This is my girlfriend and my’s special date spot. As a former meat eater, the vegan fish and steak strips are somehow in a different league than any of the dozens of vegan places I’ve been to in SoCal. The ambience is genuine and peaceful, prices are affordable and the chili oil they sell is my new sriracha. Thank you!
Everything was great. The west coast tacos and the spring rolls had a welcome kick 🌶️ the mushrooms in the vegetable pho are delicious. The service is super sweet and the overall vibe is very welcoming :)
Hands down one of the best vermicelli bowls I have had! I havent eaten meat since 1997 and have had many vegan versions of the Vietnamese vermicelli bowl in the last 20+ years. This is my favorite version right now! I am also very happy to see that to go orders come in compostable containers - even the little sauce holder! Beautifully decorated and very friendly owners.
Excellent food. Everything was super good. Not just good for a vegan restaurant, but really good for any restaurant. We had a bunch of food including dessert.
Had the royal noodle soup and the tomato sauce tofu and everything was very flavorful and delicious. Loved the seitan beef, mushrooms, and veggies that were in our dishes.
I come here at least bi-weekly (and I am not even strictly vegan), because the Royal Pho and the Garlic Strips are two dishes that are unique to this area and taste better than any restaurant in the area… Also it is family owned and operated and Lauren and Anne are the most giving and kind people on the planet. The food is made and served with love and you can feel it!! Thank you for keep ing me healthy and happy!!… also the PB&J smoothie if it’s hot out… honestly I have tried the whole menu, it’s all Wow factor!
I brought my family food from here and they told me never to get them food from here again. I didn’t hear the end of how overly salty, sugary and heavy or oily the dishes are (I got them different plates). So to me it’s not necessarily healthy. The sauces can be sickly sweet and the meat on a few plates is carmelized so you know it’s loaded with sugar. We are not the type to waste food but a few family members started to feel unwell from all the salt and/or sugar so they just stopped eating. Many of the the entrees, and I’ve tried them all, are not light and perfectly seasoned anymore and seem to cater to people with a more standard American palate now. I used to eat here in the past then check my blood sugar and it was fine but now it goes up and stays up from all the sugar and white rice in the “multigrain” rice. To each their own since everyone is different. I hope your sugar stays level.Strangely and on the opposite spectrum, when I’ve added protein to a dish as a side it’s almost flavorless and looks like whatever was leftover that day (small uneven odds and ends not strips or larger pieces like in the plates) and it was a smaller amount so cheap move in their part. They literally used just salt once and another time a small amount of soy sauce. It costs $3 extra to add protein so does that sound fair to serve that slop to customers?Ever since Ann left, things have gone downhill not just with the food but also how things are run. A lot of the new employees can’t answer basic questions about the menu and will say they’ll do something then not do it. The weird part is my request is something they offered before but sometimes on a whim will change it without letting customers know so I’m just making sure it’s still available. It’s like talking to an airhead a lot of the time and not an issue I ever have at the dozens of other restaurants I go to. Its a simple yes or no but they make it so complicated. It’s also a question not a demand so they are free to say no which would be totally fine. In fact, I’d prefer they be truthful upfront and say “I’m sorry we can’t do that” instead of misleading me and lying to our face that they did what I asked when they know they didn’t. It gives the impression they’re cutting corners and also not understanding I ask things for a reason to make sure I’ll get and eat something I actually enjoy. Otherwise what’s the point? Sure they might fix the problem but it wastes both our time. I also don’t like having to regularly correct my order so often I don’t and you can imagine what it’s like to eat something you don’t want. Because of them saying they’ll do something but not doing it in the end (it’s happened more than once) I’ve had some meals here I truly hated eating.Haha and what’s up with the $1 upcharge for their multi-grain rice when a significant part of it contains white rice (see the photo from 8/3/2023 on their Yelp it’s 2/3 white rice) and the $1 upcharge for a small container of chili oil that is usually free on the table at other Vietnamese restaurants?I agree with my family that most of the entrees are way too salty, sweet and/or heavy but for me it’s ok every once in a while. They’re also convenient but I’m going to re-evaluate how much money I’m willing to spend here. I hope Ann trains the new staff better.
Delightful and quirky atmosphere in a weird little strip mall, with delicious varied vegan food. I always love playing the baby grand piano thats there!
Cant believe I forgot to review this place. Its hidden. But worth finding. They have a mix of different vegan dishes. All the ones we ordered were super good and left is wanting more. I think I will go back tomorrow!
Amazing food and service! Much tastier than Veggie Grill! We both had the bacn burgers with fries and shared egg rolls as an appetizer.
I once had a problem with my order at Sun Vegan and Lauren also seemed angry with me and did raise her voice. She sounded impatient and kept repeating the same question like she couldn’t wait while I thought about it. She also seemed passive aggressive because the next time she did the same exact thing I complained about AGAIN even after I made sure it’d be right this time. I told my boyfriend something was off with her after I complained. The customer service for me at least wasn’t great and a big factor in why I’ve rarely gone back. I don’t want to feel that unpleasant feeling others noticed like you better not dare call her out. I also want Lauren to know people do read reviews (which she said she didn’t care about in a review at Loving Hut where she previously worked) and decide to go somewhere based on them.The biggest issue with this place is how inconsistent the dishes are. Youll like something then the following visit or visits it’ll be so different (different protein, different vegetables, different taste and/or often something, usually the delish mushrooms, are missing) so you never know what to expect and sometimes the current version is bad. I think other people have pointed this out too and I don’t get it. I also think the plates are too salty and sweet but overall taste ok. The soups seem healthier.

Highly recommended for quality, quantity, and price. The best place for noodle eggroll bowl. So much flavor and well combined ingredients. Fried banana wrap dessert is one of a kind. Sweet, crunchy, creamy, and delicious.Healthy and greenish plants everywhere and abundant. Wonderful vegan vibe. Peaceful and serene.

Was traveling the country fall of 2019 and randomly stopped for pho. It was an amazing experience. I have food allergies and not only were they helpful but also knowledgeable which was refreshing after many states worth of blank stares.The food and their family will indeed never be forgotten as I still get cravings when reminiscing and I think about the mom everytime I see the moon. I have been hoping they survive covid restrictions so I can travel back one day in the future. I wish them & their regular patrons the best! Happy eats & nom noms folks, youll love the menu!

We have been going to their old restuarant for a few years and finally got to try the new one. Its just as amazing. Their beefless strips taste better than a lot of real beef (Im not a vegan).Thus pic is of the crispy noodles, so tasty!

Good vibes from a block away from the door. The Sun Vegan has a very friendly spiritual atmosphere. The customer service is on point. The outdoor and indoor seating areas are nice, spacious, and simple. The Spicy Lemongrass is very tasty and I think each bite tastes better with a forkful of everything on the plate (or a mix of one or two parts of the meal). The wood ear mushrooms are sooo good. The Sun Vegan follows COVID restrictions. The prices and portion sizes are decent. Nutritional Menu Ask: N/A

Great food to eat healthy and this is coming from someone who isnt Vegan nor Vegetarian.I suggest spicy lemongrass and chickun burger, as well. Their iced coffee is good too, itll keep you awake.Building is semi hard to find at first.

I love this place. Anne is so sweet and takes care of all her customers with love. The food is always really good and really reasonably priced. I absolutely love the multigrain rice that comes with some meals and the little nut topping that comes on the heavenly salad its my favorite! The ambiance is sooo peaceful. Beautiful lanterns hanging everywhere and luscious plants everywhere. You will be sure to have a relaxing experience here full of love. Oh and the chili oil is amazing!!

What an amazing hidden gem! This place has been bookmarked on my list for a while and we finally got to it. We came on a Monday night and the owner was the sweetest most caring person. You can tell she is passionate about her restaurant, the food she serves, and the quality she strives for. While we were eating, people were walking in and ordering food and you can tell that they have a very loyal following. And for good reason! The food was amazing!!!!! We ordered the lemongrass chicken and noodles with soy and spring rolls. It was all flavored very well and tasted amazing. We will definitely be back to taste the rest of the menu!
I ordered from Sun Vegan for pickup while on my way to Huntington Beach. It was my first time and the food was INCREDIBLE.The fresh spring rolls (2x) were delicious with vegan meat and an almond-like sauce.The vermicelli + crispy rolls was also amazing. I ate the whole thing. The blend of fresh ingredients, perfect rice vermicelli noodles, and the sauce was superb.Everything was reasonably priced and great portions. I will be returning to try the other items. Thank you!

I dont understand the hype about this restaurant. I went there around dinner time but it was not busy. The food was a bit blanch, but it overall was okay. However, the service was so bad. Have to fight to get the waitress attention. At some point, I just give up and serve myself. So difficult to get just a spoon and sauces 😕Im usually easy going but this place was just not it. Felt unwelcoming as the waitress greeted and chatted with everyone but my table (the other guests at that time was not from my ethnical group). The funny thing is that Im from the same ethnical background as her. I dont know if she just hate her own ethnicity or what. Either way, the experience was unpleasant.Will not come back as there are places with better and more respectful services that this one.
Had dessert here lemon poppyseed cheesecake and tiramisu. Yum!! My favorite was the tiramisu but both were very good. 👏💓 I would definitely come back here and recommend my friends to come here.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I absolutely love this restaurant. The lady is incredible! Shes always so sweet, cheerful, and just full of sunshine. The food is amazing, especially the vegan meat, it tastes better than real meat which is great for those starting on veganism. Affordable and high quality food with amazing customer experience. This place is amazing. My wife and I were in the area and looking for a vegan restaurant, and were excited a Vietnamese one popped up. Although it does have some non-Vietnamese dishes, my wife and I both went for noodle soups. Both were absolutely fantastic. Making it even better, the woman who owns it was incredibly nice and thanked us numerous times for coming in. We absolutely loved it, and if we lived in the area it would be our new vegan spot. Highly recommend it.
What a wonderful experience! Im new (8 months) to a vegan/whole food plant-based diet. Im in the area for work, and was pleasantly surprised to find several options for dining. The Sun Vegan is my favorite. The staff is helpful and attentive. The food is fresh and wonderfully prepared. I had the spring rolls, chefs plate, and raw lemon cheesecake. All were delicious. Ill definitely be back next time Im in the area!

Posted this elsewhere, but wanted to post it here as well, as this restaurant deserves the attention.Had this for the first time today and the food was fantastic! Had the veggie burger and it was one of the best vegan burgers Ive had: not to mention how savory it was with the dressing that comes with it. I also tried the PB & J organic smoothie which was also out of this world! I definitely recommend this spot for any and all appetites.

The spring rolls and crispy rolls are very tasty. The burger combo is very flavorful. Next time well be trying some of their various noodle soups. This is a pretty good and flavorful vegan restaurant. Very clean and super welcoming and kind owners.
The food is non consistent but always delicious. I find myself coming back to enjoy some pho every once in a while. The decorations are traditional. What truly shines here is the amazing service. One of the very best vegan places, the chocolate cake is one of the best Ive had. The food is amazing, quality is great, portion is great, prices are great, they have soups, Pho, Dill Tomato soup is heaven, the Heavenly Salad 🤤🤤🤤 They really make you feel at home when you come here. I really want to see this restaurant succeed because there are not a lot of vegan restaurants around especially those that offer healthy and tasty foods like Sun Vegan. Prices are reasonable considering high cost of living. Nice and clean bathrooms. Plenty of parking spaces. Pleasant decor. Seats are comfortable. Generous portions.Improvement opportunities: Service can be a hit and miss. Portion control...i.e. cut back on your salads, fries...

We visited the Sun Vegan for the first time today because I saw online that they had veg tiramisu and was excited to try it so we ordered to go. Anne, (I believe is the owner) was there to greet us with genuine kindness and enthusiasm. She was so sweet and bubbly as well as passionate about the restaurant and veganism in general. The tiramisu was delicious, firm and creamy. I look forward to coming back for a full meal next time I’m in town. The service is impeccable and I can’t wait to try more of their menu.

This is regardless the best tasting vegan pastry and soups I have had. You have to try ! If your a vegan or not. Made with skill and love. fyi, I am a great cook.. You do not need to be a vegan to like this menu !
Spicy Lemongrass chicken (vegan) was amazing and spicy. Owner is so nice and shell make you feel welcome. Plus, they serve reverse osmosis water at the table - not plain tap. Pure RO. If you enjoy vegan Vietnamese, you must try this. Prices are very fair too.

I am not vegan and I loved my burger and sweet potato fries. My vegan friend was happy because she had options to eat. The ambiance is nice, it feels like someones house a bit. Its hidden away. And the little statues outside are cute.
It’s a family owned business. The owners is couple. Husband is the main cook; wife takes care of the rest ( I believe she does cooking from time to time too). The wife is the kindest and prob most welcoming host in restaurant business.The food is amazing. All dishes are vegetarian and vegan. I tried the seasonal curry, the royal pho noodle and the fresh spring roll. All threeof them were delicious and I’d go back to try if possible. The noodle broth was delicious and didn’t leave me craving for water/sweetness like other pho place. The seasonal curry was also very creamy with lots vegetables. I wish they offer the french bread that I could use as a dipping food into the curry.The biggest problem (-2stars) are the serving speed. This restaurant is seriously short handed during busy hour. I visited on a Friday night around 6:30pm. There were already 3 tables sitting in the restaurant with their tables empty waiting for food. I was helped setting down and the wife explained to me that her husband was the only one cooking in the kitchen tonight so a long wait is expected; she’d like to help cook but her husband won’t be happy. I gave her the benefit of the doubt. For the next 45mins, nothing came out from the kitchen as the everyone in the restaurant just kept waiting. After an hour, me and my friends finally saw our dinner on the table. But our appetizer was forgotten and was serve as a desert.The food is delicious and mouth watering. But the service is seriously behind. Arrive early/late to avoid the crazy wait time.
You should DEFINITELY try this place out. I was very impressed. The food was awesome but what was more was that the atmosphere added a ton to the experience. There was a chill little garden outside with like all these dope statues of like Buddha and mushrooms and all sorts of animals and Jesus etc. The inside was clean and chill casual feel with an air of sophistication with like a piano in the front. I believe I met the owner. She was such a sweetheart! She had very nice and enlightened things to say and I wanted to try a desert but didn’t know if I had the cash on me to cover it and she said no worries if the cost was more than I had (which it was) she would cover the cost. This was very clutch caus ethat lemon poppy cheesecake might have been my favorite thing there. That or the crispy rolls which were an appetizer. They were so rad! I also had the garlic strips, the rice noodle dish that had the word royal in the title, coffee and smoothie which were all very good. I will definitely be going back here. Early and often! It was even very filling and very reasonably priced. Vegan or not, if you’re thinking about going, do urself a favor and go. U won’t regret it.

This place is amazing!!!! Being vegan and having Celiac Disease, its hard to find a vegan restaurant that can accommodate my allergy. They went above and beyond to make sure I was safe. The food is amazing and our server Tiffany was PERFECT!!!!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!!

Good stuff! got their spicy lemongrass and Viet coffee. the salad was heavenly... seasoned just right with some magic sauce they use and the protein was tasty as well. Not the biggest fan of the purple rice bc of texture but I respect it for the health benefits. will go back to try the curry!

I absorb love and care for people and world through the food! But its also extremely delicious to eat here, I could easily become vegan with the flavors that I taste here. Its a sustainable farm to table business model and its wholeheartedly vegan.
I used to like this place but Ive been really disappointed the past two times I went during business hours and the door was locked. I suppose its best to call first and make sure someone is there.

One afternoon, my daughter and I were taking care of important comic business with Jeff at JnJ Comics. She saw a vegan food place in the same complex. She is vegan. She was hungry. We walked over to The Sun Vegan.Immediately inside the entrance was a huge rack of the Supreme Master books and bumper stickers and dvds and.. there she was - on a big screen tv.My family has been periodically enjoying the vegan fare of The Loving Hut since the City of Orange franchise opened years ago. Each time we have gone, the Supreme Master has been on the huge TV. Out of a morbid-sort of curiosity I watched the show for a few visits. I found it incoherent and difficult to follow, very non-sequitor. I must not be the audience for which the show is intended.The curiosity quickly became annoyance as time wore on. Were we ordering vegan food or supporting a cult?I did my research. I understand better exactly what is going on behind the scenes and for the most part, from a customers POV, it can all be ignored.Back to out visit to Sun Vegan: We were greeted and served by a gregarious overly-enthusiastic not-at-all cult-y lady who was gregarious, overly-enthusiastic and not-at-all cult-y. We got my daughters grub to go since I was wore out by the ladys energy just by ordering. I couldnt do that for a whole meal.Once we had left my daughter told me that she sees the Supreme Master all over - Loving Hut, this place, Vegan Pizza, etcetcetc.. The S.M.s continues to grow. Whether that is good or bad for those involved is not relevant to this review, but for the vegans out there it is great!Any food shop S.M. is attached to seems to put a lot of care into their food. The meals are always tasty and the prices are decent.This recent rise in veganism is in part thanks to places like this. Saving the planet and all that is a good thing. So then, is this place.

2023-07-13 23:19:51Excellent service and tasty, FILLING vegan food.They have many options for protein including mushrooms, tofu, Gardien, and Beyond, and I think our server named at least one other.I ordered the curry dish and my friend ordered the lemongrass chickun. Both were super tasty.We stuck with water for lunch but next time Im here I will try one of the other fancy-looking beverages.Service was prompt and friendly!

2021-10-12 07:13:42Visited this Vegan restaurant at 5pm on a Sunday. Early dinner. The restaurant wasnt that busy while we were there. We were seated and given the menu. We ordered two dishes - The Royal Pho Noodle Soup and Claypot Ocean (serves with multigrain rice and a side of Heavenly Salad).The restaurant is very clean and neatly organized. There is also a patio dining area. The menu is quite extensive for vegan restaurant. Prices are reasonable.The dishes actually came out fast. We finished the food even faster. LOL! My husband said the soup for the pho can have more spice to it but I am also fine with the current level. My Claypot Ocean dish is actually seaweed wrapped soy protein (fake fish) with onion, black fungus, bell pepper and tofu. It goes well with the rice. The soy protein may be a bit too salty by itself but having it with rice is good. The Heavenly Salad is very fresh and refreshing.The lady behind the counter is very friendly and kind. I am assuming she is the owner. She came over to our table and asked if it was our first time there and also how do we like our food. We told her that it was our first time and we will definitely return to try the other food on the menu.

But the Sun Vegan has really been exceptional! So much so that just writing this made me place another order haha.Everything is vegan here, and they are nice variety of dishes. There’s pho, tacos, burritos, rice dishes, soups, and many more. We can’t wait to try everything on the menu.Absolutely 100% recommend!

Ann, the owner and cook is a true master of her craft.Aside from the food the space is also very pleasant and the service is impeccable. I’m certain I’ll be a regular here.

After dining here I can definitely see why they are rated so highly.ITEMS ORDERED:Chefs PlateRoyal Noodle SoupTASTE:Chefs Plate is basically a veggie stir fry with beef strips along with rice. They usually have a multi grain rice but the server apologeticically let me know they were out & only had white. The stir fry is seasoned well & pairs nicely with the plain rice. Its that savory, soy saucey (maybe oyster sauce), slightly sweet flavor Asian flavor. Veggies were very fresh & cooked well. I very much appreciated the asparagus since its less common than other veggies.Royal Noodle Soup is closer to a combo of bun rieu & maybe slightly tom yum. Good savory flavor, not overly salty & very comforting broth. Theirs rice noodles & sliced beef. Comes with like, cilantro & bean sprouts on the side. I enjoyed adding in Sriracha & a squeeze of lime halfway through as a way to have a different flavor.SERVICE, LOCATION & PARKING:Service was extremely friendly, welcoming & accomodating. Staff seemed very grateful for our business which was nice.They are located in Golden Triangle Center along with several other businesses and plenty of easy access parking. I was a little confused at first where the restaurant was since its the furthest in/located in the back of the shopping center.Interior was actually much nicer than I thought it would be. Mainly because this whole shopping center appears quite run down. Moderate amount of seating & theres outside seating that looks like the backyard of a home in a nice way.Id definitely return back here & would probably be a frequent customer if they were local to me. Good flavored, fresh vegan food at fair prices & fantastic service is always a win.

2019-03-24 16:48:00This restaurant is family owned. The owners are husband and wife; they are super sweet and friendly!! All dishes are Vietnamese and they are all vegan. We tried Bun Ca Thi La, Bun Rieu, Crispy rolls and Spring rolls. All of them are over expectation!!! Very very yummy. For the spring roll, I especially like their peanut butter sauce, so goooood! The husband owner is the main cook, and also while eating, he plays piano for us (a little bit of entertainment, which is very nice of him). Definitely will come back!!

2023-01-11 05:31:00Sun Vegan was a ray of sunshine on this rainy day. Ive been wanting to try their food for ages. They did not disappoint. The five Even the water tasted great. Id honestly return just to drink it. When we asked, the lovely server said oh its filtered. I must know more. My friend and I ordered spring rolls, fish tacos, and spicy lemongrass chicken. What I especially loved about the spring rolls was the peanut dipping sauce. It wasnt thick or too sweet like other places. Both of our meals were perfection. My friend kept asking are you sure this isnt real fish?Both mother and daughter are very pleasant and kind. While we were there, a young man and the daughter were discussing his proposed work schedule. She was so accommodating of his school schedule. Owners who treat their employees well get a gold star in my book. Its been a while since Ive been blown away by my experience at any restaurant. Ive been singing their praises all day and trying to schedule my next visit.
