The moment we walked into this space, we were so happy with the welcoming staff and all the amenities included. The staff knew it was my birthday and had a nice bottle of wime with two wine glasses and a corker waiting for me. I honestly felt like this place was spot on from the free happy hour drinks and appetizers, snack and hot drink fillups on the main floor, to the ability to grab extra towels and hygiene products if you choose not to have daily room cleaning. The rooms were excellent. We had a nice view of the quiet street below and beautiful surrounding galleries and bed and breakfasts. This was a perfect birthday get away.
The entire property is gorgeous and well appointed. Wonderful, large patio out back with fire pits and nice furniture. The front desk gentleman was FABULOUS! Very friendly, very accommodating. He also made us the cocktails that are offered to each guest in the evening. It was wonderful to have a small table & chairs in our room to eat at in the a.m. Add in the real China cups & saucers in rooms & the lobby area & theirs is an atmosphere like no other. A gas fireplace in our room was very nice. Very clean. All of this in a quaint little town full of shops that are all within walking distance.
The Rigdon House is beautiful, off the beaten path so its quiet and quaint. The rooms are huge and comfortable. The staff is great and accommodating. The complimentary appetizers and drinks during happy hour made the start to our nights just wonderful. I couldnt help but smile as I walked through the place. All of the details and little notes and decor was just charming. Will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend this place.
I want to expand upon my previous review. We recommended the Rigdon to our inlaws and to a friend, both happened to stay last week. Both gave us rave reviews of the hotel, which made us happy because we dont want to send friends to a bad place. Both also said that the Rigdon is their new go-to hotel in their annual trips to Cambria. I was looking high and low to find someway to improve this amazing, awesome, beautiful place. I can list many positive aspects of the wonderful place and amazing staff. The worlds best Hostest Alexa was always ready with a happy attitude and wonderful tips. She always had wonderful dishes that she was serving at Happy Hour.Alexa thank you. You made my wifes birthday trip so fun and special.I would make a suggestion to put up a curtain on the bathroom door or one between the bedroom and the living room.Do not take me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the current set up but a divider of some sort would make it perfect.We have a new favorite place to go and look forward to our next visit.Thank you for the amazing stay.

We just love staying at inns and hotels that are independent and capture the personality of their owners. Rigdon House is a charming hotel that is in the center of Cambria, CA and steps from dining and strolling. It has 14 suites which are well appointed and professionally decorated. Our room had a fireplace with a sitting suite and balcony. The main floor lobby is a mix of a relaxing social room and conversation area to kick back and relax with a signature cocktail. 2 complimentary homemade cocktails were served between 5pm and 7pm along with a homemade hors d’oeuvre. An outdoor backyard fire pit adds to the romance.I can’t say enough nice things about our host Natasha who shared her signature drink and puff pastry recipes. I hope you have the pleasure of meeting her.After a long day on the road and getting in and out of the car to capture every vista and view, you will definitely be rewarded with a memorable stay at the Rigdon House.

We just got home after a fabulous first stay at The Rigdon House. We picked this location based on great reviews and the fact that they were dog friendly. When I called to inquire about reservations and bringing my senior dog, Christian was very helpful in recommending an appropriate 1st floor suite. He also called a few days before our arrival to confirm our plans. When we arrived, Alexa was extremely helpful greeting me at the front desk and showing me the facility, including taking me to the room. When my husband and dog came in the room they were both very pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious, very clean and recently renovated. Our dog was delighted to find a goody bowl especially for him. We enjoyed chatting with the other guests by the fire pit both nights of our stay and Alexa was a great bartender for the complimentary happy hour. The hotel is in a great location near many delicious restaurants a short walk away...with lots of fun shops to stop in while meandering through town. We look forward to staying at the Rigdon House again!
MacReeves and I found our stay here to be comfortable and cozy. The tastefully furnished surroundings in a historic home just off the main commercial drag were just the thing we sought on a romantic weekend. Bed was big and comfy, the room was spacious and had a sitting area, desk and lovely balcony overlooking the back patio with its fire pit. The only disappointment was that we missed the cocktail hour due to a late arrival. Next time we will be there with bells on.
The rooms were very large and the location was perfect in the middle of town. The complimentary happy hour is a great touch and not to be missed. Very comfortable stay that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Cambria

I would recommand this hotel to anyone staying in Cambria! It is really beautiful and clean. The room was just amazing and especially for that price it was the best room I got on the whole west coast! A lot of great restaurants are in walking distance.
Very cool hotel, what with all the history and the unique rooms. Staff is very friendly and the rooms are spacious. The only downside we have found is the historic nature of the structure means noise insulation is minimal. If there are heavy-footed guests, youll hear them coming up the stairs.
I cant recommend this place enough. The staff are wonderful on the phone and in person. The buildings have a historic beauty but all the rooms are fully renovated and are extremely spacious. My sister had a scooter for her broken foot and and it was a relief that the rooms were so large because she was easily able to get around. The rooms have a sofa, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, table, chairs, et... The back patio has a beautiful view, is decorated with plants and lights, and has awesome seating with a fire pit. The stay includes two free drinks in the evening and they are not stingy with the alcohol. LOL All the shops and restaurants in the East Village are within easy walking distance. The best recommendation I can give you is that we cant wait to go back.
This was our third visit to Rigdon House, which has become our home away from home as we drive from San Francisco to LA. The rooms are charming, thoughtfully decorated and very comfortable. We are always welcomed like old friends. The daily happy hour by the fireplace is a source of relaxation and interesting conversation. And I loved that, when I requested a vegetarian hors oeuvre on our second visit, Christian not only made some for me then, but had them ready when we returned two months later.It is an older building, with a homey, beachy feel that includes creaks and pops, the occasional sounds of other people. You won’t feel isolated at Rigdon House. For me, that’s a plus.
First, I want to say that the staff was great and some of the pitfalls of my 2-night stay were in no way their fault. The amenities, location, and outdoor spaces at the hotel were all amazing.Unfortunately, my room was not. I was accommodated last minute by the staff into a first floor room - they were booked solid my first night. Sadly, I booked through a 3rd party and the note about my knee injury did not go through. So, Im guessing that is maybe why I was put into one of the un-renovated rooms. Again, thank you to the staff for doing their best to help me out.I think the room was as clean as it could be, but the carpet needed to be replaced, the wallpaper was peeling, holes were poorly patched where curtain rods once were, and many of the fixtures needed to be updated. The bed was very clean and comfortable. And the room was large. A shame the cable also went out the first night and was not fixed by the time I left.From all the pictures I see of the renovated rooms I definitely would consider staying here again - otherwise, I probably wont recommend it to friends and family overall. Its too bad!
Loved our stay at the Ridgon House. The room was spacious with a separate sitting room with a fireplace overlooking the back patio. The kitchen space with microwave, fridge, and toaster was very handy. I especially appreciated the little touches like allowing guests to use the downstairs kitchen for coffee, tea, popcorn, dishes, cold/hot water, and extra room supplies. The happy hour was delightful and we greatly appreciated the outdoor firepit on cool evenings. The proximity to downtown was great, we could walk to breakfast (Linns) and dinner (Mexican food) easily. The internet connectivity was much better than staying on the coast or West Village. A perfect getaway for my hubby and me.
Rooms were cute, old-fashioned and very clean. Bathroom sinks are antique and a lot of furniture was also. Mattresses and pillows were incredibly comfortable.
Very Beautiful place! Room was very spacious and the bathroom was large as well. Very cozy and sooo quiet, even the ceiling fan made absolutely no noise. The staff was friendly, it felt as though you were visiting their home. They had free wine and food in the evening, and the breakfast was small but sweet and inviting in the morning. I would 100% recommend! They said my room wasnt even finished in their remodeling? So Im excited to see how they could possible make it better than it already was. Wonderful experience.

Delightful experience in this restored hotel built back in the 1880s. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The rooms were large and the bed super comfortable. Their continental breakfast had a number of choices and even was adequate for us vegetarians. The only complaint was that the sink and tub were showing their age but I was assured that they were the next things to be upgraded.

We loved our stay at the Rigdon House. The room which felt more like a studio apartment was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. I could live there forever. There was a fridge, coffee maker, and toaster for our convenience. Our room was upstairs and had its own little outdoor patio. The rest of the hotel was just as beautifully decorated and had a welcoming, homey vibe.They offer continental breakfast which was great for us because we could nibble on something and go. They offered toast, bagels, scones, and other baked goods. Cereal, instant oatmeal, hot coffee, and tea, fruits, and even hard boiled eggs, which I loved!Kaitlyn, the general manager, was very sweet and helpful. She showed us to our room even though we arrived after the late check-in time. She also gave great recommendations of local eateries during the happy wine hour that happens every day from 5 - 7 PM. The wine was great and we bought a bottle. We loved Cambria and our stay at Rigdon so much, we definitely plan on coming back!

The woman at the front desk was incredibly friendly and accommodating allowing us in to our room for an early check in. The front lobby and guest sitting rooms were clean and quaint. I loved our king room! It was so clean and inviting, and smelled amazing. The location of the Rigdon House was perfect, as it was easy access to many restaurants and shops within walking distance. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again.
We had a great time at this smaller sized hotel. The staff was excellent! All of the girls we met were sweet, knowledgable, and accommodating. The room we had was the King size suite. Very large with Asian decor. Could be updated but nothing to complain about and the rooms were very clean. Located just East of Main Street. Walked around town and had a lovely dinner. Prices were inexpensive for the location and size of room.

They have a fun happy hour with great wine and appetizers. Very friendly staff. And was able to walk into town for everything. Park, unpack and have fun :) Will go there again soon.

We had a lovely apartment. Separate living room and bedroom. It was very spacious with plenty of room. Large closet for longer stays.any nice amenities. Delicious breakfast (with homemade scones). Conveniently located, only a three minute walk to main Street with restaurants, bakeries and shopping galore. A delightful place to stay Impeccably clean. Charming wait staff.

Would rather stay in the Rigdon house over many big name hotels. Plus and outside patio with a fire pit and balcony with our room! No complaints!
Absolutely love this place! I have been twice so far and plan on going back soon. With my husband we headed over to Cambria for the holiday weekend in November. We enjoyed our stay so much. It is walking distance for shopping, food, and the bar. We enjoyed the luxury king suite. The breakfast in the morning is wonderful and has plenty of seating and tasteful local pastries. In the evening the social hour with wine, spirits, and appetizers was so nice. We met and conversed with other couples from around the world. It is close by Hearst Castle and really recommend checking the tours out!
Very friendly staff. Wonderful suite. Comfortable bed, I slept the whole night through the second night. Two blocks from the main drag, so close enough to be convenient and far enough to be quiet. Fire pit in the patio fabulous for enjoying the evening. I would have more plants in the patio. We met some interesting people at the wine social hour. All and all enjoyed our time here and we would happily come back! Brian G.
Great location and fabulous amenities! Stayed in the beautifully apppointed family suite and had an extraordinary amount of space. Enjoyed the complimentary wine and bites, and the lovely fire pit. Had to borrow a cell phone charger and was told to just return it in the morning. Kids also enjoyed a game of Battleship in the lobby. Made the stay welcoming and memorable. Would definitely recommend!
Absolutely amazing! Rooms are beautiful. Service is incredible. The manager is the sweetest thing ever. I will be coming back! Free wine, free breakfast, and an available DVD, video, book collection that has to be 500+. LOVE LOVE LOVE everything.

It is a beautiful historic building. They did a good job keeping its charm. The room we had was very large and had a separate living room. We had a pleasant stay, except the walls are thin. You can hear everything that is going on outside or your neighbors. Other than that, I would recommend this place for others coming to the area. It is a very charming area.
I have been to every state in this beautiful country and have had many occasions to stay in all sorts of B & B’s and inns. This one was one of the best....the perfect place for our group of 65 yr old ladies to gather for 4 days and 3 nights and enjoy each other’s company and tour the area. It is 150 yrs old but has maintained its quaintness and antiquity through the remodeling they’ve been doing. The pictures online are nice, but even they dont do the place due justice. I loved my 2 room suite (#19 upstairs) with a gorgeous bath with skylight. It had an electric fireplace in the bedroom and another in the living area, a mini fridge and microwave with coffee maker. They laid beautiful single long stem roses on the mantles and tables. It’s view was via beautiful French windows that look out over the bricked patio with comfy seating and fire pit and the forest beyond. They were sold out and we really enjoyed meeting couples and families from other states and countries. The patio, morning room and evening sitting area are the perfect atmospheres for gathering. The Aussie couples were particularly fun and friendly. The ladies who run this place go out of their way to please their guests during your visit. They are also happy to make excellent recommendations for restaurants and activities. Since we were there for a long weekend, we all felt the cereals, French Bakery items, warm scones, fruit, boiled eggs, jams and coffee and tea selection were the perfect light offerings. They also offered wine and snacks and fresh pizza in the afternoon before we left for dinner. My own room was spectacularly clean with a very comfortable bed, but since it is up some steep stairs without an elevator, I wouldn’t recommend it for an elderly person who has any trouble getting around. There are plenty of rooms on the ground floor. There is also plenty of free safe parking around the property. The best part is that it is very private, but downtown within walking distance of restaurants, cafes and local shops. It is just a quick drive to all of the attractions you may want to visit in the Cambria area. October happens to be the Scarecrow festival; in many locations all over town, theyve made the most incredible themed painted and dressed figures (some even with moving parts). And the weather in October is spectacular. The elephant seals have also begun taking their hard-fought-for places on San Simeon beach.
I was looking forward to staying at this cute hotel but was disappointed when I got the last room available and it was not renovated. The internet pictures looked so nice and updated, but unfortunately the room I got looked old and not updated. It was not as nice as the internet pictures. The other thing was there was no AC, only a ceiling fan. We had to open the windows to let cool air in. It was a quiet little town where we stayed, but wish the room was a little nicer. Wished they had some bake goods in the morning for breakfast, but all they had was coffee. It would have been so cute since they had pretty tea cups for tea and hot chocolate.

Don’t think we’ve written a review after the last two times we’ve stayed, but we’ve made it a tradition to stay for my birthday (late Feb), and we will be booking in the next few days for another trip. After staying on Moonstone drive a handful of times, we wanted to stay somewhere in town, and staying at the Rigdon House offers a new style of enjoying Cambria that we have come to prefer. We have always received great rooms, excellent service, and always make it a point to spend some time with the staff/fellow guests at the evening social hour. Can’t wait to be there in a few short weeks!
Beautiful historic building, very close to the beach and a gorgeous 15 minute drive up the coast to the Hearst Castle. The patio in back is has a fire pit and its lovely. Love the room we got, really amazing. Fresh baked scones for breakfast and a good selection of tea in cute tea cups. The lady who checked us in was really sweet. Located right on a very cute main street with great restaurants and lots of interesting shops. Highly recommend it!!

Really cute little hotel. They were late letting us into our room (we got there 15 minutes before check in to a sign that said be back in 10 minutes! and werent let in until 15 minutes after check in) which was only annoying because we had a wedding rehearsal to get to in Ragged Point. The rooms were very nice and very clean, the beds were comfy, and the continental breakfast was nice. I definitely recommend this hotel!
It was the coziest, cleanest hotel we have been in in a while. Built in the 1890s this home was a must see in the town of Cambria. We would definitely return. The renovations are divine and the lobby is adorable with a breakfast included in your stay. Clean smelling sheets just superb.

We walked in and were greeted by the nicest lady. she checked us in and showed us around the property. She told us about things to do around the town and gave us a map. They have a nice little happy hour with drinks and appetizer for adults. Our room was spacious and very comfortable beds. The room had a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and toaster. Great place to stay with the family.
Wonderful staff, rooms are large, wine reception delightful, and breakfast was nice as well. Minor hope that they will update the bathrooms. Larger tub or shower would be nice. It is your basic drop in prefab tub/shower.
Great rooms and fair rates considering the rooms are the absolute best and cleanest in Cambria. Friendly staff and very spacious accommodations. The ONLY place in town my parents will stay when they come to visit. No ocean views, but nice enclosed patio with a gas firepit and covered area to enjoy. Right next to the creek, so evenings one can here the crickets, frogs and creek in the background. Lovely and almost all of the rooms have been recently renovated.
My wife and I spent the night here a couple weeks ago as we travelled along the coast. Alexa greeted us with a glass of wine and flatbread pizza. The hotel, room and grounds were spotless. It is difficult to choose which was cozier: the room or the fire-pit in the backyard. Can’t beat the chocolate scones for breakfast! Our only regret is that we only spent one night. We’ll be back!
Very nice accommodations. Friendly staff with great decor. They have added a pleasing, modern twist to an historical building. Its also within walking distance of many of the local shops and eateries.

Its best to visit during the off season. They offer better rates. They are nice and friendly. The rooms are clean and are maintained daily. The rooms are a little dated but its still worth the stay. Definitely going to return!Be sure to visit the mineral and art gallery next door. They have some beautiful stuff. Restaurants hours vary, so be sure to check schedules and times in advance. everything is within walking distance.
Its a cool place, but I there is one con I need to mention: they dont put out breakfast until after 9am. If you know this in advance you can plan for it, but we had assumed it would be like any other hotel and start the continental breakfast early in the morning. We had a reservation at Hearst Castle that morning, so were out waiting for breakfast and only had time to grab a scone and go. The scone was really good btw, I just wish breakfast had started earlier so we could have enjoyed more of it.
This weekend rental was cozy, efficient, and simple; it offered a break away from city life with its rustic cottage style while maintaining a modern feel. I would definitely recommend staying here!The location was spectacularly central and super functional, close to everything: shops (art/gifts), restaurants, the beach and forests displaying the exquisite fauna & flora of the area, it allowed a constant feeling of rejuvenation. I loved Cambria and will be returning!

Nice big rooms, minimalist style remodeled decor very very nice. Location great, quiet for the most part, in the heart of town, nice little street. Nice free parking. Dont pick the nice big room next to the outdoor wood stairs, you will hear up and down stomp stomp your whole stay. That room also is a very strange odd paint color like blue-green vomit. Food......not so good. Not a B and B in the since of food, but they should know everyone else in town is 10 times better. I give one for food and 3 for our room. They really need a culinary person to up the game here at least to match their nicely done decor. I am going to be a critic here as we have been to almost every place to stay in Cambria and would give food one star, and that is just because the coffee was decent. One is greeted in a lovely entry with store bought individual packaged cookies to look at, thats tacky. May I suggest a big clear jar of roasted almonds to match your style, or big homemade cookies. (that would go alone with the remodel class you are going for)Eve bar was just that, a person willing to make you a drink served with dry bread and vinegar samples, I kid you not. The breakfast room is lovely and the touch of real china and cup and saucers is a 10 and very charming, not sure the point though when there really is no food at breakfast to use them!!!! Looking forward to breakfast in the lovely room....but breakfast was cold hard boiled eggs, terrible store bought doughy something or other, cold store bought cereal. Small store bought roll was all my husband and I took and we walked back to our room. Have someone making waffles, or something with a nice assortment of local berry syrup and local honey would be a nice touch. Every other place we have stayed in Cambria were lovely breakfast. Just to compare, right across the street at the Squibb house they serve a beautiful large warm basket of assorted fresh morning made 5 star delights from the local French bakery with fresh real juice, fruit salad with big strawberries, yogurt etc.with other delectables so beautiful, and served to your room if you liked. I do appreciate a real coffee maker in our room, as we were able to make our own coffee with our grounds. There is so much out there in the culinary scene to make this place stand out....but just plan on eating breakfast some where else. And have a pre dinner snack somewhere else too.

This place is absolutely incredible. We chose Cambria randomly for our stop on our trip down the coast from SF back to LA. The hostess here set us up with a beautiful renovated room at a very fair price (around $150 after tax). The hotel was centrally located, and we were even offered a wine and snack reception. I hope to come back.

Beautiful historic home the happy hour was really nice backyard fire pit was lovely great walking distance to everything short jaunt to the beach however the shower in room 22 was so dated and awful the water shoots out in stinging streams like the 70s quite ugly bathroom needs something dont know what maybe some paint to cover all the scratches on the sink area and a piece of the bathroom wall is missing needs painted the whole room needs some love and a deep cleaning in the bathroom the bathroom window was filthy and one part broken the TV was broken the first dvd player brought up by very nice staff was broken we had to get another from downstairs the carpeted stairs leading to upstairs is absolutely filthy seems like the house just needs some love and attention.
Great place! We got a remodeled room that was super nice. They also has a small do it yourself breakfast that is always open with bagels, oatmeal, boiled eggs, juice, coffee and so on.
Pretty ambience and clean....but you can hear EVERYTHING from the other rooms. Not a quiet nights sleep, thats for sure. I wont be back. Id rather stay at the cambria pines lodge.
Had an amazing stay at the Rigdon House in Cambria! Great service and hospitality. Loved that they offered a complimentary appetizers and drinks in the evening. Definitely recommend staying here if you’re looking for a place to stay in Cambria!
We are leaving this inn right now. Ihad a great time, but the place needs update. Carpets are old, bathroom is avocado green, and its a little loud in the morning. But over all it was clean and the front desk girls is super sweet and helpful.
Excellent location, excellent accommodations, Zara was an awesome host. She offered us beverages upon arrival and showed us around the property. The luxury king suite was amazing and perfect for us. Would return in a heartbeat
Nice historic building, seems clean and well cared-for. Breakfast included fresh pastries, boiled eggs, fruit, oatmeal packets - not huge, but we found it adequate. Wine and snacks in the evening. Staff were all pleasant and helpful, including letting us use some oil and vinegar for a salad we were making.
The Rigdon house is a gem in Cambria the staff was warm and friendly and the feel of the room and whole place was way better than I expected. We didn’t get to really experience the breakfast there as we were there during covid but they made us feel like family nonetheless. Highly recommended for a stay in Cambria. The price was reasonable too
Stayed there for a night very nice staff and very nice, spacious and clean rooms ☺️ thank you~ We are still very touched by the hand written personal message to us till this date. When the international border opens again, we will be looking forward to another opportunity to be back & stay with them again!
The Rigdon house (formerly Burton Inn) is a very stylish small hotel. Our room was marvelous - it was actually an apartment with separate living room and bedroom, spacious and comfortable. We had a garden view and it was very quiet. Joanna has been incredibly friendly and helpful during check-in. The hotel is very close to the main street, cafes, restaurants and arty shops. The hotel is a short drive from the ocean front and a very close proximity to the CA1 road.
This place should really be a 5 star! It is a classy and beautiful place to stay! The rooms are gorgeous and the staff super friendly! Complimentary wine and appetizers in the evening! Great ambience and super spacious rooms!
Beautiful and serene location. The staff was lovely and helpful. The suite was clean and very comfortable. I would highly recommend this place to friends or family and definitely would stay here again.

The place is in a small town and quite quiet in the evenings. The hotel is just off the main street but only a few steps from main street. The place ha a nice terrace out back with patio furniture where you can have breakfast in the morning or sit but the propane fire pit in the evening
The Rigdon House exceeded my expectations! I booked there because they were close to town & had a competitive rate. I was pleasantly surprised to find my room was a spacious suite! The bedroom was clean & quiet, the separate living room w an electric fireplace & a 2nd TV was comfy, and the big windows open wide to let the fresh ocean breezes in.The RH offers free wine from 5 to 9 PM & a nice patio w a gas fire pit to enjoy it on.1 down side: BEWARE THE 5 DAY CANCELLATION POLICY! All of us make plans that are subject to change. But 5 days before my arrival, RH drafted the total amount of my stay and refused to refund it when I wanted to change to a later stay (due to an unusually cool, rainy May). This is the only issue that kept me from giving the Rigdon House a 5 star rating. In my opinion, RH should change their cancellation policy to the 24 hour standard.In summary, I would stay at the Rigdon House again. BUT...due to their 5 day cancellation policy, I will also consider the Bluebird Motel & the other many fantastic places in Cambria, Ca!
Really nice rooms, and very nice people. Wine and cheese at 5pm is a mice touch, and a good chance to meet others. Breakfast in the morning is included. This place is a keeper.
My fiancé and I had scheduled a trip to Rigdon for our wedding night and honeymoon two months prior to our planned stay. We attempted three separate times to call the hotel directly to book, and without any return calls, opted to use Hotels.com instead. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, supposedly the hotel is still open. In order to confirm that our booking wasn’t cancelled, I tried to call and left messages several times over the course of two weeks. Still no return phone call. So then we tried the email listed on their website, no return message. It wasn’t until I left one final message threatening to cancel my booking that they ever decided to return my call. By that point, they had wasted our time and lost business. We will not be booking with them again.
Not a friendly place! The breakfast was terrible. Staff was all young college kids with bad attitudes. Bedroom and bathroom were disgusting. I woke up with a rash that I’m concerned about. Palm branch from tree almost hit my kid!
Very dated and somewhat worn. Not a bad hotel, but no way is it a 4 star hotel as described by Travelocity. I cant remember the last time I had an actual key for a hotel room key, but thats just a reflection of how dated this hotel actually is. They also arent very good at record keeping since they attempted to bill my credit card for a stay paid through travelocity. Plusses are a good breakfast, free wireless, and free parking.
We were upgraded to a deluxe king room which was enormous, beautifully decorated and very quiet. The bed was huge and comfortable to sleep on.
Fantastic customer service from the get go. Lovely rooms, wine and cheese at 5pm and an outstanding breakfast selection to boot. All round a top spot that Ill use again when anywhere near.
The hotel is super nice, but every restaurant in this little town are very, very expensive. Better have dinner somewhere else. We ended up here randomly via a Hotwire booking. Id stay again, but the overpriced restaurants kind of ruin the value.

Great experience at The Rigdon House. I stayed here with my family of 7 in a one/two bedroom room. It was very clean and cozy. The main room had two queen beds and the other room had one king size bed. Each room had its own tv and electric fireplace.Breakfast was really simple but still delicious. I had hard boiled eggs, oat meal, and juice.The back patio was perfect for hanging out, especially near the fire pit.

MUST READ!!My wife and I flew to San Diego on Oct 10th to stay until the 14th, where we were going to drive up to San Francisco and the wine country. The Rigdon House was going to be a stopping point for us during our drive up. First off, I am sadden by the wildfires and the loss of life and property in Northern California. I hope they can be contained soon and no further loss of life or property happens. We were forced to change our travel plans because of them, which is nothing compared to what the residents are experiencing or the crews fighting the fires.We called the Rigdon House to let them know that our travel plans had been affected by the fires and that our one night stay with them would not be possible since we were not going to travel to San Francisco or beyond. We contacted them on the 13th, the same day that ABC World News with David Murr confirmed that only 25% of the fires were contained, San Francisco was in heavy smoke and the air quality was comparable with the worst in the world in China, and that flights were being delayed and cancelled out of the airport. We are nearly 6 hours from the Ridgon House and now have to figure out how to change our plans to fly back home to North Carolina. Rigdon House didnt care.I called to learn they have a 5 day cancellation policy. Emily, the receptionist, said that natural disasters happen all the time and they cant cancel for me because they would have to cancel for everyone else affected by natural disaster when they travel. At least Emily was polite when making ignorant remarks. She offered to pass our information along to the owner, but instead I got a call from Aaron who is the manager. Aaron stated that it was against their policy to refund any money paid if the cancellation occurs within 5 days, but we had paid with Expedia and they had our money. Aaron went on the say that he had no control over our money and that it was up to Expedia to refund it. Guess what happened when we called Expedia!!!! They had to call the Rigdon Inn for cancellation authorization for the money to be refund, which they denied. There is no way that we could have complied with their cancellation policy anyway being that the fires started 6 days ago on Saturday. The fires began to get worse on Monday and Tuesday of this week. Emily or Aaron didnt care.Expedia had to practice customer service on behalf of this company at the Rigdon House by giving us a coupon to use later. The Rigdon House clearly has a policy that is a failure. This is a clear example of a greedy, dollar driven business that is more concerned with making money than doing the right thing, policy or not. There are policy failures in business and government, where policy does not always address the needs at hand. I would not recommend staying at this place unless you want to be stripped of your hard earn dollars unfairly. The least this business could do is to take the 171 dollars and donate it to the families affected by the fires in Northern California.

A flawless little hotel where you actually think youre in an alternate universe. Parking is perfect.No stairs to walk up. Just ramps. They make everyone welcome. The. Interior is old-fashioned and is very welcoming by design. The staff are friendly young women. One checked us in the other was decorating the Christmas tree. They even have the old style keys with the brass room number stamped on a brass plate.They have complimentary cocktails and a lite snack between 5-7.Many things are on the honor system. SO DO NOT GO THERE AND RUIN IT FOR OTHERS. Its like another place and time when you could drop your wallet or money, and someone would run after you to give it back. You dont see cretins busting through car windows to steal anything they can. The Rigdon House is just beautiful. So is the town of Cambria.

2023-11-27 23:56:23We stayed here for two nights after Thanksgiving in a Luxury King Suite. Our room was conveniently located in the front with its separate entrance. The front window and seating bench were perfect because I like to people watch. The room itself was recently remodeled, however, it could use some new furniture. Parking on site was very convenient. We were mainly visiting for the Cambria Christmas Market and one of the shuttle pick-up locations was directly across the street. Christian at the front desk was very welcoming and gave me a quick tour. We missed out on the evening drinks on both nights, which was a bummer. I would definitely stay there again if Im in town.

2023-11-25 12:54:10I understand the inherent quaintness of staying in a coastal California town, but I expected more from the Rigdon House. I had called to make sure I was getting a king suite and not a king room (room 25). No one returned my call after I booked and regretfully I didnt follow up. Needless to say Im checking out early.Not all of the rooms are fully remodeled. Room 25 is absolutely unimpressive. The room and bathroom are 20 years past their time for a renovation. Windows were open on arrival so the room was freezing cold. The windows had no locking mechanisms. The ceiling height and fan would give anyone over 6-0 a challenge not to run into. There was likely some art hung over the bed that was missing, but the hooks were still present. The couch is stained and I feel like Ive paid for a motel masquerading as a B&B.The only positives are the location, WiFi, pet friendliness, and walkability to the restaurants and shops. Staff was also friendly at check-in and gave me a brief tour of the common areas.

2023-08-09 16:53:41Amazing place to stay right off main street. There is a creek right out back and the remnants of a Chinese temple. The red bunk house. Great place to find dear and learn about local history of Cambria. It is a 4 minute walk to most anything that you will need or want to grab, a short drive from moon stone beach, along with galleries, eateries, and thrift shops. Amenities are stellar and housekeeping was incredible. Also, 5pm every night there is a happy hour down in the lobby, and on certain days, live music. It really was a delightful stay and I would highly recommend staying here.

2023-08-12 17:13:20Fantastic place to stay. My family of 5 wanted somewhere to stay between Santa Barbara and Monterey. We couldnt have picked a better place. Cambria is a quaint little place full of craft shops. Rigdon house is a beautiful house. The room was perfect for our group and the free cocktails and snacks were a welcome addition. Just a shame it rained in the evening so we didnt get advantage of the deck and fire pit.

The location of the hotel was perfect, very close to everything on Main Street. We will definitely stay at this property again.

2023-02-20 20:39:19We stayed at the Rigdon house the first night of our road trip along the coast. We called ahead to confirm our reservation, and the receptionist, Christian, was very lovely. He informed us that the front desk is closed at 7 pm and provided the late check in instruction. Fortunately we arrived before then, and was even able to get a couple free drinks during their happy hour!!The little inn was so charming. Not a lot of people so it’s a very homely vibe. We had a mini tour of the property, including the kitchen with snacks and coffee, and a large back yard with a fire pit. Our room is a king suit with a big balcony overlooking the backyard. It also has a indoor fireplace. My boyfriend and I loved everything about the place and wished we could stay a little longer. Would recommend the Rigdon House over any 5 star hotels to anyone staying near the area!

2023-04-23 23:59:59Positive: Great location. The room was large It was very quiet. It felt like staying in a large bedroom of a large home. Negative: The shower/tub did not have grab bars. The TV remote was non-functional. The problem was the TV and it could not be replaced during out stay.
