Went here for take-out lunch around 12:45pm. I ordered directly at the front cashier. The place was not too crowded and the lady said it would take about 20-30 minutes. The price for the rolls are affordable, so I decided to order 3 rolls. I waited close to 30 mins until I got my food.- Shrimp tempura roll: good. Shrimp tempura was crunchy. The sauce was kinda overwhelming the sushi.- Spider roll: delicious! The big chunk of soft shell crab was crispy. But again, I wish they didn’t put too much sauce on top.- Dragon roll: delicious! Generous avocado on top but the unagi was just small amount.Overall, good sushi rolls that are affordable. I wish they didn’t slather the sauce on top of sushi as it was overpowering the roll itself. I will be back to try other rolls.
This is the new standard by which I will judge other sushi restaurants. 50% off rolls is a common feature in the Sacramento area, but these are both massive and delicious. We arrived just before the dinner rush and enjoyed great fast service and were created by friendly staff.
I came here with my mom and daughter because my sister raved about this place. She highly recommend this place.The restaurant was clean and half full. We were seated immediately and as we pondered over the menu it was hard to decide what to order. We went with some of the rolls my sister recommended...We ordered1. the seaweed salad..5.95. It was pretty good.2. The shrimp and veggie tempura 9.50. you get 2 shrimp and other veggies like broccoli ...sweet potato...asparagus ect..it was light and very good.3. The lobster roll... 15.95 this roll has Fried shrimp, lobster salad, daikon, cucumber, avocado with seared tuna, masago, onion & sauce it was so pretty I did not want to mess it up.. this was absolutely delicious 😋.4. Rainbow roll... 12.95 Shrimp tempura, crabmeat, top with avocado, five kinds of fish, masago, house sauce...it was very good5. Godzilla roll.. 8.95. Salmon, tuna, white fish, avocado, top with green onion, spicy mayo, eel sauce, masago it was very good.We loved this place. The waitress was slow to bring the bill and check on us... but the food.. excellent.

Im a huge sushi lover. I like how they have a vegetarian/vegan sushi. If youre getting takeout, definitely say the name of the roll. Delicious fresh rolls. Hefty portion for Teriyaki meal. Id get take out from them again. Be prepared to have to pay a little more for good quality.
My husband and I started coming here after our favorite sushi place closed. I really appreciate being able to choose cooked rolls easily. The staff is really friendly. They take the time to get to know you and make you feel like family. 👍🏻👍🏻
Out of all the sushi places I’ve had locally this is by far the best for both price and quality. I’ve had sky sushi, Mikuni, Mikasa (Cameron park) and sushi kuma. I’ve recommended this place to several people.

Their volcano 🌋 sushi is really great but the best part of their sushi platter is the vegetarian rolls. The vege dragon has tempura asparagus and sweet potato is one of staple order. The prices are also very reasonable and the service is great
This is the best sushi place in El Dorado County. Hands down. I make it worthwhile to visit every week when I can. Pre-covid, this is my go-to sit down restaurant in the area. Family friendly, delicious food, love their fish selections. During Covid, Ive made an effort to visit once a week and enjoy their awesome food for lunch/dinner. If youre a connoisseur of Sushi for Nigiri and Sashimi, this is your place. Very reasonable prices, top quality selection of fish.
So its Christmas day 2020 and Umi Sushi has come through to help make this one of the best in years. As a Mom who is totally exhausted by Christmas morning, (any parent who handles 99% of the Christmas duties understands) making dinner is the last thing I want to do. That is why we always go out. This year we obviously could not, so I FBd Umi in advance and they told me they would be open for Christmas, New years eve and New Years. FYI, they are also open for Mothers Day (wish I had known that sooner). They catered our Christmas with the freshest, most delicious and healthiest serving of sushi Ive ever had in the central California region. Im from the bay area, Ive lived up and down the peninsula and coast and have visited all the great sushi spots, I would put Umi Sushi up against the best of them. A million times better than Mikuni. Ive been coming here for 5 years now and the quality and quantity has always been beyond impressive. And the price can not be beat. We ordered 3 lunch boxes, Beef Teriyaki - soooo good, Mixed shrimp tempura and chicken Katsu (all served with basic california roll, miso soup (really good), rice and green salad. We also got a 3 maki roll special (2 tekka maki and 1 California roll #2) and one 2 maki roll special ( 1 tekka maki and 1 Hamachi roll) and each come with your choice of miso or salad. We also ordered a lion king, red dragon & ichibon roll (all of them are amazing!!!) and 2 extra sides of rice (my son cant get enough of their rice). It came out to a little over $100 with a 20% tip. Really? Amazing! If you love fresh sushi that doesnt need to be covered with sauce to hide that fact that the fish isnt fresh (although the sauced rolls are good too) this is your place.Ive posted pictures of some of the sushi. Sorry I couldnt get all the food, it was devoured as soon as we got home. Needless to say, it was immensely enjoyed :)

I went today for lunch ordered over the phone ahead of time, (you can also order online). My order was ready when I got there fast and friendly service. My favorite is the Mexican roll! It has crabmeat and spicy tuna. If your in the El Dorado Hills area definitely check them out!

I have been looking for a new sushi house. I was torn about trying Umi between the complaints of a long wait and claim of great sushi. LET ME TELL YOU the long wait complaints are down right lies! It does not take 1.5 hrs, it takes maybe 20 minutes and any super busy great sushi house takes at lease 20 minutes. The service is fantastic, the food is fantastic and the other patrons are friendly! I am so happy to find my new sushi house.

We live down the street and have been coming here for years. Ive worked at two other highly rated sushi restaurants in the Sacramento area and I can honestly say theyre one of the local best for pricing and quality. The pandemic threw them into some very long wait times during the rush hours of lunch and dinner, but as long as we get our togo orders in early (or on slower days/times) its always worth the wait! Their garlic mayo is Awesome!!!

AMAZING food for an amazing price! We drive out 45 minutes to eat here because I have yet to find a sushi place that beats this one! They have awesome vegetarian options (vege dragon!!) and great customer service, making it worth the trip every time! Nice staff. Good selection of tasty rolls, both raw and non-raw. Some favorites are Godzilla, VIP, salmon, 49er rolls. But pick-up order wait times have been a bit long for dinner time (~1hr)
Staff was attentive and refilled our waters pretty often. We ordered the sunset roll, Godzilla roll, and rock n roll. All three were fantastic and totalled just about $25. Sunset roll was smooth and fresh, Godzilla and rock n roll were crisp and rich. I had poured some soy sauce in my dish before our food came but I never ended up using it since the rolls were lacking no flavor. Will be revisiting
I havent had the pleasure to sit down and eat here due to the pandemic. I usually call and place my orders for pickup. I have had no problems with any of my orders and they even call you when your food is ready for pickup. Everytime I order I usually get the teriyaki chicken bowl lunch special and its cheap and the food quality is outstanding. Big portions and great tasting I highly recommend it 👍
Been to Umi probably a dozen times at this point and not once have I been disappointed. Ive had about 20 different rolls and all of them have been good. My favorite is the godzilla roll. The crunchy roll is another top pick. I go here for lunch on average once per week and they always have my order ready when I arrive. Best sushi place in the area for the money.
The 50% off rolls are yummy and will not break your wallet. And there are so many different varieties of rolls to choose from, that you cannot go wrong. There seems to be a bunch of sushi places in El Dorado Hills, but this is one of the better ones. Highly recommend.
I called in to order and they said it would take 45-50 minutes. I showed up after one hour and they said they needed another 15 minutes. They took over 30 minutes, totaling an hour and a half. No apology. No attempt to make it right. This was my first experience with Umi Sushi and they will not be getting my business again.Sushi was average but well priced.
I dont like how they advertise 50% off like theres a sale. When the prices are always the same, and its not even cheap. If its permanently that price is it really on sale? Not a lot of salmon options, this is definitely more of a chinese style sushi place.

This place can accommodate gluten and dairy allergies and the prices are pretty good - much better than some of the other local places. Theres more of a family feel here. Staff have all been very nice. They can get busy especially with take away orders. I recommend it!
Its a bit small and it can get kinda loud but the prices are amazing, the service is excellent and the sushi is great. My boyfriend had the volcano roll and it was sooooo good. Would totally recommend and I had the el dorado roll which was pretty good. Im definitely coming back (:

As a true sushi snob who has spent half his life testing many, many different SF Bay Area 🍣 restaurants and living in Tokyo, I can verify this place is fresh. Not 100% authentic, but the flavors are spot on for the classic, traditional sushi items.UPDATE: Went back on a non-weekend night and was a bit less impressed. I believe we went when the owner was there last time. Dropping a star for the disappointing consistency.
Good sushi for a great price!The quality of fish is just as good as the best sushi restaurants in the Sacramento area, but at a much cheaper price.Their rolls are a good size, delicious and have the best fish to rice ratio Ive seen in area; which is important because if youre going out for sushi, you should pay for the fish, not rice covered in sauce.They have a wide variety of rolls which are separated on the menu by the primary fish on the roll (i.e. shrimp, salmon, tuna, etc . . .) which makes it really easy for someone to find what they like.Their happy hour prices are awesome too. My wife and I usually split three rolls and have a few drinks for a bill of about $32, not including tip. When we leave were pretty full and feel very satisfied.Lastly, the staff is very friendly. Its a family owned restaurant so the service can be a bit slower if its full, but that is the same with any restaurant during peak hours. Typically, you can easily get in and out in less than 45 minutes without feeling rushed.Overall, Umis a great spot and I highly recommend it if youre looking for some good sushi.
I really love the garlic edamame and the 50% off rolls; however, they made me wait an extra 45 mins to get my order. This is the 3rd time too. Im going to another sushi spot now and maybe come back after the whole pandemic is over.
The best sushi joint in this area, and for some reason there are several clustered around here. Their chefs dont mess around when it comes to sushi. Hostess are always nice. Price is perfect and fair. The only downside is that they are in a weird location thatmight affect the amount of customers they get, but its a plus if you dont like waiting. I recommend supporting this restaurant if youre looking for some place to grab a great asian meal, some sushi, beer, or catch the game on TV. They also have a website to place orders in advance for quick pickup.

Covid 19 so ordered to go for birthday. I was very impressed with the generous amout, the rolls was big. The sauces is very good too. Their sushi is very delicious and the quality of sushi is good. The beef teriyaki entrée is delicious and beef is tender. I highly recommend this place.

The sushi here is really good! Probably our new favorite place for sushi...when it is slow, they are very attentive, however, when it gets busy, the service is a bit more scatter brained...for example the last time we went we had ordered dessert, and we waited for a while and instead of dessert coming our checks came instead, we then reordered our dessert, which them came, we were also there as a birthday dinner, and had informed our waitress of such in which she said that there was something that they do for birthdays, however, it was not until we had left that we realized that they never brought the birthday goodie out that they had said they would...the ladies were still really nice, and they did check in and fill up our waters regularly .This is really a great sushi find...just try to go during non peak hrs for the best service. We will be back for sure.
Food is great and weve been coming here for years. The only problem is the service tends to be very slow (not uncommon to wait an hour for food). For that reason we dont come as often as wed like to.

One of our favorite local spots! Great happy hour, great sushi, good kitchen dishes as well. This is a smaller family owned/operated business. When they get busy, service can be slow. Insider tip: if youre in a hurry, stick to sushi rolls and sashimi, as the small kitchen gets backed up quickly. If you are staying at the hotel in Town Center...go out to the walkway around the lake and walk to the right, away from Town Center. Ummi Sushi is in the building on the right just before you get to the shopping center on the far side of the lake. Its very close, but a bit hidden from your view. Check it out!

I like to come here at least once a week with my colleagues for lunch. Most rolls are 50% off during lunch hour, but otherwise their sushi is fresh, you get a lot with bento box and it is customizable, and the food is just really good!
Good sushi but my dining experience felt more like I was just a transaction. I got what I ordered...no more and no less. I didnt feel the welcoming warmth that Ive felt at other places.
Would not recommend this place. Inattentive and very, very slow service. Had to scarf down my lunch just too get back to work on time, and the rolls werent anything to write home about. Very mediocre. Decent price, but Id rather pay more and be happy.

Rude service. She pretended that she did not speak English as she messed up my order so the price was doubled and then she would not give me my receipt. I had to go ask for the receipt and boxes for all the extra food. She walked past my table several times as I had my wallet in my hand to pay. She was just rude. I guess she does not want to deal with customers.

Never will go here again. The waitress use the dirty white towel to wipe down the tables and then she came behind the counter to get Wassabi onto dishes with her big long dirty fingernail and flung it on the plate. She then proceeded to walk to the customers table flicking the Wassabi out of her finger onto the floor it was disgusting not to mention she was a close talker with rotten teeth and her breath was an atrocious

UMI is our go-to sushi restaurant on El Dorado Hills. Id much rather go here than Mikuni in neighboring Folsom. The food its always fresh and delicious.

Im a pescatarian, so literally all I eat is seafood, but this has probably been one of the worst sushi experiences Ive ever had. I got nauseous at the smell and the taste. Its cheap for a reason I guess.

2023-06-11 21:46:10At this time, its my favorite local sushi place. Prices are cheaper than the usual place we go to (Mikunis, Blue Nami, Kima, etc). The service was fast and pleasant. The atmosphere is cozy. Sushi were great (but I would skip the fried oysters next time, not a fan). One limitation would be; the place is not set up for larger parties, but for a group of up to 6, Id highly recommend.

2023-05-18 19:27:50Ordered 2 orders of the #7 tempura roll ($6.95 each) and a bento box with sashimi and nigiri ($18.95)The nigiri was huge, bigger than any other place I’ve been to. Very good flavor.The tempura roll was crunchy and light, yet filling. The sauce was a little sweet.Customer service was fast and attentive, even during the lunch rush.

2022-06-12 01:56:44I came here as of a friends recommendation, and I have to say, it was amazing. I got the perfect rainbow roll, the orange blossom, and the fire dragon roll. I have to start this by saying the perfect dragon roll is a must-have when you come here. It is amazing, though note, the end pieces are a bit big, so take that as you will. One qualm I had was that the sushi wasnt cut all the way for only the perfect rainbow roll, but it wasnt a deal breaker for me.Overall, the customer service has been great. It was busy when I came, but I got such fast service. The sushi here is great, and I cant wait to come here again.

We aren’t super adventurous and stick with the basics, but this is our favorite sushi in the area!Lately we’ve been phoning in orders for takeout and they are super friendly and everything is ready to go on time.

2023-09-23 23:47:24This place is amazing! The fish is always fresh and flavorful. The Sacramento roll is delicious! The Lobster Roll is tasty, too. Definitely recommend! We normally just get takeout, but weve eaten inside too - both are great experiences.

2023-11-07 15:56:24We went mid week with our friends. There were a number of lobster roll specials, and blue fin tuna rolls which were terrific. Portion sizes are great, service and staff were wonderful. Also, the prices are much better than our usual place in folsom. This will now become our usual place

Rolls are consist, fresh, a good size, and overall delicious for a good price too!After trying a few sushi places in the area, Umi is crowned our favorite :)We like the hoss roll, perfect rainbow or rainbow, pepper fin tuna jalapeño appetizer, salmon love roll, bbq tuna. But you probably can’t go wrong with any of their rolls.The service is always great, and it look like it’s run by a hard working family potentially.Next time you come, I might be the person next to you, in the other booth, enjoying my weekly Umi sushi!!! :)

2016-10-23 09:10:47This is a great place to eat delicious sushi. I loved how they prepare their miso soup. And they gave us a complimentary diced orange after we had already paid the bill. The service was super great; very attentive but not to in your face annoying. Since I had never been their before I had asked the waitress what she recommended, after listening to what I dont and do like she suggested the perfect roll for me. Definitely will be coming back.
