Opera Santa Barbara put on an amazing performance! We are so lucky to have such an opportunity here, and the Granada is always one of my very favorite places in town. Its so beautiful.

The theater is beautiful and there is not a bad seat in the building. The staff is wonderful and every performance I have been to, including this evening’s Alvinailey American Dance Theater, has been excellent. I highly recommend supporting the Theater, it is a special place. Try something new, if you havent experienced a show here youre in for a treat.
I was at the Granada Theatre lastnight to see Postmodern Jukebox. It was my first time there. What a beautiful building the Granada Theatre is. I sat in the 3rd row of the loge section, had plenty of legroom and the seats were great! The parking for the Granada couldnt be any better with a City of Santa Barbara parking structure right behind the theatre, 3 bucks for the evening. It was a wonderful expierience. And I cant say enough about the act I was there to see, they werent just great, but they were fun too. And the building is a gem.
The Granada underwent renovations for a number of years and the resulting theater is much like the old one except it is no longer shabby. Absolutely beautiful - the Granada is great as it is reminiscent of the golden age of Hollywood - red velvet drapes with gold ties, curved staircases - lovely and elegant - much smaller and more intimate than the Arlington so all seats enable one to see the performance. I saw Sleeping Beauty several days ago and while the ballet was about 20 minutes longer than it needed to be, the fact that the live orchestra is visible by looking down more than made up for this.
Saw Carmen. I love the theater. Beautiful, immaculate, comfortable seating, good acoustics, friendly ushers.
The history and beauty of this theater is a must see and learn. Saw a beautiful show tonight. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The only disappointment was that the concession stand was closed.
Great theater! Saw the Kodo Drummers and the acoustics were outstanding. Not a bad seat in the house! The only annoying thing was that in February of 2023 they still required masks?????? Not sure if that came from the venue or the performers, but please........enough already!

The Grenada theater is the top indoor venue in Santa Barbara. For plays, symphonic works or ballet, it offers great acoustics and high end seating. Recently gutted and rebuilt, it is surprisingly comfortable as a larger venue. Parking is easy as well, directly behind with access from Anacapa.
Classic, well maintained theatre. Most seats have clear unobstructed view. Early 20th century Spanish themed decor. On State Street, restaurants a bars withing walking distance.( Some restaurants close kitchens bizarrely early so if planning dinner and a show, consider do doing it in that order rather than after show dining). Ticketing / and entry frequently back up to external pavements on State Street. Thats not typically a problem with mild local climate but can be in winter.
Beautiful historic old theater that has been gloriously renovated. Great concert venue, although there are some seats with a bit of a muddy acoustic experience. Tip: best seats for some performances are front row balcony.
Kismet was fabulous! And the Granada did things great! Vax cards and masks mandatory and most everyone was compliant. The performers were amazing!!!

This is THE theatre of Santa Barbara. Not too long ago, The Granada Theatre was painstakingly restored to as close to as original as possible. All the way down to the gold leaf that adorns the theatre ceiling. The original design plans were adhered to; spared no expense.
Beautiful theater located right in downtown. This historic location is great for hosting a wide range of different entertainment taste.A must for anyone looking for a spectacular night out on the town depending on your taste.

This is a beautiful theater! Theres a moderately priced concession stand. The way the theater is shaped the sound is never an issue, no matter where you sit. I worked security here and the honestly isnt a bad seat in the house. Wonderful venue!
Nice, small theater to enjoy a show. We saw ShenYun. It was quite enjoyable. The theater had helpful, considerate attendants and access was not horribly impeded for a travel wheelchair. Doors opened 30 minutes before the show started.
Was so excited to see jersey boys. The show was fantastic. That’s the best part I could say about the Grenada experience.Check in at the door they want ID & vaccination cards no problem then you have to wear a mask the whole time? Why? I’m told because it’s a big event. The Super Bowl much bigger & there were no masks there. OK fine we’ll wear a mask. It’s so hot & stuffy sitting with a mask on in our seat.Intermission comes, we’re thirsty, because it’s so hot and dry. They’re not serving any drinks in fact there’s no bar, there’s nowhere to get water except for a drinking fountain. Interesting there’s a line of people touching the drinking putting their mouth on the button but that’s OK and it’s not being sanitized?But people are walking around with a mask? Don’t you realize that Covid spreads by touch and hands not because of a mask?The mask mandate was lifted!!!!!Until they fix this flaw I will never go back again .I don’t care what show is playing!

Beautiful old theater thoroughly refurbished a few years ago.Can be a little tough to see over peoples heads in the expensive orchestra seats. Dont be afraid to sit back in rows L-T!Very nice acoustics and great HVAC. Its always a comfortable temperature.

This is a very nice venue. I have enough history living here to remember is as a movie theatre and they have done a nice job with it. Adding the parking complex to the back is also a huge plus for it.If I have any complaints, it is the seating at the very top have no leg room.If you are a larger person, those seats are harder to sit in.

I would highly suggest not purchasing tickets in the balcony section starting with row M and up. The seats had no leg room, so if you are over 411 your legs have no room. My sister who is 6 feet tall and to seat sideways in order to prevent her knees from going into someones head or back. I am 58 and my legs were pressed against the back of the seat in front of me. Other than that the theatre is very nice, the restrooms were clean and well stocked.
ADA tickets were near impossible to buy due to disorganization and the access wasnt great either. The people at the venue were great though.
Im a volunteer here. This place is beautiful and ambiance is lovely. One can see the most awesome acts. Spanish Guitar, The Jersey Boys, Irish Christmas, the Nutcracker, and many other offerings! Advance tickets are advised. The staff and the volunteers are bar none! Enjoy!

Granada Theatre is beautiful inside and outside. It.has good acoustics and the seats are comfortable. We went for a musical performance and enjoyed it. There are ample bathrooms. We did not use the elevators and am not sure if they have any. Enquire if you need elevatorsPublic parking is available near it
Went here for a school promoted concert. The staff was friendly, the facility was clean and I overall had a pleasant experience. Although the amount of seats to choose from may seem overwhelming, keep in mind that I chose a seat in back and still felt the intimacy of the performance. Now if you want to feel as if youre the only person in the crowd, I would encourage seating towards the front it may be more expensive, but my friend who sat their stated to have heard everything. Even the breaths of the singer (had no microphone). Recommend attending this theater for classical performances.
Came to see Nigella Lawson and had to wear a mask for the first time in forever! Nearly walked out before walking in … My gripe is that it was not obvious that this was the case when we bought tickets.
Hadnt been to this theater in what seems like ages. Took me back to my childhood and and was so glad to have experienced it with my granddaughter.
Great show, excellent acoustics and lighting, great screen and stage management. But my experience was a bit marred by not being able to see some of the show action; Im an average height guy, and another average-build guy in front of my F-row seat blocked my view of the middle stage floor, which was unfortunate while watching a modern dance show.
After 18 years in SB, I finally went to an event at the Granada. It is a beautiful theater! It is on the smaller side so if you are on the first level, you wont really have a bad seat. I recommend this for seeing events locally versus driving to L.A. to see the same thing in a larger theater where you may not be able see as well.
This is just a wonderfully beautiful theater. The seats were comfortable and the view was great. I did struggle with the sound trying to hear the words as they were being sung. I would definitely come back for another show.
Historic venue suitable for performing arts. Good handicapped accommodations. Orchestra put sized for 50, stage sized for Broadway sets, 1100 seats with one balcony and 4 box seats in extreme wings.Elevator available. Has a reception lobby on second floor. We saw Kristin Chenowith and the audio was perfect. They have done a good job with the audio, I heard everything when she went unmiked for the encore, fro. The back row. For the grand dame of the city performing arts venues, its pretty impressive what they have done to upgrade the Granada (approximately 2010).
The theater is lovely. Its not fair, but Im giving 5 stars because I saw the best opera of my life there - Carmen, 2016, only two days... It was mesmerizing. How much of that credit does the building deserve?... Hmm.

Show was great. Seating is tight no leg space. Like old movie theaters. No concessions at all due to Covid. Very hard on someone with asthma.
Took me a phew shows to get used to the confused design. It was remodeled recently and it has a vibe of 90s convention center mixed with old theater. Anyways, the sound is incredible and there isnt a bad seat in the house. The shows they get are top notch
Beautiful. The sounds are full and able to be heard when a violinst plays at pianissimo or when a folk rock band has a break within their song. The actual interior is absolutely beautiful. You should probably check it out.
Its so exciting to see this building coming back to life! The Jazz Concert, 09/06/16, hosted by the Inland Conservatory For The Performing Arts was outstanding! Now that the Granada is home to these young artists, our support is needed to help renovate this beautiful building in the same Art Deco decor. Looking forward to ICPA performances and seeing the public coming out to enjoy all the shows and events that will be held here!

This is a beautiful live-performance theater in Santa Barbara! Except they refuse to refund the price of expensive Shen Yun tickets after the staff blundered our experience to an absolute extreme! The management shows not care about future patronage nor do they care about families with children! Dont bring your 7 year old into this establishment. Stay home is better!

One star for the policy makers that turned me away from an oversold show with a ticket in hand.
Attended a rock concert at the Granada. The concert ticket purchasing was unclear and didnt specify packages that were later added. Timing for ticket pick up, show start times, and meet and greet with artist were changed several times via email the week leading up to the show. Staff were unfriendly and short with guests. Each concession stand had 2 beers and 2 wine options, after asking the wait staff if there were other drink options within the venue they told us that a bar upstairs would be open for cocktails. The cocktails we purchased were filled to nearly the top of each glass with alcohol and mixers handed to us to add into our drinks. Unfortunately, we both strongly suspect that the alcohol at the Granada is being watered down or cut with water. Both of our drinks tasted more like ice water than any alcohol. Dont recommend this venue experience.
A recent multi-million dollar renovation has made this a remarkable performance venue for Opera Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara Symphony, State Street Ballet, touring performance ensembles, and other entertainments for all ages. This is a cultural and historical landmark that has been graced in years past by the likes of the late Sir John Gielgud, Ethel Barrymore, Will Rogers, Herbert Von Karajan, and Henry Fonda. There isnt a bad seat in the house and the acoustics are first rate.

Air conditioning is terrible. About 45 minutes into the show the air comes on and blows down the back of your neck if you are in the balcony. I sometimes bring a small airline blanket and/or wear a heavy jacket. I hear people complain that the first floor is too hot. I buy a ticket upstairs because I dont want to look at the back of someones head or between two people in order to see the show as is necessary on the first floor.
I always love coming to the Granada. Its even more beautiful since its been restored. Its one of my favorite building in Santa Barbara.

Lincoln Center Jazz, with Wynton Marsalis at the Granada Theater in Santa Barbara! What a great show. Excellent music, wonderful dancing. Wynton closed with a quartet offering, dancers improvising to bebop rhythms. Simply great!
Great facilities for performers. Smaller stage and backstage area. A bit difficult to hear on stage. Acoustics are on the dry side. Feedback from hall was minimal when hall was filled.

Really excellent theatre in trendy Santa Barbara. Vallet, or public parking available. We parked further away and grabbed a Uber and enjoyed the walked back to stop for eats and treats.
A beautiful, historic theatre with lots of period style and charm. We sat in the back of the balcony and could still easily see, and hear, people on-stage.

2023-10-27 20:43:18Went for a Symphony of Beethoven on a Saturday night. Wasn’t too busy and we bought the cheaper seats that were high up. The sounds was still good up there and you could still see the stage just fine. I saw some people have binoculars. If you want to have a better view, I would recommend buying the seats lower or on the side balconies close to the stage. Please see my review photos for reference. Staff was friendly and drinks were reasonably priced. The place is pretty, beautiful details, bathroom were clean and the seats appeared to be clean as well. If your in town I recommend going for a show and I heard they have membership plans as well. They called me a couple days after to ask if I wanted to purchase a yearly package but I’m not from the area and this was a one time thing for me. I found out about this symphony event on “Meetup”.com

2023-10-22 06:18:55Beautiful theater in downtown Santa Barbara. We caught the opening night of the ballet, Giselle. We’ve never been to the ballet before and decided to go on a whim while we were in town. We had a wonderful time! Tickets were fairly priced and our seats were in the first section, very close to the stage. Highly recommend picking up your tickets in person at the box office, if possible. We saved a lot of money over the prices that were advertised online!

The venue was full, stunning and had good acoustics.It would have been great to see some close up video feed on the backstreet mixed in the the computer graphics they showed.

2023-05-24 18:42:38The theater is beautiful, however the total experience wasnt great. Although I went directly to their website for tickets I paid an exhorbinate amount for tickets in the very last row of the balcony. Sadly I found the Book of Mormon to be racist, vulgar and demonic.

2019-04-07 00:02:13Ive been to this iconic Santa Barbara theater many times. The restoration they have done brings it back to its Glory days. I have seen concerts and plays and ballets and have always been amazed at the exceptional decor of this iconic theater. Every time I walk in I harkened back to the old days of real theater. I think about the amount of people that have examined and walked the Halls, sat in the seats and seen wonderful performances. What a wonderful old theater and building. If you wish to see what a theater back in time really looked like you need to go to the Granada.
