Did not expect to like this place so much, but it is actually addicting. The noodles are delicious, the sauce is great (Thai sauce), and it’s ready really fast. Located right next to UC. Parking may or may not be tricky. So worth it if your in the area.

I got the spinach noodles with the peanut sauce and chicken, and I was so happy eating this meal that I was actually sad when I finished my food. The peanut sauce was super creamy, it was delicious. The food also comes out super quick. Only draw back is there was a bit of a funky smell, but I don’t even care the food is that good.

I’ve been coming to Toss for a few years now and Im a big fan of the concept. It’s essentially a counter style service menu where you choose a noodle type, a sauce or soup base, and a protein that they then mix together and serve to you. The price here is great and the serving size is huge so it’s a fantastic deal.My two favorites are the Thai sauce or the laksa soup with the Hokkien noodles. Everything tastes delicious and is served fresh.This location is right in downtown Berkeley and super close to campus. Definitely worth a visit!

This is one of my go-to noodle spots in Berkeley. I love the customizable options for noodle, sauce, and protein. The amount of vegetables is always generous and the meal is filling. The service is incredibly quick and the meal was literally ready in minutes. The sauce coats the noodles perfectly, making each bite flavorful and delicious.

Stopped in for a noodle soup dish. I ordered the Laksa with hokkien noodle. I wouldnt say that its very authentic, but it was still pretty good. Portion size was generous but probably could have had more noodles.

Fast, cheap and tasty! What else do you want? Its a formula restaurant: you choose the type of noodles, the sauce and the protein. The red curry came in a separate bowl from the thick hokkien noodles, I thought the other (all-in-one) bowls had more food, but maybe it was just the arrangement. Again, super tasty.

Great place to eat noddles if you are gluten free. The ambience is relaxing, food has good size and it is close to BART station. Enough space between tables and additional space to sit around the place. Service was fast. Bathroom is clean. I like the rice noodles and the Japanese sauce.

Second time eating here was on 2/9/22 for dinner. Service, speed of kitchen and ambience/cleanliness was impeccable. However, I ended up with food poisoning after the meal. Besides the food poisoning, the hokkien noodles which I got Thai/Japanese style (extra spicy) was wayyyyy too sweet. Maybe it’s a personal preference but I have never had an Asian inspired noodle dish that was this sweet. Veggies were nicely seasoned and cooked. Prices weren’t cheap for their portion sizes. If it weren’t for the food poisoning, I’d give this place 3 stars. After a forgettable first visit and a less than desirable second visit, I doubt that I’ll be returning. Sorry for the 1 star :\\

I liked this place. The noodle choices are wide with rice, wheat, spinach, etc. The toppings good and the sauces tasty. They have a nice seating area and used cool little stainless cups for water. We ordered two bowls of noodles, one with tofu and one with pork. They came with lots of veggies and were freshly made to order. Also a side of satay chicken, which while not huge was just right for a side.

The FoodIn another chapter of explore the east bay, I found the Toss Noodle Bar noodle house. My friend wanted to get noodle for lunch so we ended up here (even though she got rice). My friend decided to order White Rice with Green Curry and Chicken. I got the Chef Special Toss Garlic Noodle and Kabocha Croquette. The croquette was interesting, with a squash filling fried and topped with (tonkatsu?) sauce. It has a nice crunch to the outer skin and the sauce was a good addition. My friends chicken green curry was pretty spicy to her, but seemed mild to me. The Toss Garlic Noodle I had was quite delicious and on point. The noodle had a nice chewy texture with a hint (not too much) garlic taste. The dish also had vegetables and protein (beef) with (not sure what) sauce. The beef was not bad, wish they gave a bit more, but it was still a well done dish. Their standard is design your own dish, so Ill have to return and try that sometime.The MiscellaneousThe noodle house is along the main road, a bit tucked to the back, with limited parking in front. The inside doesnt seem super spacious, but it has good depth and good amount of seating. They also have some interesting and simple art decor for their interior. The restaurant is set up in a way for self service, where you bus your own dishes. Condiments and water are ready accessible near order counter, along with dish return. The wait time for us wasnt too long since we order right when they open. So your mileage may vary during peak hours. Their menu focus on designing your own dish with Chef Specials and appetizers. They have a drink menu right outside their down and youll probably walk right by it. But They have a good selection of drinks and Yuzu Beer (need to try)? Would recommend checking this place out if you are in the mood for some noods.

Decided to try a new place my list and walked into Toss Noodle Bar. There were a few flies buzzing around which had me worried initially but they didnt distract from my lunch. Ordered the safe route with hokkein noodles, Chinese sauce base with chicken. Customer service was good. Food came out promptly and the perfect temperature. Noodles were nice and meaty, lots of veggies well too many for me honestly but they had the perfect work around. They provide the most amazing chop sticks I have ever seen in a restaurant which really completed the eating experience. Sauce was light and hit the spot. The value for money here is unbeatable. I love pasta bars. Will return.

A great spot for some Asian noodles or soup in the Downtown Berkeley area!I’d heard a lot of good things about the noodles here from people that had gone, so I decided to give it a try. I had a great experience!It’s very clean and organized inside, with ample and spacious seating available throughout.The menu is pretty simple but makes it easy to customized your bowls as you see fit with the noodles or rice, and then selecting either a sauce, soup, or curry, and then the toppings such as chicken.I decided to give the Hokkien noodles with the Japanese sweet and sour sauce a try. I thought they were great!! Nice and juicy noodles and the sauce added a great touch. All of the veggies and chicken added to it were fresh and tasted great as well.I additionally ordered one of the Thai iced teas, which was refreshing and tasted great! It also looked really cute in the cup that it came in, as seen in the photo.The service was quick and friendly, ordering at the front. I didn’t have to wait long at all for the bowls that we ordered to be ready!There’s sriracha and chili sauces available at a stand, as well as utensils, napkins, and water.A great spot to either eat lunch at or grab food to-go from!I thoroughly enjoyed and will be back.

Well-cooked veggies and noodles (3 Green Stars)Have never been to Toss Noodle Bar until two weeks ago, for a quick pre-movie dinner, and now I’m wondering why I haven’t been before. Well, I do prefer my tofu and noodles to be organic (and there are Thai places in Berkeley that use organic ingredients) but I’d be lying if I said I only ever eat organic food when out. (In an ideal world….) Bottom line: we both really liked the food here and found the service to be good and efficient. I had the basil eggplant (chef’s special) with spinach noodles and tofu and would definitely have it again. Eggplant is not easy to get right, but this batch was spot on. The Hokkien noodles with Japanese sauce and tofu was also nicely prepared.I’m also giving Toss Noodle Bar 3 out of 5 “Green Stars” for social and environmental impact, based on this:• Caters pretty well to vegans and vegetarians (although the menu could do with some more info on this).• Food is served on ceramic and the restaurant does a good job to minimize waste.• Seems to be a family-run business.• No information available on ingredient sourcing. As mentioned above, I’d prefer if my tofu was organic (most non-organic soy is sprayed with bee-killing neonics, for example). Good food that takes great hot and good cold. I didn’t take a fresh food pic but I got the Hokkien noodles with soy sauce and beef (accommodated for my allergies too). If you order pick up, you have to go to the counter to pick it up (no text notification) and present your photo ID and your card to get your food. Attached is a pic of my leftovers! Also the portions are HUUUGE so the price is great.

One of my favorite fusion Thai food. I would order toss every single day is it was up to me. The quite little restaurant is located on Shattuck Avenue. You have to stand in line to order the food and then find a spot to sit. The service varies depending on how busy the restaurant it. It is usually busy. You dont need to make a reservation for this place.But the food is so so so good.! I usually get the Hokkien noodles with a mixture of Thai and Malay sauce with chicken and I ask for it to be made extra extra spicy! but they can do varying spices.This place is great for dinner with friends, dinner on your own and take out!Everything is good here!

We were looking for soup on a Thursday night. We couldnt believe how difficult it was to find soup or even a restaurant thats open past 8:30 pm. This place was perfect. We created a bowl of soup - hokkien noodles, clear soup, and chicken. The waitress brought it to our table; nice and hot with good flavor. Everything we saw being delivered to customers looked good. Theres so many choices in designing your own meal. Stop in and try one; you wont be disappointed.

Great food and huge portions! I think I could have fed 4 people with my laksa soup (Took home half of it). The default is to start your order with rice or noodles, but you can also order without, just ask.The restaurant is a simple space with self serve water and napkins and extra sauces. Delicious food with lots of different options. Interior design is amongst the most creative in Berkeley! Nothing but mid. Me and my sub went this noodle place and got the Hokkien, clear soup, and beef. Maybe it was because we got clear soup but the overall meal was very underwhelming. The soup did very little to add to the meal. Additionally my other sub who got the vegetarian option was thoroughly disappointed. She felt her tofu was flavorless.

I neglected to review Toss when I was in Berkeley a few months ago, but it was so good that I thought to do so now. The format of the menu and informal service should be obvious from the pictures of the menu and interior. I went here in November with a friend one evening. I did enjoy the choose your own noodle option on the menu, and I liked the spinach noodles I ordered. But someone taking or cooking the orders must have been having an off day because they messed up on BOTH of our orders. I ordered the coconut shrimp outside of my noodles, and a waitress brought to our table what I thought was the shrimp. I ate one and dipped it in the served sauce - only for a waitress to rush back to our table and take the dish away. Apparently, I was served the fried octopus instead of the coconut prawns! They brought the shrimp to me shortly after. I can let that slide, the octopus tasted pretty good, and it had better sauce. But then a server brought my friends dish over and my friend is a strict vegetarian - and they served her the wrong noodle dish with meat in it! She didnt make the mistake a big deal, and again, they brought her the correct dish shortly after the mistake. But these events, the mistakes have led to my mixed review for the restaurant.

This is a really high quality Noodle bar, they also have fried rice. The quality and selection is quite nice, not too much nor too little. The price is around 10 dollars, however it can be easily shared with your friends. It is a very nice upscale quaint place with plenty of indoor seating. Would recommend if you want quick high quality noodles or rice.

The food was so good!I appreciate how patient the staff was when I went in to order. The decor was great and they told me a little about each type of noodle option. I ended up getting the glass noodle with a Thai peanut sauce (the person taking my order helped me shouse based on textures and flavors I like). It was absolutely delicious. The place was nice and relatively quiet considering how many people were inside dining. I also love that they recycle. I highly recommend Toss. Its also right next to the theater so it was the perfect spot in between a group staff trip for a double feature.

The best noodles Ive ever had, and a must try in Berkeley. You have to get Hokkien noodles and from there all 4 flavors are good, with my preference being the combo of Thai and Malay. The place is small so seating is tough sometimes, but its very nice to sit and eat there if you get the chance. Highly recommend!

One of my favorite spots in Berkeley. The Hokkien noodles always taste so fresh and I love how many options there are to customize my noodles. My favorite thing to get is the spicy Thai basil chicken. The chicken is minced which makes it very well seasoned and goes terrifically with the hokkien.

The very first time I went, I had a bad experience! I asked for a veg tofu soup noodles, but got a chicken one! They apologized and refunded the amount! Though I was hesitant to go again, I went. The quality of food here has gone down a lot from its initial heyday. The different sauces have blended into a very distinct and similar bland and unseasoned sauce. Noodles seem boiled rather than wok fried like they use to be. I really hope the quality improves back to what it once was, it was one of my favorite go to spots.

I used to really like this place but this last time I ordered my favorite dish (Hokien noodle with Japanese sauce and pork) I was really disappointed. It smelled like dog food, tasted really weird, and the pork did not have the right taste or texture. I dont know if the chef changed or of the ingredients have changed but Im really sad that the flavors of the dishes Ive had have changed (and not for the better). But the service is good and they were willing to give me a different dish when I asked.So its the next day and both my boyfriend and I are feeling sick to the stomach. The prices are reasonable, the staff are friendly, it arrived at my table before I was getting rushed during lunch, and the food is great. I like that they have a help yourself station for water, much better than having to wait for someone to fill your glass.About the food: You build your meal the way you like it, so each time you eat there its however best matches your mood. Choose different noodles, protein, and sauce. Each time its a new meal. My wife and I had different sauces (Malay and Japanese) and different noodles (Hookien and Thin Rice) and liked out own, and each others food. We also had the coconut friend shrimp, though for six dollars I would have liked four instead of three - but the flavor on those was good as well.

Great food. Ive tried both their noodle and fried rice. What can I say, the quality is amazing. Ordering here is straightforward (you basically decide what kind of noodle/rice you want with what kind of sauce and protein), but if its your first time here, and are a bit confused definitely try the Hokkien noodle with the Thai sauce. The service here is very fast, and their staff is friendly. Inside, they have a fair amount of seatings. Their decoration is very hip/modern (e.g. they have mason jar glasses). Their portions and their prices are fair (not too big, and not too expensive). These are all the reasons that I keep coming back here. Go Toss!

Waiting for the food. So far the atmosphere quality has gone down. The guy at the register was not very nice. He had a look his face that me and Ariel were below him. His only job that we could see was taking orders and he didnt seem to care if anyone placed an order. This is supposed to be casual dinning. They dont even have waiters here. Then when the woman gave us our food she also was not nice. She just put the food down and walked away. She gave us each others dishes and didnt care. The food was not what it used to be. It was really salty but it didnt used to be.Its not the places fault but the guy behind us was talking really loud on the phone with head phones in. My office used to be right next to this place so I cam here all the time. They have a fantastic selection of noodle and rice dishes with various meat/sauce/soup combinations. You really cant go wrong with any decisions you make, since they execute on all of the different dishes very well. Some of my favorites are the Hokkien noodles in Malay sauce or the Brown rice with green curry. Love coming here with my man to share a bowl and a sake before heading to the movies right next door. The service is very fast. The only thing I would suggest is for them to have more sauce carts or better, one for each table to add some spice to your bowl. They only had one in the whole restaurant and we had to ask another table if we could borrow it, the sauces werent full either.Another tip, be careful when pouring your hot sake. It was scalding! I had to make a little napkin jacket so I didnt burn my fingers.

This place is perfect for Noodle lovers like me who eat instant ramen noodles in the midst of the night. You can choose exactly what you want in your dish, the type of noodles, meat, and sauce. Its impossible to dislike your dish since youre the one who chooses the ingredients. Theres also rice dishes for those who prefer it. The stir fried noodles come with lots of vegetables and egg. Another foggy day at Berkeley.I was heading home, looking for something warm to eat for dinner, when I stumbled upon Toss Noodle Bar. I hadnt heard much about it, but since it was pretty crowded, I figured it was a good place to stop by.My intuition was correct. Toss Noodle Bar is kind of like Chipotle for Asian noodles dishes. First, you get to choose the kind of noodle you want. Then you choose whether you want a soup, a curry or a thicker broth. Finally, you get to choose the type of protein for your noodles.For my first time, I decided to get the Laksa with rice noodles and beef and I must say that it was VERY good. I think it probably depends on what you get, but my noodle soup was EXTREMELY hot when it came to the table, so I burned my tongue... but I should have probably been a little more patient.

I want to rate this place 1.5 but I will be nice and give it a 2. 1 is a little harsh.At first you come into this place thinking that all these items are pretty well priced for what it seems you will be getting. At least get them from costco if youre trying to save money.The main entrees were not much better, although my girlfriends tasted much better than mine. I got the green curry with chicken. Watery, straight out of packaging flavor. Enough said.My girlfriend got the spicy flavor something with brown rice. It tasted good, but again, it tasted like I just took 3 random things out of my fridge, heat them up and put them on a plate.Please. upgrade your ingredients.
