Been a while since Ive been here. Menu is still roughly the same. I like the Mexican breakfast stuff, burgers or sandwiches. Its a bit dark in the morning, as they try to let natural light be the lighting. Our waitress was nice.
Food was decently priced, plates were very filling, and my large group was accommodated quickly. Everyone left stuffed and happy with the experience!
Very loud orchestra music from 1941 playing and they had no way to turn it down. The waitress said everyone complains about it but it is piped into the store. Food was filling. Had flies all over in restaurant but it looked very clean.
Nice small town atmosphere with great food...just lovely.
Pork chops were great and the chicken noodle soup was very good. We’ll go back for breakfast before we leave town.

The food was average. I was in a group of 6. Two of us were visiting family from out of town. Naturally, we were engaged in each others conversation and took us a while to order. However, the waitress seemed pretty annoyed with us. After we ordered, it took a while for our food to come. My dad ordered salmon and was the last plate to be brought out. His salmon was so cold. He ordered a hot coffee and was served old coffee. We asked my dad not to eat his food and wed let our server know. My dad is 73 and decided he didnt want to wait. We mentioned the cold salmon waitress when she came around and asked how everything was. Her response you shouldve said something soonerWhat she doesnt know is that I observed the Kitchen staff struggle to stay organized. At one point she was asking for certain dishes/sides they did not make. I also observed her interaction and demeanor with other diners.The waitress cashes out at table side. I find out unfair and wrong for servers to hand you the credit card terminal preset with a tip and not give diners the privacy to adjust based on diners experience and quality of service. She made us feel like we irritated the S*** out of her for coming in to dine.I know most places are understaffed right now but that does not have to result in poor customer service.
The food is good, the waitresses and host are excellent, but the menu is CRAZY OVERPRICED. I had a 3-egg omelette with hash browns and 2 pieces of toast for $10.95. Add cheese...for 95¢. Add ham...for 95¢. You want coffee? Add $2.54. Bill came out to $16.69 after tax. Using a card? Add a 54¢ adjustment fee. Overall, my total was $17.23 before tip for a 3-egg ham and cheese omelette with hash browns, buttered wheat toast, and coffee. It was good, not great, nowhere near worth that price. Disappointing. The server was very nice, though.
Unexpected! This is a nice upper-scale restaurant for Soledad. The food was good and the service was good too! No complaints I would eat here again. Although we only came here bc we had looked at a building for sale and we were hungry... normally we just pass through Soledad.

I had one of the different types of chicken sandwiches and and let me tell you what that I was very impressed. They actually had 2 pieces of chicken breast in the sandwich. Very generous portion. And it was delicious as well.Also, a very nice selection on the menu.
Very friendly place to eT and the severs are get and the cook made the food taste amazing.
Food was very good, but our waitress wasnt. Once order placed an served she never returned to our table again. We had to continuously stop others to get anything else.
A good place for vegans and vegetarians. It does have some traditional bacon dishes. They grow a lot of their organic produce and the outside dining is very pleasant. I think they have the best tofu scramble in town. Their dishes are on the small side so by the time you finish adding sides it turns into a pricey breakfast. But I guess the logistics of using organic produce, etc and trying to keep the pricing affordable has equaled small portions of many things on the menu
6/25/2022It was Sat. 6/25/2022 @ 7 pm. Walked in w/my sister whom is in a wheelchair. 4 waitresses were standing around the register on their phone or fixing their hair. No one greeted us then one of them that we can sit wherever we wanted after looking at each other like who wants to serve them. So we sat ourselves moved the chairs out to fit the wheelchair. Waitress came after 10 minutes handed our menus then left. So we got up after waiting 15 min n told the waitresses still standing around the register doing nothing that their service was lousy n we left. I think the owner is trying to get away in hiring cheap labor with the young girls who have no experience, just lazy. Beware not good anymore.register on their phones or fixing their hair.their t
Stopped here after a high school volleyball game, got a steak to go (the sirloin) and ate it in the team van on the way home, no joke it was so good i didnt wanna eat anything else for a day or two after. I kept dreaming about coming back and months later, i still really wanna come back but its a little too far to just go for a steak yknow, but if youre here, without a doubt this is the place to go.
Service was really great but u fortunately the cook did not get my order right. I ordered the California Omelette which was supposed to have olives, avocado and pepper jack cheese and instead my omelette came with a piece of bacon, no olives, and tons of mushroom. Severely disappointed. Only reason for any stars is because the servers are delightful
Food was good. Some American and Mexican dishes. Took 25 minutes to get a server on brunch hour. Catered well to toddlers, even though the kids drink came in a giant adult glass. All in all recommend.

I really liked that our Valley Harvest Inn Hotel Room was right next to the restaurant . We let both places know we were Celebrating our Valentines 20th Anniversary Weekend... they made me feel like a Queen & Special for the weekend ! I had my 15 yr old Grandson & My daughter in law with us ! My husband & both of them had the Hamburgers/Fries.. The Hamburgers were so big & Delicious they all said. I ordered a Salad, Sirloin Steak w/Shrimp,& Baked Potato. The steak was cooked to perfection !! It was so juicy & succulent!! I Loved my food! We were so full that we paid for our meal, went right next door to our room. I liked that the restaurant stayed open until 10 pm, because around 8:30 pm we went to get dessert & took it back to our room . I ordered the cheesecake with hot fudge drizzled on top, & an apple pie w/scoop of ice cream! My daughter In Law order a lemon meringue pie, & my grandson an apple pie w/scoop of ice cream. Oh it was all so Delicious !! I liked that the cheesecake was from the Cheesecake Factory!! I highly Recommend this Restaurant !
I’m a black traveling RN. Lunchtime and it was busy, that’s ok. There was attitude when the waitress said I was to sit anywhere, mind you I had never been there before. I asked about a menu before I went to have a seat and I was told I’ll bring it! Ok! There was a white couple behind me. They sat in a booth behind me. When she finally brought the menu over, that same waitress, slide it on the table almost behind my booth and never asked if I would like something to drink! A good 10 minutes later, Why did the same waitress walk right past me and ask the white couple for their order. I had the menu in my hand and it made a noise as I released it onto the table. I looked back at that wrong person and she saw me out of the corner of her eye ! I got up and walked out!! I’ll never spend my money their! People are people! As a older black female, I know prejudice when it occurs!Lunchtime busy or not, if you’re not fair and don’t like what you do stay home!
This restaurant is nothing short of amazing. I’m not a local but will be here for 6 months. I’ve been here 4 times and ordered 8 different things. Each and every single item is nothing short of delicious. The care and pride they take in the food and cleanliness is too notch. It’s almost always busy here. I can totally understand why! It’s worth a stop on your culinary tour. They have Hahn house wines. I had the Pinot noir yumtastic! I’m gonna have to check out the winery now!

My wife and I are regulars at the Windmill and the service is usually great. However, this time, we were the only group (4 adults and 1 child) and the food was good but the service was very poor. We left disappointed because there arent a lot of restaurants in the South County area.
Im regular customer but find out today server trying to over charge me 20 on add on tips I never choose when I reply I will pay cash and no using electronic device she was not happy about it. from 82 dlls breakfast it went to 59definitive the owner dont want to loose a regular customer for a bad server
Waited 30 minutes at our table and didn’t get any service. Front of house doesn’t seem to be managed on Wednesday mornings. I can’t review the back of house but I’d imagine they’re doing their best. Get a manager or supervisor for the floor, we literally waited 30 minutes and left to Denny’s and no one said a thing or asked if we’ve been helped…
Not enough waitresses. Once food made it was left at the pick up window and everyone talking all over it. Bad service, our server not once ever asked if we needed anything or how the food was. I was hoping food wouldmake up for bad service and boy was I wrong. Food was really bad and expensive. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Waste of money.
The food is average American local. The pesto chicken is good the au jus is nice, the steaks.. nothing special. I usually steaks for high end specialty or home but I bit. It was average. Nice people decent service.
We had our dinner here. Their fish and chips was good as along with it they give steamed veggies too. I ordered soup and salad which comes with garlic bread. The server gave the soup but forgot to bring the salad, then she forgot to bring the garlic bread. Once I asked her right away she got the garlic bread which was dry, crumbly to touch and stale. We stopped in here for lunch on a trip down 101. They weren’t very busy, but service was prompt and courteous, and the food was great. Would definitely stop in again.
The food was tasty however service was not the best. The waitress was very friendly however did not check in regularly to see if we needed anything. I had to go ask for my own container to pack my food. portions were hearty so we did leave full.
Wife and kids walk in today. Waitress says “sit wherever you like”. As we’re going to sit ourselves she tells us “no not there”. Lol ok.I guess we can’t sit where we like. No problem. Food was really good. I enjoyed my double cheeseburger and my daughters love their tri tip sandwiches. My wife had a pasta and she also enjoyed her meal. The problem with this restaurant was the flys. We were surrounded by them the whole time we sat at this restaurant. They are all over ceiling too. I don’t understand why but they are there. We were swatting away flys while we ate and it was annoying and gross. The windmill is also very expensive. We will back to eat on a date night for sure because the food was good, the waitresses were attentive and the alcohol options were nice too.
Interesting and mellow atmosphere in this place. Has a diner vibe but with a sort of modern twist. Good tasting food, good presentation. Food took a little while to come out but was ultimately worth the wait. I got the wings and a side salad, both were tasty. They also do catering.
This was the worst restaurant I have eaten at in 20 years. The omelet was tasteless and the country potatoes were burnt and had to much salt. The portions were very small and the waitress did not come back to refill our drinks even though our coffee cups were empty. We would have been better off eating at the McDonalds located on the same block in Soledad, CA. Just passing thru but never again!
We ordered a veggie burger, sandwich and jalapeño poppers. The poppers were not spicy at all because they removed all seeds. My burger patty was not well cooked. The sandwich was okay.
Ive been here twice on 2 separate occasions. Overall its okay. Portions are a good size, however the taste/plating is mediocre. The enchiladas have too much going on and the loaded potato had a watered down taste. Its nice to have other options close by being in king city but the flavoring could use work.
This place has great food and great service and waitresses who are all easy on the eyes! I will definitely go back to this place! PS you also get good servings, they dont hold back on making sure your plate is full!
The staff was very friendly here, but I wasnt very impressed by the BLT. It really didnt have any flavor, and the bacon was soggy and didnt look completely cooked in some spots. The atmosphere was good and warm, and we didnt feel rushed or anything.
This restaurant is wonderful. Great food, excellent service and priced well. We went for dinner and ordered sandwiches because the dinner menu seemed like so much food....wow amazing sandwiches that we couldnt even finish. Food was delicious very reasonably priced.

This is not a Michelin 5-star restaurant, but the appetizers were good, the pastas were delicious and our salads were pretty good. The Greek Salad was a new item, and could be much improved with a better dressing and Greek olives to replace the black ones. What put this roadside Christmas Eve dinner experience over the top for us was our server,. An adorable blonde whose name is not on my cc receipt. She did a terrific job of making menu recommendations, checking back several times, and just being very engaging with my husband, two daughters and myself. After hours and hours on the highway, with 3 more ahead of us, this was a surprising and refreshing experience. Would definitely dine here in route again next time.
Besides the lentil soup everything was delicious. As well as having super attentive waitress, the atmosphere was mellow and welcoming. They had sports on the televisions making so I didnt miss a beat! Will definitely be back!
Came to eat at this place tonight not impressed with the 20 min plus wait time of being ignored. After which had to literally flag down the waitress just to pursue my order and drinks. Then trying to charge a gratuity of 25% with lousy service with zero apologies. Definitely I’ll be bringing my business elsewhere next time 👎🏽

They just served us old food. I had the crispy chicken salad, the chicken was old, mostly breading and hard as a rock, seems like they just re-fried it. My wife had enchiladas. They were not fresh, were cold, and found a hair in it. Definitely not worth $26.
Wow. Surrounded by chain fast food, this local coffee shop surprised me. That’s the exact way bacon should be cooked. The mashed potatoes were perfect. You’re not going to get hifalutin food here, just really good food.
A real surprise gem on our drive down from SAn Francisco to LA... we didnt expect to find a place like this off the highway, the food was excellent, service was great and speedy, environment was casual and the whole place was almost filled up on a Sunday afternoon. The tiger shrimp pasta was amazing - and came with super yummy buttery fried bread.
Stayed overnight in Soledad and ordered the Gilroy chicken sandwich and the Big Sir with sides and soup. The Gilroy sandwich was excellent, split pea soup thick and full of flavor, and omg the potato salad is memorably delicious.The order was ready to pick up on time and later in between bites we kept exclaiming how good everything was. Really happy we chose this place.
Overall positive experience. Had a good quick breakfast here and everything was good. Each order had a good amount of food, but the cheese in my omelette was not melted at all.
The ribs werent like they used to but the rest of the plates were great. The staff is very nice especially our waitress. She treated us like she knew us forever.
Placed an order for my wife and I since it was her birthday and she wanted dinner from the Windmill. When we came home from picking up our meal I found out that my wifes meal was wrong.... she wanted fry chicken dinner and she received chicken fried steak??? I picked up the phone to let them know that our order was wrong and it was about 15 minutes before they closed and nobody answered the phone.....so our dinner was ruined!!! For what i paid for the food you would think I would get what I ordered...1/25/19

This place used to be a great place to eat usually i give a restaurant the benefit of the doubt the first time Im served a bad meal so me and my lady tried it once again big-time mistake when finally served being just a hamburger and a chicken sandwich which took a good 30 minutes both meals were served cold. I couldnt believe it, so thats the last time Ill spend a dime at this establishment. Now theres nowhere in Soledad to sit down and have a decent dinner thank God Luigis is 8 miles north in Gonzalez.
If your in soledad an looking for a place to have dinner. Windmill is the perfect place to go. The food is really amazing and delicious and the staff are super nice. I absolutely love the burgers there especially the windmill burger. So delicious

Staff is pretty slow, as well as the service. Food is good with a large menu, but the options arent too many if youre not a fan of avocado. Be ready for your food to take a while.

If I could give it a zero (0) I would ... I was charged one amount on my receipt and then my bank card another on the same day.... Poor service from the manager, he us never in does not return messages and he comes into work as he pleases. What kind of service is that! I work for a company who does our lunch ins there and we will never go back due to this behavior ... The company I work for has been in Soledad for more then 30 years and always goes to Windmill ... Not anymore !! So sad a small community resturant with good food has such bad service.
Great little restaurant. We always stop in for breakfast after the annual family and friends camping trip to Arroyo Seco. The breakfast choices are all tasty with good sized portions.
New York Steak and eggs were good. Nice atmosphere and very welcoming decor. Will definitely come again.

2023-11-25 21:32:19Picked this spot on our road trip back to home. The burgers were tasty and cooked the way I like them. The onion rings are actually exactly my favorite kind and just as good. Its a little pricey for what I was expecting but not outrageous. The burger meat was definitely quality beef.Overall its a nice spot to stop in, stretch your legs, and have a big bite off the highway that isnt a chain or fast food fly-by :) Wish I had gotten here in time for their breakfast menu- it looked great.

2023-11-06 19:27:47Came for breakfast. Food is decent, nothing special. Service was good. Coffee is not good. Id consider coming back for breakfast if they had better coffee, but not a bad place to eat. They had some lunch & dinner options that looked really good.

2022-01-16 06:49:44Great restaurant we did find on our way to marina.Great food, traditional American kitchen, well prepared.Did have BLTs which were very tasty and absolutely fresh.My wife did have fish and chips which were amazing.Place was clean - even though the restroom could get more attention to lift this entire place to the next level.Pricing was good! Will come again.Great and friendly staffing, thanks for this great dinner.

2023-11-17 12:10:30I placed an order for pick up ( 2 people). The irder consisted of a root beer float, a Chinese chicken salad and a steak sandwich . Total about $56 ( not including the tip). After adding the tip, the total was about $65. Food was good, still warm by the time i made it back home.

2023-07-01 21:54:43Decent restaurant walking distance from the supercharger. The windmill burger wasnt as great as it sounded but I was impressed they cooked it perfectly to order. Potato salad was amazing, and has a little kick. Seafood plate was just ok. Fried foods were the best options here.

2022-01-15 04:55:35Place is nice, even nicer inside. It has a beautiful painting of a farm, the Windmill Restaurant sign and a mountain back draft. Very nice and attentive server. She recommended the Windjamer Breakfast Sample and Linguica Skillet so we ordered them. Serving size is ample. Room for improvement would be the Linguica Skillet is a little salty for my taste. Hot chocolate is good with whip cream topping. Its a gem in this nice, quiet town of Soledad. We want to come back again and try their other offerings.
