Service is always fast here. We were seated quickly upon arrival. They bring out 4 banchan dishes right away. The waiter took our orders and brought out our dishes soon after. They only give you one free egg per dish.We both liked our seafood tofu soups with the nutty black rice and banchan vegetables.They closes early at 8pm.

Returnrd here with my wife for a late lunch on a Saturday. It was not busy and we were seated right away. We were serviced quickly, getting our food and drink order. We got our banchan, which most were tasty; the kimchi lacked flavor. We ordered hot stonepot bulbogi crispy rice and japchae. Both were good; a little lighter on flavor than the previous time. The environment was clean. They had some pop music playing overhead, but again loud enough that you could still have a conversation. We would come back again.

First time at Tofu House but don’t think I will go back again.Food is just OK, edible. The hot tofu soup looks like just water a few bite. I can make better tofu soup at home, haha.Not much of service. I don’t consider taking the order and bring food to the table as good service. That is just the bare minimum service.Nothing is free there. Water is bottle water which costs $0.50. They would bring to the table 2 eggs without telling the customer that one is only allows one egg per hot tofu pot. The other egg is $1 extra.They would also bring your check with just a total amount without itemizing. Terrible!

Food portion is small and the taste is plain…they are not tasty or rich in flavors. Its not worth a 2nd visit. The meat is not fresh like outdated/expired food. 17 bucks for the soup itself and 20 buck for the meat. Kind of $$$ for the amount provided.

Nothing fancy, just a nice casual restaurant. But the bibimbap was excellent! The stone was nice hot making the rice crispy. This is the first time I experience where they bring you a fresh raw egg so you can add it to the dish yourself. Nice!

We ordered tofu soup and hot pot with brown rice. 2 raw eggs were served on side with side dishes of radish kimchi, cabbage kimchi, cucumber kimchi, and fish cakes. Tofu was silky soft and spicy, hot pot had smoky flavor. Giving one star less for menu, I would like to see ramen and tatboki in the menu. Ordered soju and beer and made samek. Delicious

I get bibimbap cravings from time to time so i am always searching for the best place to fix it!Tofu House in Mira Mesa satisfies that. Probably the best thing about this place is the parking situation. Compared to practically anything in Convoy, Tofu House has its own parking lot. went on a Monday at 7 pm and ample free parking.Food itself was average but came out quickly.

Food was okay. I ordered the kimchi soup with beef and pork and other entree. There was barely any meat at all in my soup and the favor was very bland. I was very disappointed and the atmosphere was sad . Definitely not worth the price we paid. Customer service was okay. Definitely not coming back.

WORST SERVICE EVER! Never go here unless you want to be treated like you owe them something. We used to go here regularly. Today we were given an option to either sit by the exit where it’s cold or at a two-person table while it’s three of us. Maybe they thought that toddlers can be treated as half a human lol. Anyway, the host had no intention to accommodate us stating that all other tables are reserved (but they don’t even take reservations lol). And the restaurant is half-empty (see pics). Keep doing what you’re doing and it will be (deservedly) even emptier.

Staple tofu house in the nearby Mira Mesa area. Used to be my go to with unlimited eggs and free lemonade beverages on the way, but the pandemic and inflation has definitely stripped away a lot of its original luster. Still good food tho

The service is great here, but this is NOT good Korean food. I doubt the owner is Korean, and if they are, they need a major cooking lesson on Korean food. The tofu soup flavor was awful; tasted like hot water with red food coloring. The bulgogi (beef) flavor was terrible. You cant call it bulgogi. It was basically beef with a few sliced onions and no seasoning (again, NOT bulgogi). Even the side dishes were horrible. If you want good or even decent Korean food, this is NOT the place to go.

The heater outside the door, nice~There is a huge menu on the wall, so you can take order right after you get seated, because when wait outside of the line you cant help but read them all and decided which dish you interested.Unlimited free raw eggs on the table, wow~ how authentic!I ordered two tofu soups, with all the free side dishes and rice. Their soup doesnt tastes so plain which are most Korean tofu places does. They truly taste like the thick broth that takes hours to boil! I like it!I just spent 20 bucks with all the food that we got, good for all the students and working individuals who are looking for the authentic Asian food that value the most.Tofu House, I love ya, Ill see you next time!

The food was Okey.. nothing special about it, we ordered seafood tofu soup but there was not much seafood in there but a lots lots of tofu inside the bowl. People that work here do not know what customers service is. Only one waiter that work for all customers orders. So, dont be surprise if he left you suddenly while taking your orders.

My moms very happy about the rice. Its large portion for the price (11$) A lot of meat and rice and you can add eggs and sauces to it. But the combo is meh... I got the seafood tofu soup and the bulgogi combo? But the meat is seriously burnt..... Would not recommend. The soup was alright. A bit too bland for level 7 of spiciness. The tofu soup I got at Mana bbq had richer flavor lol. For the cheap price I would say this is a place to get smth quick and tasty when I dont feel like to cook, and if I live close by.

Despite the name of the place, dont miss their Hot Stone Bowls.Ordered the Bulgogi Hot Stone Bowl with brown rice (its actually purple and with a $1 upcharge) and it came out great as always. I think its because both the chef and the manager were both trained at the original restaurant on Convoy, where we used to go before the Mira Mesa branch opened. The tofu dishes are super too (as befits the name), but having tried many other local restaurants in my opinion there isnt a better place to enjoy Korean hot stone bowls.BTW if you like the rice crispy but not burned I tend to leave the rice cooking undisturbed for about 2 mins after it lands on the table.The pic is taken after I added both the red and brown sauces (I like both), a couple eggs from the table, and was just before I stirred it all together.

Date of visit: 3/2/2015Cam picked me up from work and we decided to grab an early dinner. Weve gone to the Convoy location before, so I warned Cam that it would be the same experience more or less, just a dollar extra. He said that the price difference makes sense since the space is bigger and location is difference.Emy: Bulgogi Boiled Tofu - no mushrooms, spicy. Since they forgot my spice with the plain boiled tofu last time, I decided to go with the bulgogi tofu as Scotty really enjoyed it. I was pleased to see that my tofu came out spicy and and was boiling hot (as always). I also decided to crack an egg into my soup and swirl it around.Cam: Bulgogi Boild Tofu, no spicy. Cam does not have a high spice tolerance, so he was happy to get his tofu without spice. The hotness for Cam came from the actual heat of the dish as he inevitably burned his tongue. He cracked two eggs into his soup, but instead of swirling them around, he let them sit. After the eggs cooked, he was happy to have egg chunks in his soup rather than egg mush.We got to Tofu House around 5:30pm. There were not many other customers, so the service was pretty fast and we were able to have our waters refilled twice. I also asked for a box, which ended up leaking, so they gave be a plastic bag too.Overall, Im a fan of Tofu House as Im accustomed to the type of service to expect, but I can see where some people would be disgruntled. This time, we also got large portions of the side dishes, so I was a happy camper.

I chose the (B1) Bulgogi combo with chefs special for $23 while my good friend had a (H1) Bulgogi hot stone combo also for $23, both mild spiciness (couldnt even feel it). I tried some the hot stone and I love the crunchy rice texture. Careful though, its stays hot for a long time. Super good and easier to park at than that of Convoy. Theres also a Somi Somi nearby to cool off. The service was nice and they ask if were enjoying our food often, really easy to ask for napkins and what not.Tbh Im not too excited about the atmosphere since there wasnt much other than a printed menu on the wall and a sign that says My blood type: IPA.

Tofu House is suitable for the cooler months because their tofu stone pot is great at warming you up. The stone meat party is also a good choice but you have to make sure to keep mixing it so that the rice doesnt burn. You can add an egg to either dish and it will cook through since its super hot. Ive also had the bulgogi dish which isnt quality meat but its just ok.

Our first time at this location, we are longtime fans of the Convoy restaurant so it was interesting to see the differences. Consistent are the relatively few side dishes for a Korean restaurant, though MM brought out two sets for our party of four; snappy service; water is not free; and clean, comfortable setting. For a sit-down, they want you in and out pretty quick, it seems, but at least that means you get your food without having to wait.In general, their spicy tofu soups and hot stone rice bowls are always good, but MM seems to only fill the bowls up about halfway. Also, we ordered the japchae to share and were incredibly disappointed by what we got for $14. A flavorless spoonful of sticky, overcooked noodles that were thinner and more unsubstantial than Ive ever seen, some unrecognizable vegetables with no taste, and a few scraps of meat that looked like leftovers. The overall dish would not even have been enough for one person (and we are not big eaters!) and was priced triple what it should have been. Oh well...We left quite satisfied, but feeling a bit ripped off. We will stick to Convoy from now on.

Terrible food. Never had bulgogi this bad before. It’s not seared correctly and under-seasoned. Hmart’s meat are better than this. Tofu soup was average. Side dishes were extremely salty and looked like they were old. They don’t even give you free water 🙄 water is charged by the bottle. Will not come back here and will not recommend anyone to come here.

I live less than 10 mins from this location but I often go to the Tofu House in Convoy since this location closes so early and I have a busy schedule.Food always comes out fast and service is great! Just wish I wasnt charged for water and they stayed open later. Ill definitely be back.

Nothing spectacular about it anymore! The main attraction was the basket of eggs. I went back after several years and there us no basket of eggs anymore. Only one very small egg comes with Houston dish. The prices naturly have gone up and they charge $1 for the 2nd egg. The taste was not anything special. I dont recall bones in the meat party, now there are a few which w the low light is very risky if you dont know and can be too costly! With no special flavor to the dish at $19, I will not ever go back. And they were not polite to an elderly couple and another person who were seated (3 people) waiting for 4th, loudly a young waitress shouted at them that they cannot be seated and wait... even if so, how about nicely asking?!

I echo other reviews that this restaurant really had below average service. And you would also need to pay attention to the charges put on your bills. I ordered boiled port tofu as well as meat party stone crispy rice. The boiled tofu was not bad but the meat party hot stone rice tasted terribly. The meat was almost disgusting. Will I return? No, but maybe I will try Tofu House at a different location next time (for hopefully a better service and food).

Tofu house has been a staple for me and my family for years but the pandemic and inflation have impacted the quality of the food in noticeable ways. First the menu has shrunk considerably. Bbq pork and chicken are no longer offered. The side dishes have shrunk in size and are more preserved looking which is silly to say since its all preserved. Prices are up which would be fine if the meat quality didnt go down. The flavors are still there but the texture and meat quality are down. Perks like the self-serve punch is gone and now they charge for water. Extra eggs are no longer free. The place is in need of reinvention or might really lose out to the competition.

I am from Korea and I know what authentic Korean food should taste like. I visited this place because it seemed to have decent reviews. And yet, I was literally shocked by how dirty the food was prepared (a few bites/teeth marks already made upon serving - REALLY??, not to mention its weird taste (are they trying fusion? well, definitely not Korean food, I say). The waitress there gave a very poor service. Her frowny face says it all.I would never recommend this restaurant if you care for good quality food/service.

Went here for the first time with some friends on a Sunday, it was busy. Id definitely visit again and recommend it.Food was great but the portions were off, my friend ordered the same crispy rice dish and got more meat.They also seem to of forgot one of our side dishes until we reminded them of it, also looked short staffed so thats most likely why they forgot.

My gripe, and why Ive given 3 stars, is because they charge you $1.50 for a bottle of water and have no free alternative. In other words, if you come here, youre paying for water in a restaurant. Now when we go, I bring my own water contigo/water bottle and they seem to have no problem with it. I just feel as though its a bit of a dishonest business model to have no free water in a restaurant. Ive spoken to friends and neighbors and many feel the same way.

My wife and I love Korean food, so we wanna find out if Tofu House in Mira Mesa was good, since the one on Convoy was disappointed. It was a Saturday around 1:00 was pretty busy, when we walked in and saw it we both thought it might be good because of the packed house and are surprised that there’s only one waitress and one other man bringing out the food. We ordered and the food came out in about 3-4 mins to our surprised. Let me tell you the food didn’t look that appetizing and the taste was was even worst. It seem like everything was pre cooked and and set aside to serve. It tasted more like a fast food chain rather than a restaurant, what happened to the quality of Tofu House, it seems they just cook just to cook, I remembered back then it was very good and now no quality or flavors anymore. Would not recommend or go back there again, it’s cut off our list.

I normally wouldve given this restaurant more than 1 star because I do like their tofu soup. The reason for 1 star is because of the horrid customer service we received tonight. The girl that works at the front of the restaurant should not be working there or should not be working with customers. My significant other called in an order for 2 seafood special tofu soups and 1 beef tofu soup. We specifically ordered 3 tofu soups for the 2 of us because of their buy 2 tofu soups, get 1 free special (but you do have to pay cash; it comes out to about $24).After picking up the food, we thought the bag looked smaller than usual. When I opened the bag, I noticed one of the seafood specials was missing, so we made a u-turn to go back for our missing soup. When my significant other went inside to explain what happened, she told him she only wrote down 1 seafood special and 1 beef. It would have been fine had she apologized and told him that she would have the chef prepare our missing soup, but instead she decides to continue telling him she only wrote down 2 items. Who does that!? It wouldve been such an easy fix!I truly hope management at least has a serious chat with her because after tonight Im not sure my significant other will ever want to return.

Open for indoor dining as of 09/10/2020. Classic place to get some good meat, bibimbap, or soup. I can definitely recommend any cut of meat, from the bulgogi to the galbi to the meat party. Any stone pot or tofu is good, although Id recommend ordering not stone pot or tofu combo if you want a lot of meat. Their japchae is also good. The service is quick, the staff is curt but polite,and their assortment of bonchon is good, and you can just ask for more if you eat it all. Plenty of tables that usually fit 2 people, plus a decent amount of tables that can fit 4 or more people. All of them are spaced far apart.

The only waiter working acted like he didnt want to be there at all.The worst part was that the BBQ ribs were burned and the tofu soup tasted very bland.Im all for supporting businesses in these tough times and we all work hard for our money. This place is absolutely delicious. It doesnt look like much on the outside, but man the food is amazing. Dont mind the simple decor, the food here should be at a high end restaurant. The first time I ate here, I had no idea what was going on, when they brought out the hot stone I was totally surprised and very excited. Great place to eat healthy food, and bring company or family. Good selection of dishes and reasonable prices. Mine, Tofu soup, different meat dishes, come boiling hot where an egg can be added. Cost for dinner was about $17.00. Offer soft drinks, some Asian alcohol similar to rice beer. Good table service. Brought food home I couldnt finish. Good portions. My friend and I were looking for a Korean restaurant. We went to Shozen & Manpo, but they didn’t open for Sunday lunch. So we chose here. This place has a simple menu and it was kinda popular with a good amount of people there. The table setting was nice, with a good distance from each other. The foods were fine, they were good but too sweet. I don’t know why they put that much sugar in every dish that we ordered, especially the japche. The other dish we ordered was bulgogi stone rice, it’s good, but still the bulgogi is super sweet. The service was kinda a little slow. Overall, the place is fine, but not my favorite.

Ive been here a couple times and it is my daughters favorite place but last time I went wasnt so great. It was a Saturday late around 9pm and I ordered a bulgogi. Tofu House was a very pleasant surprise for me. I went on a weekend for lunch and did not have to wait. Almost all the customers were Asian, so you know it is quality food. Delicious comfort food. Parking can be problematic during busier hours but never more than a block away. Their soups are delicious. My coworker and I would frequent here after a long day as we both found this food comforting for our soul and palate. Expect a savory meal. Their beer selections are limited but they have lots of affordable options of meals to chose from. Sizzling bulgogi, hot stone rice bowls, and everything comes out to you piping hot and literally boiling. Its rare to find a place where you can get full from a sit down restaurant for less than $15.

I had previously given this 5 stars but now I have to take it back. I loved heir vegetarian fried rice and have been ordering it for 3 years. Since the past few months though their fried rice sucks. I ordered a few months ago and it was bad but I thought it was just a one time thing. I recently ordered it again when I was out with friends and man was it BAD. Food here is great. My favorite dish is the meat party in the hot bowl thingy. I enjoy cracking eggs into it. If you do decide to get the hot bowl, dont forget to mix your food otherwise the rice will burn at the bottom. Seating is nice and decor is minimal with lots of windows. I wished the water cups were a little larger because the waiters take a.while to come around to refill water.

Tastes about the same as the Tofu House on Convoy but parking is much better. I would give this place 4 stars but the service is very slow. We waited 30 minutes to order and asked a total of 3 times. Its still a new place so Ill be fair and try again later to see if it improves.I like the free eggs they provide on the tables but Im not sure how sanitary it is to have eggs sitting out at room temperature. The as you wish tofu stew I ordered had canned white mushrooms were used, the shitake mushrooms had an odd taste, the vegetables that they provide just dont seem like the same quality Im used to. My friend and I shared the bulgogi which the flavor was off like old meat. The food was great but.... the waiters are ruining the rating. They are not friendly, nor helpful. We asked the waiter to serve us while she was ignorantly talking to the other waiter. Once we did it again, she saw us, and just left to a different table knowing that we were asking for her help! She and the other waiters ignored us almost all the time! We accidentally spilled a little cup of juice, and meanwhile, when the waiters saw it, they didn’t do anything! They just stood there and then left without saying anything... nobody even offered us help, or brought a napkin. Afterwards, all the food was brought to us with a tired, irritated face. Started going here a few months ago and have been 6-7 times since then. My girlfriend and I basically always get the bulgogi crispy rice bowl, which is basically a bowl straight out of an oven which they put rice, corn, carrots, meat, etc. in and serve to you. They give you a basket of eggs you can crack into your food and let it cook in (the bowl is that hot!). I really like the food and want to branch out into some of their other food sometime.For those curious, they dont just sell tofu here. A large section of their menu is boiling tofu and other dishes with tofu, but they probably have even more dishes without tofu than with it. I know when I bring friends here they sometimes are hesitant and say they dont like tofu. If you dont like tofu, there are other things here you can eat.

I would normally welcome a huge upgrade but not this time.Tofu house is the same tofu house that is on Convoy, the one next to OBriens pub. Yeah, that one.Well, this location had promise to perform as well as the other one but something just fell apart. The base was overly salty and lacked flavor (other than salt). The wait when I went was really long and for some reason, they had very few servers. I get it, the restaurant is small, but ONE more server would have made the service warrant a 3 star instead of a 1 star.Theres really not much more to say. I wish I could say more but I cant. Every time we go to San Diego (from Miami) we go to this oddly named Korean restaurant. They specialize in dishes like hot stone rice, or boiled tofu which are served on/in extremely hot dishes and allow for further cooking at the table. Boiled tofu is a misleading since you can get this dish with all kinds of other ingredients. The tofu is only a base ingredient, and boiled means very hot and liquid soup like consistency. Every dish weve had here multiple times has been delicious. We need a Tofu House in Miami! PS. We used to go to the one in Convoy, but the parking there is brutal....

Its not just Tofu!! The hot stone bowl meat party is awesome! Dont forget to Crack a couple eggs into it!
