This is an iconic place in Los Angeles since 1934. They offer lots of food options from around the world. There are tons of stores and a lovely and clean ambiance. Absolutely recommend coming here and try as much as you can.

Pros:- An outdoor market that has been an iconic LA destination since 1934, offering a variety of goods. (Many are family-owned businesses and it is loved by both tourists and locals.)- You can taste dishes from various countries such as the US, Brazil, Cajun, China, France, Greece, Italy, Mexico, the Middle East and more.- They frequently hold special events and live music on Thursdays. Public restrooms are available.Cons:- Parking can be validated for up to an hour and a half. (Operating hours are from 9 am to 9 pm on weekdays and from 10 am to 7 pm on weekends)- Not all farms are local and some farmers source produce from farms that are far away to attract more consumers with their unique selection.

Amazing place with lots of food options from around the world - Mexican, Brazilian, French, Spanish, Italian, Singaporean, Vietnamese, and Middle eastern were some of the outlets I noticed. Went during lunch hour on a Saturday, and the place was very crowded. But it definitely added to the vibe of the place though. Next time will go on a quieter day so I could taste variety of dishes. Highly recommend to anyone visiting LA!

Magees inside the market is an amazing place to get a fresh corned beef or pastrami sandwich. I got a Reuben with both meats. It is hot fresh tender and juicy. I wish it was bigger because I wanted more!

A must visit in the city of angels - I was lost in wonder for a couple of hours. Located at fairfax and third, this market is mostly outdoors and boasts some of the finest cuisines from across the globe. There are also the freshest fruit and some cool souvenirs and merchandise for sale too.Wednesdays seniors get a 10% discount.

Of all the years that I lived in Los Angeles I have never been to the original farmers market so yesterday I decided to give it a try. I was so impressed on how large and the amount of options of stores. places to eat, places to drink. WOW.We did not even make a Dent on the places. we had coffee at 1 place, crepes at another..we sat at the bar and had numerous drinks. we also had oysters .yumm The best part is that theres a lot of area to sit and have your meals or just people watch. You also are able to walk around in the whole facility with your alcoholic beverage in hand. I mean its really a wonderful place . all day parking is $32 .. yes you read that right....the first 2 hours are free Thereafter it is $3.50 every 15 minutes so basically we stood there from 9 to about 530 and it was $32 for parking. But who cares when youre having a good time..

The farmers market has a long history dating back to the 1800s. It started as a dairy farm, then pop has discovered on the land. Then it was a stadium and baseball field all before it was a farmers market from 1934. There are a variety of vendors and cuisine available, all family run businesses.There are also high street stores such as Zara, Williams Sonoma etc.Parking available onsite for $2.50 per 15mins however validated tickets have 90mins free parking.

Great place to visit for a variety of food options, and to just relax, enjoy the laid back atmosphere, and then visit The Grove next door for an afternoon of retail therapy,The Original Farmers Market dates back to the summer of 1934, at what was then called The Gilmore Ranch. A handful of farmers and vendors parked their trucks on the corner of Fairfax and 3rd Street (the same location today) and began selling their produce, and other items from the back of their trucks.

Very busy on a Sunday. Lots of new developments outside the old Farmers Market. I havent been there in 10 years.Food prices astronomical. $7 for ice cream cone, $15.00 for Chinese food. I checked out my old Chinese place. The food was so awful I left it on the table. The ice cream was good though.

The original farmers market is an LA staple. Tucked in the Fairfax area right next to the CBS studios. If you crave food, this is your place! Whether its breakfast, lunch, or an early dinner ( They do tend to shut down around 8 or so ), this place has whatever you crave. Coffee and donuts. Tacos. Cajun/ Creole food. All that and more. Plus, you can purchase meats, pastas, and sauces to take home with you. Just in case you didnt want to eat at the market itself. Its a tourist destination that has no fail. If you desire food, then definitely make this a stop worth going to. I would say to try it all, but you may not walk away in one piece.

I’ve been visiting here for 62 years, since I was a tyke. Had my first ice cream soda at Bennett’s in 1961. I have such heartfelt memories of shopping here with my aunt . This visit we had lunch at Phil’s deli and coffee and beignets at Bob’s. Farmers Market will always be 5-star to me.

It was nice to see. Lots of shopping is available: food, souvenirs, gifts, candy, clothes, etc.The area seemed safe. I saw a Security Guard walking around.There were all types of people there. There were tour buses, we even saw a Rolls-Royce there.There were numerous name-brand stores.Everything was clean and well-kept, the stores, parking lots, and walking areas. Everyone seemed comfortable, as the area was quite peaceful.Overall, this is a great place to visit.

The Original Farmers Market is a great place to stop by for a little food, a little shopping, and a whole lot of things to see. The market is connected to The Grove outdoor shopping mall, and is a fun stop to get something eat. Such a fun spot to just browse, especially around lunch time. There are so many fun food options, as well as such a great variety of stores you simply don’t easily find anywhere else.A pickle store? Been wandering around LA for the past week and this is probably one of my favourite place that Ive been. Its gotta variety of foods and unique specialty stores and friendly vendors. Its clean safe for kids to wander and walk around. Parking is free for the first 90 min. You can easily spend hours here. Theres no cars so very pedestrian friendly.Its locate next to The Grove outdoor shopping centre, so only steps away from some luxury shopping. Highly recommend spending some time here.

What an absolutely charming market! You can feel the passion for food here, and many of the shops have been around for decades serving their signature dishes. The atmosphere is lovely with trees providing shade for the main seating area, and the market is very clean and well taken care of. Nothing to not like about the Farmers Market. Great stalls, lots of food of different varieties, great people watching, and a few places to get some quality beers or wine. Its packed on the weekends, but pretty relaxed during the week. Ive been coming here for 25 years. We had our parking ticket validated and were told it was good for 3 hours. We were charged for parking anyway, with an explanation that we only had 90 minutes of free parking. Made a a day exploring historical Restaurants serving through generations.Live music and food was perfect combo we indulged for 4-5 hrs.Parking is available but little costly. I was expecting more of a farmers market style. Like outdoor stands selling artisan crafts and such. Instead all shops are an actual building. Nevertheless, they have a good variety of shops to pass the time. You can do some shopping and grab a bite. You can get a good size 99 cent ice cream cone at Du Pars restaurant. There are restrooms. Take your ticket to get it validated. Right next to the farmers market is The Grove.

Sadly I was underwhelmed with this place. I love farmers markets, they’re often the highlight of my travels but this was a huge let down. It’s a tourist trap with high priced take out food. Some of those foods are interesting, but there was only 1 produce store in the whole place. Not a farmers market! Interesting for nostalgia reasons only.

We come here often its always great. A few weeks ago we fell down some rabbit hole that led to a video of what the original farmers market look like. Would you let us to Maggies which is the first restaurant that was there and its still there so thats what we try this time. It was very good. not sure if it wasnt a busy weekend since it was the weekend before a holiday weekend but we found parking very easily next to the Farmers market and we were in and out quickly despite eating a whole meal. We got it very quickly and validated and ended up paying nothing thats how less crowded it was. Always a great time at the Farmers market (PS visitors outside of California not a real Farmers market there is a produce stand but it has grocery store prices and I wouldnt call this place of farmers market anymore in the strict sense of the word lots of shops and tasty restaurants not so much produce

Went to the farmers market on Wednesday sadly we’ve had lunch before so we only got ice cream there which was good. It’s more food court by the locals vs get good local bargains (very few stores left). If you wanna do shopping you’ll be able to do that on the grove. I do want to go back and try the Brazilian place- their food smelled amazing.*** take in mind, that if you’re nose I sensitive to smells, there are a lot of those in the market, so you might want to avoid it.

This post is now during the a year long Covid-19 pandemic in March 2021, but my comment reflects on the past time when I visited LA a few years ago. This Farmers Market is one of my most favourite places to go in LA. It is a huge market with so many kinds of food throughout the market, each food stand has their own uniqueness to offer, food is always fresh and very good. The whole market is always vibrant, busy and so much to offer. There are many locals and visitors from all around the world and the place is filled a great energy and people and always fun to go there. My favourite moment is to grab my favourite dishes every morning for breakfast or in the afternoon for lunch sit down at the outdoor seating area and enjoy the delicious food while watching many people around me. Although it could get super busy especially during the day, sometimes hard to find the seat, I found morning time is less busy as many locals are going to work so left with some tourists so I usually go there before lunch hours to avoid line ups or having to walk around 10 rounds to find my seat. I also like the fact that the market is adjacent to the shopping area, The Grove, so I could spend hours just in that area. Not sure what extent of negative impact has been brought to this place after all of this long lasting pandemic. I wonder those family owned businesses could survive...But nonetheless, I still have a lot of fond memories going there and hopefully I will be able to go back there sometime soon in the future after everything settles down and we all can go back to the long awaiting happy & peaceful normal time.

It used to be a farmers market, but now its more like the food court of The Grove. It has lots of small cafes, specialty food shops, and specialty gift shops. Its a good place to get gifts or souvenirs. Be careful where you park- the parking validation to visit the Farmers Market area is separate from The Grove, and both are separate from the little area across the street with the Container Store and a few other shops.

This farmer’s market is within the Grove. Many cafes and fresh produce shops are set up here. I love to sample many of the restaurants with international ethnic foods.You can spend a whole day here eating from breakfast to dinner without leaving the farmer’s market. If you want a little more formal dinning environment, there are several nice dine-in restaurants. I like Maggianos Little Italy Italian restaurant. This restaurant has been here forever offering good family style italian food.If you like chain restaurants, my favorites are Cheesecake Factory and the Wood Ranch. They all offer good foods.Parking is easy, you can either park at the Open lot next to the farmer’s market or the parking structure.

It’s way too crowded, way too touristy - at once overwhelming (with the crowds) and underwhelming (with the experience).Mostly food, food shops, and not much else except for the random souvenir stand. I guess it’s ok if you’re just looking for a meal, but tbh I think you can find much better food and a more meaningful experience elsewhere. We did. I been going to the market since before THE GROVE and covered the (fascinating) story about how the first owners wife saved the market by installing electric lights at night for the farmers. It still is so much fun to shop the stalls AND people-watch.Note: Parking was always dicey. Now a validation NEEDED to park 90 minutes hour free the farmers market lot.D at The Gumbo Pot also told us to park in THE GROVE for a free hour w/o shopping validation. I got a validation from D and was still charged $10 until I told the attendant who let me out.The Gumbo Pot, first owned by the great Charles Meyers, where I ate the same fried chicken salad for a decade, now has much more professional AND friendly staff but lower quality food: chicken tends to be overcooked (they happily gave me another piece!!), the muffin-style cornbread more like cake and the candied pecans are all chopped up instead of halved/dipped in pepper.The ridiculously high priced Bennetts Ice Cream (lemon sorbet) was heavenly.Huntingtons Meats has a young lady counterperson -- who rivals the terrific owner in terms of knowledge and being helpful.

Diner’s can then take their food to outside tables, placed conveniently around the stalls, or to tables with more privacy in upstairs rooms. Trays, dishes and washable tableware are left on top of the containers for cleaning crews to retrieve.The Farmers Market Office upstairs has a visitors center included! There’s something for everyone at Farmers Market. The variety of eateries is amazing. Fritzi’s Chicken is great and so is Moishes Mediterranean. Little John’s old English toffee is outstanding! Expect to pay top dollar at every eatery, gift shop or candy kiosk. This place is not cheap. Parking can be tricky as there are two different parking companies. One for FM and one for The Grove. If you park at FM, only vendors in FM can validate your parking ticket. Sur Le Table and Dylan’s Candy Bar are part of FM even though they are outside FM. I usually go to FM in a group and everyone’s food craving are satisfied.

The Brazilian spot on the first photo offers by far the best meat I had in LA. So yummy! I tried lamb and beef. It is 5 meters from the historical gas station. No waiters, a free flow cafe. Hence it is fairly affordable. A plate full of stuff plus lamb plus a doctor pepper was below 20 dollars. A good deal.Many more food there.Including fresh fruit. Peaches smell super. It was an excellent choice to go there as a tourist. nice place to buy some groceries. they sell vegetables, fruits, nuts, meats, seafood (not very large selection, but enough). There is a food court, with different cuisines (mexican, japanese, etc). The parking is kind of expensive, but if you buy things in the stores, you can ask for parking validation, which covers 90 minutes.

The market was very nice and has lot of food vendors but not so much of the fruit or vegetables. We bought the cherry from the only fruit vendor there, they have lot of fruits and veggies ( seem like they have two sections) but the cherries were a big cheat. Big and sweet one on the top of the bag but small, sour and bad cherries at the bottom of the bag. I believe they either are Mexican or Asian. That’s a shame.

My family visited the Farmers Market in LA! Its awesome. There are few restaurants, local shops, and organic foods. Its nice! I would recommend that you try dining in the Singapore Banana Leaf. The food tastes delicious!

This is about my third time at this place. When I am in the area I enjoy coming here. Even on hot days most of it is Shady and there tends to be a breeze going down the hallways. It is a relaxed atmosphere with many choices for food and interesting shopping. They even have a bakery for dogs here! I bet the locals come here for lunch all the time it is comfy.

In the Farmers Market connected to the Groove shopping mall, we ordered the meat and salad bar we wanted at the Brazilian BBQ restaurant among several dishes. The meat tasted good, and the overall market atmosphere was good, so I ate in a good mood. And I ate donuts for dessert with coffee at the old Bobs Dounut. It is a place where I often take my dog and go with my family.

This place never gets old. Ive been coming here for 3 decades. And some of the booths were here even then. Du pars is always reliable. A bowl of gumbo, barbecued ribs, chinese, sushi, burgers, donuts, whatever you want, not to mention the great markets and stores. The people that work here seem to have an ease a flare and an enjoyment in what they do that you dont find in food service any more.Not to mention is Jason too some great restaurants in the Grove and retail as well as the cinema.The only drawback is the parking. The respective parking lots dont cross validate. If you go to the World Market or the Farmers Market you cant get validation for parking at The Grove. And likewise the other way.

While planning i was checking out online all the places in LA to visit. Original farmers market is on the list and for me it was not appealing because its just a market. On last day of our tour i kinda don’t want to miss any place so i went there. Turns out its a great place to have different kind of food where you can sit and enjoy. Also, you’ll find lots of shopping stores like Zara, Michael Kors.

We stopped at the Kaylin + Kaylin pickle booth and had a picked sampling of 5 pickle flavors for $3 - that was unique and fun.We did valet parking for $12 for the hour.We wandered through the market area and saw open tables that were clean, a sticker store and lots of healthy as well as unhealthy snacks like dried fruit choices, candy choices and candy apple choices. Something for everyone to enjoy. Trolly car for brief rides to and from various retailers along the strip. Outdoor resting areas, outdoor eating areas, public restrooms, props for photo opportunities. Down side, its crowded on Thursday afternoons, large parking area. I am from Canada, and when in LA, you must come here! So many options to choose from. There are fresh fruit, nuts, Jerky, prepared food, and so much more. I was fascinated with the shaded areas that are available and how welcoming each vendor was. I think I could spend all day hanging here and be content. I tried a variety of foods, the fried chicken was awesome, even got convinced to try a freshly squeezed juice. You will not be disappointed!

This place is a dream destination for any foodie. The Farmers Market has an amazing history and an even more amazing collection of restaurants and shops. Grab a bite to eat and check out dioramas and displays that walk you through the history of the area, from oil fields to what you see today. Make sure you hit up Nonnas Empanadas for mind blowing empanadas, especially the banana and dulce de leche one. Michelina makes some of the best French baked goods anywhere (including France) and great sandwiches. Theres no end of great options in the Farmers Market and its right next to the Grove for all your shopping needs!

I really enjoyed my visit to Farmers Market on Fairfax and 3rd. The ambience was so special being the holiday season and all. Here, you can find excellent places where to eat delicious food and buy souvenirs. If you have some extra time, you can also visit The Grove right next door, which is also a very exciting place with its beautiful fountain, trolley, cinema theaters, and multiple stores. Both are great places to have a good time and enjoy a meal with friends or family.

Nice market to shop and catch a bite to eat. There is a parking garage with 8 levels which tells you how many spots are available on each floor. There is a World Market, Container Store, bookstore and several other shops. They have sit down restaurants around the area but plenty of order from the counter and find a seat food options too. Its a really cool place. Its right next to the CBS studios.
