Staff was awesome, food was great. I though that monkey brain was gnarly good. Rolls/fish were tasty, entrees as well. Small place but it was clean. Nice lil sushi spot.
Boyfriend took me here for dinner. Service was so great. Our waiter didnt like seeing us waiting for the rolls we ordered, so he brought us miso soup on the house (it was amazing) and then our rolls arrived. We went with Black Dragon, Malinda and Ocean and each was absolutely exquisite. The flavors were amazing and the presentation was excellent. This may be the only sushi place in town, but thats because you only need the best.
So happy to find vegan options at this restaurant! The sushi is delicious. You should definitely try the Taylor Roll if you enjoy sweet potato tempura. The lettuce & tofu spring rolls are a great choice if youre looking for something light and fresh. Staff is very friendly as well. If youre in Crescent City, I recommend visiting Toyama Sushi!
The service is great. Because they are the only sushi place in town, they could have decided to be the kind of place that lets their standards slide but they havent. The sushi really is good...the rolls are fantastic and the presentation is beautiful. The chef really take pride in his work and it shows. He will sometimes come to your table when youre done to make sure that you enjoyed your meal. Really wonderful experience.
Pho was great and so was the ninja roll. Sat at the bar and really enjoyed chatting with the staff.

Great sushi place. Don’t be discouraged by the rating, its very slow, family owned and only few people working on busy days. It took about an hour to get what we have ordered but it was delicious. Bug portions and fresh fish.

Two stars for our waiter. He was friendly and on point. The food on the other hand was off. The rice used in the sushi was old, the ginger was brownish. Everything tasted like it was last weeks leftovers. I wont waste my money here again.
Ordered chicken fried rice, nothing was browned to indicate it had been fried, veggies looked like they were dropped out of a bag, hot sushi combo was meh. Nothing really fresh about it at all. Less than average quality overall.
Gross! Went here because my husband wanted sushi. He ordered the spicy combo and I ordered the yakisoba and some tempura shrimp. Shrimp was decent but the sweet chili sauce was disgusting and Noodles were literally the worst I’ve ever had, did not eat. Horrible flavor. My husband said his sushi was gross and didn’t eat much of it. He’s not a picky eater either. Hope we don’t get food poisoning! The service was good, friendly guys, but we would not recommend.
This place makes the best sushi Ive ever had. The customer service was outstanding and they went above and beyond to make our experience wonderful. Really nice and friendly people. Definitely one of my to spots to eat! If I could give more stars I would.

Sushi was very good. Our rolls looked like art, fish was fresh and good quality. Service was not great, place was fairly clean. There was some tables that clearly had not been cleaned right away, our booth had dirty seats and the floor was dirty. Server forgot our drinks and we had to ask again when getting our appetizer. But all in all the food was great and the sushi guy was really nice.
I had given this place a 5 plus star review a cupl years ago. Since I have eaten there like 3 time 2 take out one inside. The level of service is ridiculous he is rude and unhelpful. The cook well his sushi is not as flavorful as before fact I tryed 6 rolls for my self all were bad then from friends with me bad.. avocado salad is my favorite yet not enough dressing so I ask for more and they squirted orange sauce on it. . by gosh its a vinaigrette not a mayo dressing that taste like fish. Last but not least they said they dont use MSG yet I was sick for 2 days Im severely allergic. I will go to Brookings from now on ..
The waiter is amazing! All the time he’s smiling and keeping everything clean! The chef is incredible and fast always been so nice with everyone! The service is really good! The food is delicious and fresh QUALITY, it’s my favorite restaurant in Crescent City, the prices are reasonable!I love to go there because the vibe is really good, quiet and peaceful, always when I’m stressful I like to go there, enjoy and reset my day! 2 starts only for the speed at which I get my food and the price for small town. Service and support are extremely lackluster. Every month I order the exact same thing prepared the exact same way (no avocado), and when I get home to actually eat my one Sumo Roll it has avocado EVERY TIME. Today I decided to actually call and request a refund, to which they replied Id have to drive all the way back because theyd have to give me cash instead of refunding to my card (not sure why they said their card refund takes 1-3 months). Needless to say I wont return.

The waiter was not friendly, and we waited over an hour for our food. We were the only people sitting down at a table, too. We watched several people come in and leave with food for takeout, and we didn’t even get any appetizers until an hour after sitting down. The kids started getting antsy because they were hungry and bored. The sushi was mediocre. I definitely prefer the Sushi Noodle House in Brookings. They didn’t have taro drinks or baked green mussels which were both on the menu. They put way too much cream cheese and everything was oddly salty. Sushi is my favorite food and I’ve been to sooo many different sushi places (I’m from SoCal) so it’s kind of disappointing that one of the only sushi restaurants near me sucks. I think the only reason people think this sushi is good is because it’s the only sushi place in this area. I think most of all the waiter made us uncomfortable.
This place blew my mind! We are vegetarian and ordered the 3 veggie rolls on the menu. They did not disappoint and allowed me to get my sushi groove on. I thought after being vegan/vegetarian Id never have good sushi again. Now, I know there is at least one place that will fill that void. Thanks for the great food! Just fyi, service is a bit slow but we rate the food ;). Great food trumps speed any day!

Extremely disappointing. I ordered a Boston Roll and it was the most pathetic sushi roll I have ever seen. The very first piece I ate had an entire shrimp tail hidden in the middle. The avocado was old and brown (more so than it should have been if it was freshly made sushi) It was so loosely wrapped that it was impossible to use chop sticks and it ended up being more of a sushi salad than anything. If you are wanting good sushi I recommend driving the extra 30 minutes north to Pacific Sushi in Brookings, or even going to Fred Meyer and getting theirs.

This was my first time eating here, after all the raving reviews I wanted to try it. I’m a sushi lover and I have a couple absolute favorites, but I’m not not a picky eater. I’m more like a Hoover vacuum.Anyway, the sushi was really good. I actually probably would have enjoyed it more if it had been what I ordered. I called in and asked them if they had what I wanted available. They had a similar roll for $13.95. I asked them to add jalapeño in it, add some sauce on top, and not put lemon slices on there. They said sure, it will be done in 30 minutes. Got there at 35 minutes. After I got there they acknowledged me, and said they were still working on it. Turns out that they were working on 5 others. I waited an additional 30 minutes. He finally comes over and charges my card, and it’s $20.91... That’s not including a drink or anything. The roll that’s supposed to be $13.95 is $7 more? For adding jalapeños? BS. $16-$17 is acceptable.Continuing on, I just wanted my food at this point: and scrambled to get back to my hotel room so I can finally eat dinner at 8:30pm. Just to open the damn box and see that they never added the jalapeños that they charged me $7 for! I’m frustrated, defeated, furious. I would love to eat there again, but after the WORST customer service I’ve ever had. I probably won’t, it would take less time for me to drive up to brookings. They had better sushi anyway. I felt like calling to complain, but I highly doubt they would do anything. After that I would honestly just like my money back. Or at least the $7 they overcharged me after waiting a total of 1hr 10min 👌🏼I’m fine if you mess up, but they messed up in all 3 areas of a restaurant business. And overcharging someone is stupid, but it’s flat robbery if you don’t even give me what I asked for 🤦🏼♀️
We just left there after waiting 45 minutes and our order wasn’t even started. There were only six people in the restaurant. After 30 minutes we were starving and asked at least for the miso soup we had ordered in addition to the three sushi rolls. There was one chef and they had several to go orders (all in styrofoam they were focused on) but there was no warning or communication as to our long wait. (no alcohol either) the food looked good but we were not able to enjoy it so we finally put down money for the miso and left very disappointed.
We went to Toyama Sushi for a late lunch while visiting from Oregon and we each ordered from the Lunch Special menu. We all LOVE sushi and were impressed with the larger portions they have here. The service was quick and friendly. The food was all very delicious! No complaints.
Technically, I would not even rate one, its more like a negative 10, but I guess people would like the food. The service was bad. I get that one person was working but still, at least tried to do your job. I got my appetizers, I didnt get my food. It didnt came at all. I checkout. And took it to go instead. Thanks, but no thanks
I am furious. I placed an order FIVE HOURS in advance to be picked up at 7:15 because I had worked a 12 hour day and I hadn’t got to eat and knew I wouldn’t so I wanted it to be ready on the way. I got there, and my order wasn’t ready. I was shocked and replied “I placed my order Five hours ago how is it not ready” to which a grumpy man replied “well I have 3 more orders ahead of yours”. I sat and waited and waited and my food was not ready for another hour. I didn’t get an apology, an explanation as to why my order I placed so long ago couldn’t have been made when you had five hours to do it. If you are lucky enough to be open right now you should be grateful and treating customers the best you can making sure you get things done on time not being snappy and rude towards the people that are keeping you in business during all this. Do not recommend to anyone.
Very tasty, decent sushi place to have in such a small town. Lots of options. They also offer a perfectly satisfying pho noodle soup too! I once ordered over $150 worth of sushi for a party one time and they happened to have this lovely platter setup for the rolls that really made the presentation wonderful. They do get busy in the evenings, but thats ok, good food takes time :)

Place was nice. Got the chicken teriyaki and there was barley any chicken and the sauce was super light and bland. Had more onion than chicken. But you get a huge thing of rice I guess that makes it $14 🤔

My friends and I go here at least 1-3 times a week. Today we came in to a waiter weve never seen and she was very rude. Asked us if we wanted to sit in the front both because it was bigger?! Are you kidding me? I might be fat but im not rude and there was over half a foot between myself and the table i was pissed. When we said thank you she would ignore us. Was rude the whole time.Amazing food, but to the waitress TODAY. learn some manners please. We were always excited and never have left disappointed until today.

Whats worse than slow service?..No service. Walked in and told by the two servers that the chef was not in and had no idea when he would be back. When youre open to business you should anticipate customers.Just go anywhere else. They are not very professional and seem to not want to earn a paycheck.
My husband and I were passing through town and stopped here. I had the chicken udon soup which was superb!!! The broth was light, had a lot of fresh herbs and spices in it, fresh vegetables, and chicken that actually tasted like chicken instead of, “what the hell am I eating!” One of the best Udon noodle soups that I’ve tried!!! My husband had a new dish. It was a vegetable with peanut sauce (he omitted the tofu). Lots of FRESH veggies, a large portion of rice compared to what most restaurants give you, with a unique peanut sauce. It got better and better with each bite!!! The service was excellent as well. You can tell they had a lot of pride in what they do. I love that!!! If I come back in town again, I will for sure stop here. Great find!!!
Went in july 2019, it was great. We have gone a couple times this year, most of which beig chances to redeem themselves giving them the benefit of the doubt. Its honestly just not that good any more.They mess up the orders every time, even simple orders. Its always a long wait even when empty. My kids yakisoba has been burnt pretry bad. We wont be returning after this last one.
I pass through Crescent City often during visits to the Redwood parks. I was sad to discover that my favorite Thai restaurant had gone out of business, so I began searching for sushi.Dont let the strip mall storefront look dissuade you. Service was prompt and friendly, and the selection has something for any lover of sushi. My friend and I ordered several rolls between us. Everything was fresh and delicious (the shrimp tempura roll was especially good--highly recommended!).My friend and I are from Seattle, and know good sushi. Toyama hit the spot; well be back again!
Id give zero stars if it were an option. We stopped in here for some some sushi tonight (7/13/2020) and wound up incredibly displeased. We ordered 3 simple rolls, 2 nigiri, and some sunomono... Well, we got no sunomono, all 3 of the rolls were done wrong, 2 of them were missing the salmon that was supposed to come on them, and one was missing the avocado and tuna. We were staying .2 miles away, so we called and offered to bring the food back so the manager could see the mistakes. First, he yelled at me and told me I ordered wrong and never asked for sunomono, then when I asked even if that were true, can you explain the missing fish?. He got all upset and started yelling in a different language. If youre near this sushi place and youre hungry, go to the McDonalds in the same lot, your chances of getting what you ordered are much better.
This place goes thru new owners constantly. Im grateful that the ONE sushi place we have in our tiny town keeps finding a way to prevail! The main sushi 🍣 chef that is there now is a cool guy! Current date is 12/26/18. I FINALLY got someone to LISTEN and get quail eggs for quail egg shooters! That is a huge upside. That being said, the staff is stuffy compared to the chef. They hardly give any ice in a glass of water. You can ask 3 times for slices of Lemmon for the water and they will continue to act like they didnt hear you. I feel theyre a bit penny pinching cheap. When the original owners had it (when I moved here 4 years ago) the chef made us stuff to try and didnt charge us! Its how I found things I love to this day! If we want an amazing sushi experience, we head to Brookings. But! Again I say, glad theyre here for when were in a hurry and need a quicky, minor sushi experience.
I highly recommend the Coco roll with yellowtail, salmon, jalapeño, topped with a sliver of lemon, so delicious. We also had the angry bird which was very good, but a bit heavy since its fried. We also enjoyed the eel avocado roll. We will be back, very nice service as well! :)
These extremely nice folks created two gorgeous sushi platters for my friends memorial in Brookings, Oregon. They went above and beyond to help me out. And-- I had to do it all by phone and Beyond Menu from Honolulu Hawaii. Great job!
First off, the food was amazing. The only reason Im not able to rate them higher, is that I waited almost 2 hours for my food after ordering. It was very unfortunate to see them so short staffed.

My husband and I have dinner here many times while visiting the area. Beautiful work from the sushi chef, fresh, beautiful ingredients. The rolls are large so easy to share, so get a few.
Gave me different roll than I ordered, two of the same roll, my girlfriends spring rolls were missing ingredients from the menu and the Vietnamese coffee was boba. Plus the staff wasnt friendly or helpful, I wouldnt recommend this place .
It looks like food but without flavor. Curry rice...appears to be stir fried rice with curry powder, not curry sauce. Sushi rice is just ordinary sticky rice without the proper preparation. In this modern age, one can learn to make better food from watching YouTube videos than what they serve here. My advice to the owner of this establishment is to do some basic food tasting and watch some YouTube videos on how to prepare Japanese food. If youre going to charge full price, your customers deserve better.
There were only 4 people in the restaurant and the waiting time exceeded all our expectations. We waited 25 mins for 2 pieces of Tuna Sashimi and 35 mins for 2 Philadelphia rolls! In some rolls salmon was missing and instead they put huge, no not huge, gigantic piece of avocado that I couldnt even fit in my mouth!
Very good and healthy food and friendly staff Id recommend this for families and maybe a husband and wife that want to have a nice little meal together discuss business or whatever you want to talk about nice pleasant environment.

We got 4 rolls with 2 drinks and it was pretty cheap. $29 including tip. This place is really good and they have a bar where you can watch them make the rolls.
Updated 2019: food was better, they got a new menu and stuff comes out like it should! They were under staff the one guy was way to busy.New staff has no clue what they are doing.. should make a new menu of stuff they know how to cook..
If you like average tasting sushi this place is for you. But then again, what can one expect from a small town with average taste. Noodles and rice tasted old.

Food is pretty good but the wait times given are never accurate. They told me 30 minute wait time for my order and when I arrived 30 minutes after I placed the order I had to wait another 15 minutes before mine was ready.
I there waiting 20 mins, another couple came in ordered and they got their food, soup AND a to go box before we even got our meal. We left before we even got our food. We didnt have enough time to wait that long. If no stars was an option I would pick it. Unacceptable.
Despite only having two people working, service was reasonably quick. Sushi was expensive but delicious.
Although the food is above the standards of Crescent City, the wait time is atrocious. I have never waited less than an hour for carry out. Do yourself a favor and call ahead and triple whatever wait time they give you before you even come in.

We left without ordering because they didnt have real crab for the Crab salad (only for the sushi) and no shrimp for the Tampori (again only for the sushi).

Their vegetarian options were less than what I expected. The tempura AAC roll was delicious. The chicken teriyaki was dry but the flavor was good.

Sushi places are rare in this area, so we are fortunate that Toyama Sushi is top notch. I moved here from a place with many sushi restaurants, and Toyama is as good (or better) than any of them.

Miso soup was ok needed salt. I got the lunch combo that is supposed to come with soup and salad and I only got the soup. The chicken was over cooked. Not worth $11.

Just order take out here, I got california roll which I believe was hard to screw up, but they did. The rice was too watery, it will make Japanese cried if they see this work of art.

Price is to high for the quality of the product they offer. Beef and shrimp pho are just terrible.
1 star because they told me 20minutes for online order and eneded up waiting over 45 minutes. Poor service.

2023-07-04 01:40:43My spouse and I came in here after a day of hiking and we ordered so much food (three appetizers and two special rolls). Everything was absolutely amazing! Especially the monkey brains appetizer (fried avocado with tuna). I would definitely come here again!

2023-05-27 23:46:22The dine in experience is definitely better than the take out. The rolls are amazing either way, but today was the first time my husband and I ate at the restaurant. We are very picky about sushi, and Toyama has definitely stepped up their game. Prices are reasonable and portions are good!! We decided to try all new items, so we got chow mein, and the following rolls: turtle, sweetheart, & sexy beach. All VERY good!!! The turtle roll tasted so fresh with those lemon slices, the sweetheart roll was perfectly sweet, and the sexy beach roll was surprisingly delicious 💕 I didnt get pictures of the turtle or sweetheart before we broke into them lol but I did get one of the sexy beach. They tasted even better with the seaweed & cucumber salad, and the radishes!! We cannot wait until our next date night to try out more items on the menu.

2023-04-08 09:32:00The food was really good. I had the shrimp chow mein. I got there a little early so I was the only one there. I started to wonder if it was because I was early or if there was another reason. People started showing up a little later so it wasnt another reason. Never know with an empty restaurant.. Glad I stayed and Ill probably be back.

2023-07-15 20:23:23This is my second time going in, the food is really good! Hot tea tastes great, the peanut butter sauce for the spring rolls is incredible, and the rolls are done really well. Compare their prices to boat house or pacific sushi and this is the place to be. I really think their food tastes better than at pacific as well. Good job guys, thank you!

2023-09-01 22:56:33Absolutely the WORST I have ever had. I dont know what was in the sushi rolls that we had, but it wasnt a solid fish of any kind. It looked like it was squeezed out of a tube, with the consistency of wet dog food. We wanted to get Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura in addition to the sushi roll, but they said the vegetables were already cut up too small for that. The shrimp tempura was straight out of a frozen food box you can buy at any grocery store. The entire experience was AWFULL....DONT GO THERE!

2022-05-07 04:29:17Lovely people, waiter was friendly and attentive, but the food was not great. Got the chicken udon soup and the chicken was pale and rubbery. The soup itself was passable in the way instant noodles are. And the vegetables and add-ins were pretty bland.Another person got salmon which was firm and chewy. And an order of vegetable noodle soup had rather haphazardly chopped vegetables, with cabbages still clumped and wilted.Cant comment on the sushi, but Id recommend avoiding the entrees.

2023-04-16 20:59:29Reviews scared me. But our waiter was super friendly and gave us places to explore on our trip the food was prompt and quick. Was it the best sushi I’ve ever had? No. But it wasn’t bad it tasted good. It is a little expensive but not too bad we paid + tip 62 for four premium roles. (We always tip well.) like I said our server was super friendly and chatty and was great to talk to.

2022-09-05 21:08:50Worst sushi I ever had. Aside from the fact that this was extremely expensive, there is nothing worst in the terms of sushi I ever tasted. It was so goss, we threw everything thing away. Not only did they make me wait twice as much time as they said, they tried ripping us off and giving us less than we ordered. I’m furious I did spend a dime in that place. Never again. Stay away. Be warned! Nuff said. RIP
