True Food Kitchen in Newport Beach

I visited True Food Kitchen, a seasonal restaurant and scratch bar that is rooted in nutritional science and uses wholesome, intentionally-sourced ingredients. The atmosphere was very nice with high ceilings and an open concept with a view of the working kitchen. I ordered the edamame guacamole, which was good and came with umami crackers and Chef Matts Magical Dust. I also tried the ramen, which was a bit strange because it had clear noodles instead of egg noodles. I guess thats healthier, ha? The burgers were disappointing though. They were both burnt and dry, even though we asked for medium and well done (kid version). I expected better quality from a place that claims to serve up big flavor and a taste of the unexpected. Overall, it was a nice experience, but the food was not that good. I was very disappointed because I had some of these dishes at a friends party and they were much better. Maybe it was an off day for the kitchen. I would give it another try, but not anytime soon

I’ve been coming here with my parents for years. First time for brunch, and it was awesome, as expected! Great food, outstanding service and perfect location.

Amazing food and great atmosphere. It was a bit slow on a Saturday compared to their other locations but service was amazing. The lasagna is great, but they really shouldnt be skimping on the pasta, you will need a side and starter to get full. The pizzas are a great size for 1.5 people. With a starter or bowl it is a perfect size. The food and cocktails taste great and are pretty healthy and fresh.

Fantastic food and service. Everything tasted very fresh and flavorful. Loved that they had multiple gluten friendly options, including desserts.

Our server, Alex, was friendly, informative and on top of things - loved him! And the food was great! Loved that, too! Located in the Fashion Island parking lot near Macys. Perfect for an early dinner and a movie at the Regal Cinema right across the street!

I received the impression that I had gained knowledge from this dinner. Ive never been anywhere like this, even though it sounds unusual, because I dont particularly enjoy eating well. However, after eating there, I felt better. I didnt really need to eat dinner, but I still feel full. I feel fantastic and dont feel heavy at all. This location made me feel content in a way that caused me to pause and consider whether I should reevaluate what and how much I ought to be putting into my body.Service was only passably good. The restaurants atmosphere is really trendy and contemporary, and the food was exceptional. They have a really long bar, and it seems like a fun place to hang out.

The service from our waiter was slow, but the food came out fast. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the cool air. We were even entertained by a couple of birds eating leftovers off a table that people had just gotten up from. Everything we ate was absolutely incredible. We all chose gluten-free menu items due to one of us having celiac disease, and she just about cried with us all being able to enjoy great food that was gluten-free together. The Margarita Pizza with gluten-free crust and hummus with gluten-free pita bread were so good we ordered another of each. The salmon was delicious. The peppers were great. The lasagna was good. The ice cream and cookies were good too.

The food is always so fresh the ambiance is nice as well. This place is one of my favorites for a girls luncheon or date night.The food is delicious although the portions small.I ordered the fall flat bread and spaghetti squash chicken with tomato sauce.Service was in key.

Good healthy foods, salads, vegetarian options. Amazing service. We sat at the bar and Eric was the best server ever! I wish they had an unsweetened match late.
