We had a wonderful time here. We have had oysters all over the world, but these were by far the best ive ever had - plus they are locally sourced! Scallops, the Naked Fish and chowder was just perfect! I highly recommend! Thank you for the amazing meal.

I’ll start off by saying, this place has phenomenal food! They are a smaller place so the wait can be long, but boy is it worth it! The ambiance is wonderful. The views are just gorgeous looking over Morro Bay. I ordered the seafood pasta and my fiancé ordered the scallops- both of our meals were phenomenal! You could taste just how fresh everything was. The clam chowder was also delicious. I only wish we lived closer so that we could visit again. If you’re on the fence about where to eat, I promise this place won’t let you down!

The scallops here are a must-try! They are large, juicy, and tender. The clam chowder was solid! Lots of clams and delicious with the fresh pepper. Prefer it to be creamier/thicker

Very wonderful dining experience with great view of bay. Soft jazzy music set the mood for great lunch with wife. The seafood was very good. I had the rock fish and wife had salmon. Being from central USA it was noticeably better.

This place was the last place before heading home. This place was highly recommended by some of the locals we talked to. They weren’t wrong. I ordered the blackened rockfish with veggies and garlic mashed potatoes. Also a side bowl of clam chowder, because I have to try everyone’s clam chowder. Oh man! This place deserves more than 5 stars! Not only was the food amazingly delicious but the wait staff was on point! Hands down this might be the best restaurant in town. Highly recommend this at least once in your life to try.

We stopped here after a day trip to Morrow Rock Beach. We enjoyed our selections, the fish was fantastic, on the Caesar salad, in the tacos and even naked. Each dish was excellent! The service was quick and friendly. Highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area.

The wife and I were on a quick date while the little one was down for a nap with the grandparents. We were told The Galley was the place to check out and we were pleasantly surprised! We came here over the Memorial Day weekend and there was a one-hour wait. Im actually glad to see places getting busy like this after we survive the Covid-19. Apparently some people walked away hearing the wait time, but around half of the people chose to wait, which is definitely worth it.Food - one of the best scallops I have ever had. Perfectly charred and juicy, and I love how the filet mignon was wrapped by bacon as a bacon lover.Staff - the manager and the bartender were amazing. I feel bad for the manager when he had to tell people about the one-hour wait and someone gave back a grumpy face. Its not his fault. The bartender that night was busy all the time but he managed to take care of everything, including making drink timely and ordering food and checking for people seated at the bar.View - What can I say, you sit next to the bay and that big rock, listening to seals singing, while having the greatest food.

Not too sure what happened to our food... Was here around 7:30 pm and maybe it was the busy weekend due to Thanksgiving or because I arrived pretty close to closing time. But the calamari felt rubbery and the clam chowder was salty beyond words. Scallops were also not as expected. I had a very strong numbing sensation after eating here due to the concentrated salt. Looking at all the reviews, Id like to believe that they just messed up on our particular order. But this was by far the worst food Ive had at a restaurant and I was disappointed

Went here on a Friday night in November around 5pm. We got here a bit late to get a seat inside for sunset but took photos when the sun went down on the patio and saw an otter, could hear the seals, and had a beautiful view of the Morro rock.Food - their clam chowder is amazing! I dont normally enjoy seafood but we had to try it given previous reviews. I also had the blackened rockfish with rice pilaf, which was a solid entree. My husband had a calamari appetizer which he said was okay but didnt enjoy as much as we did the other dishes. Wine list was good, we had the chardonnay which paired well.

When I was in Morro Bay, I stopped by this restaurant.The view was my first impression of this restaurant; if you choose a window table, you can see the entire bay.The food was ok, nothing special. Its not true that the food was bad, but it couldnt make me say Whaooo. I gave them 6.5/10Anyway, so far, so good; the server was friendly.

This restaurant has it all... indoor and outdoor dining, great waterfront view of Morro Rock and the bay, along with wonderful food and service. We ordered a drink for the birthday attendee and also got a free dessert which made our evening. They aim to please! We wanted to share a fish dinner and couldnt decide on salad or fries. They put some of each on both plates. It was lightly breaded and delicate. Very tasty. The steamed clams were different than the norm around here. They are in a garlic tomato sauce. The cocktails arent watery! The staff all had on masks. Awesome choice for a special meal.

Great location and views, excellent service, nice booths. Food was good but not the best. Blackened fish tacos were OK, not enough spice or seasoning. Salad side was good. Clam chowder seemed a bit watered down. Mud pie was excellent, size, quality. Overall good experience, very friendly people but for the price we expected a tad more, only 2 tacos per order? Were going to have to try more chowders in the area to compare.

The service was good. The seafood pasta left something to desired - it was bland and couldve benefited from additional cajun seasoning. The halibut was meaty and cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes were outstanding. I think the best part of our dinner was the mud-pie ice-cream cake! Overall, the price-point for the quality of the food was subpar. We might come back to try the lobster and scallops.

We are from out of town and came a year ago and so thoroughly enjoyed the food, we had to come back for a repeat visit to celebrate our anniversary. I am highly gluten sensitive, and the were very understanding about my needs. I had the Halibut with seasonal veggies w/ fresh garlic and side salad w/ a mango based dressing. Good portions. They topped the dish with a glazed squash slice, which was super yummy. Everything was cooked perfectly and deliciously seasoned. I especially appreciate quality and freshness of the ingredients. The server remembered that we were there to celebrate, and treated us to one of the many gluten free deserts they create! The crème brûlée had a distinctive citrus flavor. We’ll come again, next time we are in Morro Bay! This place is worth the money. And PS - the view and location are fantastic, especially on a beautiful day (like today!)

Delicious seafood and a good filet. Dining inside and outside. The outside patio is covered and has heaters if it gets chilly.I did not see a dessert menu but I had seen a Mud Pie and ordered that.Had the scallop appetizer. Three large scallops in a delicious garlic sauce in the scallops nearly melted like butter. The surf and turf was a good size meal. The turf is a small filet that is bacon wrapped, good flavor. The surf was a small lobster tail cut in half, which was sweet and had great flavor. The vegetables with the surf and turf were absolutely delicious and not overcooked.I will definitely be coming here again to try other items on the menu. And maybe well wait this time to ask for a dessert menu, lol as the mud pie had walnuts in the top layer of chocolate that I couldnt eat. But the rest of the mud pie was delicious too 😁It was also very nice to have such friendly service!!!Yep, will definitely be coming back!

With every table with a view, grab a booth for everyone to enjoy the sights of Morro Rock and the active harbor before you — the Coast Guard, sailboats, otters and kayaks.The clam chowder, famous for good reason, with whole clams and a taste well-reflecting the sea. 11-10-2022 Dinner with a friend. She had halibut with veggies and garlic mashed potatoes. My husband had a special-salmon with teriyaki, pilaf and veggies, and I had roasted Chicken with rice pilaf and veggies. The food looked beautiful and was very good. We also had calamari appetizer, albondiga meatball soup, and a salad with both red and yellow beers. Everything was very good, the waitress was attentive and great atmosphere.2020. After a day of walking and touring about the Morro Bay area we headed to The Galley for our “seafood” dinner. There was a 1 hour wait for an available table so it was an easy decision to accept the two available seats at the bar. The bartender was a pleasant person named Merrisa. Dinner was compose of two slightly dirty martinis, a bottle of Daou Chardonnay, crab cakes that were almost as good as those at McKelvies in Halifax NS, pan seared scallops, two bowls of very awesome clam chowder and lots of bread to soak up the associated sauces. The meal was very good, oceanfront pricey and worth it.

The Galley is never a disappointment they make amazing dishes. Considering we are in this pandemic they were limited to their menu only, no specials but none the less there is many items to choose from. I had the shrimp scampi while my husband had the ahi tuna. Both delicious. The sunset view is amazing from the Galley both inside and out. The staff is pleasant, the restaurant clean and worth every penny. We always look forward to visiting our favorite spot.

Very happy with the service and dinner at the galley. i had a wonderful seat with a view of the water. the outdoor heat lamps had me camping out and sipping wine after the plates were cleared. i had fresh halibut with grilled asparagus and mashed potatoes, and clam chowder to start. my body was ecstatic to have this nice food. my server was jenny and she was an absolute delight, taking great care with the service and experience.i will return. this is a fantastic restaurant.

The food at the Galley has always been top-notch every time my wife and I dine there. August 10, 2023 we had lunch there and the scallops were perfect and the halibut cooked just right and delicious. The cocktails are very good also. Also of note, they are one of the few restaurants that dont call Pacific Rockfish Pacific Red Snapper. Snapper is from the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic ocean, not the Pacific. The only negative this time would be the bread, we were hoping for some warm sour dough and the bread was a little dry and cold. I think Brians sour dough is the best, I wish the Galley served that and everything would be perfect! Still, the Galley is about the best food you will get in Morro Bay.

This restaurant is definitely worth stopping off at.We had a little bit of everything the steak, lobster, halibut, crab cakes and pasta. Plus the dessert, Yum!! This was my wife and my favorite dining location while visiting in Pismo. Was actually going to go to Windows on the Water but made reservations here a few weeks in advance based on reviews. This has got to be one of the most romantic and intimate places to have dinner, especially right across the bay from the big Morro Rock. Service was top notch, food was amazing, and did I mention the awesome ambience!!! Started with crab cakes and seared ahi for app, and the best Clam chowder, then wife had surf and turf while I had the lamb chops - wow a whole rack!!!! We shared creme brulee and the amazing mud pie for dessert. Everything was amazing and we just took our time with the amazing sunset and views. I think we were there about 2 hours and believe this is the absolute best dining in the area. Reservations are definitely recommended and every table has a beautiful view right on the bay. Cant wait to go back.

Walked in and was offered inside or outside seating. We decided to seat outside which had about 5 tables that were enclosed by glass enclosures that was perfect for outdoor dining. Had a shrimp Louis salad, calamari strip appetizer and the shrimp scampi dish. Everything was cooked and presented well. Service and the scenery topped off the experience. Eating here was a pretty great experience. The Shrimp Scampi was delicious!!! The Calamari was a new experience. They were accommodating to my baby which was great and my family and I watched the Sea Otters from our ocean front view.The only thing I wasnt use to was the bathroom being outside of the building and the sauce that was used on the BLT. Usually LOVE the Galley, and while the service was great, the food was a step down from what we remember. I got fish & chips. The fries were great, but the fish was overdone and dry. This review will be more in depth then most. I went to the Galley with friends, so I asked for their opinions too.We called ahead, they had an hour wait. We were prepared for that, so we took in the views of the Bay. These views can be seen throughout your dinner and it’s gorgeous. We were able to see some sea lions and a beautiful sunset.They have a very large wine selection and great cocktails. Unless you want a domestic bottled beer, this isn’t your place for beer. They currently only had two on tap.3 out of the 4 of us started with a bowl of the clam chowder. The moment I took the first bite, I knew I was going to be very happy that we chose this place for dinner. Some of the best Clam Chowder I’ve ever had.The odd one out ended up getting a starter. This however benefits this review because Rod ended up ordering just about all of the starters. In his words:1. Oysters were “licking the beach” good. Very briney and fresh.2. Scallops: perfectly cooked, sauce was complex but muted, really let the fresh scallops shine through.3. Crab cakes: was most impressed by these. Lots of fresh crab meat without a bunch of garbage fillers a lot of places add. Fresh and masterfully prepared. I loved this place mostly because the overall vibe was exactly what they presented themselves to be. There was no “gimmick”, no designer cocktails (the martini was just an excellent basic martini—exactly as it should be), no massive bourbon list or microbrews, no trendy design. There is only one thing I didn’t like and that’s the fact that it was gone way too fast.One buddy ordered the special with halibut over rice and the other ordered fish and chips. There was not one bad thing any of us could say about our dinner.Just when I thought they were finished, they offered us dessert and we couldn’t say no. They brought out the best crème brûlée I’ve ever had. This was extremely surprising; due to the fact that I wouldn’t expect this from a seafood restaurant. We requested a side of ice cream with caramel drizzle.That was the food but I sure would be remiss if I didn’t mention how fantastic the service was. From the time we stepped through the door, until the time we left, we felt well taken care of. I wish more than anything that I could remember the name of the nice lady who served usWe would gladly return again and again.

The Galley serves what they call naked fish, meaning fish that is unadorned by batter or sauces. Just a light fry with salt, pepper, and perhaps a few other seasonings. Its the best way to enjoy fresh fish. I ordered the halibut served with a side of yogurt dill sauce. Cooked to a perfect medium rare. Highly recommend it. Great service, although I visited during the day with few customers. Nevertheless, the staff was friendly and attentive (but not intrusive). Sat next to the windows on the water and overlooking the harbor on a beautiful sunny afternoon.

Fantastic place to eat! We sat outside at night and they had heated lamps because it can get chilly but I was extremely comfortable and not cold at all ( it’s easy for me to get the chills) . I reached out to The Galley staff on a reccomendation from the owners of Estero Inn. The Galley prepared a special menu for us so that my wife was able to be reminded that she was the best thing on the menu. Not only did The Galley staff deliver something that brought my wife to tears, but the food was great. We had a table that was facing Morro rock and the ambiance inside the restaurant was perfect. I cannot overstate how delicious this restaurant is that is compounded by even better service. I came last week on a Monday evening (pro-tip, off season/off weekend is the best time to come) and met the owner as well as a lovely bartender. They both provided excellent food recommendations (rockfish - 10/10) and history/social/environmental issues plaguing the area. It felt like an informal tour with yummy food. I sat at the bar and had I not, I would not have heard the personalized way in which the owner greeted each customer and the thanks customers offered on the way out. It was truly heart warming. The only regret was my waistline, which grew substantially overnight. Would certainly return and recommend any visitor/local frequent.

The food was very good except the grilled asparagus was quite woody and frankly was inedible. The salad was served on the plate with the fried fish. We are already eating outside, I would have liked the salad in a chilled bowl. The dressing for the salad, the tarter sauce and a redish/orange sauce for the crab cakes was excellent. Overall it was a very good experience. The iced tea was refilled as was the hot water pot for the hot tea. I would be happy to go back. So excited to get back out on the bay this crew! The service is awesome and the food is tasty. Make sure to bring a designated driver though cause they mean it when they say bottomless mimosas. This is a must have experience!

I’ve lived in Morro Bay for 22 years and would dine at the Galley frequently until about eight years ago. It was great, and they knew how to prepare fish perfectly. They’re a failure now! I’ve had much better fish at McDonalds. The thick coating and dry fish was disgusting. The fries were terrible, again, McDonalds is better, and that’s a pretty low bar. We’ll never go back.

It was a busy Saturday night and we walked in to The Galley in Morro Bay without a reservation at about 6:20pm 11/16. A brutal time for any restaurant on Saturday night! We asked Dave for a table and he told us that it would be about a 20 minute wait for table seating or we could be immediately seated at the bar. Great times! Dave Is a first class service provider. Most others cant hold a candle!The bar seating/service/experience was incredible! Leigh Ann provided warm, inviting service and the food was delivered promptly and timely after our order. She was constantantly attending to us and we did not wait for anything. The quality and appearance of the dishes was exceptional. Each one perfectly prepared and great tasting. We would highly recommend The Galley to anyone looking for a great meal and experience.

Saw the high rating and decided to check out the hype. John was the host this evening and he was very professional. He put me on the waiting list and actually gave me a call when the table was ready. The environment was relaxing, the ocean view was beautiful, and the food was high quality. I wish I could remember my waitresses name because she was fantastic. Appetizers were seared scallops and prawns in a butter sauce. I found these to be tenderly delicious. Bread and butter followed. My date had the blackened salmon and I had the blackened halibut. The salmon just falls apart in your mouth; its absolutely delicious. The halibut paired with the tartar or the yogurt will blow you away. To wrap things up we split a mud pie for desert. Bring your wallet because it is pricey. However with great service, delicious food, and a beautiful view, you definitely get what you pay for.

There are very few restaurants I have been in that are forever memorable and this one is it!! EXCELLENT service, excellent food, and a very pleasant environment. We had the Fish tacos and the fish and ships and both were the best I have ever had, fresh fish and incredible sauces. Thanks so much for such a wonderful highlight of our short visit to Morro Bay. On Thanksgiving weekend, our party of 3 women (searching for trouble on Thanksgiving weekend) enjoyed a wonderful lunch on Sunday, noon. Highly recommend the Vegetarian Lasagne! Service was quick and friendly despite the crowd they had. They are well-staffed. The local yacht club put on quite an entertaining display in the harbor with their morning and afternoon races. Was fun to watch while eating delicious food!

Without a doubt the best boiled seafood restaurant in the Nola metropolitan area. Can be a little pricier than others, but you’re getting quality. Only have ever gone for dinner and the waiters are all stellar. Good cold beer, and the other entrees are delicious from what I’ve had (lasagna, grilled fish, SOFT SHELL CRAB). You won’t regret it.

Delicious food on the pricey side-- worth it for a date night. MAKE RESERVATIONS. Without a reservation the wait wasnt too bad as long as you dont mind bar seating. Overhearing the bartender-- that lady knows her stuff. You can watch the kitchen staff on a little screen if you want to. Im sure the view is a knock-out, but we were there on a foggy, foggy, so foggy evening. What ocean? Theres water there? As a coastal native I wasnt expecting to actually see it. Food is worth it none-the-less. Atmosphere is upscale but you are fine wearing your tourist garb-- many people do.

I ate the best salmon fish ive ever had in my life.the staff were really friendly and i felt really good at the place.the view was phenomenal,i could see the Rock and the ocean scenery all together . i will go there if i travel to Morro bay again.
