Great portions!! Yummy pancakes and giant omelettes. You get 12 pancakes in a pancake order, you get three larger pancakes too with an omelette order. I recommend fresh vegetable omelette! Service is slightly slow so come here with people you enjoy to be with.

A really good go-to pancake house. Diner-type food, with some really great options (sweet and savory). Some high recommendations are the apple pancake (or waffle for smaller portion), Dutch baby, bacon pancakes, potato pancakes, and corned beef hash. Wasnt a huge fan of the spinach crepe (hollandaise wasnt quite up to expectation).

Ive always loved breakfast, but Ive been disappointed by a lot of places. I was starting to think that I would never find a breakfast place that could satisfy me. But then, my partner took me to The Pancake House Original.The moment we walked in, I could tell that this was a different kind of breakfast place. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the smell of fresh food was intoxicating. The restaurant was busy and we had to wait 20 minutes.We ordered the Oven Baked Dutch Baby, which is a giant pancake thats baked in the oven. It was served with whipped butter, and it was so fluffy and delicious. We also ordered the egg Benedict, which was perfectly cooked with a runny yolk. And the Thick Sliced Canadian Bacons and Farm Style Sausage were so crispy and flavorful. But the best part of the meal was the Hot Berry Syrup. It had a delicious, natural sweetness.We were so impressed with food quality and taste that were already planning to go back. Its the perfect place to go for a memorable breakfast with your family, friends, or partner.I used to think that I was a picky eater, but after going to The Pancake House Original, I realized that I just had high standards. This place is the real deal. The food is delicious, and unique.The Pancake House Original is a hidden gem. If youre looking for a breakfast that will make your day, I highly recommend it. Timeless place to go for breakfast, their pancakes are addictive! The corn beef hash is really good compared to other locations, actually has piece of potato in the hash. The atmosphere is cramped, but its got a classic style.

This place has always been the best place for breakfast. Got here bright and early today, 7am. Greeted with a friendly smile. Juan took my order with coffee ready. I ordered the diced ham and eggs. Delicious🥰 It doesn’t get any better than this. Juan is a great asset to this restaurant. They all are. 👍💗😁

Solid classic breakfast choices. Over easy eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly. Runny yolk with crispy edges. Pancakes with butter and syrup… fluffy and light. Potato pancakes with apple sauce and sour cream are always delicious here.Atmosphere is generic breakfast restaurant. Coffee is standard breakfast roast with the single serve “creamer” containers on the table.Cost? WOW. Pancake dishes range from $12.50 to $18.50 for just pancakes with no sides. Breakfast for three adults and one child - around $100 with tip. So, it’s not really a great value, but the quality here is very high and it’s consistent too. So just be prepared to pay for the Pancake House experience.

I thought I took more photos than these but I scarfed down that cup of freshly squeezed orange juice too quickly... so heres a photo of my husbands cup of juice behind the sauces.I ordered the blueberry waffle with a side of bacon strips, and the hubby got the eggs michael. We both finished everything since it was that good! The blueberry waffle syrup was PERFECTION. Not too sweet, and still had that refreshing fruity taste unlike most syrups.The staff was also super friendly and gave off a warm, comfortable vibe. Feels like home dining here and food tastes home made (but better since I cant cook to this level at home lol)!Came here on a Friday morning for brunch so the wait wasnt bad (about 15 minutes). Be prepared for a long wait on the weekends!

Ive never had a breakfast so big and delicious in a long time. We had a 20 minute wait but it was worth it. It was fast, delicious, every dish was well made. The crepe had so much fruit in it and the right amount of Nutella. The western omelet was perfectly made with lots of veggies and súper fluffy. And the apple pancake was so yummy like a apple pie but better. I recommend this so much. And also the waiter was so friendly and was attentive with us.

This is a decent small chain of breakfast restaurants. The portions are large and the food is good, but pricey. This location has recently been remodeled and looks nice. My biggest issue is with the kid’s menu. If you have kids, ignore the kids menu entirely. If you have only one kid, a half portion makes sense I suppose, but you pay more for the half-sized portion and it doesn’t even include a child’s drink. Someone needs to seriously rethink this portion of the menu. Just stick to the regular menu and have the kids share. I enjoyed the 49er flapjacks. They were smooth and tasty. The coffee is your Denny’s diner quality level. The place is a bit loud and usually very crowded, with wait times, but we were seated quickly. Other than the issue with the kid’s menu prices, it was a good dining experience.

The wait staff are very responsive, the food although a little bit expensive is definitely worth it. Most of the dishes average about 1,800 calories, and despite the average plate being about $18, they give you enough food for two meals. If youre looking for a good place for breakfast, you cant beat The original pancake House.

I hadnt been to the OPH in a long time as to moved down south. But it was exactly as I remembered....great food for a great price! And the service was excellent. The server constantly came by to check on us (group of 7) and brought the food out within a short amount of time.

Stopped by this morning and had a wonderful breakfast of eggs, potatoes, sausage and pancakes.So so good but too much food..could not finish it all but oh so tasty. My server JR was very pleasant and quite efficient. The restaurant is clean and they have installed plexiglass dividers at booth locations which looks great and protects your space from dreaded germs and the COVID monster. The coffee was fantastic and yummy. I truly enjoyed the food, which was well prepared and tasty, the service, which was top notch and the environment, which was clean and well maintained. They even had some good background music going on like Otis Redding and Joe Cocker kinda tunes.Thanks to the staff and JR specifically.Highly recommended

Quality food and they were quick to bring out extra things like butter and etc. payment is easy at register. Cash or card your choice. Has gluten free pancake option too. Generous amount of servings. We know lately that price always goes up but when you come here for breakfast, its worth it. Friendly staff, we know every weekends gets so busy. They clean and disinfect the table right away and you better know what you order right away so you dont have to wait for a long time. I had the western omelet and it is good for 2 people. I do love the coffee... I hope my recommendations helps. Have a good day.

Amazing breakfast place in South OC. It’s certainly a classic place to bring the family on the weekend.The favorites are definitely the potato pancakes, the apple pancake and the specialty egg dishes like the corned beef hash.There will be a wait on the weekend but it is definitely worth it!

This place is decent but the service could definitely be better. You have to ask for things several different times before they are brought to you. Coffee is way overpriced especially if the server doesnt refill your cup until youre done with your meal despite asking multiple times. Probably wont be back.

I came early and was given a booth for four and it was downhill from there. Long wait for order and a longer wait for check. He never asked if I needed anything. The price of the food has doubled and quality has diminished. I asked for buckwheat pancakes and needed to look twice to see if that was what they were. Would have complained but the wait staff never returned to the table until I asked for a check. Never returning to this establishment.

The original pancake house is a overall very good restaurant. Great for families and small groups alike. It can be quite busy at times but is typically worth the wait. They use their own blend of coffee reasonably high quality. Their pancakes and omelettes are quite fluffy. But some of their waffles are deflated. As such, this restaurant is quite good, but has its flaws and definitely earns a solid four stars.

If I could have scored a zero instead of a 1 rating, I would have put a zero. I arrived at “The Original Pancake House” at 26951 Moulton Pkwy, Aliso Viejo, CA 92656 on May 29, 2023, with my two sons and my father and was seated at 9:11am. We are an African American family. What followed was very humiliating. We had to request, on several occasions, to be serve with coffee and juice and that eventually came. A white couple who had been seated at the same time as us was immediately served coffee. Two families, an Asian and a white came in approximately 10 and 15 minutes after us respectively and were immediately served coffee, etc. and subsequently the first white couple, as well as the asian and second white couple were served their full meal. Even though a white waitress had taken our order before the asian and the second white couple. The first white couple was also serve their meal. We waited for approximately 20 minutes after the asian and the second white couple were serve but we were not serve our meal. I got up and requested to speak to the manger who was the person who had seated us. I told the manager two other family came after us and were served their food, therefore, this was disrespectful and unacceptable. I showed the manger the families that were served before us and our empty table. As I was showing the manager, the waitress then was rushing out with our food with a bored expression on her face. It appeared that she did not care about serving us. The manager asked us to stay and the meal would be free. However, I advised the manager that a free meal would not allow me and my family to be disrespected and treated in this manner by “The Original Pancake House.” I cannot recommend “The Original Pancake House” to anyone because of the treatment we received.

We have been wanting to stop as a family at Original Pancake house for some time now, but usually the wait was too long for our toddler. Ended up going this last weekend and the food and service was amazing. If going, be sure to go very early or plan for a long wait. Great for families.

Monday morning and the place was relatively full but I was seated right away and the server offered me coffee the moment I sat down. She came back with my water and the menu and I went with eggs michael, which she vouched for being very good and she was right. 2 english muffins, topped with sausage and poached eggs with 4 potato pancakes, apple sauce, sour cream and a mushroom sauce that is the consistency of Hollandaise but has a little Sherry in it and of course mushroom.The meal was big enough for two people so I have lots of leftovers to share. Overall the restaurant is outdated and noisy but the food and service were great!

I actually like this place the food is good and the portions are huge. The severs are fast and friendly. However their crapes are not really crapes but more like a globs of sauce, dough, and spinach. The flavor was there but the presentation and texture were all wrong.Could not eat it so the manager took it off are bill. Parking is very tight and the waits are no shorter then 35 min.

The food looked fantastic, but unfortunately that was where it ended. The French toast tasted like a chewy fried egg on bread, and could only eat a bite or two. The pancakes were very bland. I’ve had better pancakes everytime I have been at black bear diner. 0/10 do not recommend and wish I had just made an eggo waffle, and I want my money back.

This is a review not for the consumer but for The Original Pancake House management. I could not decide on 2 or 3 stars. My husband and I have been going to the restaurant for more than 20 years and for an excellent breakfast just the way you want it, this was our go to place. We havent been there for about a year and a half. Just had not ventured out for breakfast in a long time. Today we took our son and his girlfriend. We ordered our usual (and was really looking forward to it) the Spinach and Swiss cheese omelet delicately prepared, no brown. We ordered bacon and a side of toast. The omelet does come with pancakes but as a treat, I ordered French toast for all of us to share. My son and his girlfriend ordered pancakes. When our food came, the omelet was brown. The waitress was very apologetic saying that she had told the kitchen what we wanted. She took it right back and said theyd make a new one. We sat there unable to eat the pancakes and French toast as they didnt drop off the syrup with the food. When the waitress came back to drop off the toast, I said we need syrup. Finally got that, and then a little while after that the omelet showed up. It didnt have any brown...but it didnt have any swiss cheese either! When the waitress came back we told her just forget it, please take this off of our bill. When the bill came they took the omelet off but not the toast...we never even saw the side of pancakes that was supposed to come with the omelet! They took the toast off too at our request. So the French toast ended up being the main course instead of just something fun to nibble on. I certainly didnt want so many carbs and sugar, we really were disappointed. None of this would have ever happened back in the day. We highly respected the management and staff back then. Maybe it was an off day, I dont know, but we wont be back most likely.

Unfortunately the parking lot was a disaster, since they were repaving & so unfortunate for a Friday, especially mid-day. The portions are HUGE and the food is excellent. There can often be a long wait to get in, but it is worth it. I suggest the apple pancake, it isnt just a regular old pancake with apples on top, it is much better! But, perhaps share the order as a dessert for the whole table.

Massive, quality fair. This place never disappoints. I always make sure to get the in-house made corned beef hash. I havent been able to find a better hash. I have looked. Since I first tried it here 18 yrs ago, I have looked. I brought a friend today, it was his first time. Hes hooked. He said hes coming back. The hours of this place is short. There is always a line, but I have never waited longer than 45 mins. Please believe me, its worth the wait. This place also has a knack for making you feel like youre home. Welcome home, sit, eat. One of the most challenging things is choosing just ONE entree from the menu.ORIGINAL POST: I havent been here in quite awhile because the weekend wait can be gnarly. The food is still as great as I remember it. Basted eggs. Swedish pancakes. Dutch baby. Good coffee. The waitstaff is friendly and professional. The food is prepared quickly but perfectly.But, this restaurant has been totally ruined for me because they remodeled the interior. It used to be this funky orange/brown/gold 1970s time capsule. It was special because it was like eating at a blast from the past. A warm, friendly cocoon.Now its this bland tan/beige/blue cold, noisy, sterile environment. Horrible. What was unique, charming and specific is now a generic public space. I could be in any random fast casual restaurant or doctors office. Its like they purposely tried to make it as bland as possible. I cant myself coming back here again. Its just too boring. Its like showing up at Disneyland and both Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion are closed. Meh.

What a huge disappointment to find this “once” great Original Pancake House a dismal failure. I went there with 4 others & ordered each person’s long standing favorite menu items. Each & every entree was unrecognizable, and also very bad. Also noticed there so few other customers which was unusual for this place that was always a mob scene. I don’t know if the whole chain has been bought out & totally changed? I know I won’t risk another horrible meal at any other restaurant with this name! Don’t go to this one or you will regret it.

My wife and I love this Original Pancake House. I like the Dutch Pancake, it is as big as the entire plate. Tastes great. I always enjoy it. My wife orders the Straw Berry pancakes. That is one of her favorite things to order. When our son was younger we used to come here every other week on Sunday for breakfast. He loved this place and begged us to come more often. I would highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast.

Really disappointed with the service. The hostess boy was extremely rude and we were taken back by his behavior. The service was very slow and the waitress seemed like she didnt want to be there. Then when we paid we couldn’t get a receipt. I had to ask for a receipt and advise the cashier its should be standard policy to give a receipt. Its so disappointing the quality of service has gone down. Its like you are no longer welcome in a restaurant but yet you took time out of your day to go out to eat and give others business that no longer seem appreciated.This place used to be my favorite breakfast place but I will give my hard earns money to another establishment.Please retrain your staff. A smile smile can change the mood of everyone. Everyone working there just seems so annoyed and unhappy and it really changes your experience.

We have been going to The Original Pancake House with a large family group, like today for instance with 23 people. Even with a large group like that their service was excellent as well as the food. The place does get busy on weekends and we had to wait about 35 and its or so, which was not bad for our large group. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Now lets talk about the food, which is definitely Center Stage here. Of course the pancakes are superb. All different kinds like buckwheat, pecan, chocolate chip, sourdough, Etc. Along with the standard Flap-Jacks they have something called a Dutch baby which looks like a huge Bowl coming to your table. Another one of their famous entrees is the Apple pancake which is a delicious eggy dish topped with sliced apples and a cinnamon sauce. If you have a group, get one to split up because it is very sweet and almost too much for one person. Their omelets are superb as well as crepes and diced ham and eggs. While the place looks like a popular eatery, the quality of everything is subpar at best. The portions are enormous but that does not make up for the poor food quality. Crepes we ordered were raw inside but the explanation we got was This is the style. Not really! Crepes need to be thin enough to cook all the way. If you make them just a bit thinner than pancakes, there is always a chance they would turn out to be just that: thinner pancakes but still not crepes. Speaking of pancakes, those too were well below average and could have been made from a supermarket mix. My omelet was big enough for 3-4 people but had very little in common with an omelet.Barely seasoned, it needed a load of salt, pepper, hot sauce to make it somewhat potable. Dont want to claim this as fact but I tasted quite a bit of thickener (most likely flour) added to the eggs to increase the volume. So dont expect to be off carbs even when you order eggs. And finally, the place had literally nothing to offer that was in its original, uncooked form (fruit, vegetable etc). Overall I would not go to that place even if someone paid for meal. Very disappointing.

This place is a classic. It is a staple in the community. I usually dont go here because the wait is always so long on the weekends which is when i would normally go to breakfast. They squeeze tons of people into a small place. You are literally sitting right next to the neighboring table, so there really isnt any privacy. The food is great. I just paid $15.50 for an apple pancake that was basically just EGG. I tried calling back to see if they could fix it and after 7 tries, no one answered the phone. This OPH did not provide anything normal. Always very long lines, do not be fooled. We spent around $60, and not one order excel above fair. They are supposedly big honchos when it comes to batter, being named Original Pancake House, but our waffles and pancakes, were a total miss. The waffle was as flat as a pancake, and that is a waffle disgrace. Waffles are supposed to be thick and fluffy. This one was flat, undercooked and chewy. The apple syrup tasted like a concoction made in a chemical lab. The apple topping in the waffle and pancakes was acceptable. Undercooked both, this is not a thing you can ignore.The western omelet at almost $12 is a disgrace. The toppings diced so small, and scattered about to convey the appearance of a fair amount, the eggs lacking the light consistency of a good omelet.Server very pretty and efficient, and that always help and was happily compensated at the end of the meal.Yes, I know, they have long lines, make a lot of money, but the same as even pricier places to eat where the food do not deserve to be praised, The Original Pancake House does not deliver the high praises everyone and their uncle seem to place in this mediocre eatery. Expensive, and any additional thing cost money. Dennys got more class than this place and that is saying a lot. 2 Stars.
