This place is pricey. I paid 45.00 for two different dishes that tasted exactly the same. They were both bland and very oily. I had the sliced pork with mushrooms and the mandarin beef. They both smelled weird. I will never eat here ever again. Panda is better and Im not a fan of their food. My house smells like burnt cat now.

The vegetable delight was very good. Also tried the fried green beans which were good. When I was there the service was a bit slow. Got our appetizers a few minutes after the food was brought out. But the server was friendly and enjoyed our meal.

We eat at Mandarin at least once a week. They have the friendliest staff, food, best Zombie’s and Mai Tai’s in town. Love the Broccoli Beef, wonton soup, chow mien noodles and Moo Shi Chicken. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The food was good, but its no comparison to traditional Chinese food. I will say its really good for American Style Chinese food. The service is excellent and everytime I go I always tip. What throws me off the most though is that its atmosphere reminds me not of a Chinese restuarant but a sports bar, theres a small area with tables but the other half features a bar area with several kinds of liquor and several tvs always playing the latest sports program.

The problem with having so many choices for Chinese/Asian dining is that when you get used to a place, you have to dine around if that places closes or changes too much. I had mistaken this place for another restaurant and was very pleased to have made the error.The food was excellent! The staff was very friendly and the ambience of the restaurant was inviting and buzzing with energy. We will certainly be making a stop to dine in next time!

This was my first time eating here. I had sweet and sour chicken and steamed rice. The dish needed more sauce, was a bit dry and bland. The restaurant is nice inside and has a bar. Darker setting with purple lights and white linen on the tables. May be a longer wait due to staffing shortage currently.

I have been going to this restaurant for many years and have always been more than pleased with the service as well as the food. I am not one to leave negative reviews, however the past several time I have been here I have experienced issues. Incorrect items on to-go orders, wait times exceedingly long. About a week or so ago I took my mother here for dinner at 4:30 we waited 30 minutes for a bowl of soup another 25 minutes later for an appetizer. The restaurant was pretty much empty when we were there, started to fill up around 5:30. An hour and a half into our evening I asked the young lady if they forgot we ordered entrees. She responded with we only have 1 cook. I then asked to take the food to go as we had waited so long. Then after confirming all of the items were in the bag so we could leave, I thought I had better check. They were not all there. 3 stars for the fabulous food and kind staff. Please fix these issues as I want to stay a loyal customer.

OMGI finally found pressed duck! Pressed duck is very hard to find but the mandarin has it.When I went to pick it up the woman who started the restaurant was there. She is a class act. We spoke a little and I was so impressed I ran next door and got a few flowers for her.And, by the way, it was awsome!

The service.I called ahead and left work early to catch them open. It was my first time trying their Singapore Noodles. I had tons of questions as a very pleasant young woman got them all answered. I showed up and I was rather impressed at how elegant yet welcoming this place is. When I first walked in I was a bit unsure where the proper place for pick up was. I was greeted with a smile and excellent service as they were expecting me. The order was piping hot and ready. So sorry I forgot her name but she welcomed me back another time and I cant wait to try those award winning Mai Tai she spoke of. You Nailed customer service. ( Ill update yr name later)🙂The Food.Mike did an excellent job of explaining the Singapore noodle dish. My late hubby introduced me to this dish and this place did an excellent job of preparing, best in Sacramento/ Carmichael that Ive had. Fresh items too.I expected bigger prawns though, not salad shrimp. I added one spice of my own. Im a cook too.As for the Egg Foo Young... PERFECT. ( That is not easily done.) Personally, I would smooth the lumps a bit more in the gravy and if you like the gravy part of this, I suggest Order extra.( Expect to pay.) Its common.PLUSIT TASTED BETTER THE NEXT DAY. We have found our go to family outing restaurant! Our children rated The Mandarin a 10 out of 10!! So in their words they are an A+ restaurant. Their staff was awesome,... they were very funny friendly warm and welcoming they really made our experience amazing! Now for the food its self, one word... delicious! Absolutely the worst “Chinese food” I’ve ever had!We’ve ordered the Mongolian beef and their “customer favorite” garlic shrimp. To our amazement, they both tasted the same - super sweet!!! I can’t taste anything but sweet, and I even added soy sauce - which I never do, and it was still super sweet!We told the waitress that the food was too sweet, she took them back to the kitchen and came back with them “remade”, but it was just the same food reheated with a lot of chili sauce!! Unbelievable...And it was $40!!!Service was great. But that doesn’t make up for the high price and terrible taste. Don’t understand how it has 4 stars. Please avoid!!!

I was on the fence the first time I went since the quality was bleh (fried rice was okay) but decided to try again since I was starving and was shopping next door. I walked in and stood in plain sight of several employees and no one including the bartender Rita acknowledged us or alerted the host that we were waiting. The bartender was busy inviting everyone to go see her on her birthday. Several other employees saw us too but proceeded to ignore us. We stood there for a long time until the host decided to come out. I was seconds away from walking out.Regarding the food, I can assure you it was so mediocre you can get better quality at Panda Express. The chicken had no flavor and was hardly chewable, the coating was all soggy and fell off the chicken, and the sauces tasted old and flavour-less. I had a few bites and threw away the rest. Terrible quality coupled with terrible service is enough to never return.

I cant believe there are actually people on here giving this place bad reviews. Probably just complete stuck up snobs. I loved everything about this place! The atmosphere was pleasant and calming, it was clean, the staff was nice, our waitress was SO sweet and friendly, the food was INCREDIBLE. First off, you get HUGE portions, which is great because one order of something will serve 3-4 people easily. Me and my boyfriend got an order of shrimp fried rice and an order of the lemon chicken. It took less than 10 minutes to get to us, so theyre very fast over there too! After we had completely stuffed ourselves, we had PLENTY to take home for another whole meal. This place is AMAZING and we will surely be back many many more times. I have NOTHING bad to say about this place :)

This was awful worst Chinese food ever. Been sick since. The kids didnt even like it. This is fake Chinese food said the 7 year old. I wouldnt say fake. But not good. Shrimp was chewy. Chicken over breaded. I asked if the Shrimp was breaded i was told no its not breaded its dipped in flour and corn starch then fried um thats breaded. Ask if its Hong Kong style yes we have Hong Kong noodles I think everyone needs to take a cooking course and culinary history class. I will not eat here again. 3 out of 6 of us are sick. I hope they dont cook for their kids this food. I knew it was going to be bad after the Hong Kong noodles comment. But didnt know how bad. Only reason I didnt leave cause I had a bunch of people with me

Had been wanting to stop in here for some time, today I did. I have been searching for a good Chinese restaurant for a long time, since my old favorite closed when owner retired. Have tried many others but there has never been one that even came close to the memory of the food I used to eat. Today I hit the jackpot! The fried shrimp appetizer was perfection, sweet shrimp in tempura batter perfectly fried. I will remember to ask for hot mustard next time, although the sweet & sour sauce that accompanied it was tasty. Loved the pork chow mein, and the sweet & sour too. The pork fried rice was good, next time will order it with the BBQ pork . I liked the friendly atmosphere of the place . I believe I have finally found my new favorite place.

Not a good first impression. This place has really good Chinese American food but unfortunate not great service. We were ignored opón arrival. After waiting a while at the door we took it opón ourselves to ask the bartender if we could be seated only to have her give a flustered response and had one of her regular customers seating at the bar seat us. After finally being seated we waited an additional 10 minutes before our waiter took our order. He was unpleasant to say the least. After receiving our meal we were pretty much ignored until we received the check. At one point we had to waive down the poor busboy to wait on us for some condiments. To be fair management is primarily responsible for a very unpleasant, unprofessional and poor run establishment not so much the host or the waiter.

I had a great experience here. The food was tasty and fresh. I got a pineapple chicken and my husband got the pressed duck. Service was good and friendly. Presentation was also pretty. The restaurant itself kinda looks like its from Las Vegas though; it has a bunch of purple neon lights. Personally, I thought it was fine, but that might annoy some people.

Their steamed clams are so good! Ive been eating here for more than 20 years and almost every time I come in I get the clams. Theyre not the typical steamed clams you get everywhere else. Not sure what they put in them but it gives it more of an oriental flavor than regular steamed clams. Ive eaten other dishes here as well and theyre all really good. The only thing that could be better is the service. Theyre not the friendliest every time. It really is hit or miss depending on who you get.

I politely ordered food over the phone on a Thursday around 3pm, and the woman on the phone was extremely unprofessional and rude. I then showed up at the restaurant (which did not appear to be at all busy) at 4pm to pick up my food and was left standing at the door for 20 minutes, even though the lady that I ordered the food from (I recognized her voice from over the phone) walked right past me and made direct eye contact with me MULTIPLE times during this 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, she approached me and asked what I was there for, and I told her to pick up food. She then disappeared without saying a word, and 20 minutes later a different person showed up with my food, who didnt seem at all happy to be working there. I was absolutely horrified with the amount of unprofessionalism that the middle aged blond that hardly served me showed. Not only this, but the food was mediocre.

Put all that aside, pay it no mind.The food was GREAT!Had their Shrimp Stuffed Eggplant and Szechuan Beef.Eggplant was stuffed, battered, deep fried and then sauteed with what mustve been a kicked up oyster sauce. The outside was crisp, the inside was tender.The beef too was cooked expertly. It had a light, crispy coating that held on to the sauce without giving up its texture. Went to have some Chinese food with my girlfriend and was approached quite rudley by an older man. We decided to give him the benefit of the doubt that maybe it was some sort of miscommunication until he came back to greet us and made both of us, my girlfriend especially, feel very uncomfortable. We ended up leaving before we got our waters and dont think its worth a trip back. Having worked restaurants for 10 years I try not to be to judgmental of restaurant workers but he was certainly out of line and we were both disppointed.

This is a place where the gwailo go to eat mu shi pork, served in tortillas. (seriously). Its expensive and low quality. But its crowded since the locals dont have better options, or are uncomfortable to stray beyond PF Chang / Panda Express style asian food.
