have used a little more spice but definitely worth a try. The blta wrap, according to my wife, was fantastic, and so was the Caesar salad she ordered with it. I got the Montrose Cristo (Monte Cristo) and I have to say probably the best I’ve ever had. The Hawaiian bread was beautifully soft yet perfectly fried. Cheese was oozing out and the turkey and ham was top notch. To complete it was the cranberry strawberry jam and crispy fries. I love this cafe. It’s a place I have so many memories over the last 20+ years. My mom used to come here with her friends when I was small, and we would sometimes come as a family and celebrate birthdays. They have a glorious Soy Chai iced blended, and a Butternut Squash soup we would go enjoy on Thursdays, for it’s the Thursday Soup. First time here and I am all about great customer service and first impressions.I was looking for a salmon dish in the area. I reviewed their online menu and saw the Warm Salmon Salad, reasonably priced for $14.95. When I got there, the menu listed the price at $17.95. Before I ordered, I asked the sever if she would honor the price listed online since the sole reason for me attending their restaurant was the salmon and the price. She instructed me she would have to ask the manager.The manager came to my table and said he could not honor the online menu price of $14.95 and tried to convince me it was the “lunch” price, even though there was nothing documented on the website “or” the handheld menu that there were two prices, one for lunch and one for dinner.The manager then proceeded to ask me if I wanted more water. I informed the manager that I would not be staying.It amazes me that this Manager would rather lose a potential repeat customer and the opportunity to sell a meal, which I’m sure he still would have profited from, as well as the server losing out on a tip simply to avoid honoring the $3 price difference. I will never visit this establishment again.

Best brunch around. The food and coffee at delicious. I got the French toast covered in corn flakes and coffee. Service was speedy, but it is not a place to leisurely enjoy a meal. My plate was taken when I wasnt looking and there was still food on it. On Sunday mornings they really want to turn the tables as fast as possible as there is usually a line. I still love this place and their food.

I usually like this place but I ordered Fish and Chips for lunch and was very disappointed with the amount of food. There was hardly any fish in their fried batter; it was almost 100% batter! That was not enough protein for a meal. Though I enjoyed the chips, and the slaw with pineapple added was nice, I was still hungry after eating it!

Salads are great. Breakfasts are good. I always seem a little let down with lunch and dinner. I ordered the Shrimp Fajita salad today and have to say it was terrible. They used a red marinara sauce. Chicken avocado sandwich was OK, but not worth the $14 price tag when I can get a better one from Super Charburgers for $7. Great service though and the salads are always on point.

The Parmesan eggs were on special, and I enjoyed it so much. Came with a delicious..Food was out quickly and was very good. Really impressed with this place. Will definitely be back. Great for a quick bite.

Good Food. Great Bakery /Pastry. Staff super-friendly, attentative, professional. Ricardo is an excellent waiter. Also yum on the Double Chocolate Muffins and Chocolate Cake. This restaurant has been here for over 20 yrs. I remember when it first opened.

Its sort of cramped and dark here but the service is very nice. I had a fosselmans ice cream milkshake and it was the best milkshake I have ever had. I recommend the Mexican chocolate flavor. It was only 4.25 or something like that. It was very rich and the perfect consistency.

Just had my first meal here and it was good enough to make me want to try EVERYTHING on the menu! The grilled artichoke was seriously the best artichoke I have ever had. And the fresh focaccia bread that arrived free at the table was clearly baked just for me.

Was brought here for brunch on a Sunday by some friends as I was visiting the area. Friendly and helpful staff and fast service overall. We ordered the avocado toast, breakfast burrito, and zucchini bread with cream cheese. The avacado toast was fine, it was the most expensive item we ordered and it had little to no taste or flavor. The breakfast burrito was good but I would suggest draining the burrito first before eating because a lot of water comes out from the bottom. The burrito does come with a paper wrap but there’s no way to eat it all without eventually removing the wrap. The zucchini bread with cream cheese was the best item we ordered. It was moist, flavorful, and soft. The place gets crowded quickly so make sure to get here early and put your name down fast.

Slightly high priced but the food and service is excellent. I recommend the Monte Cristo sandwich and southern baked skillet but everything is delicious those are just my faves. Plates may appear small but its all hearty and very filling even for a big guy like me. Major plus, they offer coffee too. Hot, ice blended, iced, just like any coffee shop and cheaper than the major chains.

Very popular. And, I found out why when I ate their food. (had to wait for 5 minutes, before they had a table for my friend and me, because it was so busy.)They have an interesting (very old fashioned looking) fan system on their ceiling where each fan is interconnected, via belts, to one motor. To me that made it a place with visiting, for the pictures.Back to the food...It was good, and a bit gourmet. (the only downside was that the price was slightly expensive)The staff was pleasant and proficient at what they do.

Food is excellent. Have been coming here for years. Today we had the worst waitress ever. If you get Martina at the outside tables: be aware!!. I really hope She was probably having a bad day today. All personnel at Black cow are genuinely kind. Martina was passive aggressive and very rude. The manager (Sergio) apologized. My recommendation is to let waitresses like Martina to take a break and get some air once in a while. I can feel Martina was having a really hard day and was taking it on customers. Maybe Martina is in the wrong industry. Customer service is not as easy as it appears to be, Martina. Attitude is a huge part of it.

Value - food was really small, expensive - Subway is batter3. Not clean - plates were dirty and white hair in water cup4. Not good service - I told to one of waitresses about hair in water cup, she just took it. no sorry and no sorry face.5. next table customer, there was hair pin from plate who ate already half.6. table paper thing - smell is really bad which mean is using really cheaper one!

Love this place when visiting Montrose. Wait staff are the best (Victor is our favorite)! The food is ALWAYS delicious, whether your getting breakfast or lunch, whether youre ordering from their regular or specials menu, Ive never had a bad meal. And take home some zucchini bread - best Ive ever tasted with hints of cinnamon, nutmeg and fresh raisins.

Tickle Tree is one of those neighborhood spots that truly makes me happy for where I live.The place is warm and wonderful thats lovely on the weekends and super chill on a weekday afternoon. Their menu includes a wide variety of great healthy, delicious choices. This place really blew me away at the quality, flavor, and portion size... especially for the price point. The stars of what we ordered were the fried chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and biscuits, and the house and asian style salad. We also ordered a BBQ sandwich which was good as well. We had enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Their ice cream, chai and floats are delicious as well. We cant wait to go back!
