The sushi roll is a true work of art. It looks so eye-catching and its flavor is enchanting. The servers warmth and attentiveness make me feel well-cared for. With the appetizer and occasional friendly chat with the server, the wait time is hardly noticeable.The restaurants decor is tastefully done. Looks like it has been through recent remodeling. Its atmosphere transports me, even just for a moment, to the streets of Japan. Without a doubt, I will return again and will recommend this place to my friend.

I called in to place an order for chicken chow mein and tempura shrimp to go and received it promptly upon arrival. The food was still pleasantly warm after a 15min drive back home. The chow mein is balanced in flavor without being overly salty. I was delighted to find no signs of burned meat or noodles. The tempura shrimp was a delightful surprise. It maintained its tenderness and achieved a satisfying crispiness, making it a delightful snack as well :). The server is so considerate when packing the tempura. There is some small holes in the plastic container, allowing heat to escape and preventing condensation, which could otherwise affect the quality of the food. This thoughtful detail enhanced my takeout experience, and I truly appreciate it.

Words cannot express. My mother and I were seated and served promptly, and the food was amazing. I was happy to pay premium price for good food. If I had remembered to get the names of everyone who served us (and permission to name them publicly), I would loudly and proudly do so. Dont ask me to choose just one item as best of the best -- there is no one clear winner, its all amazing. 5/5 easy and well-earned.

The dinner boats are always a safe bet if you are not into sushi. But food is just OK. The menu is hard to read. And bring a coat to wear inside the restaurant to stay warm.

Lots of sushi rolls to choose from and they were delicious 🤤! Goyza is crispy! None of us cared for the calamari fries (either the grease or batter tasted unpleasant) The service was excellent and very friendly from the hosts to the wait staff!

Ordered a Philadelphia roll it, The rice on this roll was awful over cooked and mushy which made it have a horrible mouth feel. The roll itself had no taste wat so ever all i tasted was the soy sauce i put on it. I dont think im going to go back there are way better options out there. I would recommend another sushi place awful sushi

Very good service and excellent atmosphere. Cool climate with moderate lighting. Beautiful decor and very inviting. I had the Bento box #5 and the quality was excellent. Great cooks. Great service. Never had an empty glass. Excellent service.Portion size was very sadifing and quenched my hunger with its substance and tantalizing flavor. A very full filling experience. Still sadified hours later. A Great Place To Eat.

Overall my experience was great, Angelinas service was quick and efficient. I ordered a Chicken Teriyaki dinner with a side of California rolls. The Teriyaki dinner stayed hot throughout the entire meal due to the cast iron plate its served on (its wonderful when every bite is still as hot as the first), and the rolls were packed just right (the right amount of filling and rice in each roll creates a satisfying balance of flavors and textures). I could absolutely see myself coming back.

I ordered the Bento with sushi. I hadnt been here for awhile and I used to love it. The teriyaki was luke warmthe tempura was wrm,some piece hard on the insideThe tuna sushi wasnt edible, it was stringy,like when you cut meat against the grain.I normally would have said something......maybe they were having an off day.

While the prices have gone up, the food here always tastes delicious and has been a staple of growing up in Redding. Staff is always friendly, it never takes too long to get food even when extremely busy, and while I do miss less than 10 dollar lunch plates, I feel this is still a great option for easy-order bento boxes.

I ordered for takeout online. Went to the restaurant to pick up my food half hour later, but the waitstaff tells me its not ready yet. Waited another 45 minutes, no food ready yet. Someone who entered later than I did already had their food served. They just wasted so much of my time with the food order drama. Its not like the price was reasonable either. They charged me quite a lot but the food quality was subpar. Not recommended for being so late with food delivery.

We went to this restaurant once about two years ago. But today the wait for food was really bad. The miso soup came after 5-10 minutes but the rest of the dish took 50 minutes. We wanted to order more but they said itll take 25 minutes for two orders of the Ikura but ended up not putting the orders in because of the wait. It wasnt busy compared to a lot of the better sushi restaurants in Sacramento but food took a long time. Service by the waitress and host was GREAT!!! Sashimi also tasted fresh!!!

Amazing sushi and huge portions! Rolls are 2x the size as ones we are use to. Our waitress was Lindsey and she was super nice and the service was fast but not rushed. We got there 45min before our movie and they made sure we got out in time to make showtime. The rest of the staff was pretty nice too. I think we found our new sushi place 🫶👍👍

If Im being honest I was not impressed with the food. Nothing about the food was bad, it just seemed like everything came out of a freezer bag. We did not get the sushi, from what I understand that is the best part of the restaurant. The chicken was definitely frozen at one point. You can taste it in the food. I dont think that the food is bad, theres just nothing special about it. I might try the sushi soon and readjust just my review.

I’ve been in here multiple times and don’t see anything wrong with the restaurant, the location is nice and the staff is friendly for the most part. However upon my first time using the online ordering I was told to select a time to pick up my order, I place my order in the time that would work for me and as I’m driving to the location not 5 minutes from my scheduled pick up I get a call saying that they had hour wait for their sushi line to get my order done??? I wouldn’t have minded this if I was informed when buying online that it could take as much as an hour extra for my order to be prepared varying on time of day. But no, here I am having to call my credit card company and let them know that I could not even receive said food I had paid for as this restaurant refuses to update their website since the 2000’s. Overall great right :)

Excellent seaweed salad. Decent sushimi, if the salmon was better quality, I would have given 5 stars. Low quality white rice, but I ordered the white rice as a side and it wasnt sushi rice. Perhaps the rice was my oversight since this place also serves chinese dishes. For the price, I may try a different sushi place next time I am in Redding. Not a bad place by any means, Im satisfied, but it doesnt make me feel like Im missing out by trying a different sushi spot next time.

Hello, friends. You must be reading this because, like so many of us, you enjoy sushi (i.e. fish candy). If you enjoy businesses that are primarily run by teenagers, this might appeal to you! If you also like waiting 50+ minutes for your mediocre food to arrive on a rather slow holiday, then by all means, have at it.Immediately on arrival, we were informed that the wait for sushi was um like an hour. Wait- Im not sure- let me go check. *5 minutes later* okay its like 45 minutes. We were really hungry so we decided to get gyoza and edamame while waiting. We proceeded to receive sake that was way too hot, the wrong beer, and watched the couple seated 15 minutes after us completely finish their... gyoza and edamame. Huh. At least it only took 40 minutes to get our appetizers. As entertainment we watched the teenagers who were running the place standing around chatting and looking around in a haughty, blazé sort of way that a cat might watch someone eating a tv dinner alone: detached and judging. Finally, 50 minutes after we ordered, the rolls came. The more expensive rolls were tasty, but nothing special. The cheap roll was inedible.Look, its a strip mall sushi place. We never expect too much. But the staff always seems to get worse when theres no adult to manage them; the food takes longer each time; and the bill seems to get higher. We decided not to go here again and you should too. We will stick with Cocos from now on.

We stopped in for lunch with my Dads friend after she suggested we come here. I was surprised at the quality to say the least! Loved the food and drink selection, they also had nigori sake! I just ordered the lunch special # 2 (chicken, gyoza, salad, tempura Vegetables with shrimp, and miso) and it was more than I could handle for a pretty good price. The food was all cooked wonderfully, our server was very considerate and attentive. We had a great lunch and my dad and his friend were able to catch up as we ate some healthy and yummy food. Couldnt ask for more!

I recently had a terrible experience. The last couple of times they forgot to include all the food items in the order. This time I specifically wrote in the online order to include the soup salad and rice as they have been forgotten before. Picked up the items went home and sure enough theyre still missing. I requested they at least credit the salad but the only thing they could offer was in store credit for the future. My friend really wanted these items so ultimately I had to go back to the restaurant to pick them up. Clearly I was very frustrated at this point. I asked to remove the tip and they said they couldnt because it had already been processed. The restaurant itself is poorly ventilated, hot and dirty. I feel take out was the only option but clearly it feels like the restaurant purposefully stiffs the customer to save money. I had been going there for many years. And after all that effort the salad greens were turning brown on the edges and wilting.

I have been a loyal customer of Tokyo Garden for years now, but my last few experiences have me shopping around for a new favorite sushi restaurant. I ordered my to go order at 4:40, knowing that it usually takes them an hour and a half from when you order till your food is done and this time it took two hours and 40 minutes. It was a Saturday night, the inside was full and there were tons of to go orders. The employees were working their butts off and trying their best. It was not the employees fault. The owner needs to schedule more people to work when they are going to be that busy. Cheaping out on labor is losing them loyal customers. I would rather drive across town than wait nearly three hours for my food.

This place is really good. They have quite a selection and lots of rolls with sauces on top which are my favorite. My favorite roll of the night was the great white, something about the flavor on the white fish and the cream cheese just gave it a full package of goodness. We also tried the tuna poppers which were great also. Came in a circle shape and were perfect for sharing amongst all of us. Fairly small restaurant but great environment glad I tried it.

It used to be a favorite sushi spot. However, after dining in today, Im not too sure if its a place Id be coming back to. Our waiter took about 15-20 minutes before he came and took our order. Three other parties came in and sat after us, ordered after us, and yet still received their food before we did. We ordered the Curry Chicken plate and three sushi rolls. By the time we got all of our food, it was barely even warm. Its very disappointing since this was my first job when I was in high school. Never have I received my food cold. Kitchen food was always brought out while its hot, and even by the time the sushi comes out, its still warm since the rice stays hot in the rice cooker. Honestly, it just felt like we were purposely made to order and get our food cold.

The Food was excellent and we were very pleasantly surprised by the prices! I got the Veggie Beef Soup with Udon noodles and the serving size was so huge! Amazing for the price. I saved the leftovers and it will probably feed me for a good 2-3 more meals! My boyfriend got the #2 Special and the variety of food in it was wonderful! Service was pretty good too. Everyone had masks on and they made sure to social distance with the tables, which led to a longer waiting time for seating but definitely worth it!

Immediately after it went viral they had a major violation for rodents which is public record.Used to be a great place but I wont go back due to their extremely long wait times. Tokyo Garden is sadly starting to lose its amazing reputation. I have been coming here for years, but recently it has been declining. I was very understanding during the height of the pandemic and tried to blow off all of the issues but it has been consistent even after all restrictions had been lifted.Their wait time is double what they say. It took two hours for a dinner for two pick up order. They originally told me 45 minutes so I gave them an hour, then waited in my car for another entire hour. In addition, my order was missing items. I went back in to get them and the waitress looked as if I was lying and I politely asked her to simply get the items for me (miso soup and salad).The restaurant needs to move and get a bigger place. They simply cannot handle the crowd they are currently servicing. The lobby is tiny, the bathrooms are awful, and the place is just too small. I am going to wait a while and hope change he happens.

Let me start out with, Ive been going to Tokyo Garden for over a decade now. This is one my favorite sushi spots of all time or at least it used to be. I was here visiting from out of town, the only place Ive been dying to eat at for almost 2 years has been Tokyo Garden.I went out for dinner with family, and sat at the sushi bar. The guys actually making the sushi are the ONLY reason I would ever consider coming back here. They pay attention to you if you ever need anything.Now to everything else, the service... there was about 6 or 7 waitresses on a Wednesday night. Not a single one of them helped us out or would even look us in the eyes to help us order the other portion we were ordering that was not sushi. We had to ask someone to help us. We ate and tipped our sushi bar servers in cash because they were mainly taking care of us. A waitress took mine and my mothers cards, and then as we stood up the waitress who sat us asked us if we needed a table. EVEN THOUGH SHE SAT US. Then the other waitress who took our cards proceeds to ask us if we needed a table... AS SHE HAS OUR TICKETS AND CARDS IN HER HANDS. They mixed up my moms ticket before she paid with someone elses and thankfully she noticed before she signed. I paid for my food and even tipped the waitresses $7 as well even though they didnt help us AT ALL.The charge finally updates onto my card the next day and come to find out I was incorrectly charged another $20. I called the restaurant 2 different times and was eventually told the store owner would contact me. This owner called me and said she will look into it. Ends up just texting me (which how professional is it to try to fix YOUR mistakes via text message) She sends me a picture asking if this was my receipt, which is a customer copy and has NO PROOF of my signature anywhere. Someone in their restaurant wrote a $20 tip onto my receipt and they took it off my card. I was going back and forth with the owner and she promised me a refund which she STILL HAS NEVER DONE.I loved Tokyo Garden but I will never go here again. Dont pay with card if you dont want their waitresses or maybe even their owner to write an false tip on your card :) They literally stole from me and accused me, asking me for proof, and still wont refund me after Ive provided more than enough! :)

The menu is fairly large so have your phone ready to snap the QR code to read the descriptions online menu. I would have loved to been able to give this place more than 1 star. Unfortunately, waiting 1.5 hrs for food just isn’t acceptable, especially with 3 kids. I’ve been here 3 times now, and have never been served in less than an hour. I understand that the kitchen and servers are short staffed. But to me this is unnaceptable. This place has so much potential. I will say the Philadelphia Roll was probably the best Philly Roll I ever had. We watched numerous people that came in after us get their food, eat, and leave. I asked the waitress about our food and she blamed it on the Sushi Chefs. My water glass sat empty for almost 45 minutes until another waiter filled it. Then it was never filled again. The deep fried spicy tuna was lacking flavor. One of the guys with me had teriyaki beef. It was amazing. All in all we waited over a hour, and closer to a hour and a half. So I placed a delivery order with this company around noon. I found it odd that after a little over an hour it never came so I called. I was told that they never took my order and they do not deliver between 2 and 5. If I wanted to order I could come pick it up or dine in. Awesome customer service right.

The food is good! If you want sushi, its a good general rule to order 1.5 hours in advance. Theres usually a long wait for it.

Still great! Had three of the holiday rolls (Beetlejuice, Halloween and Pumpkin) and finished all of them. Service was as friendly as I remember and just a great time.

Thats such BS that there was a cockroach. Someone is angry about something. This place is very clean. Its small and quaint, I prefer Yama Sushi because its bigger, but the food is YUMMY!!! I would recommend it for sure. And, next door is that yummy cupcake and gelato store for dessert!!

Great fresh salmon hand rolls, but not much else on the menu to rave about. Stir fried noodles are bland and so is the soup. No sauce bar, only soy at the table. Disappointed again.

We used to come here all the time and the food was great. My last trip here I got food poisoning and today I decided to give it another chance and found cockroaches at our table 🤮. Needless to say we will not be coming back

Some of their decorations were Chinese and not Japanese, but just about every place in America struggles with decor. This place had good sushi, though for the price I would have expected better service and better quality

The food is always so good here. The online menu provides great discriptions of what the rolls have. They have a good kids menu for the little ones. Food is timely and the service is great

They consistently get orders wrong and bring incorrect food or leave this out entirely while still charging for the food. The food is generally mediocre with occasional good days but overall not nearly worth the money or hassle.

Always good. I love the atmosphere. It is quaint, hasnt changed much in all of the years it has served Redding, and I agree with many others, the sushi is the best in town.

The food was ok, I only ordered a bento box but I wasnt very impressed.the ramen was good though. My main complaint was service. Took forever to have anyone come by and they had multiple waiteresses walking around and not paying attention to the customers.

I guess I ordered a bit too late before their closing time (7:54 - Deliveries stop @ 8pm) and they never bothered to email or callIf you dont want to deliver at 7:54, make your closing time 7:50 ... otherwise, honor the time that you post, or AT LEAST send a notification that the order was cancelled - I waited an hour-fifteen before I called for you to tell me it was cancelled. Assholes

Good sushi, but I HATE massago and it was on almost every roll. I mean, just ask to not have it, but I initially wrote off multiple rolls because of it. Covering something in eggs or whatever doesnt make it good sushi, lwt your flavors shine.

This is a great place for fresh sushi. They also have yummy miso soup, bento boxes, and many other items. I dont eat any meat except for fish so this is a really good place to go.

Maybe Japanese food isnt for me. I ordered the pork. I got pork that was maybe 1/8 thick with almost 1 of deep fries breading. It was ridiculous to call it a pork dish there was so little pork in it.

If it were not for the Orion there is no way i would come here. Sakura sushi is the only authentic sushi resturant in redding. If you want good sushi I would highly reccomend it.....I lived in Japan for 5 years so I know what good sushi is. Also I am only 26 and my girlfriend 23 and they did not card us for the beer...

The sushi chefs are great...but the female servers are awful. Most of the time they are very rude....and it seems like a bother to ask them for anything. Get your food to go!

Before the service was really slow. But today it was fabulous. The ladies that waited were quick attentive and very helpful. I will enjoy going back now.
