This is the best sushi spot in Sonoma county. They’re on the higher end on pricing, but it’s definitely worth it!The sushi is made perfectly, and the sauces are all home made. Even the tofu deserves recognition, it’s that good.

My friends and I managed to get a reservation on a Friday evening at the last minute. Were from Southern California but have been here more than once. Its a good reliable restaurant for sushi dinner. We did have to wait 5 to 10 minutes for our table as we arrived a little early. The restaurant was busy during dinner but we never felt rushed or anything like that and our server (didnt catch her name) was really helpful and attentive. Everything was great. Sorry, I only took a picture of the sake.

A small roadside restaurant with a lively and friendly atmosphere in Windsor. Bamboo surrounds the outside patio and despite the automobile noise is quite cozy and pleasant.The service was incredibly friendly and the food was well prepared. Babies and toddlers are welcome and the customers were friendly.I’m going back.

All the food was amazing. Best miso soup ever (even overhead the table next to me saying the same). Really yummy garlic edamame. Lovely patio seating with heaters. Chicken Katsu portion was huge. My man loved his Old Redwood & spicy tuna rolls. Only complaint was that I asked several times for a glass of water that never came. Well definitely be back.

Good sushi and service. I’ve been here maybe five times. A few times with my boyfriend. He enjoyed the food too. Last time on a birthday work lunch for a co-worker. Everyone was happy. Nice find for a Japanese restaurant along Old Redwood Hwy if you are in Windsor area 😊 Still Toyo is my all-time fav!

Probably thinking why Im uploading a 5 star review with a picture of one of their salads that has mold on it?The reason why is because I eat here quiet often and the food is really good and fresh most of the time but I want them to check their produce because something must have started growing recently.Update 12/27/21:Had a roll with crab on it and am now suffering. The fish smelled suspicious which should of been enough of a warning but wasnt, taking away a star.

I took my daughter here for her 16th birthday since she loves sushi.The staff was wonderful, pleasant & attentive. The food was delicious we all loved our dishes. She had a sushi, sashimi combo plate. I had a tempura combo & my cousin had a salmon. All amazing and delicious.

Ive been coming to Ume for years now, but not nearly enough. Living in NYC, I make sure to hit Ume every time Im in town. The food is fresh, super clean and exceptionally flavorful. Ume doesnt rely on sauces to hide mediocre flavor but instead judiciously pairs the freshest fish with the right elements to enhance flavor. Definitely a worthy wine country stop.

Great place. I will give it 5 stars for overall experience, but I think its over priced. The waitress was great, and every now and then a waitress named Alejandra would help our table. She is a beautiful woman with a beautiful story. She is a perfect example of what makes California so unique. Definitely visit this place, and i will definitely come back. Our rolls were very tasty!

Great sushi, 2 different sake flights, good beer selection, lots of sake choices. This is our go-to sushi restaurant. It is close to home, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Some of the specialty sushi rolls are spectacular, but they are all very good. My wife likes the Giants Roll and I like the Geisha, the Spicy Tuna & Spicy Salmon. And they serve one of the absolute best Rainbow Rolls you will find anywhere! (Always the first dish I try at a sushi place - I only return to the best, and we have been going to Ume for over 20 years!Whatever your Japanese cuisine desires, Ume Japanese Bistro has you covered!2023Had our anniversary lunch here, and as always Umé delivers! Cute little place with unexpectedly delicious food. Everything we ordered was great, and the service was outstanding. The only challenge we experienced was arriving at the tail end of Restaurant Week - they had been so busy, they were sold out of several favorites. Not really a problem, as it pushed us to try new things!Insider tip: order the chefs choice chirashi bowl... you wont be disappointed!

I enjoyed this place every time I go. The food is fresh and tasted. The only complaint I have is the service is sooooo slow. No matter if it’s takeout order (usually 55 min) or dine in. I can be sitting on my table for long time on my phone waiting then for to be served. Wonder if they don’t have enough servers or chefs? The servers always apologized though for the long wait

The is a great little place with good customer service and a warm feeling when you first walk in the door. The fish was fresh good and they had some unique rolls that we enjoyed. Pepper fin tuna is always my favorite and they served an amazing dish.

This place is amazing. The Giants Roll is the best. I am not even a fan of the Giants but the roll is really good. The tempura roll is good, warm, didnt expect warm, but good flavor. Apparently it is ok to break glasses here. The staff is accepting of it. If you are celebrating come here and break as many glasses as you want.

This place seems to produce good quality Japanese food. We had the tofu steak which tasted grea but should have had the middle cooked more well done. The salmon poke bowl was tasty but did not contain as much of the ingredients the menu indicated. All in all I would eat there again.

I was really disappointed by this restaurant. Id seen so many rave reviews so got an order to go. The order was 20 min later than stated and when I opened the order it was clear that the whole order had been waiting on the chicken teriyaki. The siding had gone warm. The Black and Blue, a dish of heard great things about was a lot smaller than expected, just five thin slices of tuna cut so thin you could see through it. It had been sitting in the sauce so long that it all just tasted of the ginger garnish. Id come during a clearly busy moment but this robbed the experience entirely. The chicken teriyaki was a generous portion, hot and although not amazing, was reasonable.

A fairly unassuming place by outside appearance, some of the reviews say the outside looks pretty bad but not to me, maybe they got a remodel... or Im just easy to pleaseThe inside was cozy nothing too fancy but you could tell some effort was put in to give it a certain relaxed vibe.The food was very good, the sushi I had was tasty and my father ordered some fish that was... well lets just say Ive never had fish that delicious, definitely worth 4 stars.what gives it that extra star is the owner of the restaurant kelly, a beautiful Asian gal who was very sweet and easy to talk too, I swear my cheekbones started to hurt from smiling so much while talking to her, we talked about her backstory, where she worked, about her family, about the restaurant, she asked about us and where we came from... she was just adorable and a hard worker.All in all I would definitely visit again.

Sushi is OK (limited choices in Windsor) but quality is higher than Senju... customer service is sometimes subpar to poor. My wife and I enjoyed this place until we had to walk out one night after waiting 10-15 for someone to even acknowledge us after getting a table. 2 other couples walked out prior to us as well. Take out can be slow as well. One terrible experience so I still give it 3 stars to be fair since I have been there a lot with good food and service.

Ume Japanese Bistro in Windsor has excellent food prepared and served very professionally. I had the salmon fillet dinner and a rainbow roll and both were excellent. So why only 3 stars? The mens bathroom in this place is disgusting. Not only was it filthy with sticky floors and worse, but the odor of the space made me glad my visit was after my meal. Guys, do yourselves a big favor and clean up the mess.

Food is quite good and staff are nice, but it drives me up the wall when restaurants label imitation crab as the real thing. Ume has “snow crab” all over the menu and nowhere is it explained that the “snow crab” is in fact the cheap, imitation, fish-based “crab” meat that you find in Subway sandwiches. Pretty shameful for a sushi restaurant to play this game.

Ume is just a bad resturant. The food is average at best. Very basic, nothing special in any way whatsoever. I’ve even seen delivery trucks bringing them pre-made frozen potstickers and appetizers in the morning.The biggest problem with this place is that every time I eat there, without fail, I get sick to the point of vomiting about an hour later.I’ve eaten there many, many times because it is so popular locally and I’d get invited there. My friends have similar stories of getting ill. I adore sushi and other Japanese food and have never gotten sick from any other Japanese resturant, so it’s not that I have an allergy or anything. I’ve learned not to eat there at this point.

Food was good, the service was really bad and slow, there was a couple in front of us and another person, both parties were seated after waiting in line for 10 minutes. We were told to take a seat wherever we want to, after a few minutes the waiter brought waters and told us that someone we be we us to take our order; about 10 minutes past and the waitress took our order. We waited and waited, finally some comes and tells us that they are sorry for the wait and brought some edamame, we noticed that the people that was in front of us were already leaving the restaurant and that was when our food was finally been served, WTH.

The decor and vibe always give me happy flashbacks to my extended trips to Japan. Great food, from traditional sushi to creative rolls, and from tonkatsu to zaru soba. The flights of sake are a nice way to explore and compare different styles (this is how I discovered Onikoroshi, my current favorite). Service has always been friendly and attentive.
