Had lunch here on a weekend. You order at the front and are given a number stand where someone will come to your table to bring your order. There are 4-5 sauces available to flavor up your chicken. Lots of open seating.Sandwiches sounded interesting so we tried two different ones (coop deville and senor croque), fries, cole slaw, and an additional chicken breast. Sandwiches are large and the chicken was very juicy. There was cole slaw on the coop deville so it help lighten and refresh the sandwich. Compared to senor croque, this was also good but felt heavy and rich with the egg and bacon. Ended up asking for to go containers to take the rest back for another meal. Expect hands to get messy and appreciated the roll of paper towels at the table and hand washing station.Overall was a very good chicken place and will have to come back to try the fried chicken meals

Been here for fried chicken and not that impressed for the price, however, decided to return for the Pollo asada torta I saw on their website. Had a small order of fries also. Counter gal very friendly. Was thankfully slow due to weather. Place gets packed.

My first time at a Crack Shack. I had a really good time here. The vibe is fun and we enjoyed it. The portion sizes are pretty big. My kids got the little cluckers meals and enjoyed them. The Firebird was a big sandwich, and is pretty hot.The large fry is huge. The cookies are pretty big too.They have Pepsi and Stubborn sodas.There was a pretty big line at dinner time. But it was outside and fun to hangout and lookover the menu.Lastly I loved their take on their 1 star reviews - wallpaper in the bathroom made for some fun reads.

The food was yummy even though it does add up since everything is a la carte style. The pineapple soda was pretty delicious as well. It was such an airy place that was simultaneously bar scene and somehow wholesome, kids and dog friendly as well with golf in the background 🤗

Decided to make a pit stop here for lunch, the menu is outside and so is the counter service, but the inside is nice and cozy warm atmosphere. This location is off Encinitas BLVD. I decided to go with the firebird sandwich and my GF got the Cali Drip sandwich, the food was very tasty and they also have different sauces which is nice for example they have a pineapple mustard, which was really good. The restrooms are outside so if you’re sitting indoors it can be a tiny walk. Overall my experience was great and had great service and food. I would go back.

Came on a recommendation from a friend and we left completely satisfied and well fed. It is speedy counter service and then a cozy upbeat inside/outside dining area where they bring your food right to the table. I had the chefs special chicken sandwich and my husband had the downward dog. Both were so tasty. Glad we came.

Probably my favorite chicken sandwich spot in the country regardless which location you go to. Their food is consistent, customizable, fresh, hot, and always packed with flavor. Their staff are always so nice and the place is clean and wide open. I love this place. Ive purchased many giftcards for friends as well.

I went to this location because of the reviews. It was about a 25 min drive from San Diego area. It was very busy when I arrived. You can order carry out. We dine in.The customer service was great. It was an open air restaurant meaning its in doors with an outside feel I though it was Great !!!Dog friendly. Very clean. There was a large TV to enjoy watching sports on.Now the chicken. I order a 5 piece sweet chille & my friend order 5 piece honey butter chicken. We also had mini butter biscuits & coleslawThe Presentation makes your mouth water when it come tonyour table You can see the spices on the skin of the chicken cook to perfection. The chicken was very moist The only problem I had just my suggestion is that it needed a little bit more salt and pepper it was little bland for the tasting.The french fries were good and the coleslaw was Ok.They also have a great bar there too

Very good chicken sandwich. Recommend Firebird over the others because the chicken thigh is more juicy than the breast.Actually quite good fries! Very fresh ingredients. Also a lot of sauce options. I recommend pineapple mustard (never seen elsewhere) and BBQ.And this site has more parkings than the Little Italy one.

This place does not need my review, but Im giving it anyway. This was just the best chicken sandwich and fries on the planet. Everything was absolutely delicious, the shakes are fantastic, the freaking mustard sauce is mind-blowing to me. But the secret star here was actually the French fries, because they are probably the best french fries Ive ever had in my entire life. Thats not even an exaggeration. They are fry perfection.

Excellent curb delivery. I would recommend leaving four corners of the aluminum pan open so the coating, fries and biscuits do not get soggy. Guss in Santa Ana does this and it makes a big difference.First time here and it was for takeout. We ordered the Crack Pak. It includes five pieces of chicken(bone in) nuggets (these were outstanding white meat chunks not reformed chicken matter like McD), fries, six small biscuits, coleslaw(I bet the coleslaw is great on a chicken sandwich but too heavy on mayo for eating straight IMHO), and two chocolate chip cookies. We got a small salad to share as well.It was easily enough to feed four to five people. I wasnt in the know about the tossing sauce options so I got it plain. I would definitely like to try the tossing sauces in the future.Everything was tasty and the chicken is free range...I would go back and try the gluten free chicken too.

Had parked in the Crack shake parking lot then pulled up menu saw the prices so I walked across the street to in n out but the line was at the door with one cashier. I can take an hr lunch but not for a burger. Was able to order my sandwich and eat it in my car in less than 15min yes it was that good I gobbled it.

We have been wanting to try this place because we’ve heard good things. So...here’s my review summary: iWe will not be coming back to this restaurant. It was waaaay too pricey for what we got. This chain has superior image of itself because of the price point but cannot back it up with product. We got a side salad (very small), a kids meal, two chicken sandwiches, four drinks, two fries and a side of biscuits. We also got five sides of sauce ($.25 each) - small sauce containers. Our meal came to $70! Four people. Again between two of us we got one side salad and a KIDS meal. How a family of four can afford to come here is beyond me. They do get extra points for allowing dogs to come in and for that they get an extra star. The food was average. Tip: If you get nuggets don’t bother with sauce / dip in honey - it’s much better than their sauce. Also their cluck sauce is nothing more than Ketchup (Heinz) which they charge for - good luck!

The fried chicken definitely is recommended. I wasnt impressed with the sea senorita sandwich though. Too bland and overcooked when I asked for rare. The border slaw is ok too, can use some more seasoning. The ambience is good, and I love that its dog friendly, though no dog menu.

Everything is delicious.I love that there werent a lot of people at the time we went on Friday around 1330.Right now, theyre wiping everything down, wearing masks & gloves, & are social distancing. The chicken is really good and cooked well. The sandwiches are a good sized portion and each one tastes very different. There is a bar of different sauces if you want to add them. They have a soda machine with different flavors from a normal place, made with sugar not corn syrup. There is a hand wash station for after you finish eating. They have a sand pit for kids in the back and bowls for water for dogs.

Just ok. Lots of chicken grease in the food couldnt make it through my meal. The hot sauce isnt hot and tastes like watered down Valentina with chicken grease. Chicken oysters and fries taste fairly similar and grease heavy. Probably wont go again as Ive had a lot better hot chicken and fried chicken but cool if you like it. Enjoy

Some of the freshest fried chicken on-the-bone Ive had! From the batter to the quality of the meat, you cant go wrong; although, a little salt added does enhance it. The patio is great with the weather, not so much the sound of the honking and traffic going by though. Overall, miles ahead of your typical fried chicken restaurant chains in terms of taste and experience.

Recently traveled to solona beach for a week and our group made two trips to this restaurant. The food is unbelievably delicious, reasonably priced, cool decorations, clean and the people are so nice. They make their own sauces and soda which are both fun to try all the flavors. The chicken oysters were good, but smaller than expected. The tuna is a must get and the power bowl with chicken and the one with tuna were both outstanding. the chicken sandwiches were good, but run of the mill.

I have wanted to try Crack Shack for awhile but dont make it to Encinitas often. Im happy I went. We tried the Firebird sandwich. It was moist and The heat did not disappoint. The Caesars chick was excellent and the anti-salad power bowl was solid. I was amazed at the size of their regular fries which were also delicious. Everything was excellent, and I imagine it would be even better if I didnt have to drive an hour before eating. Ill be back to eat on site and try some of the other great sounding menu items.

Weve been here enough times now to have tried most things on the menu. Every single item weve tried has been great. Fresh, tasty, not over cooked. The standouts for me are the California dip and the firebird, easily the best chicken sandwiches Ive had. They also have great fries, a great happy hour with a good beer selection and friendly service. Only negative is items are very expensive.

Came here with the family and ordered a large family meal. We were very disappointed with the food. The chicken was dry and overcooked. The cole slaw was spicy and bitter (no one would eat it). And putting miso-butter on a biscuit was akin to adding marmite - a really odd choice which none of us could stand. Just have a regular butter option available.On the plus side, the staff were friendly, the space was nice, and the hot sauces were great. I cant imagine my poor review standing against all the 5-stars, but I sincerely hope the kitchen is open to improvement.

I always come to Crack Shack after going to My Sisters Attic nearby. To congratulate myself on driving all the way up to Encinitas for my closet cleaning errand, I get an order of the biscuits. I really enjoy the miso maple butter but would love to have a flight of butters; a few different interesting flavor profile butters. Rosemary honey butter? Garlic caraway butter? Citrus molasses butter? Cinnamon star anise butter? I can keep going.

I even asked them to dip the chicken in a spicy sauce, and it did not make any difference. Ive never been so disappointed at chicken before, and Ive visited the worst of them all. How can such a good looking food taste so bad? No idea...The Mexican Poutine was probably the only item that actually had flavor but most of it was cause or the Jalapeño cheese wiz.The place is huge, and we found seating quickly...even on a peak time. The whole concept of the restaurant is amazing, but thats about it.To top it all off, the price was a little steep for what the actual food tasted like. Ill pay some good 💵 for some great food, but this is just not it. Almost $50 for two people is just too much when everything taste plain and flavorless.Maybe it was just a bad night for the restaurant, but thats my honest review. A great find! What attracted us was the urban setting with a huge rooster statue in the front of the restaurant. A little hard to figure out the way to order food but the cashier patiently explained the procedure. We werent sure we would like it but decided to try it anyway. it was a very good decision. Been to both locations. They cook their food constantly that I didnt notice any difference. Fantastic fried chicken even hearing up left overs in the toaster oven its still delicious. Only thing Im sad about us that they dont have the chimichurro sauce any more. Their fries are perfectly crispy. Then toss in an order of jicama salad and you have the perfect meal! I also like that they have a patio for people who bring their furry friend.

Great value for the quality, quantity and price point. Love the gluten free chicken and cole slaw. And who can resist the schmaltz fries? They are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Everything was over fried, too hard. Two sandwiches were inedible. Just in the fryer too long and darker than usual. Salvaged the chicken oysters by removing the inedible crust. Even the kids meal chicken nuggets were burned. The schmaltz fries were pretty amazing though, and the ranch is so good it will make anything taste better. Just think the staff does not care as much as they used to and it shows ... in their body language and in the taste of the food (and I assume their lack of cleaning dirty oil, as well).

They can fry chicken really well. The chicken was crispy juicy and cooked all the way through. My only issue was that there could have been more flavor. Being jidori may have made them go light on seasoning. Either way I enjoyed it overall. I got the 5 piece honey butter tossed for my Wife and I. It was good. Great place, holds true to the original in little Italy downtown. Menu offering of fried chicken sandwiches are really great, I prefer the Sr. Croque sandwich. For sides, the jicama slaw is a great option, as is the Mexican poutine (pictured). Dont be discouraged by the line, it moves fast and the food is worth the wait.

Very good fried chicken. I was there on Monday around 2:30 pm with no crowd at all. The fried chicken had a great crunch and the meat was juicy. Typically I find breast meat to be dried out which is why I usually dont like it, but at Crack Shack it is very moist and juicy all the way to the bones. The crispy outside has a dusting of spice but it isnt hot so if you are a baby for heat dont worry. There is a large selection of sauces from dispensers which I loved. The french fries are an awesome surprise of goodness with a little crunch too so dont miss out on ordering that too. I ordered the 5 piece for myself but if you dont need large portions you can split it with someone and maybe a large order of fries. Much better than little Italy location! Usually no lines except on weekends and the lines not that long. The interior is pretty cool. Much smaller outdoor area. Very chill.Food is pretty good, a bit pricey.

Glad we tried it again, last couple times were two star visits. Im not a fan of the seasoning on their fried chicken. This time had couple of the salads which were awesome. Also the chicken patty sandwich was good. Fries are excellent and took away chocolate chip cookies for later that were delicious. BTW, crazy loud with kids running around so dont go thinking you will have nice quiet time out. Also wine is expensive 12 dollars from a tap which tasted watered down so will pass on that next time.

Never been to this place before and omg I have been missing out. Their chicken and fries and Cole slaw are soooo good. They have lots of options for sauce too- some Ive never even heard of but all very delicious. Definitely recommend, its a cool vibe as well.

You need to stand in line outside to place your order. The menu is on the wall in large lettering and easy to read. The cashier will give you a plastic cup if you want water and a receipt with a metal stand and a number on a card which you place on your table and a person will then bring out your order. We elected to try the Japanese Beer, located on the wall menu behind the cashier and its the 2nd one on the right and it was very enjoyable. Its a light beer much like a Newcastle. We ordered the 10 pc bone-in, variety chicken meal which was thickly coated and crunchy but not what I was expecting like a Kentucky Fried Chicken, thinner breading, but the meat was juicy and flavorful. The following items came with this meal: Cole Slaw, which was very fresh, crunchy and good but beware of the red peppers on top because they are very spicy. The Chicken Nuggets were coated with same chicken breading with all white meat and very good. Large Fries were good as well. The small Biscuits served with maple butter added a different taste and very good. If you want water and condiments, they are located in the entrance to the seating area. We were there on a Friday night and it was quite busy. One thing we will not do and that is, grab a table by the bar. Very noisy and you have traffic passing by you constantly. This is a family and dog (yes, four-legged friends are welcome) restaurant with a lively atmosphere. The servers are friendly and very accommodating. If you want a quiet dining experience, this is not the place especially on a Friday night. We will want to try something different on our next visit. 👍😙

I had a grilled chicken sandwich of somekind that was good. I liked the bun and the veggies on it were very fresh. The gorgeous woman I was with got a salad that was in a big bowl which I always prefer because Im somewhat clumsy, and if she shares with me I dont want to accidently tip it over. The beer glass appears to be a pint sized plastic cup but its actually glass. Another perfect thing for a clumsy fool such as myself.!staff were very friendly and for a busy night we actually got our orders very quickly.It is a tad expensive but Is still fair priced for the experience you get.Only weird thing is that the bathrooms are located on the outside of the building, and the doors open up to the outside with little to no barrier between you and the outside world. So the potential for non customers to use them or appear there is higher. I felt lucky it didnt happen to me, and maybe the staff keeps good tabs on it .

This place is always good food. They are literally the only place that serves (and appreciates!) Chicken oysters. My issue is price. Its just too expensive to bring the family - sandwiches are about $12.00 and fries are another $3 or more. And the beer is great, but its about $1 more per glass than other local places. You pay for quality, do be prepared!

Great food. Great atmosphere. Really enjoyed the variety of sauces. Kimchi Barbecue sauce and pineapple mustard are delicious. The kids enjoyed the chicken statue and sand pit. We had a great time with our family eating some great food. The open air seating area was very comfortable.

I get there this morning to have a bit of brunch with my family and the staff here are incredibly friendly. The service provided here was incredibly quick and speedy. Don’t even get me started on the food, IT WAS BEYOND AMAZING AND DELICIOUS. It has been awhile since I’ve had chicken this great. My luck at this location is bad. Ive had consistent, delicious experiences at the Kettner location in Little Italy, but generally the opposite at Encinitas. Its still alright, and does have a nice open layout/atmosphere. Staff is great, too.

We ordered the Firebird and the Coop Deville. Both sandwiches were just ok. The Firebird had a large section of chicken missing. The seasoning wasnt that flavorful. I feel bad leaving this review because theres so many good ones but the quality wasnt that great, especially for the price.

Love their fried chicken and schmaltz fries. I cant really recommend the gluten free fried chicken though. Get the regular stuff. If you want gluten free chicken, go to nectarine Grove.Edit: Adding reason why the gluten-free chicken aint it. The breading is hard and dry and cracks and crumbles far more than the regular breaded chicken. I would honestly revisit the gluten free formula and maybe take a page out of Nectarine Groves approach using plantain for breading.
