Amazing food and service! My first time here and I loved everything! Our waiter was nice and attentive. There’s outdoor seating and it was a nice quiet evening. Perfect for a date night or night with with family or friends. The food was delicious. Tasty drinks and the portions are perfect for sharing. If you’re looking for a Mediterranean restaurant I highly recommend coming here!

The food is incredibly delicious here. Be warned though all of the portions could quite easily feed two people. We wanted a few of the dips and they were huge portions. All in all we had a fantastic meal and would definitely come again. Lots of vegetarian options which is a bonus.

Convenient location and there are many public parking spots around.Pricing is average.Food is pretty good. I ordered Chicken Shawarma fries plate.There were 4 of us, so food didn’t take too long to come out.When we needed a box to go, my friend had to go ask because it was hard to wave down the waitress.It was very loud inside because one party was laughing super loud. So just be aware the place is really echoey. Not good for trying to have conversations.

For starter, I ordered the Baba Ghanoush $9-roasted eggplant, mixed with spices and topped with olive oil came with warm pita bread cut up in triangles for easy scooping, I mean dipping. Lol. Honestly though, this was so good I was basically scooping the baba ghanoush on to the pita bread.Their Lunch specials include:MEDITERRANEAN WRAP COMBOS, Available Tuesday-Saturday 11am-4pm. Your choice of meat/protein Wrapped in pita bread & served with a side of hummus and pickled turnips.So I tried their Beef Shawarma Wrap $14- Sliced fillet mignon seasoned with seven spices, pan grilled w/ onions & rolled with fries, tomato, onions, pickles and tahini sauce. I forgot to say meat well done, bit this was seasoned and cooked perfectly I honestly didn’t notice if it was not well done. I ate half and took the rest home.I ordered the Lule Kebab Wrap $14 for takeaway- Ground fillet beef mixed with onions and spices, marinated and grilled rolled with lettuce, tomatoes and hummus. This I ate the following day and it was more than enough for me, I could only eat half. The flavors exploding in my mouth made me want to eat it all though. Even warming it up in the microwave only didn’t make it soggy.For dessert I had their Baklava, there were two pieces that came with the order for $4. Just the right amount of sweetness and flakiness. These went well with my orange spiced hot tea.Service was friendly and attentive. Restroom was clean. I was able to find street parking right away.The Diplomat also takes bookings, Walk-ins. Food is really good, they have traditional options, and meat with salads. Salad was very tasty. I took a star away for lack of ambiance. Inside is very basic, and loud. Its not a place for dates, birthdays, celebrations, but a solid good place to eat. Service was good, nobody was rushing as out, something what must be very appreciated these days.

Located in Old Town Monrovia off Myrtle Ave, this hidden gem is a place to try. I dont usually eat Mediterranean food or vegan but I gave it a shot and they didnt disappoint. The food was delicious, though a little excessive on the rice portion. Great decor and staff. Will come back again. Not sure why Myrtle Ave isnt busier during the weekends. Great food, bars and shops to catch your eye.

The food was good however it took FOREVER to come out. I came here as a group of 5 to celebrate my birthday on a Thursday and it just seemed like multiple tables of similar size that came after us got their food before us. By the time it did come out it was room temperature at best. What saved the night for me was that our server was friendly and checked on us frequently. I am hoping that we just went on an off night, I would try it again as the food was flavorful.

My daughter Cloe and I had dinner at the bar last night, where the charming Michael & super friendly lucy. They attended to us, had great conversation and felt welcomed throughout. We had the appetizer plate, Greek salad with a chicken skewer and my favorite, the lamb chops. EVERYTHING was absolutely delicious. My only regret was not taking photos of the food to share.

Probably the best Mediterranean-Lebanese food Ive ever had, and Ive live in and around Glendale, CA for 23 years. Top shelf ingredients and cooking. Wine and whiskey selection is beyond compare, with dozens and dozens of solid favorites and unique bottles. Highly recommended. OK so my friend and I have been trying to go to dinner to celebrate my birthday for several months which was in July! I live in Silverlake she lives in Monrovia. We were finally able to get together for dinner tonight at The Diplomat and let me tell you how amazing it was! We shared the fried cauliflower the lamb appetizer, the Greek salad and the lamb chops which were ALL unbelievable! Even the rice that came with the lamb chops was mouthwatering b I commented that it had to have butter in it and they said it doesn’t and I was totally shocked because it tasted so buttery! I don’t know what they do to it but it was The best I have ever had. The lamb chops were SO flavorful! I have had lamb chops from so many different places and I have to say these were the best I have EVER sunk my teeth in! So incredibly moist and flavorful!The owners Lucy and Joey were phenomenal! So hospitable and incredible conversations with both of them about their journey to Monrovia. Plus our server Stephanie was such a joy to meet and so accommodating You can tell she enjoys what she does. It seems like such a family oriented place and neighborhood favorite. I will definitely definitely go back! it’s a hidden treasure and one I am so glad My friend introduced me to it!

Second time here, didn’t have so much of a problem the first visit. This time, we ate at the bar. The guy (bald that looks like he should be a security guard not a bartender) at the bar first comes off on a strong unfriendly tone as to move down seats to leave i don’t know 2 seats in case couples come in? I get it, but there’s a friendlier manner in doing so, I reflect by asking for a water as I await my food, giving the same energy. This guy didn’t like this, this awkward stare from him was unsettling and I even felt two droplets of water, one hitting my face and the other my right hand meaning it could have only been done intentionally as he was furiously shaking off the cup for any water droplets or if it even came from his hand. Didn’t bother to directly look at what he was or not holding. Obviously he didn’t agree to the matched energy. You must be professional and devote yourself to a welcoming appearance. Maybe eating at the bar is not taken lightly at this place. Won’t be going back.

The Beef Kebab was to die for :)It was sirloin steak and it was cooked to perfection, medium rare just how I love my meat.So after a nice workout on a Thursday evening, a friend and I wanted to grab a bite to eat, we decided on The Diplomat since neither one of us had been there, my friend is a big fan of Mediterranean food and I have been hooked on hummus. Parking was a breeze, tons of street parking and if you cant find a spot there is lots of free parking lots in the area. We walked in and was immediately greeted and seated by the friendly staff. Within a couple minutes we were asked for our drink orders and if we were interested on any starter. We ordered the hummus and pita bread, kinda bummed but the hummus was definitely not my favorite, it also wasnt the worse. I felt it could of had more flavor. Shortly after we placed our order, the food did not take long to come out. I was so happy and very satisfied with my dish and so was my friend. Our food was very presentable, flavorful, and enjoyable! The staff was so awesome, they refilled our drinks without us asking, they asked us how everything was and if there was anything else we needed.The Diplomat is definitely a place I will be returning to, its perfect for a date night, lunch or dinner with friends/family, or even just a drink and a bite to go.Give it a try and let me know what you think ;)

I am going to be very honest here. The customer service is great! But I have ordered the Beef kabob and in my opinion, it had a lot of black pepper. I normally like slot of black pepper, but that was way to much. I am not complaining about its the waitress fault, I am assuming the chef really loves to saturate his kabobs in black pepper.So, I did let one of the waitress (or owner), let let her know honestly about the amount of black pepper, she apologized to me and later when we were about to head out, she compensated for what happened.I will come here another time in the near future.

The food was amazing!!!! Second best hummus Ive ever had. (First being my wifes, so I may be biased) the lamb was amazing, tender, flavorful, just perfect. I love mojitos but find that many places either are too sweet or almost pure rum, theirs was perfect balance of both. My only complaint and the reason they got a 4 star instead of 5 is that everything came out way too close together. I am guessing it was all dropped at the same time instead of our apps and our entrees dropped at the same time. Either way ill be back.

We visited the Diplomat with a few friends and were slightly disappointed. Their drinks are decent but not the best. Our waiter was very friendly and never let our water run low. We did try a few things Tapas, but everything was flavorless. We were not very impressed and left hungry. It is a neat place to sit and enjoy company with friends, but maybe just for a drink.

The food is really standard mediocre Mediterranean fare. The service is a bit below average. We were told that we couldnt use a 20% off coupon we had, because we had ordered drinks off a Thirsty Thursday menu. The coupon only said it was void if you order off the Happy Hour menu which is in fact separate from the Thirsty Thursday menu. So we overpaid as well.The shawarma was not spiced very well. The pita and hummus were standard. My wifes salad was very plain. I went here once before just for drinks, and the whiskey drinks were actually pretty good. Stay away from the feta appetizer. They barely give any feta on it (4 tiny strips). If youre looking for much better food I highly recommend Skafs or Elenas. Both are in Glendale.

There was no seasoning and the chicken was UNDERCOOKED.Pita was in a second hand produce bag.Called the restaurant and they offered to give us the olives and feta on the side but nothing more.This experience incredibly upsetting and unfortunately I dont think I have ever had an experience at their restaurant that differed much from this one.
