OMG! This place is a god sent! The Cottage Too is the best restaurant hands down in this town for true country home cooking! They have the best food!! I absolutely love this little restaurant. Everyone in town does! Everyone is there every single weekend and weekday. I must say they are always BUSY! Ya gotta have patience and know that you will be tended to. Those folks working down there at the restaurant are working hard, fast and serving up some real good grub. I order to pick up, but I have eaten inside many times, although it is small its still cozy comfy and very loud, happy, family energy pumping through that building always. I love it! Great food, and I mean great! Staff is happy, busy and know the assignment perfectly!! Good job folks!

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PLACE TO EAT!Will never go here ever again & recommend that you don’t either.Waited over an hour and a half and still didn’t get our food, a group of 8 people that got sat down way after us got theirs before ours.When we told the waitress we had been waiting so long she finally brought out our food & it was disgusting to where we couldn’t even finish it for waiting that long I think the food should have at least been decent!I think the worst part was when we went to pay I let the cashier know what all had happened and she smiled and laughed in our faces!I think this is honestly one of the worst places I’ve eaten.DO NOT GO HERE!

Good blast from the past diner. Good food, great service, fun old school decorations. Nothing special about the food, just quality ingredients with descent tasting dishes. Cheaper than IHOP with the same size portions. Give it a try. You wont be disappointed.

Came in and were told to sign in and wait to dine in. We did so and noticed others kept coming in and were seated right away. We waited a bit more and although they kept looking at us, no one seated us. We decided to leave when one more couple came in and they seated them right away. A really disappointing experience.

Im from NC and everytime I visit my west coast family. I end up eating here. Not 5 star quality food but for under $10 what the heck are you expecting. The cottage special is a great deal. The servers are really nice and the inside feels like Im at my weird aunts house. whos husband died 15yrs ago and shes had time to decorate but not in a good way. And you still come over every year because you find yourself oddly missing the ambience and the smell of the coffee. If Im wrong, tell me. Also would it hurt to get a Brita filter for the water 💧 watch out for floaties 🙃

Its a great Mom and Pops restaurant, its open from morning hours until 2:00 p.m. only. The food is amazing, service is great, atmosphere is okay and thats only because the place is small so. They try to fit a lot of people in a small place it tends to become a little claustrophobic. Easy access parking. I do love the old time decor/antiques and the flashback of 1950s 60s celebrity pics on the wall.

Loved this place. The food was fantastic, but we had to get someone to wait on us after sitting there for quite some time.The decor is less to be desired but sometimes those are the best place to get great food and this is definitely one of those places.Highly recommend it, highly 👌🏿

Finally good steak and eggs from a diner! I feel this is becoming a lost art 😅. The steak was actually medium rare and eggs were overeasy, and there was an option for biscuits and gravy instead of toast. Plus a side of tasty home fries, all for under $20. Note the New York Steak and Eggs does not refer to NY Strip, seemed to be a sirloin but it was delicious for a sirloin indeed. Classic diner vibes. Strong coffee. Exactly what I was craving.

First visit. Ordered club sand. Hardly any bacon and Hardly any turkey. Asked for crisp fries, they were Luke warm. If you put bacon on top of turkey one slice of bread was thicker. Looks like it would be a better breakfast place according to the menu.

A+++++ This place ROCKS. Super FAB local family owned GEM not to be missed. Home cooking at its best. Huevos Rancheros and breakfast burrito special with home fries were both perfect. I ordered a side of corn tortillas, they gave me SIX for $2. Great friendly service too.

The hours on another app show this place open 24hrs. I am happy to see that Google has the correct hours of operation. This is your typical little town diner. Cheap food, slow service, nice waitresses, mediocre food. Might first visit wasn’t great but I came back again today to find the same waitress working here years later. I’m not sure why the need for hundreds of memorabilia for old movies was chosen for the theme of this restaurant but it’s kinda weird an gives me bad vibes.

My fav breakfast spot in Desert Hot Springs. Found this Gem through Yelp (❤️❤️). Definitely reminds me of being back home in Michigan.Customer service:The customer service is outstanding. I personally dont require much once you have brought me my meal. Being a past restaurant manager I understand alot more and am considerate when the place is busy. The waitstaff is always smiling.Food;Ive had 2 different Mexican breakfast (huevos rancheros & chiliaquiles). For the huevos rancheros I was asked how I wanted my tortillas, never been asked that before. I actually like that. Both meals were so tasty. Could I make this at home yes, but its nice to go out.Ambiance:A small restaurant with a family feel. A tad hot in the height of summer, but worth it. I almost forgot the pictures on the walls of celebrities.Overall:This restaurant is worth a try, many times(❤️) over.

Classic American breakfast place with all of the traditional favorites plus unique selections like the taco omelet. When you enter go further inside to the hostess station for seating. Our order was taken very quickly and our food was hot and in front of us in about 15 minutes. Good food and fast service! Well be back!

A friend / neighbor took me here for breakfast. He is very picky so if he says its good, I expect it to be good. I was not disappointed! It was packed but we were seated right away and our waitress was attentive and gave us great service and fast! I had the vegetarian omelette and I had biscuits and gravy instead of toast with coffee. It was so much food, I took the biscuits and gravy home and had them later for dinner! The price could not be beat (even though my friend treated me!) I love the Hollywood decor and seeing all the vintage pictures of celebrities. I knew at first bite Id be back! Although it was packed we had no trouble finding a parking space in the parking lot behind the restaurant. The second time I went it was as perfect as the first time and this time I brought another friend / neighbor that had never been and he loved it too. I wasnt as hungry this time so I opted for the two egg breakfast with my eggs over easy. I know its very basic but it was delicious and the breakfast potatoes are excellent. I cant wait to go back again Im getting very hungry writing this review. I need to thank my friend Gary for bringing me to this little gem! Great food at great prices what more could a girl want?

Ordered take out walked in and no one came to counter staff was a tanning there not willing to help. awhem I finally asked for help girls were rude! Telling me to wait another few minutes turned into another 20 minutes finally I wanted to cancel my order and they refused to . Skip this place head down the street to Dennys. My Dads last meal wish before he passes was the eat at the Cottage Too, he has been eating here for 22 years. The food is pretty good but I really thought it sad that the one waitress that has waited on him for so many years and he is obviously not a well man, she didnt even stop to say hello. And I remember her always coming to the tablewhen its her table and calling you HONEY! WELL THE HONEY WEARS OFF WHEN YOURE NOT GETTING THE TIP!So to the food... We both asked for Well Done hash browns, as you can see todays cook is not up to speed on what Well Done means. Ugh... Waist of money when you can only consume the very top that is edible. The rest was good.

Ive been going to the Cottage over 25 years now. The food is always great 👍 The first time I experienced a waitress with an attitude. She acted mad like she didnt want to be there. We understand they were very busy. We waited over 1 hour with no communication fron the waitress. After 1 hour I asked how long is it going to be??? like it was a unreasonable question. Ill just know not to have her wait on us ever again. Overall its been really nice!

My friend and I came here for a late breakfast / early lunch. The restaurant is very cute inside. I really loved all the cute collages of photos from classic Hollywood movies. A collage dedicated to Frank Sinatra hung on the wall above our table. I ordered the vegetarian omelet with biscuits & gravy. Both dishes were excellent. My friend ordered the Ruben sandwich and she said she enjoyed it. The coffee was also good. The service was fast and friendly. I will definitely come here again the next time Im in the area.

I always have bad experience here, went back to see if the service had improved and it was the same. The waitress didnt acknowledges us, had to call her over. Food order was wrong, didnt complain cuz they were taking so long.She didnt come to see if we needed refills (which we did), napkins or wanted to order more food.Its all about customer service and they missed the point that day.

Very nice place with awesome wait staff. Felt at home, for was great and portion sizes were perfect, not too much and not too little. Had the Dream omelette and didnt disappoint. This rating does not include food as we did not stay. We arrived to a busy resturant and found a sign-in sheet which we put our name down after a solo guests name and had a seat by the front door. More people arrived after us and went to put their name down but got sat before us. Finnally someone came asking our names and if we were helped multiple times, rather than help clearer empty tables to actually seat us (there were about 4 small tables now). Finnally we were sat to a table that needed to be wiped down and no menus. The server came with menus and wiped the table. 5mins passed and we realized that we would not make our appt if we waited longer, so we made the choice to leave. We did not expect the food to come out any faster than the current service we had received.

I used to have breakfast here frequently when I lived nearby. Now I stop in whenever Im in town to see friends. The breakfasts are great, your basic diner-style menu. I cant speak to rest of their meals but if youre looking for a solid, tasty breakfast, this is the place. Very nice people, too.

You can get a great traditional American style breakfast at this breakfast and lunch only restaurant and the staff are friendly and efficient. I only gave 3 stars however beacuse I was disappointed that during this period of increased COVID spread none of the staff were wearing masks. I will be less likely to return as a result.

Recently went with my mom during the pandemic expecting to order out. Walked in to find their restaurant packed indoors, we asked if we could have a seat too and were denied. Tried this place for the first time today. EXCEPTIONALLY disappointing. Servers not very friendly. My partner ordered Huevos Rancheros (the daily special) and what he got was a plate of gelatinous slop. Had to ask twice for a glass of water. Other food was cold, as in refrigerator cold, and had to be sent back. We try to spend our money in town, but this place needs some serious improvement. This was our first and last trip to this place. When we paid the check, we were asked how was everything. We gave them an honest answer, the issues stated above, and the cashier said a nonchalant oh sorry and really didnt care.

Building needs a rehab and or super cleaning. Very nice waiter though. For tourists, Id recommend one of the hotel/spa restaurants or driving to Palm Springs. We would not eat here again.

First time here with the family. Found in a Google maps search cafe. Impressed with the 4.4 star avg rating, as it peaked my interest compared with the quality rating of other diners and cafes across the entire Coachell Valley.I think we have finally found the breakfast spot we have been searching for for 3 years since moving out here. You know, the type of place you could see yourself just ordering an appetizing yet simple plate of eggs, toast and jam with a cup of hot coffee and it not cost an arm and a leg... and it makes you happy and relaxed.Service was fast. Employees kind and pleasantly genuine. Food was the right price for my wallet. Coffee was decent and served in a huge mug so I didnt have to keep having it refilled... which was very nice. I had the French Toast breakfast special and added a side of hashed browns. Everything was cooked and presented as Id ordered and Im very pleased. My husband ordered the full order of Biscuits and Gravy. While it wasnt bad, and Id tried a bite, we both agreed it needed to be a tad more savory in flavor aside from the pepper. It was a large plate and husband was happy that it had a liberal amount of gravy to sop up. The bacon he added on the side was cooked perfectly also.While the seating and table were clean, the silverware spotless, and the condiments generally free of food residues, the table topper signage (has the specials on it) needs some love. It was kind of gross especially since its probably one of the first things patrons will touch at the table. But it is an easily rectified issue, so no biggie in the end for me.All in all, it was a wonderful experience and atmosphere. I was very satisfied with the prices and the general quality of the meals. I will come back... most likely/maybe make this my familys weekend breakfast tradition.

Ive been coming here for 30 plus years. Always consistent wonderful food for a cheap price. Breakfast is a favorite! Hamburger patty and eggs are my breakfast favorite. Biscuit and gravy are always delicious! Giant Cottage burger is my lunch fave. Huge patty on a homemade roll. I order it without the Ortega chili and add mushrooms for a swiss mushroom burger. So tasty and huge. Bring your appetite!They have changed owners from David to the employees that have worked there forever. They have kept the same great menu, but are adding some Latin dishes like posole and menudo on the weekends. I recently broke away from my hamburger patty and eggs and tried the menudo. So good!If youre in Desert Hot Springs, you must try this little gem. Be careful Sunday mornings as it is really packed! And make sure to make it by 1:30 because they close promptly.Best service by Adrianna (now owner) and her daughters! I dont even have to tell them what I want to order as they have it memorized.Every day lunch specials, but I always order the same things. Get here as soon as you can!
