Take your out of town guest here or have a date night. Food is delicious, chefs are entertaining, large groups are free to be loud and if youre a group of four or less youll share a grill with others. Weve been several times and never disappointed.

I Had an opportunity to take my dad and son to Tokyo Wako for Fathers day. We had a great time. The service was first rate, the food was prepared fast and was delicious. Cara, the bartender, makes a great Mojito. Whats really enjoyable is the overall experience. I definitely recommend Tokyo Wako.

Great experience and outstanding food. The hospitality from the beginning needs to be addressed. The host wasn’t very welcoming and the server we had was just ok. No smile, no conversation whatsoever. I know they work for tips, but tips isn’t automatic. First the server delivered us our sushi and she placed it so hard on the table that the sushi lost its appearance. She did apologize, but then it took her awhile for her to refill our drinks. The chef was outstanding. Humorous and welcoming. I would go back again, but hopefully the hospitality will be better. We are paying an average of $50 a person, so let’s work on it.

Awesome experience. Went there for our Grandmas birthday. The Chef was super fun, awesome, friendly, and very funny. The Price and portions was the best part. Great portion sizes and price was literally half of similar restaurants.

Had dinner here tonight with the wife and kids. First off, the restaurant has a well designed layout its nicely decorated. Our waiter and cook were polite friendly and very sociable. It was a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, and the food and drinks were great. A little pricey but well worth it.

Came here tonight to celebrate my nephews birthday and the 5 stars are truly for our Chef & Server they were both amazing! We had Chef Don and he put on such a good show, he was funny, lighthearted and very accommodating as two people in our party had a shellfish allergy. The food was tasty and seasoned well. Our sever (who’s name I forgot) was so awesome he was a younger gentleman with glasses. He was super nice and attentive and even gave us recommendations on food. I have to say the host and other staff does need to improve, she was not very welcoming and was passive aggressive when my husband asked how long the wait was for the table to be ready, but we just ignored it and didn’t let that affect our night. Also, upon arrival there was nobody up front but i did see staff walk past and they didn’t at least acknowledge us and say “we’ll be right with you” or “we’ll get the host for you; just a moment”. All they did was stare as they walked past? Okay lol. Other than that It was a good time, and I’d probably only come back to have Chef Don as our chef again & the server too. Dealing with the host and other staff honestly does turn me away though. I’d suggest they bring some hosts with more welcoming energy, and better communication and customer service, that’s the 1st impression of the restaurant, and so far from other reviews I can agree that there’s been issues with some staff there. Again thank you to Chef Don and our sever (sorry I forgot your name) you guys made our night great!

From the beginning to the end, our experience here was GREAT! In making the reservation, the hostess over the phone was so helpful and patient as she answered all my questions with no hesitation. We were here to celebrate my Moms 70th birthday and our experience was wonderfull All thanks to our AMAZING Chef Adaml Adam was very entertaining and attentive to everyones needs, as we had a couple of picky eaters in our party, LoL Adam made sure that everyone was taken care of and especially my Mom! He is definitely a people person, very witty and his personality, a breath of fresh air. He definitely is the Chef to ask for when visiting the Ontario location. The food was so good, the steak and shrimp was cooked to perfection. Thank you Adam for making my Moms 70th Birthday Celebration so memorable and so much fun!

Loved having my granddaughters birthday dinner here last night Thursday. She is of special needs and the lovely host was nice enough to accommodate the big room for us to be more comfortable.The service was exceptional… from server to chef to the gentleman helping out with our refills, everyone was so welcoming and attentive.Will definitely be returning.The food was great and the little birthday ice cream was definitely a treat for my granddaughter im sure she enjoyed watching the show✨⭐️💫

I usually try to leave positive reviews, but we had a pretty bad experience when my group ate here on 7/1/23. We had a reservation, and even though we arrived early, we were not seated until 10 minutes after the reservation. I usually find this to be acceptable, but then we still had to wait another 10 minutes to order drinks and apps. It took a few minutes to receive the drinks. Another party arrived at our table 20 minutes after we had been seated. It almost felt like they were delaying service until another group arrived. Our order was taken about 5 minutes after the other group was seated, so we had to wait 35 minutes to order. Our apps arrived at the table at the same time as the other party, even though we ordered 10 to 15 minutes before their order was taken. Then we had to wait another 20 for a chef to arrive at our table. The food was okay, but I would not say it was great. All that being said, our chef Adam and server Andrew were awesome. They did their best to improve our experience.

Sorry to say this was a disappointment. The chef we had was not really interested in cooking. He was just going through the motions. We love Japanese steak house, Ichiban, places and have enjoyed experience from coast to coast. Most have very enthusiastic chefs that love what they do. This guy was just not that person. The food was overcooked and dry. The seasoning was not even close to correct. I gave the atmosphere 1 star because the restrooms where filthy. The manager needs to re evaluate what he is doing.

The service is awful now. Our waitress only came to get out drink order.. deliver the drinks and take our food order .. she never came back. We had to ask our chef for drink refills and he couldn’t even find our waitress. They never sang happy bday. Told the manager cuz he was walking by and he said he’d call the waitress and she still never came..

Great lunch special and always fun to see your food made. The fried rice is definitely worth it. I had the shrimp and steak. There vegetables are perfectly done and the meat was tasty. I liked the sauces as well. Great friendly service and a fun experience.

This review is strictly for the general manager Andy. We came in to celebrate my sisters Doctorate graduation and he really ruined the experience. We had a reservation for 12:30pm and half of our party was here at 12pm and he stated he could seat us as soon as our other half came (understandable). Our other half came in at 12:15pm and he then stated he could not seat us because there are walk ins coming in. He was extremely rude when addressing us and stated he said he was able to seat us earlier. It really hindered our experience for such a beautiful celebration especially given that the host was apologetic on his behalf. It is not appropriate for a general manager to speak rudely and lie about what he had said. This is unfortunate because it was our first interaction as soon as we walked in. Hopefully he receives proper training with addressing people.

Last night I was able to go to Tokyo Wako for my sisters 35th Birthday and we really had an AMAZING time!! ANDREW✨️✨️ our waiter was super chill and really nice he was friendly he didnt seem irritated when we kept asking him to grab things I mean we are not needy but he was there with a SMILE EACH TIME😁😁😁 he was very knowledgeable of the menu which I liked his recommendations were Fabulous you can tell that he enjoys not only life but his job and he made sure my sister Birthday was special & HIS ASSISTANT HELPING HIM KEEP OUR TABLE CLEAN WAS ALSO SOOO NICE EVERYTIME I TURNED AROUND HE MADE SURE I WAS CLEAR OF ANY UNWANTED DISHES WHICH I ABSOLUTELY LOVVVE SO THANK YOU FOR YOUR WONDERFULATTENTIVENESS!! OUR CHEF DON WAS THE BEST!!! My husband wanted to eat sushi. Im not a sushi eater at all (NO RAW FISH PLEASE!), but to appease my husband, I went. Mario, the sushi chef, made me a believer! He made me a sushi roll with cooked fish, and I dont know what it was called, but it was very good! I appreciate his culinary and persuasive skills in getting me to eat sushi. My husband asked Mario to make him a specialty, and Mario delivered as well. We enjoyed the experience. Thanks Mario!

Food and service is great! But Only the Teppan tables were open. My date and I wanted a more intimate setting so we asked for a booth and they abliged. That was really cool of them. But they closed at 9pm on a Friday which was a bummer when we got there at 8.

The server and the chef were great! The host, needs training. He told the young lady taking over host stand to seat large walk ins before seating small party reservations. We had a 2 person reservation, got there 5 minutes early and he had us wait 20 minutes while seating other walk ins.

Ive been at this location a few times, each times it was fairly pleasant. I recently had lunch there, the customer service has definitely gone downhill, it was a surprise birthday celebration for my hubby, told the hostess then here comes the waitress, oh so we are celebrating birthdays today, I was sooo disappointed, I told the waitress it was suppose to be a surprise, not once did she apologize. We then order a sushi item, waited for about 30 minutes and nothing, we asked the waitress, she then said oh we are out, then proceeded to leave until we asked her uhhh can we get a menu so we can get something else? She then went to grab a menu handed to us then not a word just left to attend to another table, this has been the most awful customer service I have ever experienced, needless to say, I would definitely not ever step a foot in the restaurant again.. they need to train their staff better.

I will give four stars for the restaurant for the customer services and overall feeling of the restaurant. Three star for the food and one star for the floor plan for the front door. At the end, average a three star. It might be little bit low. Anyway, let me begin everything. the front gate is facing north and parking lot is on the rear of this place. You will have to walk all the way to front for the entrance. You can also park the car on the west side of the restaurant but there is not much of light in the parking lot at this section. It is my first time to try Japanese grill. It is fun!!! Fire, knife work and ect. make you exciting. I had lobster and steak combo. Eh...meat quality is good but taste was bit salty. Maybe I should let chef know I prefer lighter taste. Since I go there on weekday, its not crowded but still have four tables set up for the customer. There are two sections in the restaurant, one is grill section and one is the sushi section. I will try the sushi section next time.

Settled upon traditional cuisine, Tokyo Wako does not disappoint. From the meats to veggies and sauces, every bite is delicious. When youre here, go all out and order their shrimps and chicken. They serve combo plates along with soup and delicious salad. They are opened for patio seating during Covid. Please give this place a try, you wont regret it.

The food was just ok and lacked the flavor it should have had, but it’s the First time ever having a cook toss his fork at me and missed my face by 6 inches. No sorry NothingThe cook was lacking and could not handle his fork and knife. Had it hit me or my kids. This would have been a very big issue. To start the water taste like dirty dish water. And when I talked to the waiter about it. He said they get a lot of complaints about the water. So one would think you would fix that problem. Then the chef comes and kept dropping his utensils and just making a mess of the food. I ordered steak medium and it was well. Then the check comes. And they charge $4.25 extra per person for fried rice. So save your time and money. And go to your local Panda Express. Im sure it will taste a whole lot better. And at a quarter of the price.

I dont know how my previous review was removed but when I dined at this restaurant in December I ate here and the food wasnt horrible but after I paid I saw a cockroach crawl out from under the grill... when we brought this to the managements attention, they didnt seem to be concerned and offered us a free food item or a discount if we came back. I declined because who would want food from a roach infested restaurant. I wasnt expecting anything in return its just the lack of concern by tokyo wako that brought on this review, and I feel that others should know as well. We will see if this gets removed again.

First I didnt get another photos or names so youll just have to take my word for it. The staff here is great ! From the moment we first stepped in the door we where treated with great customer service from every staff member. The guy at the grill was great another couple had kids at the table with us and he made sure to interact with them which he definatly didnt have to do. The food was amazing the chicken was cooked to perfection it didnt even need the dipping sauce! The shrimp though really stole the show! We will be back probably a few times if it stays the same.

My friend is a fan of this at the location in Pasadena which is always packed. We came here on the weekday for lunch and it was literally empty so we had the whole place to ourselves the whole time we were there. The chef was nice and cooked our food on the grill. He did the fire tunnel thing with the onions for his trick. The fried rice was a bit too greasy for me but my friend is a fan. I think I would try the steak or sushi next time.

I love going to this place, however, I do not like the service they have the girl serving. She is unprofessional with her clothes. There is a place and time for the way she was dressed, however in this case, it is the wrong time and place. Her shirt was open to the extreme where her chest can falls out. My wife also comment on her way of dressing because it is inappropriate for a restaurant. The food she carried out couldve touch her chest. Then my wife found a piece of hair in the salad. It wasnt my hair because it was black, therefore, I believe it belong to the girl that doesnt know what she was doing. She doesnt understand the menu when we asked her, so I think she called someone over which I believe was a manager. I thought as a manager, they has to understand the menu, however, he doesnt understand the menu either. When they finally got our order, we got more frustrated because the order was all wrong. Who let this kind of girl work in a restaurant without any knowledge of the menu and unprofessional. The most unpleasant sight I saw while walking to the restroom was I saw them two flirting out in the open in a restaurant fill with people! That is the reason why she doesnt return to our table. Such poor customer service from her. Also the manager doesnt act as the manager.

This Restaurant is a great location and the whole experience is good. The entrance is located facing the main road with a beautiful Koy pond. The dining areas are nice and spacious. The variety of choices are excellent. The price imo is a little high but the $2.50 draft Sapporo were great. Over all I recommend the restaurant but dont expect fast food quality or prices.

I never leave reviews, but as a truck driver who loves finding places for sushi around the country, this was my first and last time here. In short, the service sucked, and it seemed like everyone including the manager on duty was uncoordinated and didnt know their own product. The only thing good was the taste and texture of the sushi. The sushi chef also needs to know how important the rice ratio and for it to not fall apart is. Thats more than I even wanted to waste time leaving a review about...good luck with this place.

This place is good. Been coming here for years. Tbh, I consider this place the cousin to Benihanas. This place is particular is a bit run down. But the chefs are entertaining and the food is good. Bar needs improvements, but they have the essentials. All the draft and bottled beers are Japanese, they dont have Corona or Dos Equis. I had the ribeye wirh fried rice, it was good, tender meat, its cooked on the cook top, not grilled. But it was good. I rexcokend you try it, but make reservations if you want the Tepanyaki experience.

When arrived I was told itll be a 15 minute wait then 35 minutes nothing 1 hr and 15 minutes later where told we can sit on the dining side only us THE BLACK CUSTOMERS were told we would have to wait additional time which is ridiculous terrible customer service to allow kids to wait a hr and a half and not speak to let us know we couldve sat on dining side from the beginning....

My brother raved about this plave and brought me to try it. I called to make sure they had sushi and they said yes. When i went inside to put my name on the list, i asked again about the shushi and they said yes. Finally sat down and asked for sushi and was advised the sushi person doesnt come in till dinner. We Got there at 1230 Sat at 1245 and didnt start serving anything till 130. Someone forgot to put the flavor in the soup, so it was hot water. They offered to replace it, but that even took about 30 min to get . The cook was nice. Waitress had really long fake nails.. kinda grossed me out. Hopefully she cleans under her nails. Went to dinner here with business associates. The menu is extensive, but well laid out, making selections easy. I had the Hibachi Tuna Steak, I wish I could cook tuna this well at home! The vegetables were cooked to perfection, the fried rice was nice and tasty, but the Tuna was supremely done. I will remember this dining experience for a long while and place Tokyo Wako on a list of places to visit on the next trip.

I loved this one so much I decided to go to the one in Long Beach where we live. The one in Long Beach was absolutely horrible, and they made us feel as though we were not welcome, so we will never return to that one again. The receptionist said they do not hand out business cards, she did not know the number to the restaurant, and informed us there was no one there who could give her the number to the restaurant.

This place seems to have been hit hard by the effects of the pandemic. The staff while trying to do there best with what little amount of people that were working the Friday night I visited. Just couldnt keep up with the demand. We were a group of seven celebrating my sons and nieces graduation. I only ever saw five workers (not counting the ones in the back) on the floor at all. It took over an hour and a half to be seated another 30 minutes to place orders and 20+ minutes after that for Don to come by and grill our orders. (Similar to benihanas) If not for how awesome Don was this would be a one star review. He was great and made the most out of our terrible experience. I cant recommend this place until they are fully staffed again. Food was good but the experience effected how I felt about it so I wont talk to much on that

Came here for lunch with my boyfriend and they had set us with a party that was already sitting at the table, from the get go you knew who was the priority for the chef in front of us. As soon as he had gotten to making the fried rice I had even mentioned to my boyfriend that i felt excluded. For the food being as pricey as it is (3.50 for a cup of soda for example) it was a lack luster meal although my boyfriends steak was good. The waitress was attentive and cleaned the table so fast we never had clutter. If you read this I hope you dont have to share the tip i gave you :) If you want to go to a place like this id recommend going to a different one unless you dont care food to cost quality. ~Hope you enjoyed the 1.50 in change as a tip Sir I gave about as much attention to your tip as you did to us :)

Flavorless miso soup.Came for lunch. Sat us down. Still waited a whole hour an a half before we got even our soup. Forgot our salads. No sushi available at all during lunch hour. The flipping of things, spinning eggs, onion volcanoes etc just didnt do it...guess Ive been too many of these types of places. I’m not really picky when it comes to food so when I give a bad rating, it means it’s BAD. The food we ordered tasted nothing like Japanese food and everything was salty.Our New York skirt steak looked like it was mauled by a bear and was swimming in some salty soupy sauce and the vegetables were mushy and tasted like sand was in it.The fried rice was somewhat ok but again was too salty. I asked if they had any hot sauce and they gave me some pasty looking thing I had never seen in my life before and when I tried it, it tasted like it had menthol in it.In terms of price, it’s pretty expensive and I’m urging you to spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

After the rush was over, we had the best 2 hour meal experience in Toronto (were from Windsor).Food was excellent, service was very personable. I can see if the place was packed (every day !), service would be slightly slower. Quarters are tight. Food delivery was good, meals were hot and out of this world.Will go back there in a heart beat. This was my first time at this restaurant, and at this type of restaurant. The filet mignon was just alright, nothing special. In fact, I think it was lazy that they only season it with butter and ginger. The chef who prepared and performed for us did a good job cooking the food. Unfortunately, in his stunts, he was a bit too careless with his blades and he ended up shooting hot oil right below my right eye. Half an inch higher and it would have landed in my eye and I would have had to go to the hospital, possibly lost vision in that eye. My face turned red where the oil landed, but at no point did the chef even acknowledge that he made a mistake and injured me. I didnt make a scene, as I know it was a careless accident, but they need to be more careful, and you need to be aware that this might happen to you.

Absolutely disappointed in the way Tokyo Waco handled my reservation for today (Mothers Day). I called and made a reservation for 5:00pm on 5/8/2016 for 4 people. The man who took my reservation didnt speak English very well, but despite that, he seemed to have clearly understood that I made the reservation for 5:00 pm on 5/8/2016 because I asked him to confirm the time and date before I hung up. Everything seemed fine. Fast Forward to 4pm on 5/8/2016, I called to confirm my reservation and see if I could get seated sooner, I was unpleasantly surprised to be informed that my reservation wasnt showing up. I told the woman that took my call that I had made the reservation. She said no, it isnt showing up. She asked me if I had I had spoken to an asian sounding man the day I booked my reservation. I said yes, she said oh he must have not informed us. So just like that, I was left without a reservation for Mothers Day, thanks to this lack of communication on Tokyo Wakos employees behalf. If you plan on making reservations here, I highly recommend going there physically and/or asking for an email confirmation. Thanks Tokyo Wako. Very well done (pun intended).

(we were a party of 4 - 3 adults, 1 teenager) Server brought out the soda and a single glass of water, placed them on the table and left. While we sat waiting, yet again, to place our drink and appetizer order. During that 15-20 minute stretch, a male server appeared, refilled the soda and water then silently disappeared while my husband began talking with the couple seated behind us. When asked if theyd had any issues with the service, their food order, etc. they began describing long waits, lack of servers, being ignored by servers, repeated errors with their orders, etc. They suggested we cut our losses now - at the cost of two beverages plus the aggravation of time wasted - and go find someplace else to eat before it got any later. We took their suggestion and went to eat at the Petro Truck Stop on East Guasti Road where we received fast, friendly service and good food.
