Amazing authentic home made halal Indonesian food.You cant find restaurants like this in other cities.Ask the chef for the recommendations. I ordered the rice dish that he recommended (similar to nasi goreng I just forget the name) and it was heavenly.The beef skewer and the dessert (Cendol) were so good too!Id definitely be back

After being told about it from friends, new customers at that time will be so delighted by their meals that they will tell others. Very good traditional home style Indonesian cuisine. The Sotos (soups) are delicious.Noodles are always good. Everything is fresh and made to order... so sometimes it’s a little slow.Always worth the short wait for traditionally prepared and delicious Indonesian comfort food.

This place has a very authentic feel and an extensive menu. I am not very familiar with Indonesian food, so I ordered their combination sampler, which comes with five different options wrapped in a big banana(?) leaf. I enjoyed everything, especially the beef rendang and curry. The iced tea was also surprisingly delicious! I cant wait to come back and try everything else on their menu!

Its mom n pops restaurant...nothing fancy but the food was pretty good. We had Martabak as appetizer and it was really good. For the entree we had Nasi Bungkus and Satay, both were tasty. I also had Cendol (kinda like bubble tea but different stuff) after eating and it was ok. Service was good and friendly but a little slow for the food to come out.

Get nasi bungkus when you come here.. I have never found an indonesian restaurant in us that knows how to make rendang padang. But this restaurant knows how to. It is dried and tasty.. also get es cendol it is soooo good. Everything is good.. the only cons i have probably the 2% charge if you use credit card. It seems a biy high. But worth it.

Toko Rame is a special restaurant. My brother and I were blown away by the food and drinks that were offered by the owner and owner son. (Amazing people and very nice!)I have been to many 5 star restaurants in my 31 years of life and Toko Rame is leagues ahead of cuisine. You can tell they have passion in what they make. By far one of the best tasting food both my brother and I have ever had. Thank you again for the amazing experience!

I have been coming here for years and cant believe that I am the first to review it. The food is fresh and good and the service is always friendly. Quite often I call in my lunch order and it is ready for me within a few minutes of arriving. As far as I know, this is the only true Indonesian restaurant (not fusion) for many miles around. It is just off the Artesia Freeway at Bellflower, so it is easy to get in and out. If you have never eaten Indonesian food, give Toko Rame a try.

First off, I am Indonesian. Coming to this place and tasting their Soto Padang, es Doger, Siomay Bandung, I am instantly reminded of the flavors of my youth. The taste and flavors are authentic, its like they bring a piece of Indonesia to a little corner of Los Angeles.Their Nasi Bungkus is so rich and flavorful and have I mentioned how AMAZING their es Tape Doger is?This unassuming place has little decor but man, their kitchen packs a punch.I love this place, please be around forever ok thx

I lived in Indonesia for a good chunk of the late 1990s, and in the LA area ever since. There have always been a number of Indonesian restaurants in Southern California, but despite the fact that I absolutely love almost all Indonesian regional cuisines, Ive never eaten at many of the spots here. I just wasnt impressed with most of them, which was disappointing. However, after my visit to Toko Rame today, I think Ill be eating a lot more masakan Indonesia!I came here for a late lunch, and ordered the nasi bungkus. Unfortunately due to the relatively late hour, they were out of daging rendang, which I really love, but the very nice proprietor (Ill have to get her name next time) offered to replace it with an extra piece of fried chicken or some oxtail. I love fried chicken, so I went with the former option. Everything in the bungkus was great, but I particularly liked the balado style egg (a hard boiled egg, sauteed which gives it a bit of a skin, and then simmered in a spicy red sambal - a really basic and common snack in Indonesia, and one I really like), which was done really well. There were also some potatoes, a veggie curry, and the aforementioned fried chicken, which was done perfectly - not dried out and not greasy. I also ordered the house special bihun, which I have not actually tried yet, but it looks and smells incredible so Im pretty excited about my dinner.If it werent for the relatively dreary 60 degree day outside, I would have felt like I could be sitting in a good quality warung anywhere in Indonesia. The woman running the place was warm and welcoming, and the food was wonderful, so even though it is a bit out of the way for me, I have a feeling Im going to be back here pretty regularly. I strongly recommend it.

One of the most authentic Indonesian food I can find in California. They also serve halal food which means no pork products. One of my favorites is Nasi bungkus. Its a rice dish served with varieties of side dish wrapped in some leaf. The result is a very aromatic rice dish. So delicious. The only drawback is that sometime they will close without notice, so its best to call ahead before coming. If you want, you can order first and the food will be ready when you arrive. A must try.

Met up with a bunch of friends for my first Indonesian food excursion. We came in on a Thursday night and we were pretty much the only people there; I guess this place is more of a lunch joint. Its not much, atmosphere-wise--its small with well-worn furniture. With the two ladies there it sort of felt like we were visiting an Indonesian aunties house, which I guess is pretty much what it was. Anyway, once we were all situated we decided to get an order of their fish cakes and chicken sate as appetizers, which turned out to be very tasty. For my main item I got their most popular combo #17 (Nasi Bungkus?) which I figured would be a good way to get my feet wet. Its a whole meal wrapped up in a banana leaf, complete with chicken leg, beef rendang, and an assortment of other items. I thought it was delicious and was able to finish about 70% of it, as the portion was quite generous; I took home the rest, banana leaf and all, and it was just as good reheated the next day! We all enjoyed our food and had a pleasant time all the way around. For dessert I got a tall glass of Es Teler--a type of fruit cocktail with Avocado, coconut meat, jackfruit and some other stuff I dont know but were good! It was a great introduction to Indonesian food and Im looking forward to my next visit.

Great Indonesian cuisine, the siomay bandung were very good, and gado gado with generous portion and taste much better compared to some other Indonesian restaurant in the region. parking space might be somewhat challenging to find, being so close right next to a freeway. wished they sells more ready to serve snacks, peanuts, etc on display case. pricing on menus are quite reasonable. highly recommended.

I loved the Nasi Bungkus. I finally found a place that have food to remind me of Jakarta. I didnt care for the flavor of the Bihun special as much, but I really like that they have fried egg with it and include lots of veggies. The beef rendang is so good, and the fried chicken was succulent. Well done, chef! This will go on my list of favs.

This is THE most authentic Indonesian place in Los Angeles. There are not many of them and Ive tried em all. The empal gepuk gorang and soto ayam is good. They have an extensive menu. The owners are nice. Good indonesian food should be available in more places than it is because its great. There are places in Jakarta that thrive on selling one thing, like goat soup, so delectable and so perfect that its only open 5 hours a day and is packed solid. Toko may be trying to make too many things, but they do a good job. Advice is to get famous on two or three really really good items and promote them. Bottom line, I will eat at this place many many times. I drive 2 hours to get to it. When you need Indonesian food, you just do it. Knotts Berry Farm is pretty close to this place so make it a day.

The exotic smell of Indonesian food.Toko Rame has been bookmarked by me for, well, since the Lakers were a championship team. THAT long! ;p I live close, yet I just havent made my way here. Not only that, but Ive never had Indonesian cuisine as well. So, along with my friend, Stephen, and his girlfriend, we tucked our culinary passports into our pockets and saw just what Indonesian food has to offer.Nasi bungkus-The most popular Indonesian dish. Hardboiled egg, beef rendang, fried chicken, vegetable curry on top of rice w/ chili, all wrapped up in banana leaves. This is like the Indo kitchen sink - a lil bit of everything all in one. This was hearty, spicy and just plain good. A must try!Beef embal-I believe this was fried beef. I found it to be rather tough. The sweet chili sauce that accompanied it was pleasant, though.Lamb curry-Fantastic! Tender, juicy lamb with fat left untrimmed. Im a huge lamb fan and this was a winner!Our dessertEs Shanghai-The server said that this like the Pilipino dessert, halo-halo. Es Shanghai consists of crushed ice, red bean, coconut, jackfruit and syrup in milk. The server said they use a special sauce. My tastebuds were saying, I think I detect Strawberry Quik. Es Shanghai was sweet, cold and refreshing, but not in halo-halos league. Pilipinos represent! ;pSeating is very minimal, not very conducive to large parties. There is a TV for diners viewing pleasure, but it wasnt on while I was dining there.Service was friendly and prompt. Most food items are made to order, so there can be a wait, but you cant really complain about food that s made fresh for you.The restaurant shares a teeny tiny parking lot with some other businesses. Street parking is available if youre poop out of luck finding a spot. The location is just north of the 91 Freeway.Toko Rame is a halal restaurant, so no pork, blood etc. I must try the beef chicharrones next time Im here.And I will be back! I immensely enjoyed my food selections, except for maybe the beef embal. A really good place to have some Indonesian food. Actually the only place in the immediate vicinity. But its all good.They have so many good things it is really quite difficult to decide what to get.One of the things that is good is a dish that consists of rice with different goodies inside that all come wrapped up in a banana leaf. Their rice dishes are also good, including the nasi goreng.Their desserts and dessert drinks are also vey delicious. I cant remember their names because they are all in indonesian.Their indonesian coffee is an absolute must have. It is prepared in a style similar to turkish coffee and it is sweetened with condensed milk. It is the perfect way to end your visit on a high note.The parking can be a little scarce at times but you can always park on the street and walk over if all else fails.I strongly recommend this place for a great and unforgettable meal.

The best nasi bungkus ever among Indonesian restaurants in California. Tell them if you need sambal/chili separated in container. In lunch, rest is busy. Avoid waiting longer by placing your orders in advance via phone. It is quite hard to find parking at lunch time.

Never ever eat here! Would leave negative stars if I could. Food was absolutely horrible. I thought the place looked super dirty. When I bit into my chicken it seemed raw on the inside.
