The food was very good. You choose items from the menu which you can share with another person. We had the Cajun biscuits with remoulade butter as an appetizer, and they were delicious. For the entree, we had lamb and the broccolini. The food was delicious but seems that all of our dinner choices were seasoned with peppers and while not overpowering, it was a little much. It was our first time to the Wallace and on a Saturday night, the place is busy. With a full house the place seemed overcrowded, and it was hard to have a conversation on the small table that we were assigned. It was even hard to follow what the waiter said at times because of the noise level. At least we were seated in the back close to the open kitchen. My suggestion would be to make reservations for a table in the limited outdoor seating area as it is less crowded and less noisy. We did not stay for dessert due to the noise and got our sugar fix at the quiet Casino Bakery across the street. The service at the Wallace was slow and its understandable given the crowd. The bussing of the table was very prompt and efficient. Often, I did not see my serving plates disappear. Promote the bus boy to waiter! The open kitchen also seemed crammed with up to seven staff working in tight quarters. One nice touch was that the Wallace adds 3% to the bill for Kitchen Love.

Snarky service from the hostess. High prices with okay food (trout starter was tasteless, shishito peppers tasty but very oily, pork belly crispy and good, and Oreo pizookie dessert good but with a 30 minute wait). Would likely not come back

Drinks were fantastic and the food was well prepared. They were not very interested in discussing food allergies and it appeared the server was trying to rush us out to make room for other guests. We hadn’t ordered as much food as other parties and weren’t ordering bottles of wine and it felt like our order was less important to her despite the fact we spent close to $200. It’s a small plates restaurant, so make sure to order a few plates each.

Great restaurant with a vibrant atmosphere.Menu offering was diverse, with Italian influence (pumpkin agnolotti) and Asian inspired flavours. Dish sizes were large and 4 dishes is perfect to share between 2.Our favourite dishes were the pumpkin agnolotti and chopped salad.Service was generally good, with the exception of delay on one of our dishes, which the staff rectified.

Came here for brunch with a friend on a Saturday, right at opening.Ambiance:The space is cute. I like the option of sitting at the bar (smaller groups or by yourself) or at a table. It was raining, but theres also a small patio. Not sure if its dog-friendly or not.Service:The service was good. Our waiter was attentive without being overbearing.Food:We had the cinnamon roll, which was super fluffy and light. I had the biscuit and gravy. I thought it was fine. But if I went back, Id order something different. I did not find it memorable nor do I have the desire to order it again.My friend had the breakfast burrito and she really like that. The portions overall are generous and you wont leave hungry.Overall, with many brunch spots in the area, I am not sure Id go back soon, but am not opposed to it, if somebody else suggest it.

This place was AMAZING! Everything I ate here was unreal. The cooked carrot appetizer was shockingly tasty with an unlikely bean sauce. The duck leg pasta was so flavorful and rich. I could eat it forever. What a fantastic dish. Even the brioche rolls with butter tasted amazing. The ambience is hip and well-lit and our server was very nice. I would come here again and again.

The food here is excellent and very modern. We loved our two breakfasts, but the flavors and styles may not be for everyone since it’s new American. Just don’t expect traditional food here to look traditional. The pork belly tartine was great and the muffin was excellent, although the pork belly itself wasn’t as soft as I would hope for. This place seemed to be filled with groups of girls getting brunch and drinks together on a Saturday so if that’s your vibe then you’ll love it. We’ll probably be back here eventually.

Lets talk about the good. I cant lie.....The food is delicious. Props to the chef. I wish it was that easy though. This restaurant probably has more of a management issue than a chef issue. Lets talk about the bad which is sad considering the hardest part is making good food these days. Story time: I was looking at the menu and saw what looked like a delicious juicy burger being served to someone sitting behind me sitting at the bar. I asked about it and was told the bar had a totally different menu. With a menu so small with such few options; why wouldnt a restaurant put everything on one menu!? If youre looking for options... not your place. If youre looking for gluten free options... not your place either. My girlfriend has a gluten allergy so it was only like 2 things she could order. Secondly, dont get an alcoholic beverage. I ordered an Old Fashioned and it came in the smallest glass Ive ever seen accompanied with the largest ice cube I’ve ever seen. I think they used 3 eye drops of Makers to make the drink. And to charge me $15... you must be joking! Get real. I ordered the Tuna from the main menu....which again was delicious. It was basically a 3rd of an appetizer. It wasnt enough food to fill up an infant toddler. I had to order 2 more sides and get bread to get slightly full. Im also not that big of a person and my appetite is normal. If you want an overpriced restaurant experience that leaves you hungry... this is your place.

Amazing delicious food and awesome cocktails. Every time we go to The Wallace the food is outstanding and consistent. Their veg dishes are so tasty I could just eat them the kale salad is fantastic and perfect to split with others. The duck pasta is delightful. The wife and I like to split an app a salad and a main and that fills us up the portions are generous and the quality is amazing.

Had a wonderful celebratory meal here. Perfect date spot. Wait service was classy and knowledgable but unpretentious (a rare treat for LA). Cozy atmosphere with a dark bar and open kitchen view. Dynamic cocktails. The food is the standout star at The Wallace. The small plate preparations are gorgeous and the flavors are even better. Best octopus Ive ever had. The cauliflower was beyond beautifully presented. Not cheap, but definitely worth it for such a fine dining experience.

More of a 3.5 but I went with four stars because they deserve more than three. The bloody Mary was surprisingly whatever, and I must admit to having the same complaint that most have - small portions/hefty price tag. But the food is delicious - the breakfast sandwich I ordered (dirty bird) had a tremendously well seasoned turkey patty. Ambience is really nice, and the wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. Not quite worth all the hype, but it was still pretty good. I would go back.

I would have given it 4 stars but something that I saw when I dined there on Sunday annoyed me. The food is okay if you like that fancy stuff that offers tiny portions of things that probably should not be mixed together. The waiter really sold the entire menu to us through his creative suggestions and exciting descriptions of each item but I was not that thrilled with the taste. I ordered the Beet Salad. No thanks. It tasted kinda weird.The atmosphere is nice and it can be romantic.I must just like simple meals but what I really did not like besides the food was the fact I ordered a great wine (the Troublemaker) a red blend and I watched one of the hostesses take a straw, dip it into my freshly poured glass, cap the end with her finger and take a taste of it! What? Who does that in the presence of the patron. Gross. No thank you. I shouldnt see that type of thing.

I have been to the Wallace twice and it was phenomenal both times. Great for dinner with friends, a business dinner, or just about any occasion. Everything I tried was delicious, you just cant go wrong. The cocktails are thoughtful and they make their own giant ice cubes in different shapes and sizes to fit the glass. The ice cube in my old fashioned actually had the restaurant logo frozon into the ice. Trendy, hip, amazing food.

Its not cheap. 2 glasses of wine, 2 beers, 2 vegetable dishes, and 2 fish dishes was $135 before tip. The food was very good. I didnt have the wine, but we both liked all of the food, which I think is rare for 2 people to generally agree on everything. I would say the mushrooms were my favorite of the night. Parsley, birds eye chillis, and lime seemed like a weird pairing with mushrooms but it was very good.

4 of 5 of the dishes Ive had here were great! Menu is interesting and I want to like The Wallace. The big issue for me is the service. Ive found most servers to be very inattentive. When dining with a friend at a table, waitress seemed to dash away from us as soon as the minimum amount of interaction was concluded. I had a couple of follow up questions only to look up and realize the waitress was half way across the room. Dining alone at the bar, the bartender walked past me at least three times when my meal was done and my wine glass was empty. (I did start counting after sitting there for ten minutes with nothing to drink!) Thank goodness for the bartender from the other side of the bar - she came over and asked if I needed anything. Intresting menu and cocktail menu. I want to like this place (the duck was amazing) but its tough to go back to a place where you dont feel welcome.

This is a little hidden gem in C City. From the moment we walked in the door we felt welcome and well provided for. I highly recommend the beet salad, grilled cauliflower and the carrots. The dishes are simple yet flavorful and beautifully presented. The common seating area makes it tough if u want to bring a date there and require a cozy table for two. However, if youre willing to wait for a patio table or one near the open kitchen you are in for mouthwatering treat! The decor is upscale modern but not too intimidating. The music was subdued and the service was excellent. The Wallace staff know their menu well and are happy to make recommendations. The prices are somewhat high but not like similar places in the area. The plates are small and meant for sharing and range from $9-$15. The food is freshly prepared and takes some time. This is not the place to go if you are in a hurry but believe me, it is entirely worth the wait Even though they have only been open 4 months, and Id never been there, I think a strong argument can be made for The Wallace being the best restaurant in Culver City. It is certainly very high on my list.

The Wallace is a great spot in Culver City for some delicious California cuisine. Its got great ambiance, good service, and a fantastic selection for food + drink. Its a great place to go to with friends/peers or take parents from out of town. They have a great space and the restaurant can accommodate a large group. There are indoor & outdoor choices in seating and a large bar. Just be warned that when the restaurant is busy, you may experience some hiccups or slower service. Ive never experienced bad service but it has been slow when theyre busy.Parking is a bit of a nightmare around this area, so just plan ahead.

My wife and I went for our Friday date night dinner. The reservation app wasn’t working so we called ahead and they seated us right away. Dinner was excellent. We had great cocktails to start off the night. We had the scallops with edamame and the asparagus with serano peppers as starters, next we had the fried chicken which was chicken thighs, boneless with the skin on, breaded and delicious. It came with coleslaw. My wife got the short rib pasta which was excellent as well. Lots of short rib in there and I loved the linguine that soaked up a very nice tomato based sauce. It has a very nice atmosphere, excellent servers. The right lighting for a date and a view of the kitchen to watch if you want to .Great date night. See you again

Visiting from Dallas. Landed at the Wallace in a random fashion. The online reports were promising. It was awesome! Things you order are meant to be shared. And they do this very well. Favorites for me were the asparagus, grilled shrimp and fried chicken. Near the top was pork tenderloin (thin sliced, cold) with salad. Cauliflower was good. Marinated olives were a nice start. This place was great. I went with some co-workers and had a bunch of shared things. The lamb was great, as was the beef cheek paperedelle. The drink menu was limited, but everything seemed really cool and inventive. I had an IPA Id never heard of before. Great atmosphere and dont miss the wallpaper on the way to the restroom.

The food was good and reasonably priced. The portions seem smaller but they are actually just right for finishing. The service was inconsistent as the level of busy rose and fell. Great when we got it though. Most important to note is the ambient volume. This is a lively place that gets loud - not a place for an intimate conversation or relaxing visit. Thats not bad, but good to know ahead of time. But for fun, festive food and experience, its excellent.

A new favorite of mine in Culver City. They have a seasonal menu and source foods locally. Entering, you have a choice of seating at tables, tall tops, or simply at the bar. I enjoyed the roasted cauliflower appetizer. What made this special for me was the barbecue sauce! I shared the wild salmon with a butternut squash and white corn kernels with my friend, so that we could share the steak with mushrooms. My favorite of the two were the tasty slices of steak. The vegan chocolate mousse was a fine way to finish off the meal. Parking? There is plenty on Venice Boulevard just off Main, or in the large parking structure to the west. As for the logo.., the upside down chair is supposed to be a stylized W...

Im sad about The Wallace. Over the last three years, this has been one of my favorite places to eat. The food is consistently delicious. Like much better than most places. The service, on the other hand, is a crapshoot. Ive experienced such a broad range of service here (from friendly and informed and attentive, to downright rude), that Im convinced theyre not taking training and service seriously. Its too bad because the food is stellar. But the last time I visited, I left very mad about the service, and I probably wont go back anytime soon. Boo!

My group and I sat for a long time and tried many dishes land,sea and vegetable which were all really good and flavorful. Everything is seasoned well and there are many tasty sauces! I recommend the fried chicken, short rib ravioli, octopus, smoked trout, carrots, sunchokes and everything else! The deserts were really great, the pumpkin pie was amazing but really small. Went on a Wednesday night. Looking for a new top notch culinary experience and decided to check out the chatter. So disappointed, actually I was disgusted. We started with three different plates. The spread plate was overly spiced. Its one thing to have spice as a goal, but quite another when flat spice heat drowns out what should be fresh and fabulous flavors on their own. The second was a stuffed pasta again when properly prepared the nettles should be divinely savory, but there was too much salt to taste anything else. Finally, we tried a braised short rib, this was bland beyond belief! I grant that after being assaulted by pepper in the first course and salt in the second there is a chance that my taste buds malfunctioned. Still the chef is ultimately responsible for the poor quality of the food. There are great dining options in Culver City, but the Wallace is not one of these. It is perfect for the shallow and unrefined palates of middle-aged, wannabe hipsters who think that expensive means good and very expensive means great.

Very underwhelming despite the hype. Really should be 2.5 stars, but rounding up. Cool space and nice servers, but more things were wrong than right. Food that should have been served hot (kale, octopus, short rib ravioli, duck leg) were all lukewarm by the time they got to table. Best thing we had of 6 dishes ordered was smoked trout. They got 3 out of 6 drinks wrong and had to be remade. All of us agreed its not worth a return visit. Cest la vie.

The smoked trout was a small portion and only served with two pieces of small thin toast, no veggies or other accoutrements like at other restaurants. My juice was almost all ice. My friends sweet potato bowl wasnt that great. Not impressed.

The Wallace might be the best restaurant in Culver right now. Perfect for a night with friends, or a work dinner, it has quality food and a delicious menu. Every item on the menu is unique, approaching it from an American angle. Variable food at high prices with spotty service. Brunch is the only meal that seems priced right. I just dont feel excited to go here. The dishes and drinks that are good are almost enough to convince me to give them another shot - but I cant recommend this place for the prices and service. Absolutely phenomenal. Everything was delicious. I would highly recommend the West Coast Oysters, The Parker Rolls, the Grilled Octopus, and the Chicken Catsu. As well as the Sweet Corn Agnolotti. The latter was delicious, featuring crushed macadamia nuts as well as a hint of garlic and umami. Overall, the meal was an explosion of different flavors. While one may critique that this restaurant doesnt offer a slow dining experience and one may be disappointed by the contemporary atmosphere and short dining time that would usually come with the price tag of a more refined restaurant, the sheer flavor experience makes it worthwhile.

This place is a joke. Ordered a short rib ravioli dish which was not quite cooked(not Al Dente). 5 or 6 small raviolis in a dish with some sauce for $18...Far from exceptional and Im still hungry. You need to spend a minimum of $50 to feel like youve eaten(they charge $1 for two pieces of toasted bread). Good atmosphere is about the only positive that I can think of. Overrated.

Its millennial heaven . Now popular Farm to Table restaurant. I easily found decent wine ( red blend called Obvious Wine) and had some food. Cauliflower was delicious, shishito peppers were also great. Octopus was well seasoned but not cooked to a perfection when it is twaender this one was on the tough and chewy side . Service was very good and attentive. By seven pm on Friday but was full and acoustics started to fail you could not hear a person next to you.

Not quite sure whats going on here. Small plates? Great. Interesting cocktails? Sounds good. Execution? Ehhhhhhhhhhh. Weeknight dinner, opened with the crudo, it was great. Had a couple cocktails, they were okay. Had some more food and it was just... fine? Surprisingly not exciting? Do this for a couple more rounds and pretty soon we had a substantial tab and could only point at that first crudo as anything wed order again. Cocktails were neat in theory, but what showed up at our table was underwhelming. Then the realization that after multiple courses including salad and dessert, we could all really go for a snack. To the Taco Bell!Service was fine, parking is what it is, but overall, a disappointing take on the current small plates/fancy cocktails concept.

Bartender was a little coy about helping me select a cocktail. Said he made the menu from the various questions they hear at the bar- whats good here drink. I ordered a drink that must be new to the menu because I dont see it on the attached image. It was some sort of shandy (beer+liquor) and came with what they call a buzz button. The buzz button looked like an old piece of weed bud. I chewed it up, waited 30 seconds, my mouth started salivating and then consumed my drink. It also made it a little numb. Really incredible feeling, in a good way. The drink was overall delicious albeit a little gimmicky. But who doesnt love a good show. Thats it. The end.

This is a nice addition to the selection of restaurants in downtown Culver City. The menu is split into 4 sections (appetizers, salads, sea and land), and everything is served tapas-style, in small plates meant for sharing. The waitress suggests that each person order 2 or 3 dishes, which was perfect for my group of 4.Theres also a nice drink menu, with a great selection of beers. The Peanut Butter Milk Stout on tap is pretty amazing. Ive never had anything like it. Its a dark beer with a taste somewhere between peanut an root beer.The Ricotta Dumplings are incredible! Rich and delicious. The Lollipop Kale Salad was probably my favorite dish of the meal. Fresh & crunchy, with a nice spicy kick. The Albacore Tartare was really good too, I just wish they served it with more of the crispy-cracker thing, because it pares really well with the tuna, but theres just not enough.The Roasted Scallops were great, served with sweet potato and the pomegranate seeds give a surprising crunch along with the tartness. The Alaskan Halibut was good, I liked the eggplant puree, however it really did need the sauce because it was a bit dry.The Fried Marys Chicken as very crunchy, and was great when dipped in the hot sauce. Its served with Chow Chow, which is like a pickled cabbage. The tartness pared well with the crispy & spicy chicken. The Parker House Roll seemed like an after-thought. Im even sure why it was there.The Squid Ink Capellini was not as good as I hope it would be. The flavor was a little fishy. It wasnt bad, just not as great as some of the other dishes.For dessert we shared the Southern Pecan Pie, which is served with Sweet Potato Ice Cream. OMG, it is A-MAY-ZING!! We also tried the Everything Nice, which is a Snicker Doodle cookie curly-cue served with Dulce De Leche and Horchata Ice. This was really good too!!The service was great, very attentive. Was is served in tall, serve-yourself bottles which were replaced as soon as they were empty. (The only weird thing is that they put a $1 charge on your check for water service.) Our food came out quickly, and our plates were cleared quickly as well. The room has pretty horrible acoustics, so it got really loud when the place was busy. Also, the chairs are pretty uncomfortable.For anyone that misses Paiche in Marina Del Rey, this is a great replacement. Not as expensive, but not quite the same level of explosive flavors either. But I will certainly be back to try the rest of the menu!Theres a great parking structure 1 block over from the restaurant, first 2 hours free and only $1/hr after that. The only downside is theres usually a slow line to get out.

My boss happened to be in town for our regional meeting, so when she said we could discuss the LA market over dinner, I immediately went on my search for a great restaurant to take her to. The Wallace came up as a participant in dineLAs Restaurant Week, and after looking over the menu, I decided this would be the spot, and The Wallace did not disappoint!The Wallace was majorly hoppin on a Thursday night, so Im glad we made reservations, and we were seated immediately. The noise level is pretty lively, but we were still able to converse and hear each other well. The prix fixe menu they had slightly deviated from the one posted online, but mostly in layout, which I think actually worked out in our favor.Our four-course dinner started with the Jars. I would HIGHLY recommend the Duck Rilletes--this was phenomenal, and I would come for just this--and the Tomato & Basil was quite nice as well. Following this was our Vegetables selection: we decided on Lollipop Kale (this was fantastic!!!) and the Cauliflower. My boss ordered the Flat Iron Steak as her main, and I ordered the Alaskan Halibut. Both were really rich in flavor, with the halibut being quite buttery, and the steak quite flavorful with spice. Finally, we finished with the Coconut Tres Leches Cake and the Rocky Road. The cake was deeeelicious with a fantastic passionfruit drizzle, and I also really enjoyed the Rocky Road. Even though Im not a huge fan of marshmallow, they did it really well as a whip, and the chocolate mousse was divine.The service started off a touch slow, as we waited a little while for someone to come around to take our order, but once the courses started, everything was quite well-paced. Our server also came around routinely to check on us, and was great with his suggestions at the start.Overall, The Wallace was an exceptional value for dineLA. Went for a casual meal with my significant other, started with bland shishito peppers - okay, no problem. Followed by pork belly which was garnished with 3 giant handfuls of peanuts and half a bottle of something akin to A1 Steak Sauce (??). Our waitress recommended the halibut because the scallops we ordered were no longer available. No sweat. Fish arrived, lukewarm, tasted and textured like stale Play-Doh. We had no expectations coming in but left in hysterics at how bad the meal was, especially for ~$80. Staff was nice, though!

Three quarters of what I had was amazing. Started with a wonderful gin cocktail and followed up with a finely crafted whiskey cocktail after - definitely instilled faith in their drinks. The first dish was heirloom tomatoes but unfortunately most were not ripe and had very little flavour... very disappointing. But then came out one of the most delicious bucatinis Ive had. With a solid dollop of burrata, green pasta and delicious fall veg it was well balanced and possibly the best dish Ive had this trip to LA so far.
