Good food: we tried the calamari, potstickers, chicken satay, curry and we were happy with how they tasted. The place is huge and the service was good. It wasn’t busy when we came. The price is a little on the high side, but expected in the Berkeley area.

I was out dancing with a friend, when we both realized we were feeling famished! As luck would have it, this restaurant was only a block away. As it turned out, we both love Thai food, so we decided to give it a try. Even though it was fairly late, the place was still open. It didnt look like much from the outside, and the interior is simple. But everything was clean and orderly, we were seated right away, and the woman who took our order was helpful and friendly. We ordered the pumpkin curry with chicken, and the emerald salmon curry. Both were delicious. I would definitely come back here again and highly recommend.

Pretty decent food and service. Food used to be more reasonably priced but now have gone way up. I recognize its probably due to rising costs all over that area but Ive never seen any other resturant in this area make a can of soda 4 dollars.I think you can get more food for a better price elsewhere. We spent around 50 and still werent full.

I was visiting Berkley for a day and came across this Thai restaurant. The food tastes so close to original Thai taste. We ordered noodles, pad se-ew, pad kee mao and tofu stir fried vegetable. They were delicious! Springrolls were crispy and not hard rock. The atmosphere and decor was simple which i dont mind as long as the foods taste great! I really recomend to check this place out. Its so under dog😊 the waiter was so helful to us and recommended tourists place. Thank you!

I got a recommendation from a local grocery owner for vegan Thai. I arrived at peak dinner time. The restaurant seemed overwhelmed with to go orders and a partially full dining room. The server was slow to take our order. I was waiting with a menu in front of me for a long period of time. The server was very polite and continuously refilled my water.This restaurant has chili trays here for the tables! The food was delicious and none was left.Lastly, just be warned service is mediocre. If you can live with that and a longer wait time, then youll be fine. If thats not your bag, you may want to skip this restaurant until youve got time.

Been coming since they opened. Food was not as good as I remembered, my guests concurred. Larb much too salty.Service was fine. I rated down the atmosphere, since it was super annoying with Christmas carols and videos in early November. Couldnt wait to get out of there. Disappointing.

The Pad Thai is SOOOO TASTY! It’s very flavorful. It’s the thin noodle kind, but they give you good portions. I got it for to go. They charged me $14.30 with the chicken, which is a VERY good price compared to what I usually pay in Berkeley/Oakland.They are also OPEN LATE, which is great news because there’s only about 3 in all Berkeley that open late. I still see people at this hour(11:30pm). The cashier was very helpful with all my questions too :)

First time here. Super hungry from getting off the plane from Vegas. Mask AND vaccination card AND ID are required 02/18/2022. We ordered to go since we were hungry and we dont have vac cards and masks.Ordered beef salad. Beef was burnt and tasted bitter. Egg rolls were basic. Chicken skewers were basic.They wouldnt even let us use the restroom even tho we ordered food to go. Probably wont be back.

Good fried food. All the meat is overcooked and did not taste fresh. The veggies on the spring role were not fresh. The noodles were overcooked and clumping/falling apart. Everything was super sweet - no balance with spicy sour and bitter.

The food was not bad, but not good either. The fried chicken was not that flavorful or crispy, and the meat was thin. Indoors there is nice seating and a cool Tuk tuk vehicle. Outdoors scenery is less inviting. I would not eat here again, and would not recommend it to a friend either.

Hello?!?!To respond to you:Yes, you made a refund when we came back to show you that you made a wrong charge of the order that we didnt receive. I was expecting that as the owner, you were more apologetic and not combative when I spoke to you calmly last night. You even said, “you can talk whatever you want…” isn’t that rude???You’re obviously the one who’s at fault, yet you’re sounding too defensive. It’s the peanut sauce for me the taste is beyond authentic. The chicken potstickers and spring rolls are perfect no other way to put it. Their cucumber salad is super tasty and I seriously need the peanut sauce recipe. Love Tuk Tuk Thai.

I wish I could give zero stars the chicken satay tasted like it was old and rubbery with very little chicken the pineapple rice tasted old I ordered online threw door dash but for some reason it won’t let post a review we also ordered cucumber salad and peanut sauce and it also tasted old im so disgusted and disappointed that I wasted myCafe on low quality old food .I normally go to Racha Cafe in berkekey on telegraph st but it was closed yesterday they always have consistently delicious fresh hot food of high quality so skip tuk tuk Thai and go to Rasha cafe it’s not as fancy as tuk tuk Thai but looks can be deceiving it’s nice on the outside but the food is old

I never leave bad reviews. I go right to the manager. But I don’t think there was one. The place is absolutely filthy. The fried spring rolls were simply greasy fried dough-virtually no veggies. The pumpkin curry had no pumpkin, no flavor and has slimy soured carrots. The crab fried rice was also soured. The duck & rice was so basic but at least edible. Rice noodles tasteless. Maybe it once was great but omg. Don’t bother. Also…. It was empty on a Friday night? That should tell you all you need to know.

We got take out last week since the pricing was impressive and havent tried them yet. I was skeptical of the bad reviews on Yelp but excellent reviews on DoorDash and Google, but I know not to trust Yelp! Im glad I was right, because we loved it! Im a tough critic on panang curry and it is now one of my favorites due to the taste and variety of vegetables added. I always want more vegetables and they didnt skimp on the chicken either. The drunken noodles were also very good, just a bit plain, not spicy to us at all. Just added some siracha and it was great. The fried rice was tasty, very standard as it should be. Great portions and pricing. The time it took was also less than 30 minutes so they may be hurting for business right now... Help them by ordering! Totally recommended.

Disappointing portion size and service for the price, compared to the myriad of other Thai restaurants literally in walking & biking distance.I got the Coconut Milk Noodle Soup with chicken. While I could taste the coconut and some acidity,the flavor fell mostly flat. Moreover, the soup was lukewarm, there was barely any chicken, and there was only one waitress actively serving 8 tables, a continuing stream of to-go orders and answering calls.Overall, passable and maybe worth a try, but there are many other options in the area.

Online ordered 2 lunch combos on the website. Website REQUIRED selection of brown rice option for an additional $1.50 and an email gave a confirmation that the order would be ready in 30 minutes. Upon arrival at Tut Tut were informed that the order had not yet been received. Waited at Tut Tut for the order to be prepared. Checking the order showed only white rice in both combos although ticket showed brown rice for one and jasmine rice for the other. Advised staff about these problems and received no notable response. Food in lunch combos was largely the white rice with only smaller amounts of other ingredients. Overall, pricey for amount paid.

It’s kinda crazy I’m writing this considering how often I order and how consistent the food quality is… but I’m finally just extremely annoyed and bummed out. This place ABSOLUTELY NEVER EVER EVER gives you anything you request, such as hot sauce packets or fork or spoons ect. I finally have them one more shot, and mentioned how if just this once they can give me another dipping sauce for the $10 egg rolls. Nope. Nothing. I’m done ordering here, I feel like they must not really care too much about their repeat customers . They always provide the absolute minimum amount of sauce, typically good enough for half of what is acceptable. I understand profits are slim but, come on. I wrote you guys asking for some extra sauce as a big fan of your food and you constantly IGNORE my fairly reasonable request. Treat your customers better, I want to support local mom and pop business such as these but show some thanks for your customers. Don’t be so dang cheap!!!

I heard really good things about this place so I gave it a go. Wish I didn’t,So I’m super intolerant to onion and garlic, to the point that if I eat it I bloat within less then 15 - 30 and with server pain. Also I get super lethargic, gas, bowel issues. So I always put no onion or garlic on everything!!!Pad see eew typically isn’t made with either sweet soy sauce/ dark soy sauce. So I through I’d be safe. Wrong!!! Also got to other items and I was terrified to try them after finding garlic in the pad see eew.I spent a far bit of money as we just moved so everything a mess. Also we didn’t get a single napkin or chopsticks, knife, fork, spoon. With the delivery!!!!By the time got the food the place was closed so we couldn’t say anything and call them.

The chicken over curry rice is very tasty, but the roasted duck over rice tasted odd and the meat was very little (all of the duck were less than two pieces of the fried chicken on the chicken over curry rice dish. Upstart Thai Place mostly student-focused meaning more sugar in the dishes, and Americanized versions of Thai classics, it seems like there was sugar and everything when I ate there last, I might give it another try and see if it tastes a little more adult. This is happening with Thai restaurants all across the United States when they realized it American people often do not appreciate authentic Thai flavors, and have to modify it for the American pallet, usually many more butter, salt, and sugar, and less chili, herbs, and uniqueness. Super delicious Tom kha coconut milk soup. Unfortunately, the prices are pretty steep for the portions. We order soup here all the time and its only three quarters full when we paid extra for a large. The peanut sauce is to die for. Decent amount of vegetarian options, but delivery services dont allow you to make some things vegetarian. Wish the pineapple fried rice was still able to be ordered as a vegetarian option.

First of all before I even tried the food the website was so easy to navigate and I love the pictures of food. I was able to order for pick-up right from Google and how convenient is that! When I get there to pick up our order, they have this cute wide open pick-up window which again is so convenient and safe for everyone involved. I have to say the beef sizzling platter was my favorite of the dishes we ordered and it was extra spicy which I love! Tuk Tuk uses real Thai black pepper which according to my in laws, was refreshing because it added so much flavor to the already flavorful dishes. We ordered Spicy Sizzling Platter with beef, Crab Fried Rice, Fried Calamari, Fried Chicken with Curry Rice, Chicken Pad Thai and Fresh Summer Rolls with Shrimp. Everything was equally delicious. Waste of $60 for two people. Yellow curry was 50% water and 50% the cheapest coconut milk they could find. The tofu in the yellow curry was deep fried to the point it felt like chewing rubber. And of course, no seasoning or flavor on the tofu, just endless chewing. The veggies in the yellow curry were not cooked at all. Raw bell pepper, raw carrot, and of course raw potato. Not even half steamed. Brown rice was without a single grain of salt or flavor, the definition of bland. Veggie spring rolls were worse than you could find in the Costco freezer. An insult to my taste buds and more importantly my wallet.

The Thai food served here is awesome. The staff are quiet helpful and the prices are very reasonable. The fried rice and the noodles are excellent pick here. Also the quantity is enough that can two people can consume it easily amongst themselves. The place is not that much crowded on Sunday afternoons around 3:30 pm.

Not a bad restaurant. Open until late at night and unlike what Yelp is showing (till 11 only on Yelp). The best thing about them is probably that they are casual and affordable dining. We ordered a green curry which wasnt bad, and a chicken noodles dish that I couldnt stand, there was something about the oil they cooked with Im sure. Might have been just fish oil, but I didnt like it. Good option for a late night.

Ive always had great service and the food is very delicious ( in a fresh, healthy way).The prices seemed a little high but you are getting what seemed to be a fresh ingredients, at a convenient location, quickly and helpfully from the good staff there.But look for the deals and specials they may offer like their happy hour, lunch specials and other appetizer special times.If those times work with your schedule you get a a tasty treat and youll save a few bucks.

After reading the reviews, we figured we give this restaurant a try. We ordered beef padthai, beef noodle soup, and Thai iced coffee. Was a bit disappointed. Although I asked for light ice, I didn’t expect to find only two pieces lol and the ice looked as if it has been sitting in the coffee for a while bc the coffee tasted diluted. I was also surprised that they brought out the iced coffee with the coffee and cream mixed already. Initially I thought that’s how they do it until the table next to us, they ordered iced tea and the tea and cream was not mixed as it should be. However, when asked them to change the iced coffee, I appreciate that they quickly did. Furthermore, the beef they used was not the best, it was chewy and gamy. Overall, it was a nice restaurant with many arts but unfortunately, I can only give a three bc of the quality and taste of the food.

Low rating is an attempt to swing the average down to a more accurate overall picture.Not bad, but very much a student/takeout quality meal, so if thats what youre looking for - look no further.Alas, my takeout was insanely oily and some of the vegetables in the mix were lovely, as was the rice - but some tasted a little bland and overall it tasted off. My body did not like me after eating it. Even though it was 0% spicy it gave me instant indigestion. Actually, it was not seasoned very much at all - fresh Thai basil which was good but just a sweet and very salty sauce besides that.If I went back, Id order something different and eat it there. I might try the fried rice or a noodle dish instead of what I had.Did not look or taste nearly the quality of those dishes pictured here, but all those photos are on plates, which leads me to believe that if you know what youre ordering and you eat there at a table youll be fine!

If you like Thai food, you cant miss with this place. I like to eat here any time Im in the area around a meal time. I really like the green curry and so I usually get it with tofu. Its often lunchtime when Im here and the lunch special comes with a fresh roll and rice. The quality and freshness of the food has always been excellent. The Thai iced tea is so good its probably illegal ;-D. Service has always been a good balance of making sure I have what I need without hovering. Im vegetarian so I cant comment on the dishes with meat in them but everyone Ive brought here has liked it as well.

I come here often to get the Thai fried rice and it’s always made to perfection. The layout of the restaurant is spacious so that if the restaurant does get crowded you’re not rubbing elbows with people at the table next to you. The staff is friendly and their prices are reasonable :-)

I ordered off ubereats and was just disappointed in the food. I had vegetarian pad thai- the noodles were pretty dry and it was mostly bean sprouts. It seriously looked like they ran out of ingredients. Especially compared to the quantity of Pad kee mao that my friend ordered. Vegetarian spring rolls were standard.

I ended up here looking for a place to park in Berkeley so I could eat at another Thai restaurant down the street. I found a place right in front of Tuk Tuk. It has a clean cute ambiance. The hostess is worth the effort to come inside. The food is good and the service is typical for restaurants lime this. One thing I found unpleasant was the large party that came in after I ordered. One of the guests had the lowest most grating laugh I have heard in a long time. It made the experience less enjoyable. All in all I would give this 4 stars all day.

My food was ready in five minutes and on its way but when it arrived it seemed like it was a day old and had just been microwaved. The food didnt taste fresh at all sadly. It is very Unfortunate that after visiting Tuk Tuk Thai in Berkeley, CA I have to write this review. My girlfriend and I were so looking forward to trying some good Thai food in Berkeley and after her friend recommended this restaurant we were excited to try it. We came around 2 pm on Saturday and the restaurant was nearly empty. We were not bothered by that since we read in the reviews that the restaurant stays open late at night so we thought most of the crowd comes after dark. The waitress with all the emotion of a frozen mummy took our order, no smile, no emotion, no welcome. That would still be fine if the food was what we were looking for in a Thai restaurant. Unfortunately, We were beyond disappointed. Terrible, terrible, terrible... Vegetables only partially cooked, oversugared oily Pad Thai Noodles with beef which tasted like a bottom of the shoe. The soup was not far from heated up broth with hard mushrooms not even cooked. Price for each dish was way more than other Thai food places would charge.After we left the restaurant the only thing we were looking for was a bathroom since that runs followed within 30 minutes. We were so upset about our disappointment in the restaurant that my girlfriend and I could not stop talking about it. Hope the owner reads my review and fixes the place. Otherwise, avoid at all costs!!!

This was a go to restaurant until Mondays visit Aug 13, 2018. At first 2 waiters came to ask for our order. Nice. The order took forever..over 20 minutes and there were maybe 5 other customers. I had to get up and ask for our food. In 20 min. Nobody came to our table. The first waiter seemed apathetic and out if it. While waiting, one cook was holding up some food from the grill with his fingers, no gloves. Ordering pad Thai was a usual. This time I couldnt finish it and I got sick in the way home. Service constantly changes and this change counts me out. A saving grace, I liked sitting by the window watching a lady sweep the whole block sidewalk. Crazy. Nice tuk tuk car .

2 and 1/2 stars.I hate to give any Thai restaurant a negative review. I love the flavors and spices of Thailand, I really do. This place does a few things right; The flavor profiles of the curries. The savory smoked duck.Where this restaurant falls short is in two large categories. Size/price ratio and menu description inaccuracy. The portions here are disappointingly small and prices higher than competitors. This may be due to location, but still, it is noticeable. A larger flaw is not getting what you thought you ordered. I ordered a dish with tofu instead of meat. The menu listed the vegetables that accompanied this particular choice, which led to my decision. No broccoli. A very important consideration for me since I have trouble digesting this vegetable and frankly, I just dont like it. Broccoli is a cheap filler vegetable. I learned in chef school that it communicates to the customer that the restaurant cuts corners. Broccoli is cheap, abundant, and has a long shelf life. It has no place in fine dining. I THOUGHT I was avoiding it when I made my selection. Uh, no. I got 5 tiny cubes of tofu and a ton of broccoli. The waiter, when summoned, told me that it was always added when the customer ordered the dish with tofu. He didnt explain the lack of tofu.So my already smallish selection was made even smaller when I picked out the offending vegetable. I felt it was a bit unfair since this arbitrary substitution was not indicated on the menu. I had no warning, and was offered no replacement. I will not be returning, which is a shame since my husband loved the house smoked duck.

I’m amazed that I saw so many 5 star reviews. Totally misleading. If any Asian restaurant can not cook good rice, it’s not even qualify to serve any rice dish. The crab fried rice that I got is just a mushy dough. I can’t tell any difference between crab meat and rice in my mouth. The roasted duck still has that duck smell and the skin is completely soaked, hard to swallow.

Just walking by, I saw their pick-up window open, stuck my masked nose in and asked if they had something quick, something with rice, chicken and maybe a salad. We had the Green Salmon (but requested red curry... no problem switching), Pineapple Sole and Shiitake Pad. The chicken in the Shoitake Pad was reasonably tender. All the dishes were excellent though the shiitake was a bit over breaded. Also chicken egg rolls and vegetarian curry puffs. The last was a pack of starch, but well fried if you like that stuff. Do not go to the other two Thai restaurants open late (also located on Shattuck, but on the other side of University) -- they do not hold a candle to Tuk Tuk.
