A great place to visit when in Lake Tahoe.The owners did a great job remodeling the old Italian restaurant. The decor is simple elegant, colors very neutral to make you feel at ease and a great attention to details.I started with the ceviche and it was phenomenal, the fish tasted fresh and there was just the right amount of lemon juice and spices to give you a burst of flavors.For the main dish I had the Duck two ways and I was very nicely cooked, crispy on the outside and super tender and moist on the inside.The glaze reduction took things to another level.My wife had the Portobello Mushroom and it was also at the same level of taste and flavors. I was impressed on how the chef made simple vegetables taste so good.Kim was our waitress, she did a great job.This restaurant is a must if you are in town, we will definitely be back.

I recently had brunch and dinner at the Lake House when I was in South Tahoe for New Years. I had brunch at The Lake House and ordered the mushroom omelette with a side of bacon. The potatoes were good but my friend ordered fries and it was better than Mc Donald’s! It was so delicious I had to go back and try the dinner menu.Dinner was amazing. I probably ordered way too much but everything was delicious.Appetizers:Beef TartareCrab CakesEntree:Lamb ChopsEverything was cooked perfectly! I can’t wait to go back when I’m in town.
So glad we decided to go to The Lake House for brunch last weekend. Their Lake House Eggs Benedict is a revelation. This is what a perfectly cooked and artfully crafted meal is supposed to be. 10 out of 10. No need for additional hot sauces, even though they bring them out for each table, everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal, the spectacular coffee, the fine outdoor dining experience and the impeccable service. We’ll be back for sure!
This was absolutely tasty.The duck was PERFECTLY cooked. The apps were amazing—this is the first steak tartare I’ve had that was not aggressively seasoned. The hamachi ceviche was so tasty that I wanted to keep eating it. And last but not least the Caesar was was one of the best salads I’ve ever had, like ever.
One of the best meals I’ve had in awhile. This place had such a nice ambiance but still managed to be pleasantly low key. They had a great wine selection and the service was fantastic. I will definitely come here again when I’m in the area next!
The restaurant has creative and classy decor and design. The food is also good, and is pricey, but not unexpectedly so. The servers are pleasant and helpful.The not-so-good: there is a Free Wifi sign at the entrance. Unfortunately, when I asked for the password, it didnt work. A server offered to type it in, and also could not get it to work.We arrived hungry, and were told that there was a 10 minute wait, even though more than half of the tables were empty.I hoped for some bread and butter while we waited for our dinner. Nope, thats not part of the experience.On the bill, there was a 5% Surcharge - what is that all about? Why not just adjust the menu prices to reflect the price of the meal, instead of a last-minute, unexplained gotcha?Its highly rated, a beautiful place, but the management really needs to work on the details.

Served by a gentleman who managed to make serving an art form.The Lamb: 5/5 best, juicy thing I’ve ever had in the entire lamb department.As for the steelhead trout plate…which was so beautifully created. However this is where we first discovered a food allergy. My tongue went tingling then numb in the first bite and I couldn’t feel my bottom lip fully for an hour. Sigh..P.S. skip the ceviche as the chef confusedly stuck avocado all over it and made it an edible flop.
The food was amazing, all made with fresh ingredients and seasoned just right. It was pretty hard to get a reservation because we were a group of 10 but in the end we’re glad we managed to dine there.

Was looking for a new place to take my wife for a romantic dinner. The Lake House had great reviews and the menu looked perfect.Went on a Sat at 6pm. Not crowded but also not empty.The decor is really elegant but rustic. Everyone was extremely nice and welcoming. We were sat inside but there is a large outdoor area too.Started with the Calamari appetizer. Delicious and cooked perfectly. This is a dish my wife and I try at every restaurant and the Lake House version ranks at the top.My wife ordered the shrimp and scallops dish. Scallops are her favorite and she has high standards. They were exceeded. I think she said they were the best shes ever had.I ordered the special which was fish with salsa verde. It was a dish Im not generally going to order but I thought why not try something different. It was amazing. The fish was perfectly seared and the sauce fantastic. Glad I ordered it.For dessert we did the lemon cheesecake. Wonderful as well.One note is they only have beer and wine. Not a full bar if that is something you are looking for.Our server was friendly and regularly checked in with us. We really appreciated this.100% recommended.
I really wanted to like this place. It has all the elements that a good resturant has: great atmosphere, locally owned, nicely decorated and a good menu variety.Maybe the kitchen was off during the day we came, but our food was lacking.Duck Two Ways: Duck breast and leg were on the chewy side with the leg being dry. Mashed potatoes were good. Brocollini was overcooked, soft and unseasoned. There were also burnt pieces in my sauce.Chicken Marsala: Dry. Dry. Dry. Marsala sauce was thin and flavorless. Brocollini was overcooked, soft, and unseasoned.ALSO, the water they served was warm! I dont mind tap water but Jesus put some ice cubes in your pitcher.Service: Personable and funny. Staff were actually nice.Additionally, they recently started to charge a 5% surcharge on all bills due to the rise of inflation - I read keeping the lights on, sustain a great product, dedication to providing a living wage to employees Which I am all for paying your employees a living wage HOWEVER I was told personally that the owner pockets this 5% and the workers do not see a cent?Very disappointed, as there are many rave reviews for this place.
Absolutely love this place, probably the best diner spot in SLT! The tartare and ceviche are our favorites, and they make you feel special on an occasion. Great staff, wonderful ambiance.
We shared the Caesar salad, lobster chowder, filet mignon with scallops, and tiramisu. Salad had weird lemon flavor but lots of delicious shaved parm. He liked the chowder, but it had too much herbs for me. Steak was terrible, chewy, overall not worth nearly $50. I enjoyed the scallops. Tiramisu was dry. And we felt rushed for our romantic celebratory dinner even though they were not busy at the time.
What more can I say! New edge fine dining at Y what more can you ask for! This place is completely remodeled with some really creative decor. Definitely a great place for date night! The food here is so flavorful and just the perfect amount of items to chose from, also with a nightly special. The wine and beer list has some really great options to chose from with something to pair with any entree or app. One of my favorite! Highly recommend giving this one a try!
This place was mind blowing. Me and my absolutely beautiful girlfriend had several small plates, a salad, and the prawns and scallops. The major highlights were the face melting risotto, buttery cloudy scallops, and the rather large amount of wine. You’d be a fool to skip this place
Food is excellent quality and taste.. Menu small... Atmosphere on the outside deck was really nice. Service a bit slow... Giving 3 stars do to a 5% surcharge fee that was not disclosed or explained... Very expensive meal and extra charges... If you dont mind paying the high prices and surcharges... The food is excellent!
Hidden gem! First time here and have been coming to south lake for a very long time! Small and intimate restaurant with some amazing food! Can’t wait to come back!
Great location. The menu was good. The staff seemed confused. Our main course took 1 hour and 45 minutes to be served. It arrived cold. No checkin from waiters. The restaurant was not busy. Not sure what went wrong. Leftovers were great after heating in microwave. So much better served hot!
Firstly, located on a strip next to motels and industrial parts of the road. Second, looks like an outhouse from the outside.But the worse is the pretentious attitude by the staff. Beware: they also don’t allow children under 8 (strange random cutoff), and it doesn’t say that anywhere on open table.In summary, rude place that looks like should be a hot dog stand at best.
GO HERE. Seriously the best higher end restaurant in south lake. We’ve been here 15+ times and never have had a bad meal or service. The lamb, duck, steelhead trout, filet mignon, vegetarian options any of their specials seriously cooked to perfectionAmazing apps and deserts too - best calamari I may have ever had and cheesecake is so unique. Staff so attentive and accommodating and comprehensive wine list. Not to mention really cool decor / mountain ambiance inside. I cannot recommend this place enough
As soon as we walked in the Staff made us felt like we didnt belong in the restaurant and was partially rude wile serving us. Food was good but the service made the whole experience terrible. Also they turned a family away because they had kids under the age of 12 ***NOT FAMILY FREINDLY***
I came here to celebrate my mom 60th birthday and everything here was really good. Everything was perfectly cooked I couldn’t have asked for a better dinner.
This place is absolutely wonderful, on every level. We came here spontaneously while on our honeymoon and we were talking about it for the rest of our trip! The duck is incredible, and the filet mignon melts in your mouth. The crab dip is amazing and our server, Clay, was such a joy to talk to! We came a bit later in the evening and felt that we had to rush through our meal so that we werent holding up the employees, but Clay told us to take our time and enjoy the experience to the fullest. He was so kind and made some great wine suggestions to go with dinner! Dessert was also such a delicious experience. We ordered the cheesecake and the brownie, and both were out of this world. We will be back as soon as possible!!! Thank you Lake House for making our honeymoon even more awesome!!

I will never give this place my business ever. Two strikes theyre out. I was turned away at the door once saying that they did not have any tables available when the restaurant was only a quarter full. By the look of a hostess gave us and another staff member, Im guessing it may have been the way we were dressed. Then I tried to make a reservation for a nice meal out and they said their company policy was not to allow any children under the age of eight. That is absolutely absurd. What else is on their list to discriminate?
A nice hidden place where the food is just amazing. The staff is super friendly and they accommodate many things. I strongly recommend the ribeye and scallop and prawn entrée.
Forget whatever your expectations might have been (theyll pass them). Jeff and the crew at The Lake House took great care of us and our visit here couldnt have been any better. I ordered the fillet mignon with scallops... Hands down THE BEST scallops Ive ever had (favorite dish), seared to perfection and tender as hell. Were coming back anytime were in the area. The tiramisu was bomb too!
Perfect for romantic date after visiting lake tahoe. Had Lamb chops and chicken marsala, the lamb was melting soft. Idk how they did it, they did great job 👏 nice atmosphere and friendly staff.
An all-around wonderful experience with traditional plates in a modern setting. The service was extremely fast courteous. The butternut squash soup was delicious.
Our server Heather was great. My wife was extremely pleased with her service, and is typically very critical of Servers attentive, yet not hovering, attempt for balance. The product was obviously quality on the Culinary side, and everything was prepared perfectly. Really nice execution all together! We will return & recommend.
I have enjoyed this restaurant several times. Their portions are huge, service is excellent and food is really good. Lamb chops on spinach with roasted potatoes were really tasty! Fish and steak are also good choices!

The service was great, our server, Clay, was very attentive and on top of things.My entrée was delicious, the duck two ways was well seasoned and the portion was just right. I also heard nothing but praise for the filet that was ordered by my date. The mushroom and truffle risotto, however, was a bit bland for my tastes. My date disagreed and thought it was good. I deemed it merely acceptable but nothing special, unlike the entrée. The chocolate mint with sea salt at the end was too salty (says my date - I dont care for mint) but other than a few small things, a very decent experience on the food.The ambiance here is also quite wonderful. The decor looks wonderful and cozy, its well lit while still being romantic and not blinding. The layout is very clean and works well.All in all, 4 out of 5 stars.

As good a meal as I’ve had in a long time. I had the wedge salad with lots of bacon and candied pecans and the shrimp and scallops chimichurri. My wife had the chicken Marsala. Both were delish. The service was also attentive.
My husband and I have lived and worked (restaurants and casinos) in Lake Tahoe for 40+ years. We have good friends that are the owners or managers of several restaurants here. We are good customers and have rarely sent food back or complained knowing what a tough business food service can be.We’ve had takeout from the Lake House before and have been told it’s busy or a holiday weekend so no takeout then. No problem. On Thursday, December 22nd I ordered 1 appetizer, 1 entree and 1 salad to go. When we came to pick it up we checked out the dining area and saw 3 tables in use. I paid for the food with a credit card and laughed about needing my glasses then told the server I liked to tip cash having been a waitress myself and left 18% on the to go order. There were no special requests or substitutions. When I saw the receipt the next day I noticed I had been charged an extra 20% “large party” tip on top of my cash tip. I called the Lake House for an explanation 3x but was told a manager would call me. This did not happen. So I went in person 5 days later to ask for this “large party” charge to be removed but was given a big run around. 1st lie : I had been told that night of the extra charge. Nope. 2nd lie: it was really busy that night (3 2top tables?)Nope. 3rd lie they don’t do takeout (please read their website) so they had to charge extra. One server offered to partially pay for the added charge and I’m embarrassed to say I took it. It was about dignity. But the worst part was 2 server girls in a snarky voice told me to have a great New Year! How rude.I love our small town feel and my husband and I do everything we can to support our local businesses This bad treatment of local customers really hurt. I don’t know any small businesses that would insult their customers as such. Needless to say I will let my family and friends know about this and will not waste my money on this restaurant again. Shame on them.
So it comes down to the service. Food was great, obviously pricy but mostly worth the price. We did not, however, feel welcome from the moment we walked in to paying the bill. We went for a special dinner, one year anniversary. I had put that in the notes on the reservation too. Three other tables had anniversaries that night that we saw, they all got congratulated, i think a dessert comped, etc. We got chilly service and a wobbly table.I know that may be an entitled opinion, that we should have gotten treated better, but we are paying good money for something that just wasnt there. Our waitress, though polite enough, rushed through our service, with my wife trying multiple times to ask for a glass of wine. We got everything out onto the table, ate, and enjoyed our food. But the service... Maybe head elsewhere. Its not abysmal, but for similar establishments that I have been to I believe you could do better.

Service was great. Food was delicious. I liked their chicken marsala better than my homemade one (that never happens, as Im a great cook). My greatest complaint is that they sat my big family near the restroom. Felt a little prejudice. I also didnt like the nearly half ply toilet paper. It was so cheap that it ripped trying to pull it down. Soo hard to get any. Their paper towels were super nice and thick so its possible their distributor ran out or some other inconvenience prevented them from having quality tp.Either way, their crab, scallops, steaks and chicken were great and we all enjoyed our meal. Also ordered the creme brulee to go (not pictured).This place is not kid friendly (8+ only)
Had high expectations for this place because of the 5 star reviews. My boyfriend and I had the New York special - was a defrosted steak that was extremely chewy and hard to cut. Came with mashed potatoes that were decent and green beans that were undercooked. Paired it with some wine which was probably the best part of the dinner. Save your money and go to another steak house, I would never come here again 😕

My partner and I celebrated my 21st birthday here. We shared the beef tartare, lobster chowder, duck two ways, and steelhead trout. Unfortunately, the food was absolutely terrible and we ended up not finishing more than half of our main courses.- Beef tartare: crostini are drowned in grease. The tartare itself tastes bland and uninspired.- Lobster chowder: Soup came out lukewarm and had to be sent back for reheating. That didnt make this flavorless mess much more enjoyable though.- Duck two ways: Unfortunately, both of these ways were hard and chewy. The flavor profile of everything on this plate is mediocre at best.- Steelhead trout: The Japanese yam was hard because they undercooked it. The rest of the vegetables are doused in olive oil. The fish is literally just plain fish. The sour and grainy eggplant puree was about half a tablespoon plopped onto the side.All in all, for the price point, one would expect the food to at least be properly seasoned but thats not the case for this establishment. We were planning on getting dessert but ended up not because everything was disappointing. Wouldnt recommend.
We had an excellent dinner. The service was top notch & our server was very helpful with wine & meal selections. It was a busy weekend with many visitors in town, but we managed to fine this gem of a place where we could relax & enjoy ourselves.

The dessert menu should be better. Like a smores dessert or something. But the food and service was really good! I was sad that when i booked i had mentioned it was my bfs birthday but nothing was mentioned and nothing special happened. It is okay because we were full anyway. I had the trout which was really good.

What a wonderful surprise! On town for business and found The Lake House for dinner. Everything from decor, food, wine and the little complimentary chocolate at the end of the meal was amazing. Our server Elizabeth was terrific and made sure our experience was a good one...highly recommend!
This was a last minute, made reservations on the way to tahoe dinner choice, and Im so glad we chose it! The wine suggestions were spot on. Dinner was so delicious I had to make myself eat slower. Miranda was so awesome we ended up exchanging book recommendations, and she made sure our 10th anniversary dinner was extra special. We definitely plan on coming back next time we want a nice dinner in Tahoe.

Had date night here with my husband, loved everything about this place. The rustic chic modern decor was especially stunning. The staff was friendly and attentive, although a little slower than expected we never waited too long. We asked for bread as a starter which is available upon request, delicious. My husband loved his king crab and I couldn’t be happier with my chicken Marsala. We both had great sized portions (larger than a typical restaurant) and perfectly filling. We had no room for dessert, but we’re still offered a complimentary chef special chocolate mint sea salt treat before we left, wow!! They have a great selection of wines by the glass and bottle, we were offered tastings when undecided about our choices (by the glass portion). It was a little pricey, but perfectly accurate for our incredible all around experience. We will definitely be coming back for more date nights. Thank you for this beautiful memory!
This is my favorite restaurant, and my wife absolutely loves it as well. Will not disappoint, worth every calorie and penny. The food, service and atmosphere are top-notch, and we look forward to eating here every year when we visit Tahoe.

The outside certainly does not match the inside, which is beautifully decorated, featuring stunning decor. It gave me an authentic Italian restaurant vibe. Of dining experiences where the food is subpar and yet you convince yourself that it is worth the price so you dont feel bad for spending so much on the meal? Do you enjoy old favorites with an irresistible new spin? Then please, do yourself and everyone else a favor and take yourself out to The Lake House.Between the three members of our dining party we had the crab cakes, Hamachi ceviche, escargot, lobster bisque, rib-eye, scallops and shrimp chimichurri, and tofu with mushroom risotto. The crab cakes, ceviche, and risotto were especially tastefully seasoned, and the meat and seafood were cooked perfectly. I would have enjoyed the tofu more of it were marinated, but the mint crust and the risotto served with it were both so flavorful that it did not ruin my enjoyment of the meal.Clay took excellent care of us and us feel very special, taking the time to chat and check in with us just as much as we needed. This is the best dining experience that we have had in South Lake Tahoe. Cant wait to visit again.

Great place to have a delicious dinner; restaurant vibes were a modern/rustic cozy. My husband and I had an early dinner and reservations were easily able to be made online.We had the crab cakes as an appetizer dish and the ribeye and the halibut for entrees; all items were delicious and flavored real well. Flavor combinations for the sides on both the steak and fish were on point.Ended the dinner with tiramisu for dessert, that was also really good! Definitely will return when we are back in the Tahoe area.
Showed up at 5, with a party of 10 people and got turned away because children under 12 are not allowed in the restaurant. We were 8 adults, a 7 year old and a 2 year old. This is stated in their website at the very bottom in the reservation section but should be in a more obvious location. Just want any family to know if you have kids, you CANT EAT HERE! Never had this happen before. There was also literally no one else there, it was a Monday at 5. 🙄 disappointing. Can’t say anything about the food since we are on vacation with our child so we aren’t allowed to eat there

This was my second time here tonight and it was absolutely fantastic. They were a little trepidation about me showing up with my three daughters, but it wasnt an issue.Delicious food all around. So happy to be back and find the same quality I experienced before. The lamb is succulent and the ribeye was cooked to perfection.
Overall the food was good. My plate, which was the pan seared lamb chop, was very tasty. It was a little sweet and full of herbs. I had a glass of their dessert wine, which I wish I remembered the name. We had the crab cakes, escargot, artichoke, and calamari. We loved it all, but we never had escargot before this and it was alright. Not for us. Friendly staff. They were very accommodating and helpful. Its a nice place to try at least once.

When I’m about to spend a few hundred dollars at a restaurant, I’m thoughtful in choosing a place that I deem worthy, especially if I’m bringing guests visiting from another state to try some of California’s best fine dining scene. With that said, I made dining reservations for 7:30pm at The Lake House for 4 people on a Friday evening. It was my first time visiting the Lake Tahoe region as well as my guests’s first time and our vacation was coming to a close so I recommend The Lake House as it has a plethora of solid reviews from countless patrons. It looked like a safe bet but boy was I mistaken. On the night of our dinner reservation, we were running a little late. As I mentioned earlier, our reservation was set for 7:30pm but we were going to be about 5-10 minutes late. I decided to give a courtesy call to The Lake House and profusely apologized that we were running late because we underestimated our ETA. The hostess, over the phone, was giving me attitude because of our tardiness. As soon as I hung up the phone with her, she immediately sends me a text message notifying me that they “only have outdoor seating only” and that “we should dress warm”. Basically punishing us because we were a little late and are not familiar with the area. Not to mention that if you work the the restaurant industry that these types of things happen all the time.We arrive at The Lake House and are greeted by the Hostess, she sarcastically asks if we received her text message update and hopes that we “dressed warmly, did you receive my message to bring coats?” She sent this update less than 5 minutes before we arrived. She guides our party through the restaurant to the back and into an outdoor tented area with other dinners. Our table was not set, no appropriate lighting and the heat lamp wasn’t even on to warm other guests. We were sifting through the dinner menu in the dark with our phone lights illuminating the menu items. Before we were seated, we asked the hostess if there was any way we could possibly wait a little longer for an indoor table to become available? She just said “no no, not really. Nothing else indoors is available”. She said this with a very demeaning attitude almost as if she was punishing us for arriving a little late.My guests and I are visiting from out of town and are not familiar with this area. Its such a shame because the food at The Lake House actually looks very good, but unfortunately if good service doesnt follow good food then no amount ZAGAT awards or Michelin stars will suffice for how we were treated last night. Ive been treated with better service at a drive through than this place has given me. It does not give me pleasure to write this review, especially since many businesses are going through an economic reckoning with COVID-19 restrictions and the record setting west coast wild fires. I would much rather prefer writing a glowing review to lift up small businesses. I should actually be thanking the hostess of The Lake House for saving me my time and money. We ended up spending our last evening at Scusa Italian Risorante and having a wonderful end to our Lake Tahoe trip. Do yourself a favor and skip The Lake House.

Great place to eat, food was great so was the staff. My girlfriend and I have a few food allergies and their entire menu is gluten free, however they use alot of soy, and corn which is a few of our allergies. They could use other ingredients like rice flour to get the same results but better for you. They were patient with us, and answered all our questions with smiles on their mouths, unlike other places weve eaten at. Id go back
After reading all of the excellent reviews was really looking forward to a great dinner. The atmosphere is very nice, it was slow so very quiet. I ordered the rib eye, medium rare. The steak was closer to medium, very chewy, not much marble like you expect in a rib eye, more like a New York. The beef had very little flavor. It had an herb butter on top and that was a good thing or it might not have had any flavor at all. I had asked for the mashed potatoes to be omitted, not substituted, just left off the plate. The plate was served with the steak sitting on top of the mashed potatoes. I waited a few minutes for the server to come back to have the potatoes removed in the kitchen but in the end I didnt want my dinner to get cold so I finagled the steak and asparagus around and scraped them onto a corner of the plate so I could cut my steak. The server witnessed this but said nothing and did not acknowledge what I was doing. The high point of my meal was the asparagus. Cooked perfectly, tasted just like asparagus should. The meal was $40 dollars. I would not pay that again. I may go back to the Lake House another time because of all the good reviews and give it another chance but with all the other places to try, it may take awhile. 😏
This place is the best restaurant we have been to in Tahoe. The chef is amazing. If I were able to give them a Michelin Star I would. Lol.You will not be disappointed. Service and food were wonderful, very warm atmosphere. Was a wonderful respite from the storm coming up to Tahoe from the Bay. Highly recommend a stop here on your way into south Tahoe.
I arrived right after they opened and was second in the door with my wife, When we entered one of the servers were standing there cleaning a table, instead of checking availability she stated that they were booked all night with reservations which is fine until the manager or someone I believed to be the manager came over after hearing her statement and found a availability. We were seated and everything seemed alright but when our food arrived it seemed like they were more focused with how the food looked rather than the quality or taste of it, most of our food was bland and over priced for what it should have been.
Nice ambiance but feels nothing like a Lake House. Interesting chandeliers and the food was quite good. Not a single window and a ways away from any lake. Service was great, we found our waiter to be friendly and more than competent. However, only beer and wine are offered, no cocktails or liquor. Their description online indicated otherwise. Overall we fairly enjoyed our experience.
Didn’t get to eat there unfortunately. Called in to ask if we could be seated and they said they could get us in before 9:15. Drove across town and arrived before then and they sent us away. Would not expect this kind of service from a fine dining restaurant. Will not return.
We found the Lakehouse on yelp after doing some extensive research for the perfect dining experience to celebrate my 30th birthday. It was the cutest little restaurant. The decor was beautiful, and it was a super romantic atmosphere. The service was absolutely fantastic, and the food was literally to die for. I highly recommend the fillet and the scallop and prawn chimichurri.
This has been one of my most favorite food and wine experiences since they opened. I look forward to being here even coming cross.cpuntey for their excellent dining. The Lake House is gift to South Lake Tahoe. Always excellence and extraordinary service. Thanks always Jeff and family!
I had THE MOST magical meal at The Lake House from Appetizer, Entree to Dessert. I am gluten intolerant and was informed EVERYTHING on the menu is gluten free. I was in tastebud heaven. Thank you so much for making eating out enjoyable again.
This place was amazing. We actually ate here twice for dinner during our stay in Tahoe. We had our three year old daughter with us and they made a tasty hot dog with fries especially for her (even though it wasnt on the menu). The atmosphere is romantic without feeling stuffy and arrogant. The service was impeccable. The prices were very reasonable for the quality and quantity you receive. We WILL be back EVERY time we are in South Lake Tahoe (which is numerous times throughout the year).
Absolutely AMAZING! The service was exceptional and the food, to-die-for! One of the best fine dining experiences Ive had. The scallops and prawns chimichurri was on point and my husband raved about the lamb. We will definitely be back.
Seriously, this place is so easily missed by the exterior but oh, my, lanta. Off the charts incredible. They say you eat with your eyes first and this restaurant nails the presentation. Not to mention the flavor combinations and excellent cook on everything we had. Nailing a scallop takes finesse and They we perfect!!A must stop!
Stop searching and just go here! From beginning to end, our meal and service were phenomenal. Everything is house made and the presentation is awesome! For appetizers, we had crab cakes and baba ganoush -both were unbelievably delicious. Our party of four tried 3 of the salads which were all fresh with unIque. For entree we chose the filet, ribeye, and special tomahawk pork chop. I don’t have enough adjectives to describe the flavors except to say we all agree it was the best food we’ve ever tasted. Dessert was creamy gelato followed by their house made sea salt/mint chocolate. Seriously. Stop looking at reviews and go here. The atmosphere is cozy and romantic.
I called and asked if theyd cook the fish I caught earlier that morning. They said they hadnt done that before but theyd be happy to do it. However they didnt just cook my fish...they made not 1 but 2 thoughtful and beautifully plated dishes! They went above and beyond and far exceeded my expectations. This place was cool, had a gorgeous interior, and the staff was extremely hospitable and accommodating! Eat here!

My daughter booked a reservation for a small reception at The Lake House following her destination wedding at Emerald Bay. Jeff, the owner, and his lovely wife, agreed to host this over Labor Day weekend, when they typically dont offer this service. The meal was outstanding. The ambience, equally as wonderful. His two young daughters were little helpers and were just adorable. He helped this anxious mother-of-the-bride make special/surprise arrangements for a beautiful place setting and flower arrangement/candles, even though the table settings were already superb. He even encouraged me to have a nice glass of wine after I arrived to finally settle down after the perfect wedding. Thank you, Jeff & family. Went for a nice dinner during a trip and got an okay dinner. The quality of ingredients and portions were very good, but the serving staff was indifferent and the flavors of the dishes were coming up short of expectations. Had a ribeye with asparagus and potatoes. The cut was fatty but well prepared. Potatoes were lacking. My wifes chicken marsalla was tender, but the sauce added almost nothing. Im not sure how other places compare, as I know mountain towns draw tourists for things besides good food, but I walked out more full than satisfied.
Updated patio is awesome. Trout was excellent.

Ate here with a group of 4. Everyone ordered different dinners. All the food was good. That being said, the ambiance is horrible, there are no windows, the chairs are uncomfortable, and it was cold. Also cannot justify the cost of the meals. Would have given 2 stars but the food really was tasty.

What all the reviews seem to be ignoring here is the Trout. I’ve had it 3 times and every time it has been one of the best meals Ever. The combination of cumin baba ghanoush, veggies in cream sauce with cherry tomatoes wth the perfectly grilled/spiced stealhead trout gives you a different flavor with ever bite
The meals were delicious and service was ok. My husband ordered the Ribeye Steak and I ordered the Chicken Marsala. The chicken could have used more marsala wine and the mushrooms were swimming in this weird gravy-like substance. I couldnt eat that. The yukon potatoes were so over processed that they resembled a loose polenta. Tasty but the texture was off. Further, there was a large party in the main room that was very noisy making it difficult to talk in the back room where we were seated. The server was nice but definitely a newbie-we had to keep asking for him to bring us water, wine, etc. We thought it odd that they didnt serve bread with the meal. The ceasar salad was fresh but the croutons were stale and hard...I was worried about cracking a tooth! The signature dessert, Death by Chocolate, is a must-have. Overall not a bad experience.
We were lookong for a place with a contemporary, stylish decor and an appealing menu. Lake House was great ... hospitable and friendly. We also brought our own bottle of wine, reasonable corkage and immediately offered a decanter in proper glassware. Great restaurant, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Sweet. Mother. of. God. If you have never had a meal you thought was worth $100, you have not been to the Lake House. Take it from a former exec chef: top ingredients, perfectly executed. And service to go with. If you want to pay for cheap food and a lake view someplace else, go ahead. More room at the Lake House for me.
Couldnt rave more about this place. We went for Valentines Day. The food is amazing, the service is excellent, and the ambiance makes it worth any expense. We tried the steak tartare, scallops and prawns, and the ribeye. Dessert was tirimisu. All were terrific. The owner took the time to give us a superb wine recommendation. Definitely recommend it for any special occasion.
The hostess who sits you down was extremely rude, as we arrived we asked if our party of 8 can sit together with attitude she responds “ as long as you don’t take over the restaurant and are loud you can” excuse me? Knowing we wouldn’t be able to get into another restaurant we decided to stay. The food was alright but definitely not fine dining like they claim they cannot even make a steak as requested. Such a shame you want to support small business and they don’t even take the time to be respectful!
The food here was amazing, and the staff was helpful and friendly. Stopped by this place for a bachelorette party, and we had an amazing time. You have to try the Death By Chocolate, it was so good it gave me goosebumps! Only four stars because my chicken marsala had way too much rosemary on it

My wife and I went there to have a couple of drinks, and we were surprised at the menu and the beautiful decor. We didnt have dinner but everything on the menu looked fantastic. As a local I highly recommend this restaurant for a upscale dinner and moderately priced wine selection. So happy to have this place on our side of town.

It was a quant restaurant close to all the good stuff in South Lake Tahoe, but away from the touristy vibe the town can have. Their service was exceptional. Our waitress, Adonica, was so friendly and had great recommendations when it came to the menu. The food portions were perfect and everything tasted great! Get their ceviche, lobster chowder, and lamb chops. Amazing!

2023-09-30 22:25:22Very unassuming from the outside but this is a classy restaurant with friendly and polite staff. Of course the food is spectacular. Definitely a higher end restaurant. For the 2 of us it was nearly $200 based on our food. We ordered a starter, 2 entrees, 1 glass of wine and the king crab legs add-on to 1 entree.Its a higher end restaurant which is reflected the exceptional staff and the higher prices.Would highly recommend the risotto starter and the scallop and prawn chimichurri entree.

The majority of the menu is or can be gluten free. 😍🤩😍Our waitress, Heather, was on top of everything. When I mentioned that my husband and I were splitting an entree, she had it split onto two plate already for us!We had the calamari, crab cakes, chicken marsala, tiramisu, and lemon mascarpone cheesecake 😋 Ive never been to a restaurant where I thought everything was fantastic, until now.The chicken was cooked to perfection, it was tender and juicy and I didnt even need the knife to cut it.FYI, if you like a sweeter tiramisu, this one is less sweet but more coffeey, delicious regardless.

Tender scallops, great shrimp, and fingerling potatoes to soak up the sauce, excellentIts definitely ideal to have a reservation as it seemed the place filled up real quick after 6PM

2023-04-01 21:43:04The crab and artichoke dip was so delicious! Our server Adonica was friendly and provided us with excellent service. Trout had a nice crispy skin. My husband loved his filet and scallops. Cant wait until we are in SLT again so we can eat here again.

I have a severe wheat allergy and was able to enjoy fried calamari!! The risotto and main dishes were delicious. Service, ambience, and food all superb. We’ll be back!

However, it initially arrived more done than we had hoped for. Despite this hiccup, the team was quick to rectify the situation. Their dedication to customer satisfaction indeed shone through.

2023-09-01 03:08:32I went to the lake house tonight for dinner, When I first walked in I was kindly greeted by the gentleman behind the bar he was very nice and welcoming and said the hostess would be right with me . The hostess lily was very sweet and seated me in the bar area which was completely fine with me . I already knew what I wanted when I first walked in .so I ordered a beer first, then I ordered the ribeye, when it came out it was cooked perfectly the way I ordered . Props to the cooks well done . I was very impressed with the quality of service from all the staff including lily she was my waitress as well . I will be back to enjoy the quality of the food and service. And will recommend it to all my friends and family. Its nice to have a good place to eat while staying away from home working ....thanks again for the wonderful service
