Hubby and I switched up our usual date night and drove up to try out Topa Topa in Ojai. It did not disappoint!! Super friendly staff, relaxing environment, beautiful views of the mountains. Great drinks and the food is unbelievably delicious. Our new fave. You have to try the fried cauliflower and the wings!!

Beer is great but food is ALSO GREAT!I stopped here for lunch today and thoroughly enjoyed myself! The service was so friendly and quick and the food was delicious. I got the rice bowl with lemongrass beef and friend mushrooms. It was a little spicy, and so tasty that didnt have to add anything! Ill definitely be going back.I took home a 6-pack of Chief Peak and am drinking it now!

I stopped through with the wife to get a few beers just expecting your average local brewery: nothing great but somewhere to try something different. I was shocked by the fantastically well made beers, better quality that many higher end breweries. I loved there hazys but everything I had was true to form and super tasty. Also the servers were incredibly freindly and helpful. Awesome spot. Took two 4 packs to go, for a steal too!

Darn good beer in a nice location. The staff is friendly and serious about their beer. They have a couple of unusual but tasty and refreshing brews like Sanjon Splash Club Nitro Pineapple Sorbet Hazy IPA, Tiny Talk, and Caseys Kolsch that all worth a try.I havent had a bad IPA from them yet, they all go down smooth. Chief Peak is always a go-to brew.You have to order your food separately at the Little Sama window and theyll deliver it to your table.My only real complaint is that the only seats are tall metal stools that get real uncomfortable real quickly. With my knees having my knees dangling is a painful experience anyway, a few normal height seats and tables would be appreciated.* This only applies to the booze side. Im reviewing the food and food service under Little Samas own listing.

Great little beer place. IPA-centric. Asian fusion food Sama Sama right inside the shop. I was pretty impressed by the details like the the glasses for the Fights! Would definitely keep coming back!

Service is lame. Weve been multiple times and this seems to be consistent. Tonight we ordered food from little sama and then I stood at the bar and waited for the bartender to finish his conversation with a guy who already paid. After 4 minutes, and yes, I did look at the time on my phone, I walked away. Never any acknowledgement. Its a shame, the foods good, but I think Im done.Update... thanks for reaching out. I have been back for drinks with some friends and sitting at the bar we did get good service. i am changing my rating from a 2 to a 3. Maybe it will get better from here.Update 2 ...Service has greatly improved. I would raise my 3 star to a four star review except its always so dang cold. Can you all close the garage doors and the side window when the temperature is below 60?

Beer is good. Prices not so much. Bought one and a half pints of their regular ipa chief and it was essentially 20 bucks for 1.5 pints after tax and a buck tip on each. Thats too much for 24 ounces of standard IPA. Ill grab a six pack next time and drink it at a beautiful trail destination and save myself the scene and cost. I wanted a half after ordering my pint and even though the sign said 4 and 8 for two sizes I was charged 6 for 8 oz of beer. When I asked I was told that a half was six but its not on the sign. I asked about the sign and he said taster, or whatever the word was, wasnt a half and half simply want on the sign. Six dollars is too much for 8oz of standard IPA and clarify portions in sign before charging undisclosed, and not advertised, sums. Its misleading. Not the bartenders fault I suppose though if its not posted he should clarify. I wouldve ordered a full pint for the extra two bucks. He did seem like he was about to offer to make it a pint but Im not cheap and that would have been a touch embarrassing. I didnt want to make a deal, though its uncomfortable to be put in peculiar scenarios that could be avoided. Its a principal thing.The crowd, on the weekends, also leaves something to be desired. Mostly tourist vibe but thats often the case in downtown Ojai on weekends. Obviously this is not Topa Topas fault though it likely helps boost their prices. Ill give the benefit of the doubt with inflation and all. Plus, it seems like the food is good, so maybe I should go on a weekday and give that a crack. Im a local and its known that weekends are a good time to avoid the thoroughfare.On weekends Its like the preppy kids in an 80s movie. Think Lamda Lamda Lamda vibes. Major Tri-Lams. Took a breather for a year or so since I had a less than courteous experience with tender last in a Topa Topa. Think Im done now.

If you’re going for the beer it’s fine—limited but nice selection. The food which came from Soma Soma is entirely another matter. I would say don’t bother.Burger meat was served raw on the inside and cooked —somewhat—on the outside. Clearly a violation of food safety guidelines, including “ Danger Zone” violations for cooking beef. This is what E.Coli & Food Botne Illness outbreaks are made of. I’m a Food & Nutrition Safety Specialist & Auditor and know this area well.Additionally, the prices are way over the top. Two stars is generous—but the brewery should’nt be circling g the drain just because of the food is.

Great little place for Topa Topa beer and a bite. Nice open layout with a big patio. Pet friendly outside which is nice. Only negative is the elevated food prices. Its high quality so you get what you pay for in a sense, but I think most people are looking for something a little less expensive.

Great atmosphere? Good location? Ive had Topa Topa retail brews and enjoyed them.So, I dont know, but we got a couple samples tried pretty much every beer and.....They tastes flat and watered down. All of them. Ive always enjoyed samplers at breweries before, we were excited, but not very impressed.

My boyfriend and I LOVE this place!Granted both times we’ve went we both got the burgers from Sama Sama!Their food is pretty delicious and always hits the spot!The pale ale 🍺 on tap is delicious!!! it’s smooth and not to heavy for a pale ale!I usually order the black lager and it’s tasty!Def a regular weekend spot

Great environment and great beer. The place isnt big but they do have a decent amount if seating. We didnt get to try the restaurant thats attached to the brewery but the menu looked very good. Service was fast and friendly.

This is an awesome brewery. The bartenders are awesome and super friendly. No one is pushy or trying to get you to drink more and just wants to hang out. So much fun and would definitely go back again the next time Im in Ojai!

I live in Ventura and this is my favorite brewery ( I love the one in Ventura too but this one is the perfect destination after riding the bike trail from Ventura to Ojai so I visit this one more often). Rotating beer selection, love to get a flight and try the new batches! The food at Sama Sama is amazing too. My one small criticism is the bike rack. It is obvious that a lot of thought went into the design and construction of the place and I appreciate it a lot but the bike rack is a little terrible. The metal part is too far away from the frame of the bike to lock up the frame, and most front wheels can be removed in seconds. Also, there is no way to stand up the bikes without a kickstand unless you lean/balance them together, and then they will usually fall down, putting very bad tension on the spokes of the wheels that are still surrounded by the metal bars. Im still giving it five stars because I love it so much. I can lock my bike somewhere up the block.

Made the mistake of getting rose, its the worst. The host is the least friendly person in Ojai. They charge $5 which they give you back in a voucher that you can chose when you order food, which is fine except all the starters are fried and/or greasy. The best thing about this place is the location.

Now the hottest place in town! The excellent beers brewed in Ventura now have a dedicated brewpub here in Ojai. Sharing space with the brewpub is Sama Sama, an Indonesian/Asian fusion kitchen from Santa Barbara, with whom Topa Topa has teamed up. Order and pick-up food at their window inside the brewpub. Sit indoors or on the lovely patio out front.

This place has solid beer (I got the saison in lieu of a Hefeweizen), a good looking menu including tots and chix+waffles (hipster Asian fusion will take over the world) and Brad behind the bar is a rare example of a veteran bar tender who seems genuinely laid back (and was actually very helpful). Ojais bar culture is a weird, special thing that I hope this place ultimately enhances instead of replaces. The polished interior and national market aspirations are maybe a little worrying, but their use of (what I believe is) the same turquoise tile as the rest of Main Street at least demonstrates an intention in the right direction. I would love to see some collabs with Valley farmers in the future and there are too many local artists to have blank walls but I’m excited to see how they develop and will definitely be back regularly.
