The Little IZAKA-YA by KATSU-YA in Sherman Oaks

Hidden gem in sherman oaks. we got here only by accident. when we came in the place was packed. we waited for 15 minutes to get a table at the counter. we tried many different dishes and a couple of rolls and were blown away by the quality and execution. very affordable top quality sushi! very quick service and a very cool and lively place to spend an hour or two.

I haven’t even finished my meal yet and I’ve had incredible service from the greeter who got me a seat at the sushi bar immediately and brought me a water. Then the girl who got me my sake and beer was sweet and cracked me up. The manager on duty was amazing, my sushi chef got my food on time. They even poured my sake since I was by myself! Cleared my edamame bowl. Just over all a cool place and not expensive

Great food n service. The server saw the cook made my order wrong before putting it down in my table she took it back to the kitchen n asked to remake it, I recommend to family n friends.

My new favorite spot! All dishes were phenomenal. Our waiter Laura was super sweet. They were so busy and forgot about my hot green tea and popcorn shrimp but it’s understandable. Still will come back and highly recommend.

This sushi spot is a total gem! Super warm and welcoming staff that make you feel right at home. We love the variety of sushi rolls they serve, from the classic California roll to the zesty Spicy Tuna roll, and the exotic Dragon roll. Their short rib, if its on the menu, is a must-try - its super juicy and packed with flavors. Dont skip the gyoza either, its just as good as the sushi. And for a sweet finish, the green tea tempura is to die for. Seriously, you cant go wrong here!

Little cozy places with amazing tasting sushi. The service both by the manager and the servers was excellent. I would definitely recommend this place.

Always satisfying if not the abundant, fresh and spiffy feel of the Katsu-yas on Ventura Boulevard. It is from the chef and not the SBE version which is so important. And it is much less expensive than either!

What a fantastic little sushi spot! The hostess/owner was so lovely and we and our guests from Japan were totally satisfied by the great food and cozy atmosphere. If the short rib is available, its so juicy and flavorful...not to be missed. The gyoza were on point as well as the large variety of sushi dishes we had. And finally, there was divine green tea tempura for dessert. Do not hesitate, great stuff.

Consistent, delicious little sushi spot. Their lunch bento is such a great deal and just enough food.

Ordered take out for my first visit at this location.The salmon/albacore sushi and the spicy tuna on crispy rice were great.Knocking off a star because the sushi rolls were completely smushed. Pretty disappointing presentation. This really should have been separated into two containers.If you order take out, stick to the sushi and crispy rice. Skip the rolls.
