We ordered 2 items on their menu. I figured the big serving of sushi(gigantic roll) is enough for 2 people. First we had the shrimp puff and it was good, although not as fulfilling. It really is a puff. Second is Chopstick guys. The size of this sushi is almost like a burrito. It takes about 2 or 3 bites for one piece. The aioli sauce with uni sauce and seared salmon is what makes this one really good. With only these 2 order we were full. We will definitely be back and either try other sushi or get the AYCE sushi.

We went for lunch on a weekend during a trip. There were many people inside and we ordered the bento boxes, including salmon teriyaki, chicken katsu, and teriyaki chicken. There were also two pieces of California rolls included. The food was OK and good value. It took us over 40 min to get our food after ordering and seemed that our order was forgotten. They provided us with a complimentary dessert, tempura ice cream, for the delay of our food, which tasted fine.

This place is always a nice dining experience. The sushi is fresh and creative, the saki bombs are always $4.50, and we just love going here. They need a bigger restaurant as theyd easier get more business, IMO, but I love that its so close.

Terrible experience! We went for a sushi buffet. We didn’t finish the sushi, and we asked if we can take it to-go. The waitress said yes but with an extra charge of $5 each person. We said sure. She came back with the bill and said that “it’s okay, we’re not gonna charge you this time but next time try not to order so much”. We were grateful that she didn’t charge us and so we decided to leave her a HUGE tip for that. We sat there for 20-30minutes waiting for our to-go box and she never gave it to us. Really upsetting that she decided not to give us the box due to not charging us the fee. Like she could have communicated that to us? We would have never left her such a big tip

Went here for the first time to try the ramen, and were not disappointed. I got the black garlic ramen, my husband got the tan tan. Both were fantastic, very flavorful, big portions. Service was prompt and friendly, the atmosphere was very casual. We’re excited to come back again soon to try the sushi🙌🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Edit: we went back again today, and I got to try the White Dragon roll, holy cow!! One of the best rolls I’ve ever had, luscious layers of texture and flavor, it’s my new dream roll🥰🥰🥰

Had some extra time so decided for the first time ever to eat at a restaurant with the express intent of writing a review. By no means am i am expert.Firstly, service was very fast. I was seated immediately and given water immediately as well. The server was very kind and the atmosphere was casual and relaxed; the kind of place you could come anytime.I ordered the Hamachi Kama ($17), Chirashi ($21) with tea. The Hamachi was cooked beautifully; lightly crispy on the skin and not dried out at all. It was really tender, i honestly may come back just for some Kama with rice.The Chirashi was interesting. The rice i think couldve been better, the texture felt a little off. additionally the octopus and shrimp didnt taste as fresh as the rest of the food, which was a little disappointing because otherwise the Chirashi wouldve been very good.I decided afterwards to ask the server which nigiri he liked the most, and landed on the blue fin toro. $11 for two pieces is a lot, but its Toro! I was not disappointed. The rice was the same as the Chirashi, but i wont take points off twice for that. The Toro melts in your mouth and it was the perfect way to end the meal.I havent tried the ramen or the rolls, but as far as these dishes go this place isnt half bad. Its not my favorite and it wont replace my go-to, but im gonna go back at some point!Kama: 8/10Chirashi: 7/10Bluefin otoro: 9/10Overall experience: 8/10

I liked most of the rolls but I felt like the roe on top was overpowering. The variety had larger eggs and it occasionally got stuck in my teeth leaving an unpleasant flavor. Would have been fantastic if they used 1/3 of the roe they did.

The sushi itself is clearly well-made, the chefs are quite talented, and the fish is very fresh. Biggest critique is that 95% of the (surprisingly large) sushi menu is focused around spicy ingredients—jalapeños, spicy tuna, spicy mayo, siracha drizzle, etc—which wouldn’t normally be a problem, but they REALLY don’t hold back on the spice. To follow up, substituting any spicy fish with some regular fish incurs a $3 charge and can jump the price up for single roll to near $20. Sorry, but it’s too much for me when I have to ask for substitutes which will break the bank on just ordering two rolls for a single person.Again, the food itself is well-crafted. Just too pricey for what their menu offers and not enough variety for the menus size.

Update: recently visited because I wanted my husband to try the food! Again...did NOT disappoint. Probably my favorite sushi place to go to. Its small, which makes the experience better IMO. Ill post pictures of our delicious sashimi and rolls!Service was fast and friendly. The sushi place I normally go to shut down. I normally get blue shell crab tempura which was really tasty here! I also got the deluxe sashimi and it comes with salad and soup and rice! The rice was perfect and was still hot. Sometimes it comes out cold at other places, but not here! The only sad thing was that I only got four different types of fish, when normally you get more of a variety when you pay for a deluxe sashimi. Other than that, it was great!

My husband and I went there a few days ago. I got the seafood ramen and he got the spicy ramen. We also shared a lion king roll. I was super impressed. The ramen was amazing and the roll stayed together and also tasted fantastic. The service honestly wasnt the best, but I did not care because the ramen was just that good. I actually went there the next day with a friend too! I am hooked.

All you can eat Menu is RIDICULOUS, they only have a couple options available for rolls, and per management there are “no modifications”, it would be understandable if it was a $15-$20 all you can eat, but it’s not the case. They offer a bunch of cheap frozen food on the “appetizers” section. The servers are nice and the sushi makers seem to have a happy attitude, hopefully they will find a better place to work…Reply Update:There’s no variety in the meats, some customers like to eat something different than shrimp or salmon, and besides what’s the issue about customizing a 4 pc roll in a $35+TAX all you can eat menu (taking into account that most customers only have 1 or 2).If you want to have a good example of a decent all you can eat sushi place you can take a look at Aji Sushi on North Highlands…Hopefully you can take this as a constructive feedback instead of arguing, thanks.

Great experience and nice restaurant. The food was wonderful and the service was awesome.——Update——Had a rough experience on 2/24 as we had a show on the TV that was definitely not a “dinner in a restaurant” show. Our sushi took so long and at one point we were delivered one roll then had to wait about 10 minutes to get the second roll. This all happened after my daughter got her bento box first and about 10+ minutes before we got our first roll. Normally I really love Umi but this was frustrating. No manager apology or offer of a discount. Just a “yeah, our sushi chef is running behind.”

Took my wife here. Everything was great, except the creamy baked mussels. I enjoy baked mussels at every sushi restaurant I visit when its available. And this creamy baked mussels looked exquisitely delicious but the smell was awful. I was able to gup in the mussel but almost couldnt control my gage reflex on the 2nd. The smell was strong and had a raw overdue smell. It would be great to see the quality of the taste and smell be better for their creamy baked mussels in the near future.

I really liked this place for the all you can eat menu, but they have changed the menu. They now have an all you can eat menu that offers different pricing for lunch and dinner. However the premium pricing for all you can eat gives you access to the sashimi menu, but at a limited quantity, which defeats the purpose of having an all you can eat menu. I have visited this establishment multiple times before and they never limited the amount of sashimi you can order during the all you can eat menu time frames, and the prices were lower before they made this change. If you are paying for premium just know they will only allow you to order 15 pieces of salmon sashimi, 2 pieces of everything else, but you only receive 1 piece of the toro. Im really disappointed and will be going somewhere else for sushi. Also, the wait time was very long. I ordered 1 order of the 15 piece salmon sashimi, and 3 Ugani hand rolls and it took a little over and hour to serve it. It also wasnt busy either, they are usually slow to serve when its busy, but this time it wasnt and it still took too long. I recommend BF Miyabi. Their salmon sashimi is amazing, better quality, and they give you thicker cuts of sashimi. It is pricier, but at this point I would rather go there, because they are practically the same price now.

I would suggest for the restaurant for the all you can eat do at least two deserts inclusive on this price that would be really great because even that the rolls and everything it’s great still not having so many options but that’s not a problem at all ! Probably one of the places with the nicest servers. They let us get the all you can eat when it was very last minute and they were very kind to us even though we are young. The all you can eat premium has awesome options and the BBQ short ribs are one of the best things Ive ever ate. I also highly recommend the hand rolled tempura roll.

Day 2 in search of great local Asain soups. Today Umi Sushi 107 Harding Blvd. Roseville Ca.I had Maguro Nigiri and Shio Ramen.I found the maguro to be slightly fishy at the nose and chew but quickly wiped it away with a touch of fresh Wasabi.The Shio Ramen was delicious with a hint of lime in a seafood stock. Clams, shrimp, squid, baby bok choy, naturo fish cake & green onion.This was refreshing and clean, it reminded me of the California sea shore in the spring time. With the fresh lime scent and flavors of the sea accented with wisps of chili threads. This is a place you have to try and I will be checking back in for more mini getaways on my lunch hour.

I drive from Folsom to Roseville just to get this ginormous roll...its called the Everything roll. Its packed with crab and tons of fish. It taste soo fresh. The staff is so nice each time we come in and they seem to remember our faces as well. My boyfriend and I always customize our rolls and little and each time they are more than accommodating and our order is always spot on. Thanks for the yummy rolls.OH and if you are big on Post-Mates or Uber Eats...the rolls come greatly packaged and just as good as if you ate there. Enjoy your take out!

Went for all you can eat sushi on 5/9/2023. The cuts of Nigiri were done wrong - uneven cuts, stringie, mashed a bit. The hamachi was spoiled and should not have been served. Rolls we ordered were fine. Service was fair, had to help ourselves for chopsticks and soy sauce containers from other tables, water ran out out and was not refilled, but food came out quickly.

This place is great! Great staff and the food is fantastic! I am always on the lookout for good sushi and ramen and this place delivers. Tantan men was spicy and full of flavor. I recommend that with a White Dragon roll, 9-1-1 roll or the off menu Firehouse roll. I will be back an I encourage you to give them a try!

In all honesty I would give this place 4 stars. My wife used to go there every 6 weeks when we got our serviced at Big O Tiree. We got the ramen, which is good. Eventually I tired of the Ramen and I ordered the all you can eat sushi and my wife ordered the Ramen. I was told she had to also order the all u can eat sushi as well. I asked why since she also ordered a full meal. I was told it was policy because people cheat. I would understand if she wasnt ordering a full meal. We have eaten elsewhere now 4 times because of this policy. I hope they change this policy. Because some people cheat and take advantage, others should not be penalized.

We were planning to have an early dinner before heading to the hotel and found this restaurant on our way. We arrived a few moment before 5pm and quickly more people came in to the restaurant, so we assumed that this restaurant was good. Since we were too tired to eat at the restaurant, we ordered the food to-go. We ordered california roll, shrimp tempura roll, spider roll, and chicken katsu dinner box. The service was quite fast and we got our food within 15 minutes of ordering.As soon as we settled at the hotel, we immediately ate the food as we were famished. The california roll & shrimp tempura roll were good and decent - nothing special and they were on a smaller size. The spider roll was super disappointing. The rolls were small, especially the soft shell crab pieces were small. I believe that they put in shrimp tempura as filler because it didnt taste like crab at all! My husband ate the chicken katsu and said that the chicken was rubbery and not fresh. We definitely wont come back with such low quality food.

Had the all you can eat sushi lunch special and was by far the best experience and best sushi i’ve ever had. My date and I were always being attended to without having to wait and the friendly staff were patient with us with it being our first time there.Our favorite roll was the Lion king roll and highly recommend it if you need somewhere to start.The deserts were also amazing too.

First time ever eating here and I didnt even get to EAT! The husband and I wanted all you can eat sushi, and this place had great reviews so we thought wed try it out. I have food allergies and they arent normally an issue at restaurants. All I asked was to remove cucumber and avocado from my roll. Our waiter replies we dont take special requests and cant make substitutions. Can you just order something else? ...no, I cant because EVERYTHING has one or both of the things Im allergic to in it.. so I cant eat ANYTHING on their menu except maybe some rice and chicken. Definitely never going here again. Horrible experience! How can a restaurant not make an exception for a FOOD ALLERGY that can send me into anaphylaxis!

My daughters 15th birthday and she picked this place to try because she loves Ramen. Her and her dads ramen were great but the Bento box I ordered was sad. The teriyaki chicken was ice cold, no sauce for my tempura (also cold), my sashimi was excellent. My Masago Nigiri was awful did not taste fresh at all. I ordered 3 different appetizers and didnt get them until almost the end of our dinner! We had to keep bugging the staff for every little thing like our drinks, sauces, could they please remove some dishes we gathered up for them so wed have a little bit of elbow room. I am not usually a complainer but I guess I became one since covid started. Prices went up and the quality of food and service went way down. Everywhere! For it being our first time at UMI sushi it was not very impressive at all. Not worth the money going out to eat anymore!

Ive noticed that most of the times Ive eaten here, there are customers who are clearly from Japan speaking Japanese to the staff. This tells me that their sushi must be very good! And of course I know this from experience. I also love their ramen and their tempura. Service is good, very quick. I recommend getting there shortly after they open for dinner at 5 pm, you wont have to wait long! Otherwise you might be waiting for a while.

Their tonkutsu Ramen with black garlic oil is da bomb. The broth is rich and creamy just like an authentic Ramen from Japan. I only wish they use a firmer noodles, and that should do the trick. The ajitsuke or marinated egg could be better. Overall it was a great dining experience and will be back for the other menu tiems.

Hidden gemSpotted this place last week after having lived in Granite bay for 3 years, I can say this is a great place. A wonderful experience. This place looks like a hole-in-the-wall on the outside, but the food is worthy of fine dining. I am a noob when it comes to sushi, but the server gave some excellent recommendations. The 9-1-1 Spicy Roll was amazing, and the Sea Monster was deliciously filling. And all for a very fair price. Great service, excellent food. This restaurant does well with smaller groups up to eight. The dining room is smaller so if your group is larger, I would suggest getting there when they open to get right in. Their fish is fresh. The presentation is lovely. I understand they have a well-rounded Saki menu. It is one of two of the best places in Roseville for sushi.

We showed up for a late dinner at 8:30. We though they closed at 9:30, but apparently it had changed to 9pm. They didnt tell us that until after we had placed our order. I ordered a hot tea. They brought a lovely pot(way too much for one person) and one cup, the hubby ordered a Sapporo. When I asked the food runner for another teacup for him, the server came back and said she cant, shell have to charge me for another cup. Ok. I drank as much of that tea as I could. I would have happily paid $2(price of tea) for another cup. It was very off-putting and kind of stingy for them to assume I would not. We ordered over $50 worth of sushi, what is the issue with a teacup? The staff was friendly enough when we walked in...As for the food: we ordered a tuna sashimi appetizer, and 2 rolls, the James and the Nicole, both topped with fresh salmon. It was HEAVY on the spicy mayo, very little spicy, mostly mayo. The salmon was not fresh. It smelled bad and tasted weird. They should not have served it. I asked for a to go box and took it back to our hotel room and microwaved it. The tuna sashimi was mostly food coloring.If it wasnt almost closing time, I would have complained. I just wanted to get out of there and cook that fish so it didnt make me sick.

Terrible, terrible quality sushi. Cutlet was okay, but the salmon was chewy, the eel was slimy, the softshell crab was grey and mealy. Threw almost the entire meal away, and that is not something I ever do. Much better quality in the dozens of other sushi restaurants in Roseville. Most of these reviews cant possibly be real, or these are people who are upgrading from eating gas station sushi, or the quality of this place has crumbled this year. This is my favorite place for Sushi. I drive the extra few miles because the fish is fresh, and the place is fabulous. Sonny and Tammy are awesome hosts. They have a great happy hour. I ordered the deep fried spicy tuna roll and the tan tan men. The spicy tina roll came with no garnish or sauce and had the texture of gummy rubber (no crunch at all). Either they were having an off day or the other reviewers havent had a lot of sushi experience.Came here for traditional sushi based on some other reviewer photos of nigiri that looked good. However, the uni was on the brink of going bad, tasting bitter and like ammonia. Ankimo also was on its last days. Hamachi toro cut had a piece that was too close to the skin and hard/unable to be chewed. The tempura felt like it had been sitting in a warmer and was soggy with the carrot still being raw in the middle. The Americanized rolls (which we ordered out of desperation) also left much to be desired, drizzled with some type of corn syrup type sauce.Two stars goes to our server, who was kind and attentive.

Great sushi! The rolls were a good size and rice ratio was well balanced to their fish portions. We ordered the 911, philly with fresh salmon instead of smoked and the triple sec. We also ordered the black garlic oil truffle ramen extra spicy. The rolls were great, I wish the lemon slices were a little larger on the triple sec but overall sushi was a solid 4.5. Fresh fish, fresh ingredients, came out quick and had great presentation. The ramen was ok, the meat was a little chewy but had good flavor in the broth. Today was our second visit. The first time we visited we both ordered Bento boxes. Teriyaki Steak for me and Sesame Chicken for my wife. Both were quite good. The boxes come with Miso soup, Tempura and salad. Their Miso broth is very good. Not too salty. The Tempura to me is perfect. I had prawns and veggies. The Prawns very fresh and tender. Veggies very good. Salad dressing very nice. Today we went for lunch with our son. Hes a sushi guy so we ordered a couple of rolls. We were surprised by bowls of the delicious Miso soup. I guess Thats included. We ordered the Paris roll and the King James roll. The Paris is one of their giant rolls. Its huge! I cant recall all of the ingredients but Its very good. The Tempura soft shelled crab delicious and crunchy. Smoked salmon and crab on top was the perfect finishing touch. The King James roll was also very good. The scallops very fresh.Some of the other reviews have mentioned slow service. That has not been our experience so far. The staff has been universally warm and helpful and the food has come out pretty quickly.Well definitely be back.

I recently just returned from another trip to Japan and happen to come across this restaurant. For the longest time if I wanted Japanese ramen I would drive all the way to downtown Sacramento so I can eat at shoki ramen. I was fortunate enough to find Umi Sushi by chance when stopping at a nearby store.Umi Sushi is truly authentic Japanese food. The main people who run the restaurant are Japanese. Sunny should have a Michelin Star. He is the best sushi chef in the area. His fish is great. Prices are fair.
