Knowing that this restaurant is always busy, I actually came at 5pm in order to beat the crowd. The service is good and prompt. Food is delicious, and I am happy 😊

Came here for lunch and was lucky to get a seat within 20 minutes. Their bento was such value and also tasted great. I went with the sashimi combo and even had enough teriyaki chicken for a small take out box home. The waitress was so friendly as well, had a very good experience here!

A hole in the wall sushi spot. Okay food, but pricy for what it was worth. Good service. I ordered the Katsudon and my friend ordered several pieces of sushi. There werent labels on what each sushi is, so if you arent familiar, be sure to look it up beforehand.For both dishes there is a large rice ratio, for me I prefer to have less of a rice ratio to my food. The service itself was good though and they check on you regularly. Wouldnt come back mostly because I want to check out other restaurants near me.

This place is very good, the quality of the food is good especially the sushi, according to my friend who studied in Japan!I love the salmon, good texture of fish meat with very good flavor and fresh feelings, I also like the tempura, crunch outside but juicy inside!The service is very good also, there is a cute girl she always comes to fill your tea. I accidentally knocked my tea over and she was there right away to help me, to give me tissues and towels, to tell me dont worry, she is just so cute with a smile on always!We would love to come back again!

Similar to the one in the Mountain View. Overall it tastes good, just the dragon roll has too much rice. The service is also good and quick. There are enough seats on weekend and no need to wait if you arrive before the noon.

The sushi here remains really good since I last visited 3 years ago. However, do not order the tempura. Whoever is doing the frying job these days is an amateur. I remember the kisu tempura being very light and crisp with minimal oil. The current fry cook sucks because the kisu tempura I had had an overwhelmingly oily batter that covered up the delicate flavor of the fish. The vegetable tempura was also subpar.

Tomi has been here for many many years with a good number of loyal/long term customers. They serve traditional Japanese dishes (somewhat different than a lot of other fusion-Japanese restaurants, with those fusion sushi rolls). They also have good lunch specials. The dishes are in general pretty good with good quality sashimi, reasonable CP. Some of the items though do have high prices.

One of the more consistent good quality sushi place. Its not the cheapest and it can get crowded in a hurry. Good choices are bento combo box, nigiri sushi and sashimi. Japanese sushi chef.Parking available in the strip mall complex lot. It tends to be less crowded than the other restaurant in Mountain View downtown.

Cozy Japanese restaurant. Ive been coming here since I was a kid. Originally, it was just for their daily lunch special, but then my family started branching out to dinners. Im in love with their amaebi sushi. Plus they fry the shrimp heads and you can eat them whole.

The amount served as dinner combination was a little overwhelming: soup, salad, two entrees along with a rice bowl. The chirashi donburi was also with lots of fish. When we arrived around 6:20, there were only a few seats left. And by the time we left around 7:15, there were at least 10 guests waiting outside. The main take way is: come early for dinner!

Been coming here for over 10 years. This place is the best. The new owner is Japanese. Very friendly. I really enjoy the quality of food and service every time we come here. Omg I cant believe this was my first time here even though Ive lived in the area for my whole life? This place is so good. Their lunch special was amazing. And their nigiri is fresh. There is definitely a wait during lunch time cuz everyone knows what a steal it is. But if you have the time, put your name down because its worth the wait! Look at my lunch! I rated this place 5 stars previously but I must now revise my review after a recent visit. The owner chef must have read the recent article in Wall Star Journal stating that some sushi restaurant owner chefs were earning +500K per year. The food is still good but sushi pieces are tiny and they dare charge for tea and rice.I now recommend that people patronize other sushi restaurants operated by. hard working non Japanese who are willing to work for their money.

I like coming to this place. Their sushi is fresh and price is not bad considering inflation. But the special sushi I ordered today was very thin and nigiri came with excessive wasabi. Worse thing was their service. It took 40 mins to get the first plate and they said our ticket was lost and the same thing happened in my last visit. It is a crowded place all the time and I guess they dont care about customer service.

Came here on mothers day, waited for about 20mins to be seated, and about 40mins wait for our food to come so they gave us an edamame on the house. I ordered the daily special which came with vinegar rice with sashimi, seaweed salad and salmon skin on the top, a piece of grilled salmon and salmon miso soup. I usually go to the sushi Tomi in Mountain View which is great so I decided to give tomi sushi a try in San Jose. It was one the worse experiences I’ve had for a while. The waitress completely forgot about what we ordered and didn’t get my wife’s dish. She handed us the check before we got everything we ordered. Food quality wasn’t great and it isn’t the cleanest place. Avoid if you’re trying to have a good time or like good service.

This place is legit. Some of the best, most authentic Japanese Ive had in years. You can add Sukiyaki as a bento selection for an extra three dollars, which is worth it since its a good-sized portion served in a nabe, not in the bento box. The hotate and uni were quite fresh and the sashimi (maguro & sake) was like butter. The tempura was spot-on. We were bummed that the Dragon Roll was only 4 pieces but they were large and very yummy. I am a regular at Sushi Tomi in Mountainview, and since they are under construction and closed now I decided to give the San Jose location a try. Maybe it was just the specific day that I went, but upon getting the Special Nigiri Sushi I found the ikura flavor and egg size was off in a way that is difficult to pin down. I think the typical delicious ocean freshness was just absent, which threw me off. I will say though that the tuna cut was more deep and rich than I usually get from the MTV location. As usual, service was great and the tea was delicious. I will likely be coming back.

My go to for great sushi. They do get busy and typically the wait for 2 can be around 15-20 minutes, they also do not take reservations.The fish is always great quality and fresh and the service has never caused any issues. They grind their wasabi fresh every day and it is honestly something I wish more places would do since the flavor is awesome.

This was my favorite sushi bar in San Jose. It had some amazingly fresh and delicious fish. I tried it two times in the last two months and both times I can honestly say that the fish was tasteless, tough and overtly fishy. In the past the fish that they served from Japan were melt in your mouth delicious! It was worth the expense. Now, both times it was merely expensive with no flavor, tough texture, poorly cut with veins in place, and the shellfish was rubbery and tasteless. So sorry to write this review but this restaurant doesnt live up to its previous well earned reputation. I hope reviews like this (and hopefully others that will step up and be honest) will right the ship and return Tomisushi to its previous excellence.

Although I love Sushi Tomi (the sister location in Mountain View), Tomi Sushi was a bit disappointing in some regards. The service was definitely less friendly here than at their other location. Also, we all ordered combination dinners and all of the food came out all at once which was a bit bizarre/made us feel like they were trying to rush us out of there even though we were literally one of two parties in the restaurant since we arrived right when they were opening for dinner.That aside, the fish is still awesome, so I will give 4 stars for that. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for delicious sushi/sashimi. Im a huge fan of their salmon!

This place is walking distance from my apartment and I am sooo glad it is. I love this restaurant so much that I come here on average once a week (maybe two for those special weeks). The fish is fresh and delicious, the sushi chefs are always professional and nice, and the waiting staff are all so sweet. Nothing super flashy about the rolls, just pretty traditional and the flavor from the fish alone is enough to satify.

Excellent food. We had the teriyaki chicken, tempura udon, and sashimi lunch, all were very delicious and well prepared, including the salad and miso soup side dishes. Even the rice and tea were great quality. The minor down side is that the restaurant is slightly crowded and its a bit difficult to get the waitresses attention, so you will need to time your visit accordingly. Otherwise, we had a very good experience.

Tomi Sushi is one of my favorites. Their sashimi and sushi are very fresh and tasty. The size of the sashimi is just perfect. Their Extra Special Chirashi is a must try! The price is just right for the quality and quantity you get.

Great food here, pretty close to what you would get in Japan, unlike the sometimes great though a little over the top American style sushi rolls you find elsewhere. Also a couple of Japanese staff to keep it real and take your orders in Japanese if you are that way inclined.

For a late lunch, i got the bento box with chicken teriyaki and sashimi. I was bummed that you cant get a double order of sashimi for the bento like you can at other sushi joints (I wouldnt mind paying a couple extra bucks for it).The fish was fatty and the sashimi was cut haphazardly which made me wonder if there was even a real, trained sushi chef behind the counter....The chicken was greasy and there was too much sauce.Not the best sushi place Ive been to. Id pass unless youve exhausted all other lunch options.

I believe that Tomisushi is the best sushi bar in the area. The closest sushi bars that I am aware of that can rival it are Akane Japanese Restaurant in Downtown Los Altos and Sanraku Sushi in the Blossom Hill Mall.
