Traveling around the world and eating in many amazing restaurants rarely has me as surprised by how good Tierra Sur is! As a restaurant in a uncommon place for kosher restaurants it stands out in more than just exclusivity. From the 5 star service to the Exquisite taste, everything was impeccable. Although the pictures attached are quite amazing, they do not do it justice of what it feels like to experience it in person. I cannot wait for my next trip back to Oxnard!

Very fancy restaurant, the food is really expensive, a bit too much for what you get.The restaurant is located in the middle of an industrial site which no taxi drivers knew about.There is no sign for the entrance or warm welcoming. You just enter and no one is there to welcome you. Looks a bit like a secret place/hideout.The waiters were really helpful and smiling (a bit too much).The beef steaks were good but super expensive.The restaurant would need to revisit their layout a bit to bring a more romantic atmosphere that could match their price tag.The lava cake wasnt a lava cake, maybe a chocolate moelleux.The meal prices are 30% too expensive.Wines and drinks are affordable though.There is a mandatory 22% service charge.A bit disappointed overall.

Considered by many to be the finest in kosher dining. I would say this place was solid though also not my favorite of where I have been.Service was good and quick. Dinner was exceptional. Tierra sur has kicked up their game. Be aware that it is a Prix fixe menu so not much room for choice however the food was fantastic. The staff is very attentive and having a wine tasting nearby only adds to the experience.

Phenomenal meal by the chef! First time trying the lunch menu (option for the 3 course prefix) and highly recommend! I enjoyed every bit and the wine bottle too!I was super excited to hear they currently have a chocolate soufflé - MUST ORDER!Started with the salad, my mom has the mushroom soup. I got the beef burger with lamb bacon + side of sweet potatoes fries and my mom got the chicken. We both got the chocolate soufflé (+$6 each since we were doing the prefix meal) and we shared a white wine bottle. I’d definitely come here again and hope they bring back the brunch soon.

Tour is self guided a bit short. You want to go on the tour during working hours so you can actually see the bottling and machine at work. There is a 2 ok mincha in the back of the warehouse. Wine tasting was great and appetizers were fantastic. Sweet potato fries were the best. The restaurant is separate from the wine tasting and is delicious too. They had a prefixed menus when we were there.

This is my first trip to California from New York... so I might have been a little drunk because of the drive up RT 1 the pacific cost highway from LA to the restaurant during sunset which was mountains on the right and the ocean on the left breathtaking. Then you get to a commercial center very quiet and desolate didnt think much of the area. Then you walk into this foyer with 30ft ceilings and one of the coolest wine racks Ive ever seen. Now starts the experience we were greeted ‏by a lovely woman that was extremely friendly and smiley, whom showed us to our table. Then started the culinary experience of a lifetime a four-course meal and matching Herzog wines to every course. Waiters and Busboys waiting on you hand and foot. Vegetables were extremely crispy and fresh fish and steak were perfectly cooked.....off the charts good a macys fireworks explosion of taste in every bite. And then dessert with a matching wine. This is an experience you cant pass up.....

Tierra Sur is a top-notch, all Kosher restaurant (non-dairy) located in the Herzog Wine Winery in Oxnard, CA. There’s just about nothing else like it in the area and one can see why it would also be a destination for those in Los Angeles seeking a fine dining and also certified Kosher experience.They do have some vegetarian options, though glancing through the menu with that as my focus, it clearly wasn’t their main intention, and the menu does change seasonally – so some of what I had in July is not currently available at this December writing.Of course, since you’re at a winery, you might as well start with wine. Our table shared the Camouflage Red Blend. This was one of the most satisfying glasses of wine I have ever had. I’m certainly not a wine expert, but I’ve had enough to at least know whether or not I like it…I liked this a lot. I’m rarely moved to buy wine as the result of having it at a restaurant. In this rare occasion, the Herzog Camouflage Red has entered my permanent list of “buy this wine.”For my main, I had the Veggie Pizzetta. (a version with veal is what’s available on the menu as of this writing.) For a non-dairy pizza this wasn’t bad. Points for effort…but as firm believer in the power of cheese, this was not my favorite dish in the world.I also had a side of their “Potato Fries.” I’m also a firm believer in the potential of french fries, and there was something about them putting the word “potato” right in the name that inspired me to order them. These were super super good. Perfectly cooked, perfectly thick, perfectly tasty fries that I didn’t want to share with anyone (err, though I did.)A couple of odd choices for my meal, but this was brunch time and I tend to eat lighter earlier in the day, especially with the absence of brunch foods on the menu. Thy also offer house-made pastas, a pumpkin fritter is currently on the menu, sweet potato fries, and a Squash-Apple Soup round out the vegetalrian options I can see currently available.So if I had to do it again (and I would), I’d come back for dinner and have the more hearty pasta dish and more tapas.All in all this was a VERY nice restaurant with impeccable service and the extra bonus of being able to walk up the stars and view the wine cellars was pretty cool.

Nesteled in the middle of Oxnard, Tierra Sur at Herzog Winery was truly an amazing experience to the kosher palate.We ordered everything on the appetizer menu with the pate standing out as truly extraordinary. The special of the night were these tempura sweat breads with this fried lemon a truly fantastic combination.By the time me we got to our steak we were stuffed to the gills, that did not mean that we still managed to slice off a few pieces of this grilled to perfection materpiece.After that we could go no more and had to skip desert, which was indeed a shame.

Had a very special experience at the Herzog Winery. The only downside is the drive from Los Angeles, took about 1.15 hrs. We did the tasting before the meal. Costs $14 for the tasting or if you buy a bottle of wine its free. We went around brunch time. A couple things were not availble from the menu. But overall they give very fair portions and price is considerably fair. We drank at the winery and took and uber to the Camarillo outlets which is only 10 minutes away. Was a cool experience!

Favorite Kosher Restaurant and one of the best wineries in SoCal. The nicest staff as well. The true hidden gem in trips from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara. A tasting will now be $25 a person as of November 2022. The seasonal bar menu is always great. Dont forget to order some fries for $12. Also, amazing Lactose free menu!

We were so excited to go and check this place out! We made table reservation for Monday evening. Warm welcome. Nice table for 11 people. Warm lights and nice interior. Very good verity of wines. We shared the Rashi Black which was excellent.We ordered a selection of the first course and it was delicious and a larg portion. We also ordered 8 ribeye steaks and that was our biggest disappointment. The steaks werent served at the level of doneness we ordered and some were served also cold. I ordered mine medium but it was served burnt from the outside and well done on the inside as you can see in the pictures. I asked to replace my steak but the waiter refused and argue with me that the steak is medium.I understand its hard to serve a group of 11, but from a $$$ non negotiable tip establishment I was expecting an exquisite taste and received a bland experience.

Plenty of free parking, no valet.Inside the building is a nice interior with tall ceilings surrounded by walls decorated with wine bottles.Came here with friends and each got the $89 all you can eat buffet, which included various salads, fish, chicken and meat, including soups and desserts. Does not include wine but must be bought separately or at the wine tasting.I think $89 is too much. The food was good but they can improve on the overall quality of the foods.Waitet service was great and on point.Soft drinks and teas are included.The wine tasting was the best experience, its in a separate room where a waiter pours for you 8 various wines ranging from $10-50.To try this its only $10, or buy a wine bottle from the stock.Try the wine tasting before you eat!Overall nice experience, will come back again.Ooh and dont forget to see the winery either by self tour or guided.Enjoy! Went just to try this place as it was serving branch, the atmosphere and service were up to the price we were charged for the branch however be aware that service charge of 22% is included in the check and then taxes charged on top of your meal, drink, and tip. Manager was reasonbly nice but insisted that this is the state law to charge tax on tap of your tip which you cannot change either. If you are ready to spend almost double price on the meal (tiny variety), nice atmosphere and good service this is the place to go. Wine selection is great, and reasonbly priced.

Hubby and I had the most phenomenal experience last night, I had to share!We started with apps and a wine flight at the tasting bar where Kristen treated us like gold and remembered my husbands name(!!), despite us not having been there in quite a while. The Fish and chips was outstanding, and perfectly crunchy.We then moved to the MDR, and shared the Mushroom Bisque and the duck special, both of which were delicious, and the duck in particular. Since we were celebrating my husbands birthday, we splurged and also shared the Bison Ribeye. WOW. While it was cooked beyond our requested medium rare, it was one of the best steaks weve had in a kosher restaurant in many years.Knowing we were there for a celebration, they took extra care of us with delicious desserts, too.We were thrilled to learn there is both a new menu and a new Culinary team, which ON FIRE, and our meal was truly far more delicious than weve had there in a long while. The service impeccable, as it generally is.The only constructive feedback I have is, the MDR is dated and in need of a face-lift. With that done well, Tierra Sur rivals any hip restaurant in LA!

Once again I went to the restaurant at the Herzog winery. I really tried to like it, it’s supposed to be one of the most gourmet and upscale kosher eateries in the nation, certainly in CaliforniaI live nearby less than an hour. Of red and white winesI’m sure the sponsor paid a lot of money per person for this partyMy wife and i chose the steak and my sister who sat next to me chiae the chickenBoth mine and my wife’s steak were barely edible certainly not tasty at all. Had I been the one paying I would’ve returned it immediately but I didn’t want to embarrass the hostI’m addition the steak came with only the following on the side a tablespoon of spinach.My sister didn’t finish her chicken So I asked her for a piece and it was edible but bland and that’s it. it was better than the steak but…..Dessert was a choice ofChurros or flourless chocolate cake. I chose the churros and they arrived too overdone and almost burntSorry to say the eating experience was dismal and once again I walked away shaking my head as to why people rave about this place. I avoid it.The portions are not generous. The prices high. . In a restaurant that only has 10 items on the menu, I find it unprofessional that they have run out of two of the menu items by 7:00PM. I also find it ridiculous that the kitchen will make certain items for the “tasting room” but will not allow those items to be served at dinner (which is the same time), even though several of the items on the menu are unavailable.With regards to our backup options that we did order, the food was pretty good but underwhelming. Probably one of the absolute finest restaurants in the country. With local farm to table ingredients, an array of menu choices, and bursting with flavor dishes plus wines. Servers were attentive, efficient and well versed in all areas of menu details, ingredients and wines. This is a world class kosher restaurant!Having read some raving reviews, I came with high expectations. I was not disappointed in the least.The menu is based on a prix fixe table dhote model, with several choices for each course, but they have an a la Carte option for anything on the menu.We chose appetizers and entrees and everything we had was excellent!The service was outstanding; Joel described the dishes and made superb recommendations.He even introduced me to an excellent house red, that tasted way above its price point. (unfortunately, can only be purchased at the winery)This is well worth the beautiful drive up the Pacific Coastal Highway, and I hope to visit again.

This place is amazing!! First off the ambiance was perfect for a calm and relaxed dinner. Our server, Jerry, was very courteous and informative. We had a wine pairing with all of our courses, and he definitely knew what he was talking about with every single one of them.Then comes the food itself! **chefs kiss** You can definitely taste the love, effort, and time put on every single bite of my meal. The food itself is so enjoyable, it does not allow for you to rush through the greatness of it all. This was disappointing. I have been there about 10 times and its always been fine. But this time, they had only a fixed price menu with very few options, and the only beef option was a steak which was an additional $18 over the other more modest options. The meal did not include any side dishes. There was not even bread service, which surprised me for a bill that came to $250 for two people. Not once did any waiter or other staff member come by to check on us. The food was good, but I dont think Im going back until they offer a regular menu.

This is what is meant by fine dining. Other restaurants, kosher and non alike, can take a lesson. This winery is NOT a vineyard so dont make that mistake, but it is a lovely restaurant with a lovely tasting room and a well appointed dining room.I recommend beginning in the tasting room with a selection of wines. They also have a menu of delicious tapas that are not as refined as the dinner menu, but also are not meant to be. They are fun plays on classic foods that are executed perfectly. If make specific recommendations but, wonderfully, the menu changes regularly!Ive never visited for lunch, but Ive been here many times for dinner and it always impresses me. The service is outstanding, the proteins are cooked perfectly, their charcuterie is absolutely fantastic and interesting.This is a place where you get the chance to sample high quality ingredients, composed in fluid and interesting ways. I love it here and will be back. Im going to make another reservation. . . Yeah, right about now.

I came for a visit from Phoenix. I was told by a number of people to visit this particular restaurant. The executive chef Gabe who I met is an amazing personality with an exceptional love for what he does, which is Cleary Seen in the quality and beauty of the dishes. Due to mutual friend Gabe had given us additional two appetizers and two desserts besides for what we ordered. That was the best of everything we had.Servers were quick and on top of their game, very attentive.Dont think twice. Gabe and his team are a leading example in the kosher industry.

I heard amazing reviews about this place an unfortunately I cannot say the same. I spent over $200 (single guest) and tried all the appetizers and two entrees. They had this gelled stuff which honestly tasted like vomit. There plating skills for there entrees consisted of a steak plopped in strings beans. The steak tasted like lighter fluid.Probably the worst experience ever. Wine is good though.

The service is great the people are politeThey all the time fill your cups with the weather.But their price is very high for example one stack is anywhere between 48 to 70 something.We were waiting about 20 minutes for getting the stakes and when it came was cook exactly like we wanted but it was salty we could not eat it so we needed to wait another 20 minutes for another one to come.The dishes are really small when you get in a steak you get with it tree minion gold potatoes that theyre cutting a half and they put the steak on it.Few leafs on the top of it. There hes no side order.We took also another plate I think it was Panini mushroom they giving four pieces with it.The other steak that came was delicious but when you waiting 40 minutes all together you dont like it.Also I dont recommend their iced tea you cannot drink it its too bitter the waiters and manager so that we didnt touch it but they didnt ask anything on it.

A dinner to remember and worth every penny! Steak grilled to perfection in the wood burning stove. Romantic ambience, limited seating means you get personal attention from the wait staff. In my opinion, probably the finest kosher restaurant in the US. Chef Aarons is simply outstanding. I cannot speak highly enough about this restaurant, the food the ambiance and the service is nothing short of superb. You must ask for some lamb bacon even if it doesnt appear on the menu. I do recommend the wine tasting menu, as you will get perfectly paired wines with each course. The restaurant is now under the leadership of Chef Gabe Garcia, and still earns the 5 stars

You can shop nearby all you want, then go to Tierra Sur where they have tours of their Wine Cellars, and then eat the best made meal in a wonderful surrounding together of course with their great wines. . I love to go here for special occasions with special people. They also have a nice shop inside. You may need to book for the restaurant as they are very popular. They have a number of events at the winery and in other places through out the year.

Delicious food and excellent wine. It is expensive to dine here, but unlike many places, totally worth it! This Chicken Redifined good chicken. Something I’d definitely order again.One last thing, Never skip dessert. We got the baked Alaska, and a sort of fruit cup. Such a wonderful way to end the night. They dont give you a free dessert for your birthday, but if you order a dessert, they bring it out with a candle in a cork on a separate plate.
