2023-12-05 01:12:27Food was good I ate the curry chicken. The meat was falling off the bone. It came with rice and peas, cabbage, plantains, and a festival. I originally wanted a stew chicken, but it was sold out, must be fire. The cabbage had no seasoning, and I feel like the rice and peas could be more flavorful. The plantains were bomb and the festival was good too. I also had a chicken patty I would give that a 2 out of 5 overall, this is a good spot. The housemate drinks are amazing and they even have Sorrel .

2023-10-20 12:28:11I hired The Original Coleys to cater my 40th Birthday Party in September and they did a phenomenal job. I spoke to the owners daughter Candice who now runs the business and cooks and she was extremely I instrumental in me fine-tuning the menu. I am half-Jamaican and grew up eating my Grandmothers authentic Jamaican cuisine. Neil and Alejandra were the servers from Coleys who made everything so seamless. They did set-up and clean-up. They brought all the chaffing pans to keep the food warm.I had vegetarian, chicken and beef patties cut in half for the appetizer. The main course was Curru Chicken, Jerk Chicken, Red Beans and Rice, Cabbage, Plantains and Festival Bread! My guests loved the food and had more than 1 plate. Candice is good at knowing how much food to get based upon your final headcount. Also, having the servers from Coleys was helpful to ensure that portions are consistent. I would definitely hire them again!

2023-11-09 21:52:52Food looks and taste amazing. Jamaican food has always been my favorite and it’s authentic so that’s a big plus. This looks like a new place so the service is a bit slow however I have no doubt in no time this place will double in size and more staff will be hire because a Jamaican restaurant is what this part of Valley Glen needed. Will come back if I’m back on this side of town! Had the ox tail

2023-08-23 21:41:15Great atmosphere and excellent service. The people here are above and beyond. I could t recommend a better place for better customer service or a cool vibe. The food was not bad at all but it wasn’t what I’m used to for Jamaican food. It seemed a bit more Americanized but that could just be me. I like a bit more spices in my food. That being said, this is probably a healthier choice than some others or if you’re more into a little less spice this is the place for you. I had the shrimp Curry plate which came with rice, beans, veggies, plantain, and cornbread. I also bought a sour sop drink. It came to $36 if I’m not mistaken. The plate by itself was $23 before tax. The inside is a bit small and intimate. The store is located on a corner lot kind of tucked away in the back corner. There is not an abundance of space so if the shopping center gets busy you may need to find parking.

2023-07-12 23:26:46I stopped in for lunch.I ordered a cheesy beef patty, chicken soup, pineapple upside down cake, and aTing drink. The dessert and drink made my drink a little pricey for lunch.I enjoyed my patty and it tasted how it should. The soup was disappointing. It was really just broth with 2 dumplings, 3 pieces of carrot, and 2 small pieces of chicken back. I opted out of the corn piece. The broth didn’t have a rich flavor like traditional Jamaican chicken soup. I tasted more salt than anything. It was a clean and fresh soup. It was prettier/healthier looking and less oily than many traditional soups sold at other Jamaican restaurants.Customer service was good and the restaurant was aesthetically pleasing and neat. The decor was modern. Music was at a moderate level. Very clean with lots of pride.I found parking as soon as I entered the lot. The parking lot is a little tight. It’s easier to just park on the street and walk into the plaza. No posted prices. I would prefer to know how much I’m going to spend. I ended up spending $23.97 on lunch.

2023-04-30 00:36:36I recently visited The Original Coleys, and as a Jamaican familiar with the quality and standard of Jamaican cuisine, I was blown away by the warm hospitality and attentive service. The staff was incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. I also appreciated the lively Jamaican music playing in the background and the clean environment they maintained.I ordered the beef patty, the oxtail entree with a side of jerk chicken and soursop juice. While the oxtail was a bit salty, the rice and peas and jerk chicken were flavorful and well-seasoned, showcasing the kitchens knowledge of Jamaican cuisine. However, I must say that the overall taste did not match the price they were charging. My total came to $53.65, which I found to be a bit pricey. One thing that bothered me during my visit was when my aunt was about to pay on the Clover machine, they made it sound like tips were mandatory. The owner said, We dont work for free, even though Im not certain what he meant by that. This made me feel uncomfortable, and as a Jamaican, I would have appreciated a more tactful approach to asking for tips.Overall, I was impressed with the genuine hospitality which is extremely rare in a Jamaican restaurant. Being Jamaican myself, I have high standards for Jamaican cuisine, and The Original Coleys understanding of the cuisine was evident in their food. I gave them a tip of $10, as their hospitality was exceptional. Despite the high prices and the awkward tip situation, I would still recommend them to anyone looking for delicious Jamaican food, great service, and a fun atmosphere.

2023-10-26 02:53:08Food was fantastic. The oxtail was very tender falling off the bone. Rice and gravy was good. Beef and cheese patty was good the crust was buttery and flaky. Peach cobbler was good. As for the drinks the sour sap was delicious along with the Jamaican grape soda. I cant wait to come back and try more food and desserts. Great customer service.

2023-11-06 04:32:52As always I am very skeptical of eating at “Jamaican” restaurants in California due to fact that most of them do not cook like back home or even close that. The oxtail meat was tough and just never taste right. Also they only have one size of plate and that plate ran me $30.Another let down !
