I went prior to the pandemic and the place was pretty good and I thought I would invite family to dinner tonight and it was the worst mistake ever! Bad service and bad food! The chef seemed upset as soon as he arrived at the table. He drowned the food in garlic and soy sauce and all of the meat was burned! A complete waste of over $400.00.

First time here. This ended up being our plan B for the evening and we only found it doing a search for Hibachi restaurants in Carson. We got in for an early dinner so there was no waiting. The staff was friendly, efficient, attentive, and professional. We tried a few different apps and each of us got a different meal....everything we got tasted fabulous! There wasnt anything we didnt enjoy! We will definitely come back again another time!!

Reservation means nothing to them! We had a reservation for a specific time. When we made the reservation they were very clear in saying, if our entire party was not present on time, we would not be seated. We all arrived together and about 15 minutes early. We were told, they were running a bit late, possibly 15-20 minutes. We had a starving 2 years old with us and the hostesses saw our toddler. Fir those of you who have children, you know what this all means. It was a 7pm reservation and we were seated at 7:58pm!I wanted to leave but we made reservations to celebrate a birthday. Dinner was ok. We were just disappointed in the hostess attitude over their lack of time management.Our toddler ate snacks outside in extremely windy and cold weather for a child her age. By the time we sat down, they did not even have a high chair available. We didn’t enjoy the over $300 meal.To make matters worst, the hostess posted up right next to us watching us eating our dinner because she clearly had nothing.There are several similar restaurants with similar food, this one is out for us!Treat your customers better, especially if we have a reservation and we abide by ALL your rules.

Lots of problems with tonight’s visit. We are traveling and decided to go here. Had lots of problems with our food including raw steak. The person cooking our food in front of us wasn’t interactive at all and was very boring for lack of a better word. Definitely wasn’t work the $130 we spent. Wouldn’t recommend this place

They messed up the order, I ordered sushi for myself and the steak and chicken for my husband and a steak and chicken for the my 2 daughters. The chef didnt give my husband his meal but instead to me. So by the time he was done my husband just had rice in his plate. I was confused. We didnt even eat. We asked for to go plates and left.We were not going to make a scene and tell the chef he is giving the order wrong. It was a horrible first time experience.Paid $175 for a horrible experience

Ive been here twice and it has always been great service, great food and great chefs. The manager will always come over to the table after we are done eating and ask us if we enjoy the food. It is a busy place, so Id recommend getting reservations ahead of time and please be patient as you will still need to wait a bit for a table to clear up.

I came from out of town & decided to give these guys a try based on Google reviews but my experience was so-so. Id give them 2.5 out of 5 stars. The biggest thing I wanted to convey here is Dont expect to get your own table, and there is a very good chance youll be sharing the table (shoulder to shoulder) with noisy kids and their runny noses and gaming devices. Reservations are a must.Food: Probably the best part of the experience - everything was good.Service: Also good -- empty plates were removed promptly.Hibachi Chef: Our person was nothing special here, which can also be attributed to 5 different groupings of folks sharing the same table.Ambiance: Its a very noisy place on Saturday/Sunday at dinner time so it is hard to carry on a conversation with fellow members of your party.Note: I support the owners decision to maximize profit by packing everyone in wherever there is space available. However that can have an impact on the overall experience.If Im back in Long Beach I will probably try something else like Benihana. If I lived there locally and could hit the restaurant during the slower hours it would be different.

This place is amazing. Filled with locals who love Japanese food.This is a hibachi style Japanese restaurant. The chefs cook right in front of you. If you are on the shy side like myself and just want good food, the bar is greatThey also serve sushi. The sushi bar is a nice welcome environment, everyones friendly. Fun atmosphere. No reservation allowed so you must wait outside. Thats a good trick in making the impression that this place is popular when u see people eager waiting to get in. (Of course, must be able to attract people to come n eager to wait outsude first). We tried shrimps, scallops and steaks. All seemed frozen too long that made original taste gone. Liked their chef didnt put much condiments but if u said its trying to be healthy, then why fried rice was so oily?

Host and owner Jose is an amazing person. Our family has been enjoying Joses cooking for years. Back when Tokyo Hibachi was near Lakewood mall. Hibachi stake and shrimp is my all time favorite. Crunchy shrimp roll is my go to sushi. This is a great place to enjoy with family or friends. The food and environment is awesome.

Arrived to this place on a Saturday afternoon and was meet by a friendly gentleman who was running all over the place. The room/restaurant was full of smoke and people everywhere. We were seated about 40 minutes after our arrival with another family (very nice celebrating 2 birthdays). The food was delicious and the chef was entertaining. Fresh and delicious food, cooked at your table. Portions are just right for the price. Good value for money. I have heard people rave about this place. We had friends from out of state visit and we took them here, our first. Its clean and basic inside. We ordered the ribeye steak. They brought out what looked to me two new New York steaks. I asked for medium rare. My friends ordered chicken and salmon. Our steak was too rare and tough to enjoy. I will say the sushi was great as was the salad and soup. My friends enjoyed their meal. Im assuming its not a place for beef. We took our leftovers home but tossed them. Too tough to enjoy. We asked for brown rice. I dont think he liked that. It came out too wet. Their white rice was fine. My opinion is the cook, I cant call him a chef, was more concerned about how his show performance looked than cooking to order. All about the show and clicking the spatula and knife together.

I arrived 15min before my reservation and still waited at the bar for an hour without any updates as to when we would be seated. We decide to eat at the sushi bar(bill was $175 with no compensation for the inconveinace). Third experience I decide to order take out. When I got home I noticed the soups and rice missing from my meals. Ive always wanted to come to Tokyo Hibachi since it was located across Lakewood Mall. Now in Woodruff Avenue, having dinner here for the first time was a great experience and I see why its a Lakewood stable for many years. I went for the Hibachi Steak ($24.95). The steak pieces were tender and delicious from its marinate. For more flavor I would dip them in sesame sauces provided. That doesnt come alone, on a separate plate are the mushrooms, onions, and chopped cucumbers. Instead of steamed rice I opted for fried rice to complete my meal and they were tasty, I could taste the seasoning from the black peppers. Within the rice is scrambled eggs, onions, and carrots, so it was fulfilling. Included in the entree is Japanese onion soup, and salad.

Love the atmosphere, but theyre system for taking orders could use a lot of improvement. I order the Lobster Tail and Steak with a side of fried rice -that I never received, but other people in our group that didnt order it had a serving- for my girlfriend, and I also order a Teriaki Steak with steamed rice -witch I had to remind them several times and receive it untill it was almost time for us to leave- for myself. But the three Asahi beers I shared with my girlfriend had me in a better mood. Hopefully Ill have a better experience next time.

This was my first time at Tokyo Hibachi and my party (double date) was looking forward to the dinner and a show that Hibachi has to offer. The food was delicious and thegeneral pricing is good. The waiting service was very attentive and in their feet.However, my entire party was disappointed in the Hibachi show. The lack of show included a couple shapes made out of rice and a firey volcano. It did not include an impressive opening act, spinning egg, food toss into the mouth, or Saki squirt.Another surprise was that there is a $3/person up charge for fried rice instead of streamed rice. Nowhere on the menu pointed this out nor did the waiter mention it. This is a sneaky trick to milk the most out of customers!

I have been a customer of Tokyo Hibachi since the late 80s. Mr. George, owner, his sister Hiromi, were on South near Clark Ave before this current location. I thought there had closed permanently but they just relocated. They are by far the best in Sushi Ive tried, and I have been around. Freshes and premier quality seafood, ingredients and cuisine available. Juan, staff member, has been with T.H. for many years. He has a delightful personality and greets everyone with affection and professionalism. All staff are top notch to meet Mr. George strict criteria. Best sushi and Japanese grill in L.A. and O.C. county.
