Tomodachi Sushi Bar & Restaurant in San Diego

March 4, 2023:Walking into the restaurant we were automatically greeted and seated for a party of five. The server was extremely nice and attentive. The restaurant overall felt homey and looked very clean. I was looking forward to trying their special roles and I was not disappointed. The Monkey and Georgina rolls were TASTY! They were smaller than other rolls I have had but they were good. On the other hand, their hand rolls are definitely small! Let’s just say you get three dollar’s worth for hand roll instead of the seven dollars that you pay for (Their hand rolls are $7 each. They are not on the menu, you have to ask for them). My point is, I don’t think I got my moneys worth for the hand roll at all. It was wayyy to small for the cost. Also, the noodles we ordered were smaller in portion too. Overall, I liked the restaurant and the food but it wasn’t my favorite.SIDE NOTE: Pay attention to their dine-in hours. For example, on Tuesday’s they are open till 8pm but their last dine-in is at 7:15pm. This means that if you want to eat there AFTER 7:15pm, they won’t seat you (even though they are open till 8pm).

Nice place for Japanese fare. Good service, tasty food, would come back here again.Ok, its been 6 months since the first review and Im happy to report that this place is the real deal. The staff is very diligent and fast and the food is delicious. New pics posted too and the entire menu.So, its been 10 months since my last review and I popped in here to get a bite. There was no customers in the restaurant but a guy came over and said they were closed. Apparently, they close between 2 and 3. It was 1:55 in the afternoon on a Wednesday but the doors were still open and the sign didnt say closed. What the F? I told him that I would not EVER be back. What a stupid business practice to close between 2 and 3. Its obviously to cut costs but if it drives customers away, is it really worth it? I think not.

5 stars ALL the way, but my only concern is I wish the online menus match whats here because they also serve bowls of Phô and Ramen. Calm relaxing experience overall with a WIDE variety of Sushi choices.

Sushi rolls were very good. The jalapeño roll was amazing, and the egg rolls were full of flavors. I was impressed by the peach sake. Service was 5 star did not mess anything.

Best sushi bar/restaurant in South Bay, hands down!Good, quick service, and great fresh sushi at reasonable prices.

Yummy sushi with great flavor. The new roll is one of our favorite with a seared scallop on top. If your interested in keeping your carbs down or on a diabetic diet, try the Lo Carb roll (made with cucumber and seaweed). Great place for lunch/dinner & take out.

The ramen is delicious in both presentations! Wether you choose miso or tonkotsu you wont be dissapointed.

Great food and good, fast service! My only complaint is that they include imitation crab as one of their seafood varieties for many of the seafood dishes. I did not ask if it could be substituted but I recommend doing so if it is an option. Sushi favorites menu was amazing. I will be back.
