Booked a Coastal 2 Queen Room. Paid Extra. Description said: ...adjacent to the beach pathway and has views of the coastline up to Avila Bay.... Expecting a room with coastal views as described, we were given a room on the second floor, facing homes on the side of the hotel and trees/brush. NO VIEW whatsoever of the coastline. Told the front desk that we paid extra for a coastal room and our room has zero views of the coast, but instead faces trees/bushes and homes, she said sorry thats all I have. When I asked how it is a coastal room with no view of the coast, she shrugged and said I understand, but sorry. I asked to speak to the manager, Louie, but he refused to come out and speak to me. Instead, the clerk came back out and said he is really busy and the only thing they can do is give me a King room with ocean views, but I have to pay $160 extra. At this point, any other hotel would have given us a complimentary upgrade or at least a discount on the King ocean view room, but not his hotel. This entire episode not only wasted our time, but ruined our experience and my birthday weekend with my kids bz we were expecting and paid for a certain room with view and did not get what we paid for and the hotel did not nothing to help us or offer us anything other than to say, sorry nothing we can do. Their room descriptions, therefore, are false and its false advertising to describe a certain type of room and charge extra for it and then not provide that room to the customer. Pictures of our coastal view are enclosed. The Valet and restaurant staff were great. Will not be coming back to this hotel.
We are locals and love having staycations here. Everything is always great. The only thing I wish was different was the placement of the door and toilets in the ocean/pool view rooms. The door almost hits the toilets, but other than that. Everything is always so clean, and they almost always have local discounts. The spa is also a must.
I had a few Issues but got them Resolved by the Lady in the front Counter. If You Don’t Talk or Bring it up How will they know or get it Resolved?. Made me feel welcomed & felt that they cared. Beautiful Views. Good food. Thanks
A gem of a hotel right off the coast of the Pacific Ocean. This hotel is dog friendly, kid friendly, and of course, people friendly. Guests are met with a very distinctive floral scent that lingers in the lobby upon arrival.The rooms overlook the pool, the bluff, and the ocean. Sidney is a warm hearted front desk concierge who greets guests with positive vibes and has recommendations for nearby excursions. The neighboring restaurant Marisol at The Cliffs makes The Cliffs Hotel and Spa an all inclusive vacation spot...ask for Charlie. Carlos valeted and charged my Tesla overnight. There is no need to leave the grounds during your stay, unless it is absolutely necessary.
We are so glad we found the Cliffs Hotel. We originally were going to Maui for our 10 year anniversary and in the wake of the wildfires, had to cancel our trip. We booked the hotel 2 days from when we were going and it exceeded our expectations!The rooms were clean and lovely, the grounds were gorgeous and with the incredible views, it actually felt like we were in Hawaii!We will definitely be returning!
Ive been coming here since I was a kid in the 90s. Ive only been able to stay the night a couple times and every time it has been amazing.We got married here on a shoestring budget in July 2012 and it was and still is the best day and vacation of my life.Weve either been unable to afford to come back since, or have been prevented from doing so by various circumstances until today and its been more perfect than I ever could have imagined.The rooms, hotel, and restaurant are clean, comfortable, modern, and well-appointed. The food was just as good as it has always been, and service at the Marisol restaurant was even better.Every staff member has bent over backwards for us, and been so kind and friendly, especially Phylecia at the front desk.Phylecia could have said Yeah you got married here, cool story, do you want to spend $150 for our anniversary package?Instead, she treated us to some amazing bonuses and little gifts that have made this stay as memorable as our previous stay for our wedding.Even the pool was perfect -- the California coast is associated with warm, sunny beaches but Ive you go north past Santa Barbara, its usually anything but.And yet somehow the Cliffs pool was warm enough at 8 AM (staff cleaned it at 7:00 AM) that even I, who is always cold and cant bear water at a lower temperature than 90° F, could go swimming for well over an hour.It doesnt get any better than that.If I had one criticism, its that the pretty water fountains are too loud. Normally the sound of flowing water is relaxing but this is one of the few places its a nuisance. When its turned off, you can hear the ocean over the sounds of everything else, even the 101.Other than that, I hope the Cliffs never changes. It doesnt need an overhaul or a mass remodel or restructuring.And I hope its staff is happy and well-compensated. Cheers.
I had a wonderful stay at the Cliffs Hotel. The rooms were nice and spacious, perfect for families. It was great to have a microwave and refrigerator in the room, especially when traveling with kids. The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating throughout our stay. One of the highlights was the family-friendly restaurant, which had a large grass area outside where the kids could play while we enjoyed our meal. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience, and I highly recommend the Cliffs Hotel for families looking for a comfortable and welcoming stay.
The hotel is located in a beautiful location. We did not expect hordes of kids and dogs however. We couldnt even approach the pool and hot tub because, regardless of hotel policies, both were full of kids and adults at all hours! We paid resort fees but did not experience a resort stay. The hotel prices are a rip-off for what you get, but I suspect this is only during summer.Our room (King Ocean View), had some ocean view, but was also facing the pool which meant constant noise until well after 10. The Serena rooms which are on an adult-only 5th floor might be better for peace and quiet but of course none were available for our weekend. The movie night outside on the lawn on Friday was definitely loud and geared towards families naturally.The bed was comfy, the room had everything needed for a weekend stay, the bathroom is not big or impressive but it does the job. The grounds are well kept, however there is no onsite parking.You have to park 2 blocks away or valet for $20/day.We didnt enjoy the food or service at the restaurant, especially for the ridiculous prices, but there are plenty of options in town.Front desk staff are friendly enough.This is not a place for a romantic getaway or spa weekend for couples. much more suitable for families with kids and dogs. Again, there are plenty of options in town for a more peaceful stay without the exorbitant fees. excessive noise and crowds.
AMAZING! We had a staycation for a few days, literally didn’t leave for anything. Service went above and beyond for us and my family, food was excellent at Marisols (next door) pool service was exceptional. Kids watched a movie Saturday evening on the lawn, a great way to end the night.
Great rooms, beds, location.Front desk service checking in Thursday night and checking out Sunday am was poor, unfriendly. Also if you self park in the front lot the valet will tell you they will still charge you. That’s false.Otherwise a great stay. Great drinks and views from rooms.
The hotel is not walking distance to restaurants and activities. They need to provide something so guests can hang up their bathing suits to dry if not on the balcony for esthetics then at least in the bathroom. The fridge is smaller than most hotels and no microwave. They didnt used to have valet and now you are forced to use valet since the self parking that is across the way doesnt even belong to them. This hotels self parking is way too far so youre forced to use the valet. the bathrooms are tiny for a somewhat more upscale hotel. The décor is great, it has beach access. The pool is nice, you can order food and drinks to be delivered to you poolside and the staff throughout the place was great.
Everyone at The Cliffs was very friendly and helpful! You cant beat this location, and the rooms are very clean. The property and walkways along the bluffs are gorgeous. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner because the ones provided in the room arent great.
Hotel is located in an extraordinary place. The only thing lacking is the service in the hotel to go beyond for customer service. I didnt believe many of the reviews where they mentioned front desk will say lot of dont knows but that is bitter truth. I wouldnt say that its the best hotel to stay in San Luis Obispo but because of the location its good. The packages they offer are good which is another stand out for this hotel.
I will never come back there again, the service and people were very nice. The problem I have is when I ask could I park in a handicapped space outside of the restaurant named marisol and was told no problem. We arrived on September 27th of 2023 And Thursday I went to check on my car it was fine and very clean, but on Friday the 29th. As we were loading out luggage to go home. My new Mercedes’ Benz had dirt and water spots all over it and we were on a time frame to get home which was over 200 miles away. I could clearly see that this was purposely done. And we did report this to the front desk and they took my phone number and said that a manager would contact me. I know that there were cameras there to see who would commit this terrible act. I was there with my for a Los Angeles County Assessors Convention. I have yet to hear from management. I am more concerned with what was the motivation to deliberately to this to my car. Everywhere I went I left a twenty dollar tip because the people was so nice.
Lets start off with the parking. This is my fault for not reading the fine print, but if you choose not to use their valet parking at $20.00 a day, then you have to park down the street and walk about 3 minutes back to the resort. Again, my fault.My wife and I stayed at the resort for 7 days. The first 4 days were fine. The last 3 went downhill. When we checked in I noticed a large generator on the hill next to the hotel. A few days later they brought a 2nd generator on the property. That should of gave me a clue then.Come Monday morning the resort lost all power to the building except for some emergency lighting in the halls. Power, hot water, and air conditioning, and elevators were out the entire day. Power came back on that evening, but still no air, hot water, or elevators. Thankfully we were on the west end of the resort on the 4th floor. We had to open the balcony door so we could get some air flowing through at night.They finally got the hot water back the next day, but we never did get the air, or elevators back the rest of our stay, which was 3 and a half days.I do have to say that the staff was extremely professional with all of the complaints I know they received. My hats off to them for something they had no control over.Now, could this event have been planned better. Absolutely. I think reading a blue print of the electrical for the resort and planning how there going to manage the load of the 2 generators to supply the necessary power to handle the hot water, elevators, and air conditioning would have been helpful. Im just thankful this wasnt Phoenix AZ, and 106 degrees.Yes, we were compensated a couple hundred dollars for the inconvenience, but that should have been automatic. We shouldnt have had to go up a complain.Again, Im sure this was unforeseen, but it should have been planned out for problems like this.

Stayed at this location on a trip heading to Northern CA after seeing it on Instagram. Disappointed within 10 minutes of arrival. We had to call the front desk after we noticed several dirt marks and stains on both comforters as well as stained sheets. As the night went on we noticed several spider webs on the lamps near beds, heading out to balcony above sliding door,dusty light fixtures throughout, and several hand prints all over sliding door that looked out to ocean view. We paid a lot to stay one night and it was not worth it. Madonna inn was half the price and 1,000 times more clean.
Such a welcoming hotel. It is a special place, right on the beautiful cliffs of Pismo Beach. The hotel staff was lovely to work with and the rooms were wonderful. Very calm and peacful and quiet. They have a beautiful property and location was great.
Right off the bat, they charge you $45 per night for some hidden fee. When I asked what that was for, she said the use of the pool, bottled water and coffee in your room. Beware!Post reply following Stephanies reply. First thank you for righting the wrong. I just think that instead of relying on typically mentioning a fee (which, Im certain didnt happen just to me), why dont you just build it into the daily rate? Sure, it sounds good that the rate is on the lower side, but when the final cost is revealed and it doesnt add up, you will lose trust and returning guests. Others doing research will see some of your guests experiencing this and the lack of integrity as being the sole reason they choose to go to another hotel. Reading the reviews, the main common complaint I see is things associated with the hotel as being over priced. Therefore, honesty and integrity will offset this. In other words, if youre expensive, thats fine - just give value and people will be fine with costs - be overt with fees - dont think were going to read fine print and use that as youre excuse (and free water is still not enough). Honesty and integrity is the critical factor to gain trust from guests so we will willingly cooperate with challenges - like paying extra for value. Thank you.
I wanted to love this hotel. The rooms and location are great. The service is lacking. I am a pumping mother staying here on a layover for work. The fridges are not cool enough to keep anything more than a drink slightly cold. They’d ask my room number, no idea why as they weren’t going to accommodate me with a fridge, then tell me I could come down to the lobby every 3 hours overnight. So I can pump, get completely dressed, walk to the other side of the hotel, every 3 hours, oh and then try to go back to sleep. Way to make something hard, wayyy harder. The front desk had a lot of I don’t knows where they should have had answers. Like if one of the elevators was still out. The only credit I give is to the restaurant who were kind and patient enough to check for dairy as my baby has a bad dairy allergy so I may not eat any either.
Just want to personally thank Erika from the front desk. She made our baby moon and 10 year anniversary much more special. Great customer service and really cares about the ppl. We love this hotel and our room. Recommend to everyone.
Reception on arrival was courteous and responsive. Terrific valet service too! First floor room dim and disappointing (subsequently corrected to an acceptable if unremarkable room). Overall could use some freshening.
The staff is wonderful, and I had a very relaxing visit in my beautiful room with the beautiful room. Also, the Jalapeno Mac & Cheese at Marisol and Caesar salad are delicious! And thanks for offering Mocktails.
Our experience was phenomenal. It was our first time there and we enjoyed our stay immensely. The staff was excellent, from the Valet attendants, the front desk staff, to the housekeeping! It was such an enjoyable time! I highly recommend this Hotel.
Oceanfront room with good price. Terrific weather. Marisol Restaurant food (too much) but excellent for dinner, breakfast, and cappuccinos on final night there.
Everything was great except when I came down to meet my husband at his conference. the front desk clerk gave me a key without looking at ID or even getting permission from my husband. Even though it was convenient for me, I wondered about the security related to guests.
Look this place is not as advertised. Stay at the Dolphin next door. We spent over 500/night for very old dirty rooms - nothing like the photos on their website. They charged us “ocean view” upgrades but we were on the second floor in the corner (room 226) all u could see is the dirty small pool and the other rooms u might stretch or stand on the bed to see the ocean top. Service was horrible valet was irresponsible - front desk did not cater or help with any challenges we had with our reservations. If i paid 150/night I’d be fine - over 500… total rip off don’t make my mistake

Great hotel, amazing views, and the pool is heated which is lovely. The restaurant isnt good so recommend skipping Marisols (we tried a few times and it was never worth it) but the front desk staff is amazing and the hotel is beautiful.
The Cliffs has been a dependable place to be pampered and enjoy the beautiful location. A lovely spa and a great restaurant on site mean I can relax and enjoy full service.

Stay on the third or fourth floor to get a room with a balcony that is right over the ocean. The Mirasol restaurant in the hotel is great also. I can’t imagine a better place to be.
The staff here are accommodating and welcoming! Rooms are outdated, but the keep-up makes it conformable and clean! Overlooking the ocean with the pool makes it worth staying.
Nice property, however for the rates we would expect restaurant to be open earlier than 8am for coffee/etc. also need to fix loud doors slamming shut in guest rooms which made for a disruptive nights sleep.
I came for my anniversary and the clerk was nice enough to send 2 wine glasses and a complimentary bottle, and gave us the highest room for us to enjoy the scenery
The rooms on the 5th, adult only, floor were ok, the bed was good, but the tiny bathroom was far below average for a resort. The so-called spa was a complete waste of time and money. Neither me or my wife enjoyed the massage. There were no hot tubs, and only one small co-ed sauna. The hot tub and pool they advertise is actually the regular hotel pool area. I had the lomi-lomi massage which is supposed to be a limited drape experience with long continuous motions from shoulders to feet. I dont think my person understood this, as Ive never been so heavily draped in my life. As far as Im concerned this spa is a lie, its not a full spa, and the service was horrible.
Was there for a Probate Conference. All was Terrific.And all the food was good. Restaurant, Conference Lunch and Banquet.

I booked a 2 queen Cliffs Signature room. Upon check in the woman who worked the front desk was very brief and unwelcoming. I asked her if valet was included with our stay and she told me it “might” be.l so I was left confused. When my family and I walked into our room, it immediately smelled like sewage. We found that the bathroom had a strong odor of sewage and we can hear stomping, running and screaming from the room above us.We decided to try to ignore the issue and went to dinner at Marisol. While there our meals were all over overcooked and unbeknownst to us, an 18% gratuity was charged to our tab for our party of 4. Had I not been more careful at checking my receipt, I was going to add an additional 20%. This felt very underhanded. My family and I were extremely bothered by the smell of sewage in our room, I went to the front desk to ask if anything can be done. I was told there were no other comparable rooms available but I can be switched to a 1 king room with a pullout sofa for the night and be switched to a 2 queen room the following night. I was also informed that the rates would be adjusted for the room type and was given two, $25 vouchers for marisol ( which covered the 18% gratuity that the server went ahead and applied to the tab without telling us).When we got to our new room, the package of q-tips on the bathroom counter was opened and used. When we pulled the sofa bed open, there was a random construction screw lying on the mattress. My family and I were exhausted so we tried to make the best of it and chose to ignore those issues. In the morning we decided to stay in our current room and forego switching to a 2 queen room to avoid extra hassle. We went down to the front desk where the girl working told us they had no plans to switch us anyway. When I asked her about the rate adjustment she proceeded to tell me I was already receiving lower rates. I was confused because her comments were not consistent with what I was previously told. She was condescending & rude.After a day in the beach, my family and I returned to our room with the door ajar. We weren’t sure how it happened and we still don’t know. Nothing was missing from our room but the incident was suspicious. We concluded that it puke have either been housekeeping or the door may have popped open on its own as we found the nobs were slightly faulty and required additional strength to completely close.The staff here did not provide the level of customer service I’d expect at a hotel of this “caliber”. They were dismissive and unwelcoming from the start. The only time we had good service was when we decided to check out in the middle of the night.If you’re looking for a relaxing vacation with clean rooms and friendly service, I’d recommend you save your money and stay somewhere else.
Beautiful spot on the Central coast. Unbelievable views with fantastic service. Ate at the restaurant on the property 4 times and it was all delicious. Pet friendly makes it a home run for us.
I had booked the King Cliffs Coastal Room and was given a room on the 5th floor of the newly renovated Serena Collection. The room was clean and had breathtaking views - a real treat for the eyes!However, there were a couple of downsides to our stay. The fireplace in our room wasnt working properly - it kept turning off automatically and making a loud noise each time it turned on or off. So we had to switch it off most of the time. Also the room service wasnt the best. We had to call them twice for every request before they finally delivered what we asked for.Apart from these minor issues, our stay at Cliffs was fantastic. The views were amazing, the room was clean, and the overall experience was great. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a comfortable and relaxing stay with gorgeous views!I also want to mention that we had the opportunity to visit the hotels restaurant. I must say that the mocha was simply to die for! It was the perfect blend of coffee and chocolate and will definitely be back to ordering more of these in future
Loved everything that was located in the hotel and at the restaurant. Very close location to everything. Our representative, Joey Flynn, did a wonderful job organizing everything that we asked for. We had no complaints. We definitely will return.

We had such an incredible experience here! We had champagne and roses waiting in our room to help celebrate our anniversary trip which was just SO amazing and sweet to me. The view of the ocean from our room was hands down our favorite. :)

The Cliffs is a family favorite due to its location and amazing accommodations. With dog and family friendly rooms, amazing food and additional services, we have always felt it is a home away from home. They maintain a calm resort atmosphere while also welcoming the fun of family. It is worth any extra price for the kindness of the staff, unparalleled accommodations, beautiful facilities, and exceptional location/beach access. With the addition of room upgrades and EV charging, The Cliffs gets better and better with each stay!
Nice place to stay with pets, although some owners are better than others (looking at you the owner of a dachshund that left their patio door wide open to let it run wild off-leash). The hotel is nice for the most part but lacks attention to detail. The gym was okay, but lacks adequate ventilation. The bedroom space is nice, but the guest room bathrooms lack aesthetics and reminds me of something you would find at a quality/budget inn just with dirty marble features. The views are fantastic and the pool was nice although limited. The restaurant next to the hotel is nice and convenient and the food was great. The service was nice. The hotel is nearby Avila beach which has some nice shops right next to it. Late checkout was not available, but we were able to checkin a little early for our stay which was nice. Probably would stay again with our dogs as it was easy to get them in and out to take them out.

The Cliffs Hotel and Spa is a wonderful place to stay! Beautiful view, wonderful rooms and the staff are amazing! This was our second year celebrating our anniversary there! We cant wait to go back!
I cant believe this establishment has such high ratings. My family and I had high hopes and were looking forward to our stay. However, our hopes were crushed with each interaction we had with staff. upon check in, our room smells of sewage. My husband spoke to the front desk and we were given a new room. ( we went from a 2 queen signature to a 1 king with a pull out with the added option to switch to a 2 queen the following night). Although our new room didnt have the added stench of sewage, the pullout couch was dirty and had construction screws on it and the package of q-tips in the bathroom was opened and used. We decided to turn a blind eye since we were told we would be able to change to a 2 queen room the following night. However, we decided to just settle in to our 1 king room to avoid an added hassle. We informed the woman working the front desk of this decision the following morning. She was defensive and confrontational and informed us that they had no intention to switch us to a 2 queen anyway. This left my husband and myself confused so he asked her to confirm that our rates would reflect the proper room type since we wouldnt be switching to a 2 queen room as originally advised. Something must have gotten lost in translation as the woman working became even more defensive and told us we were already receiving the lowest rate possible. Her response had no correlation to our inquiry so my husband ended the conversation and at that point, we were left wondering what the actual rates we would be charged for each night of our stay.I also forgot to add that housekeeping entered our room ( while we were in it) despite our Do not Disturb tag on our door handle.The level of service here is inconsistent and subpar. Take your hard earned money elsewhere and spend it on an establishment that actually appreciates its patrons.
I stayed at the hotel several times. I wish the pet friendly room floor can be clean more and the batch room can remodel since it is very old compare to the price I pay.
We requested a dog friendly room and we were not disappointed, they provided a dog bed and 2 bowls for our little guy and the room walked right out onto the front grass where he enjoyed meeting people and other dogs, the views were amazing, we didnt have enough time to eat at the restaurant but we will be returning and partaking in that on our next visit.
We enjoy The Cliffs and stay there often because of its location, and especially because its dog friendly. We love the dog beach thats down the cliff from the hotel.
Positive: Location was fantastic. It felt like a super-fancy resort without being over-priced. The restaurant menu and service were superb. Negative: Wifi access was horrible, especially during busy morning hours. They need to increase bandwidth to serve all of their customers. Also, the tub faucet fixtures need upgrading.
Not worth the price. Decent hotel and location, but customer service and general staff presence was very poor. Youre better off at any other hotel, motel or airbnb in the area, and those will likely be cheaper too
The new hotel manager has implemented a daily charge for valet parking in addition to the daily the resort fees. Very disappointing considering the employees are working harder and probably not getting as much in tips.

My husband and I stayed here summer 2022 as a kick-off to our wedding weekend. We only stayed one night, as its pretty expensive, but it was well worth the money.Honestly, our stay was perfection! We booked the pier view suite and the view was spectacular! Fantastic views of the Pacific Ocean. We kept our sliding glass door open at night so that we could fall asleep to the peaceful sounds of the waves. The room was very clean and in great condition. It included a luxurious tub, which my husband and I loved relaxing in while watching the sunset. Definitely as romantic as you can get! The mattress was so comfortable that my husband asked the front desk about it and we ended up buying one!The hotel staff are so friendly and accommodating. The entire hotel is gorgeous and breathtaking. They have a lovely little bar with delicious drinks and the perfect ambiance. My husband and I are looking forward to returning to The Cliffs to celebrate our anniversary. It was one of the best hotel stays weve ever had.
This is one of my all-time favorite destination hotels. We stayed in the Sunset Suite, which is their premier king suite. Views are incredible.
We had a great stay at the Cliffs while attending our friends baby shower which took place on the back lawn. Jake at the front desk was excellent!
I’m not sure if they are under new ownership but it’s definitely not the same as it has been in the past. It seems to have gone downhill. Amanda at the Spa and David (who was everywhere and absolutely amazing) clearly are not there anymore and it shows. The details and the special touches are gone. Very disappointing.
The grounds were clean and well maintained. Pool area had a nice sized pool with a fire pit next to it overlooking the ocean. They had adult only times for the hot tub and quiet times for the pool (no splashing(.Service was really helpful (thanks Esther and Phylecia), professional, and friendly.The rooms were a bit dated and much different than the ones in the pictures on their site. Bathroom vent fan did not work. No way to connect a device to the tv (cabled or wireless) and each movie was 19.99 + tax (new and old).Spa exerience was primo. I did a 90 minute massage and the therapist (Nicholaus) was incredible. So relaxing i fell asleep multiple times. He set me up with a footsoak and a glass of cgampagne afterward.Price of the rooms were steep for the quality (main reason for 4 of 5 star rating). For the price i expected better in-room complimentaries, stocked amenities, and cheaper amenities (movies/spa). The price is somewhat competitive fir the area but there are much cheaper options with the same level of quality.
We enjoyed a Beautiful family wedding and reception at the Cliffs Hotel. The service was beautiful, the staff were helpful and thoughtful about the guests needs and requests. The reception bar was well enjoyed by all. Dinner was delicious and served to all so quickly with endless wine service. Thank you for helping our Bride and Groom share ❤️ their special occasion with us all so graciously.
Wow what a gem! Immediately greeted with wine when I arrived. Everyone is super friendly including Valet team from the start.Dog friendly rooms are great and lead right outside via back door to a grass lawn! So easy to walk pup. Lawn chairs so you can watch the sunset.Poolside bar and they gave away free root beer floats! Super kind staff. Great restaurant. But the SPA is the best!! Got an amazing deep tissue massage with a man who was seeing impaired so his cute dog was in the room. Was the BEST massage! Ended with a foot bath in the spa area and champagne!! You can stay at spa as long as you want to relax with coffee, tea, and snacks.Will be back!
I have been staying at the Cliffs since I took my daughter to college in 2008. Back then it was a true luxury hotel. Everything was fresh and beautiful. Fast forward to this past weekend 15 years later when I am going to my daughters wedding and the place is really showing its age broken tiles on the floor and counters. Paint chipping and peeling. Tint flaking off the windows. Lots of deferred maintenance. For the most part the staff was excellent. Very friendly and attentive. However we were there for 3 days and we didnt get maid service once. Our room was a littered mess by the time we left. Despite us expressly requesting maid service on our second day. Not sure what happened there. Obviously the location is perfect. But the accommodations were disappointing at best. Sadly I can no longer recommend this hotel. Even though I just inflicted it on half the wedding party that were my friends. Goodbye old friend.
This review is long overdue - we stayed here about a month ago, and we were able to bring our dog and stay in a pet friendly room. It really exceeded our expectations. The room seemed like it had recently been renovated and had a luxe feel to it, and the view/location was even better than expected. There was a path leading to a little beach right outside our door and a huge terrace to bask in the sun and look out at the sea. We didnt notice or hear the highway at all. Also, the staff were all super attentive and kind - valet, front desk, maids. It made the experience feel more like a luxury stay than we expected. Kudos to the whole team!ps. recommend going to the nearby Sycamore Hot Springs (which one of the valets told us about!)

We reserved a King signature ocean pool view . The view from the room is magnificent. It is a pool view room with a view of the ocean (for an angle of 60 to 70 degrees). The room is big and cozy . The service staff were nice and friendly.This place is about 6 minutes drive from Pismo beach and is tucked away for a peaceful and serene vacation. There is a beach about 10 mins walk from the resort and it is less crowded . The location is beautiful.The Marisol restaurant is excellent and adds charm to the resort.The issue I had with the Cliff is with the bath . The commode was too small and the door opened too close to the commode .
We had a short stay but it was very clean, friendly and a great location. We will return next month.

My dissatisfaction with this hotel is regarding the room given to us. We had booked a king bed ocean view room for our wedding anniversary. On reaching the premise, the room given to us had a blocked view or a partial ocean view. We brought up the concern immediately but we were asked to adjust as all other ocean view rooms were booked. We felt cheated in some sense as we were made to pay a full ocean view price for a partial ocean view room.During the checkout we brought the same issue up again, expecting some discount due to inconvenience. We were denied the discount and were given a mere 25$ restaurant credit for our next stay. I dont suppose I will choose to stay again with the hotel that scammed us and ruined our special occasion.Note to the hotel management: Please do not cheat the customers by charging them for an ocean view room when you do not have one available!The support staff and the facilities at the hotel were good. Hence giving them the 2 stars.
My only complaint is about the bar. I ordered a Kaluha and hot coffee with cream. The waitress brought me the drink and then dumped a handful of those little coffee creamer cups next to the cup!! And that was like $12.00. Your bartender and waitress should have known better than that for Chrissake!

Ocean view was mostly a view of the hotel room wall, and then hotel building itself. Calls to the front desk rang for 15 min on more then one occasion. Was told staff goes no break, and doesnt answer the phone. Nothing to do near hotel. Need to drive to find anything other then on-premises services.

Valet and front desk staff excellent, as was housekeeping. Room service awful - cold breakfast and were overcharged. Need lighter fare options for breakfast too, like oatmeal, yogurt, etc. Outstanding spa!
Great stay but not happy about having to park off site. For as much money as it costs, that seems very tacky.
You will not be disappointed!!! The best staff, rooms and location you could ask for. You will be missing a wonderful experience if you don’t choose this hotel!
8/072023 update:Came back to a very pleasant stay. The dinner was amazing. The Ribeye is a must-have with twice baked potato.Im glad things are back to normal!........This was our go-to place to stay, but Covid-19 changed the way staff treats people, especially for dinner reservations.I recommend that anyone wishing to stay at this hotel make your dinner reservations the same day you make the hotel reservations.Good luck trying to get a reservation if you forget.
I’m baffled at how this place gets such high reviews. Rooms are extremely old and we dealt with the smell of weed throughout our entire stay. I don’t mind that people smoke it but absolutely hate the smell of it, especially when you’re trying to sleep and you’re traveling with young kids. We ended up leaving a day early because it was so bad. The staff is aware of the issue and they just don’t care, for $479 a night plus resort fee I would highly suggest staying somewhere else. Only good thing about this place is the valet guys, Hugo and Alex were amazing. Some of the nicest people we’ve meet.
We truly enjoyed our relaxing time at the Cliffs. It is so peaceful and relaxing. The rooms are very nice and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful also Beach access was a plus!
Most comfortable with great pool and jacuzzi. Very good king bed and pillows. Our room had a carpark view but was very quiet and really spacious with a working fireplace and comfortable sofa. Amenities were very much appreciated, large bag of small batch home made caramel corn, corn chips, beef jerky, and a couple of water bottles in the fridge. The keurig was well stocked though we only like lain half and half and tea so got some from reception. Very helpful staff including reception and free valet a nice touch. Since leaving I can say my hair has really appreciated the shampoo and conditioner provided. An awesome stay

The best hotel we have stayed at on our trip south.I never observed any member of staff without a smile or cheerfully helpful disposition. The beds and pillows were hands down the comfiest we have stayed on the entire trip.Would recommend and stay again.
Lovely hotel in a stunning setting. Lots of nice touches: a nicely heated pool, comfy robes, beautiful updated rooms. And we loved seeing the adorable guest dogs on the first floor. (Easy to avoid the lower level if you don’t want to see any dogs). We would come back just for that! We enjoyed the fire pits and loungers and the wonderful drinks at the restaurant (food is just so so). Overall, it was a very well appointed, but there were a few issues. Parking was very annoying. We don’t like to valet, and the valet spaces, mostly empty, were taking up two rows. This made the rest of the lot full all the time. If you are not in an ocean front room, you will hear noise from 101 traffic and/or from a loud exterior pipe at all hours. An army of housekeepers was available and ready. This was good if you wanted prompt service, but also overbearing. They are in the hall with multiple carts all day and right outside your door, and it’s a bit too much. It reduces privacy and feels like you’re being watched all day long. They also loom a bit and ask if/when you are checking out. Front desk staff are mainly very nice and helpful with some exceptions.

The staff was amazingly welcoming! The facilities were warming and comfortable! The Spa staff were friendly! The Masseuse was one of the best I have ever experienced! And the view was simply heavenly!

Been a few years since we’ve been out of our cage. Was so nice to escape. the cliffs is the place to be. I don’t always sleep well at some places, but here i slept like a baby. Staff super helpful. I do miss the breakfast buffet .
I love this hotel to the point we come 2-3 times a year every year for the past 5 years. I won’t stay anywhere else in Pismo. The hotel is amazing and the customer service is incredible, especially Stef in reservations. Thank you Cliffs for always an amazing stay

A little far from Pismo beach, although it does have its own beach access. Its still quite a hike down to the sand. The service was excellent my room was immaculate and the hotel itself is absolutely beautiful! We booked a couples massage which was amazing! Everything about our stay was great. They even had pet friendly rooms located on the 1st floor for convenience.

Great location! Fantastic staff in All areas!Rooms a bit dated and could use maintenance. But very clean. Beds comfortable. We had a room on the 1st floor with sliding door that led to the path that goes completely around the Hotel. Llots of walkers and joggers! Easy access to the beach.
Could fault a thing….We arrived after a short drive from Monterey to a welcoming check in for our one night stay, which was very informative about the hotel facilities.We were impressed with the reception area and when we found our room we had a very clean, spacious room with two king beds and a good sized bathroom.The balcony and view of the ocean was good.We ate in the hotel restaurant for dinner and breakfast which was nice on both occasions.We enjoyed the hotel bar and ambiance of the hotel at dusk.We took advantage of the leisure facilities before we moved on to our next location, the service at the pool was excellent and the towels provided by the hotel were a great added extra.If were are visiting the area again we would choose to stay here every time. We couldn’t fault anything!!Thank you for a great stay.
We had a wonderful short gateway on 4th of July weekend at the Cliffs Hotel and Spa. Everything was simply perfect from the gorgeous ocean view from our balcony to tiny but precious details such as rubber duck for the bathtub enjoyment. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Literally every member of the Cliffs team went above and beyond to make our stay as pleasant as it can be. We did not spend time on the pool but instead we enjoyed the gorgeous beach with a breath taking view, which located down the steps. The hotel has a Marisol restaurant where we dined in for 3 evenings. We love the view, the service and the menu. As vegan, I am never sure if I would be eating anything exciting when I go to a new place. Marisol met my expectations ! We highly recommend The Cliffs Hotel and Spa - we had great time staying there and we will be coming back for sure.
Everything about our long weekend stay at the Cliffs Resort and Spa exceeded our expectations! Beautifully appointed and spacious room, lovely pool and jacuzzi, incredible ocean views, walking trails to small beaches, an oceanfront lawn with entertainment and plenty of chairs and tables to relax in! Our afternoon at the spa was delightful! My esthetician was so accommodating at my every request and made me feel and look amazing. My daughter’s massage was the best she ever had. Dinner at the restaurant was scrumptious, front desk staff and valet were so friendly and helpful! I would highly recommend this beautiful property for your next stay in Pismo!

Review for spa at the Cliffs: Ive had a massage by both Priscilla and Connor and both massage therapists were amazing! The locker room is amazing and you also get to use the pool and hot tub for the day. They have amenities in the locker room like hair brushes, Q-tips, and plastic bags for your wet bathing suit. Their robes are so comfy I want to buy one!***My only complaint is that during my massage with Connor, about 30 minutes in, banging starts up. I think itll end in a couple minutes, but it went on for the rest of my service! Connor didnt address it or anything so I dont know what that was about, but it completely ruined my massage experience.
Facility is large and located in outstanding area of Pismo Beach. It is in need of an upgrade, the rooms are a bit outdated, bathrooms are small, water doesnt turn off and keeps running or dripping. Parking is somewhat limited. Location is excellent right off the freeway. Outstanding service from all staff members. 👏. Would consider returning, prices are reasonable. Plenty of entertainment and food options nearby. Free wi fi is a bonus.
This is definitely one of my favorite hotels I have ever stayed at!!! The ocean view reminded me of Hawaii :) The massage at the spa was Amazing!!! The chocolate chip cookies are out of bounds Delicious!!!!
Great place to stay and I would recommend it. My only complaint is that its old and its showing in places. They did a great job of renovating the rooms in put in new furniture but there were just issues like the sink didnt drain and the fan didnt work. Other than that despite painting it looks weathered from the elements as youd expect.

This is a fantastic beach side hotel . We were here on a weekday for a few nights during the year end period. Few things that we really liked The courteous and smiling staff, the pool and hot tub, the Marisol restaurant and the beach view. Would definitely come back here
Beautiful views and comfortable beds. Located conveniently between Pismo Beach and SLO; we found ourselves visiting both because of their close proximity. Very attentive staff and the valet staff is particularly eager to take care of you. The only concern that loses this hotel a star is the presence of dogs. I love dogs, and while allowed on property, every night I was woken by a dog barking and on nearly every walk I had to navigate the waste of dogs left by their thoughtless owners. Id expect the staff to be more vigilant on both fronts if they are going to continue to allow animals.
Enjoyed the time spent at the Cliffs. Always have enjoyed this hotel. Very nice.

The Cliffs is extraordinary! A staycation within its premises. We stayed in a beautiful king suite room, well polished and very clean. Upon arrival you are greeted with free valet service and free welcome wine glass. Outside in the courtyard is a decent size pool and beautiful views from atop the bluffs overlooking the Pacific. To the right there are stairs that lead you to a public but very secluded beach. Hotel staff is more than accommodating and had a very relaxing stay. My wife took advantage of the day spa located on the first floor. Would stay again!
Killer view. Though for that price not really worth it. Steak is 55$ which I dont normally have a problem with the price but they wouldnt let me change any of the items that come with the steak(kosher, so no I cant have bacon & or scallops) they offered just the steak, um yeah no thanks 🙄 dresser was falling apart, garbage under it as well. The pool was heated thumbs up on that. The customer service was great, very friendly people. Overall it wasnt really worth it not for that price.
We lived in central CA for 30+ years, and never knew this place existed! You forget you are in Pismo. The service was impeccable! Literally the only rude people I encountered were other guests speaking to the front desk, and they handled it with class. There are no bad views! We had a great getaway and would recommend to anyone. It’s way better than the hotels just off the pier!My only complaint was children in the pool/hot tub during adult hours. We didn’t bring our kids for a reason, ha!
Worst place in a three week California trip. Water lecks from the the roof on the floors and lobby. Pool closed in the morning (web page was written opens at 8am). Too less stuff for the Spa no appointments available at all. Asked to use the sauna for a half hour, hotel manager didn’t allow us to use it. All over all we didn’t get what was promised on the webpage. The only positive thing the service and food at the restaurant was good. Sorry this place will not survive!
We have been coming here over the last 20 years and the hotel and the service has really gone down hill. They seem to be doing as little as they can.
Very overpriced location. Tiny rooms. WiFi does not work. Parking for guests is very difficult with constant events. Loud rowdy parties on balconies with smoking and drinking. The location does not value its guests. Customer service is terrible. After a very mediocre three night stay (over $500 a night), my daughter accidentally left a beloved stuffed animal in the bed after check out. When we inquired about the item, I was given the run around for a full week (asked to fill a form, messages with no call back). The item was not looked for for a week and then we were finally told it was not found. My daughter was crushed, but the lack of care and compassion from the location made it much worse. They do not value or respect their customers here.
One of my new favorite hotels. Ever. The views were fantastic and the beach down below was gorgeous. Loved our stay. Loved the town. We cannot wait to come back with the whole family. Pool and restaurant were nice. Valet and bellman were super nice. Front desk as well. Very refreshing. Also loved the curation in the on-site shop. Didn’t get to check out the spa. But overall so impressed.

Lovely location. Staff friendly. But Tweeks needed. Tried calling from airport for the shuttle. Got put on long holds 3 times. Nobody ever answered. Had to use reliable Uber. Rooms nice. Fireplace, but road view noisy. Pipes moan and groan all night as people turn water on and off. Bathroom door cant be opened all the way. Hits toilet. Tweeks needed here. Restaurant very nice, great food and view. Amenities in room are perfect.
Beware of the new valet service. It is mandatory, unless you wish to park off site and walk. It is also not included in the resort fee. Its basically just a nickel and dime rip off

I am a local business owner in the five cites area. Have been in Business since 2010. Friends from the valley spent the weekend at the Cliffs Resort.Had ten friends for dinner at the Cliffs hotel restaurant, Sept 17th. Spent around $1100.00.What a horrible meal. Two in our group ordered rib eye steaks medium rare and both steaks came to the table medium well. Both sent back. Not sure if cook was mad or just a terrible cook, but both steaks came back raw with a slight sear. I ordered what they assured me was a local fresh caught Halibut with Risotto. Sounds good rite! The Halibut was over cooked and risotto was a consistency of cold mush and not seasoned. This was there special for the evening, $45.00. This is my second bad review of a restaurant in my life time, I am 69 years old. For this kind of money the food should be not just good but fantastic. I was very shocked. If you are in town and want a great dining experience, try Ventana Grill, only a few miles down the road in Shell Beach.

We absolutely loved staying at this hotel. We enjoyed how it was dog friendly, close to the beach and to tide pools. It was our first time taking our dog to a hotel. The restaurant on site is delicious. The hotel is only a block away from a sushi restaurant and gourmet market. Staying at this hotel was one of the most memorable joys to our year. We are so happy with choosing the Cliffs to stay at with our pup and to celebrate our five year anniversary weekend.
Me and my wife came here on our honeymoon and had a great time! The service was great and the grounds were beautiful! Fantastic views of the ocean!
I was charged $95 deposit of which I was told would be FULLY refunded in 3-5 business days. However, only $50 was put back on my card. When I called, the lady explained that they take and keep a service charge of $45.90, as a facility fee. This was not told to me upfront, in fact, I was told otherwise.

We came to this hotel while visiting Cal Poly and discovered we knew the people staying in the room across the hall from us. The hotel sits right on the ocean so it can be windy at times but the place is very elegant and the main floor is inviting. The pool in back was quite busy and the fountains sounded great next to the crashing waves. We sat around one of the firepits after dinner before going back to our well appointed room.I will mention the bathrooms are a bit if sensory overload with granite tiles everywhere but it’s clean and the showers are nice. The beds are comfortable and I would come back here again, without question.I thought the enormous American flag out front was a nice touch.

Great, dog-friendly hotel. Right by Shell beach (tide pools and sand!) which isnt crowded like Pismo. It was almost like a private beach really. Was great to be able to hang out with our kids and dog there. The restaurant, Marisol, at the hotel had a good selection of food and a kids menu which is always extra points. We loved our stay here and will definitely be going back.
The location is amazing, nothing like having a walkway to the beach, incredible sunset views and the sound of waves all night long. So appreciative that they allow dogs. The two rooms we were in had beautiful tiled floors, makes sense for easy clean up with 4 paws on the ground. Its clearly an older building but they have done a wonderful job updating it. They provide towels for the pool/beach and room towels in abundance. Simple things like a pumped hand washing gel at the sink are appreciated. The pool area is nice, it was disappointing that the jets on the spa were not working and it was warm, not hot. Marisol, the restaurant on site was just ok. Wouldnt eat there again next time were back.

This is for the hotel restaurant Marisol. SHAME ON YOU! If you order food poolside or in room, they charge you extra for each item. My burrito that is normally $22 at the restaurant was $24 in room. On top of that, they charge you a $5.00 delivery fee (which is subject to sales tax and their 20% service fee). Yes, they actually charge you an additional 20% on their own $5.00 delivery fee! Which means, you are really being charged $6.00 for delivery, not $5.00. That 20% service fee also applies to the res of your order. So my would be $22 burrito ended up costing me $37.50 before tip. $24 (burrito) + $5.00 (delivery fee) = $29 + $5.80 (service fee), + $2.70 (sales tax) = $37.50.
By far best place we have stayed at in Pismo. A little ways down from the middle town area but didn’t really matter to us they had a trail down to the water great restaurant and bar heated spa and large pool w plenty of seating grassy areas closer to the ocean view w comfy seating and the staff was amazing and included valet and the valet drivers treated you like royalty! Definitly only place I’m staying in the future as we do travel to pismo often.

Amazing hotel in a great location. We celebrated our anniversary with a two day stay in Pismo Beach. Despite the hotel been a bit dated, our room was very clean and impeccable.Valet service was awesome for guests who need to go in and out of the hotel and often. The people in the front are super nice. We were early in checking in and our room was not ready. The bell service people stored our luggage and then delivered to our room while we were out in a tour.We did have some problem with the receptionist as our room was paid for in advanced and the hotel still charged us for a full room cost deposit. But the hotel corrected this quickly when we informed them.But we didn’t get the upgrade as lucky as the other anniversary couples wrote in the other reviews here despite that we told the hotel at the time of our booking. In fact, when we told the reception at checkin that we are here for our anniversary, she didn’t even say anything. That was a disappointment. Maybe because we are Asian?Overall we had a good time here with the beach access and the nice lawn in front of the hotel to enjoy the sun. The hotel also provided champagne tasting in the evening.

We love to stay at the Cliffs Resort and Spa for several reasons. The 1st is because we can take our well behaved dog with us. They have a special floor for pets. The good is amazing, the grounds are perfection, location is awesome and the staff is very friendly.
On our drive today down route 101 from San Francisco to Los Angeles we had to stop here to check out our first few of the Pacific Ocean. Mesmerizing! Although we had to bypass a path closed sign it was worth the risk
There are some things that are outside of a hotels control. How they respond to such an issue and make sure the guests are taken care of is how they should be rated.In our case, my wife and three year old daughter had a room on the bottom floor similar to our usual accommodations there. Unfortunately, there was a wedding and one of the guests Terra got extremely tipsy. Long story short the cops had to evict her at 4:30 a.m. after she slammed the door on the staff and refused to leave.I had a talk with the manager on duty the next day and they did several things that made the remainder of our stay pleasant. They were very sympathetic and you could tell they honestly wanted us to be able to enjoy the time we had booked with their hotel. We had a great time and hopefully will be back there soon without Terra being in the next room.Thanks Cliff Staff!
Family friendly front desk. It is a Great place Family. They have about a quarter mile walk way in the back. Rooms are comfortable. Great place to unwind for few days.
Beautiful location in Pismo Beach, with excellent views. Fantastic onsite dining. Rooms were immaculately clean and well apportioned. On site dining was great. But the high point? The people! Excellent customer service with a personable touch.
Always a go to for us. Many family memories for over 20 years. Just far enough away from the crazy Pismo Beach area.

Room is set up nice and relaxing but my shower was falling apart. I put the do not disturb sign up but housekeeping still entered while I was out. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Rooms are quite dated and worn, but still clean. The shutters were broken and let in a lot light in the morning. The rest of the hotel is well-kept though and the on-property restaurant had delicious food, though its not worth paying for if you dont get an ocean view table. The beach access is best for drunk adults at night. Not so great for families. Seems like this hotel caters mostly to groups and events. There are better options nearby for families and vacation travelers.
There were several mix ups while we were there, but everything was made right and then some. Had a fabulous time, hotel is beautiful and clean. Love the daily free signature cocktail in the lobby and that you can cruise down to the beach for some toes in the sand time. Restaurant food and drinks are ok, pricey but with a gorgeous view. My favorite item on the menu was the Smores Cake, seriously so good! Filet tasted like a sirloin, definitely did not melt in the mouth. Overall, great trip! Enjoy the waves!

Beautiful hotel! Grounds were impeccable and well kept. Staff was incredibly friendly and curtious. The view is exceptional. Restaurant was beautiful only had a cup of soup but it was good. The room was very nice and clean. The one thing I wanted was softer bedding. The bed and the sheets were hard and stiff. Lots of pillows though. Little noise in the hallway but all in all gorgeous hotel and a nice stay. The valets were super nice and professional as well!

Clean room and nice atmosphere. A bit to isolated if you wanted to walk down to Pismo and didnt want to get in the car. The food selection at restaurant was decent, we had burgers that were ok, but the fried calamari were to oily( I mean put some absorbent paper down chef). All is all I would stay there again but only if breakfast was included in the price. The staff was friendly, some more than others, but of course everyone is different. If you need some peace and quite and beautiful views of the ocean than go there:)
Customer service has gone down over the years. Used to be a great place with great customer service, not so much any more.
The Cliffs Hotel and Spa is a fantastic place to stay. Their Restaurant has fantastic food, the rooms are great and you cant beat the views of the coast/ocean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There are some many places to go that are super close, Pismo Beach, Moro Bay, Cayucos, and much more. My wife and I love this place!!!
I celebrated my 40th birthday with my husband & friends at The Cliffs in February, & everything was fabulous!! The Lighthouse Suite was just breathtaking. Being on the 4th floor allowed us to have spectacular views. All of the staff were very friendly & accommodating. The atmosphere was just perfect!! We will definitely be back.
The views are great. The outdoor live music I could do without. The pool area is filled with privileged drunks. Reading the reviews and seeing the 4.5 stars, not to mention the price, I was expecting a little nicer environment.The staff has been great. The valets awesome. The guests however are definitely not the people I want to enjoy the beautiful scenery with. Definitely has a more “party hotel” vibe than a resort and spa.
Love the hotel. The location and beauty cant be beat! It can be a bit expensive, but worth it. The rooms are nicely furnished with a soft comfy bed and top quality furnishings. Our room had a microwave, but sadly no fridge. The views are breathtaking. You can walk along the pathway on the ridge, or go down to the beach. I highly recommend doing both. The hotel also has a nice pool and hot tub. The hot tub requires reservations and you are allowed 20 minutes to soak. (Reservations fill up fast, so sign up when you first check in.)Take advantage of the wonderful robes in your closet, the are soft and luxurious. I will definitely stay here again.
Room seemed smaller than expected but it did have a balcony and a fireplace, and the bed was very comfy. The heated pool and spa was nice, but being next to the beach was the best part. Also, the hotel had a quaint wine tasting with live music (single musician playing a guitar, not too loud, enhancing the experience) on their lawn facing the ocean, so relaxing! Definitely would stay again.
Staff was nice enough. Place is run down a little. Food is ok at the restaurant carnitas we’re good the rest was mediocre. Also we left some important things in our room before check out and housekeeping threw it out before the day was over. Never had my personal items trashed before! It was in the fridge I guess their policy is to throw out anything in the fridge regardless (this was obviously not food). Not sure what other things they might treat carelessly also? I guess they are the nicest place there so you might have to roll with it just really check your room carefully before checking out because they throw away personal items.
The Positives: The beach below the hotel was amazing. It was totally clean and full of rocks. I went to the huge pool and it was heated. It was so good that I was not freezing. The jacuzzi was lovely, no bad experience by it. Everything was so near like the elevator popped up when we came from the pool.The Negatives: First of all, I come into the room it was too small and when I slept pillows were so uncomfortable that I couldnt that night. Next, after a great time enjoying the pool, I went to the restaurant and found poor or horrible service (it was so slow!) When the food finally arrived, it tasted so gross and yucky that I didnt finish the whole thing. Lastly when I came back, I needed some stuff from room service, they didnt even bring it.In summary, I think you should think about your decision on coming to this hotel. These are major things, they need to fix.
Great staff and an amazing view. We paid for a suite and we’re on the third floor. We also purchased the Baby makes three package that we loved! The voucher is not $100 as it states, it is 4 separate vouchers of $25 which does make a difference when you’re paying. The gratuity is not covered by the vouchers and is 18% at the restaurant and 20% when ordering room service. The valets were exceptional and brought our car to us quickly each time and the beach is just a short couple staircases away. Overall a great stay. *this hotel is dog friendly. Expect to see a ton of furry friends.
Excellent resort. This resort is dog-friendly, and have specific rooms that allow pets. The room opens up to a beach access trail, making it easy to take your dog out. No ridiculous pet fees! Beach access great for a walk. Highly recommend!!
The staff was kind & welcoming. The hotel was nice & clean. Access to the beach was right there on the right side of the hotel facing the water.We didnt get to try the food as the stay was already a big expense. For the price I was expecting a more upscale accommodation, didnt realize it was a 3-star hotel until much later, but it was great for what it was.
This hotel is absolutely magnificent!!! Obviously, on the water so location couldn’t be any better. BUT...the hotel itself is extremely clean and very modern.As soon as you pull up you see the valet guys, all extremely nice and helpful. Self-parking is free also if you want to do that.Front desk staff extremely polite, helpful and tons of recommendations for whatever you want to do.The room - spacious, clean and the ocean view was incredible. Felt extremely blessed to be able to spend my birthday weekend on this property. Couldn’t have picked a better one.Went to the pool, very clean!!!! They even offer drinks at the pool you can order and they’ll bring them out too. Also food!!!!The views from this property are breath taking. I will definitely be going back and recommend this to anyone looking for a nice place to stay!

This is an absolutely wonderful resort. I was here for three nights and the accomodations were clean, roomy and very stylish. I had a king bed room and it was so comfortable. The grounds are super well kept and beautiful. Staff are so friendly and helpful. The topper was the restaurant. Food and service were the best Ive ever experienced, and Ive been all over the world. The bar is spacious and inviting, dining areas are so classy, elegant yet understated. The food. Oh my God, the food. First night I was there I had the clam chowder at the bar with a couple of beers and it was spot on. Next night, I was tired and room service brought me the waygu burger with bacon. One of the best burgers Ive ever had. The next morning I stopped in for breakfast, what a treat! Best breakfast ever, I had the french toast, amazing. Just amazing. Again, the wait staff were so professional and friendly. If you ever get a chance to stay here, do not hesitate. Youre welcome.

On the website unfortunately more appearance than reality.Furniture partly does not correspond to the pictures shown (armchairs) - I could still overlook - room was otherwise ok / but worn furniture / dirty surfaces, under the bed no one has cleaned for a long time. Room service otherwise also sloppy / used dishes were not cleared away / floor not cleaned.An aging, musty hotel.BUT - the crowning glory was:We had booked the Sunshine Suite with whirlpool.This had also done at the same time a guest above us (3rd floor) - he has used his whirlpool about 3 hours continuously ( 10PM - about 01:AM).In our room was1. the rushing of the water and the bubbling could be heard so extremely as loud as if WE were bathing in our room2. after about 30 minutes it started dripping from the ceiling in our room - the dripping water accompanied us until 03:00 AM and became permanently strongerResult:our bathroom resembled a small lake. Sleep was unthinkable.Unfortunately, the extremely unfriendly and problem-solving receptionist, whom we called about 6 times, couldnt (or didnt want to) help us - at least he brought a few towels to wipe dry.With a room price incl. tax of over 500$/night this is a terrific performance !Unfortunately, the manager was no longer available during the night.Talked to him today - he apologized and assured us to solve the problem and not to charge us this night.We were supposed to check out this evening - unfortunately they suddenly didnt know about it.We will contact the manager again tomorrow at checkout.Conclusion:Better to drive past this hotel on the next road trip.Price / performance completely unacceptableTotally incompetent and - when problems arise - unfriendly staff.

DISAPPOINTING STAY - VIOLATION of privacyHousekeeping walked into my room while I was completely naked with no knock and the do not disturb was on the door. This was the final straw of an overwhelmingly disappointing stay. We booked a full ocean front room and walked in to a partial ocean view overlooking the pool. The shower pressure was so low I couldn’t wash my hair and then the water went cold. The sink didn’t drain when I tried to brush my teeth. The mini fridge smelled like rotten eggs and the shutters were broken. The pool water was muggy and dirty. The first night we were there the door was open when we came back from dinner and we locked it when we left. We left after our first night when management failed to act. Not worth the stay.In addition, the mangers comment below is a complete lie. They knew we were in our room till normal checkout at 12:00. Housekeeping walked in at 10:00am. She made up a story about how they checked us out of our room and didnt know we were still there. As you noticed she didnt even address all of the things that where broken or wrong with the room. While I was standing in the lobby and anyone complained about something they would blame it on being booked through a third party. I dont know how a third party could impact poor management? Read other reviews many other people commented on similar experiences.
Me and my Husband went to this amazing Hotel this past Sunday for our 1st Wedding Anniversary.The staff was very helpful and very attentive to our needs.They recognized our Anniversary and upgraded us to a beautiful Lighthouse Suite located on the 4th floor of the hotel. This room was beautiful! With amazing ocean views!We had champagne and strawberries delivered to our room. Such a perfect touch for romantic evening.The hotel made us feel very safe with their Covid restrictions in place.The hotel was kid friendly and also perfect enough for a romantic getaway. I will definitely be visiting this hotel in the future. It was definitely worth the three hour drive.
I attended a friends wedding here. I didnt stay on site so I cant comment on rooms, but service and location were excellent. Beautiful location right on the shore. The hotel staff were excellent and attentive to detail.

This hotel was THE perfect venue for our daughters wedding! Anna was the event planner extraordinaire! Gorgeous view, detailed elegance and welcoming staff. The suites and rooms were perfect! Thank you for our dream come true all 4 days!
We went for dinner at Marisol. We made the reservation ahead of time and were seated early with a beautiful view of the ocean. It was almost sunset. Not too cold, but Im glad we were sitting inside because I get cold easily and once the sun went down it got a little chilly. The menu was wonderful, and the waiter was super helpful with our special dietary needs. Everything looked wonderful on the menu. My husband is the one on the limited diet, but I got one of the specials, the beef Wellington. It was tender and perfectly cooked. The wait staff was attentive and our night was very nice!
I really like the Cliffs. Especially because you may bring your pets. All animals are downstairs; which opens to a grass area. Beautiful beach, tide pools, otters. Wonderful walking. Restaurant on property with room service.You just have to go and see for your self.Enjoy

2023-12-04 21:59:48My husband and I got married here in September! It has an amazing view, attentive staff, and awesome amenities! When doing a wedding at The Cliffs, you are given access to a wedding coordinator. Her name is Anna and she is absolutely amazing! She was the lynchpin of our wedding. She helped coordinate the schedule, the decorations, the seating, the food, and all the little details. She worked closely with all our vendors, and she was always there when we needed her. She even helped pin together my dress multiple times after taking damage on the dance floor! Anna made the whole process so much easier for us, and we cant thank her enough for making the whole wedding come together perfectly! The Cliffs was the perfect wedding destination and will definitely be a place well be visiting in the future :)

2023-11-26 20:01:56I absolutely love this hotel when you first walk into the lobby it beautiful and clean and has this very amazing smell. The front desk workers make you feel comfortable and explain everything in detail. I’ve stayed here one time before and my experience was okay but this time around it was better than okay. Let get to the room we got a standard two bed no view room as we were just staying one night and we weren’t even in the room half the time but it was still so nice and clean the beds are comfortable you don’t wanna get up in the morning the hotel is clean the pool area is clean and has the best view I love the restaurant the fries and ranch are to die for and the strawberry margarita was the best margarita I’ve had. We took a little one night trip because are dog passed away last week and we needed to get out of the house and it was so peaceful at this hotel we enjoyed and will be coming back again and again number one hotel I’ve stayed at here in pismo and i vacation a lot. Even the manager handled a problem at night very well and I appreciate that just wonderful beautiful hotel. 😊

We just took a trip after we got married on the coastal highway been wanting to do it for a long time and we stayed at this hotel. The guy that work there Im pretty sure his name was Jake amazing guy. You can tell you actually cared we upgraded our room and gave us a very nice view for our honeymoon and sent us a bottle of champagne. The place has amazing views. We ate dinner at the was a bit high but the food was delicious no complaints from this hotel at all would definitely recommend going. I will be back in a few years

2023-09-26 13:17:38I love this hotel! Beds and pillows are comfortable although they could probably upgrade to new mattresses overall. It’s luxurious all the way around. A beautiful walk down to the beach from the hotel. The staff are welcoming and helpful. My only complaint would be the mediocre food at the restaurant. I dined there 3 evenings in a row. It’s relaxing and the view is nice so I was happy enough.Also, they use a signature fragrance through the lobby area which I could do without since I have asthma and allergies. The rooms that face the pool and partial ocean view are the best and quietest. Rooms facing front of hotel and road are are noisy until the evening when there’s less traffic noise etc. The mornings opening and closing doors from housekeeping since you can hear it from inside your room which is bothersome unless you are an early riser.But my overall stay was fantastic and I can’t wait to return for another visit!

The rooms are beautiful, beds very comfortable, and the service is excellent. Delightful front desk staff! Dinner at Marisol was delicious, with a beautiful patio view of the ocean. I give The Cliffs my highest recommendation!

The customer service at The Cliffs was probably the best service we’ve ever experienced at a hotel. Can’t say enough nice things! Definitely book your trip!!

Not only was the entire staff we got to use for our needs the best ever but even the guests were very friendly and respectful. I guess you could say the high quality of this Hotel attracts the best quality people as guests too.

2023-11-01 15:16:11The rooms are always very clean and comfortable. We especially love covering up with the big blue blanket; every room has one in the closet or in the dresser drawer. Sometimes my husband and I will take the blanket out to the Adirondack chairs, cover up and watch the tide roll in. This was our anniversary trip. Complimentary champagne was delivered to our room courtesey of one very sweet associate.

Do not need to see any other hotel in Pismo Beach.Extremely accommodating and flexible with my work schedule around check-in time.Everyone was extremely nice but if you get to meet Phulecia, she is very attentive to your needs during your stay and extremely kind.Do you want your CAR before you head downstairs? No problem, when they valet your car, you will also receive a text with a link connected to your car. You can ask for your car while you are still in your room. It will even show you if there are cars in front of you and when you car is outside the hotel. Such an useful feature.The restaurant has great food, ocean views, and will even bring dessert to your room in 5 minutes.There are many spots to sit, lay, and relax with a book while listening to the ocean.Would definitely stay here anytime I am in Pismo.
