Due to COVID restrictions, we were of course seated at their beautiful outdoor patio.The menu options were great, full menu unlike some restaurants who have cut down the offering.With exception of one item ordered which did not come out right (which by the way they offered to remake or take off the bill without hesitation), the rest of the items ordered were all 5/5 stars, on point with flavors, freshness, colors, and presentation! It definitely was enjoyable.One thing that stood out, the friendliness of the wait staff, 7 stars out of 5 :) a delight!
We luv Uncle Yu’s. We have been coming here for years. Was so disappointed today in the service. Something seems to have changed lately. All of the servers seem to be new, no more familiar faces. We ordered our usual 5 course meal. It took a long time for the food to be brought out. They started with 2 dishes. After waiting far too long we asked where is the rest of our order. It seems they didn’t remember that we had ordered it. By the time they brought it out, the rest was cold. By then, we wished we had went somewhere else. We had to ask for our bill as well, it seems they didn’t care if we paid or not. I hope this service was just a fluke today, if not no more Uncle Yu’s for us.
Upscale, quality delicious Chinese food in an elegant setting. Delicious food and friendly staff. Menu had a wide variety of authentic Chinese dishes. Hot and Sour soup was proper Chinese style with apt amount of spices. Salmon Spring Rolls are a must try in appetizers. Other appetizers we tried were Crab Meat Cheese Puffs and Pot Stickers. Best thing here is any menu item can be customized by removing or adding any meat, just mention that to waiter while ordering. We also ordered Crab Fried Rice, Kung Pao Chicken, Mongolian lamb, Chicken chow-mein and some chef special spicy chicken. We did not find any dish spicy even though it was mentioned spicy.I have to specially mention about the deserts. We ordered Exotic Bomba, Pistachio Ricotta Cake, Hazelnut Torta. They not only looked delicious but also tasted great.Plenty of parking is available behind the restaurant from where there will be enough walk. Definitely recommended if you are into pure Chinese delicacies.
Very good Chinese food. I feel like trying a new Chinese restaurant is more risky than most other types but Uncle Yus did not disappoint. The food was very good, a little pricey.We had Crab Meat Cheese Puffs, Lotus Chicken, General Tsos Chicken and Stirfried Garlic Noodles. All of it was good. I really liked the lettuce wraps and the garlic noodles went really well with the general tsos chicken.The service was not great though. I know it was Saturday night, but we had a reservation and still waited 40 minutes for a table. At one point they told us the party leaving our table already paid the check but hadnt left yet. Took another 20 min after that. The hostess apologized and offered a free appetizer for our trouble. That did help, but then the server didnt seem to have been told, she looked surprised when we mentioned it.After taking our order, we never really saw the server again. We saw her walk past a few times talking to other tables, but the only people who ever checked on us seemed to be passing bus boys.My recommendation: get it to go. Good food without the hassle of poor service.
5 stars all the way. Food was amazing with good taste and spicy dishes were great. If I was to say something critical it would be the hostess clothes were a little revealing for a place you bring family and friends to for higher end chinese food
We were a party of 12, and ordered from the Prix Fixe menu. Our selections came out great! Everyone was satisfied! We even had leftovers and took our desserts to go. Even the coffee was great!
We were going to the local theater and coming in from some 30 miles away, needed a nearby restaurant from where we could walk to our destination.Uncle Yus is about as close as one can get to ground zero, downtown Livermore. We ate outside to the sights and sounds of families enjoying the area, children running through the fountains and life as it should be.Our greeting was professional and the same was found with the sommelier and wait staff. Tables were graced with white linens and high quality utensils - always a nice start to an evening.The wine list has no equal in any restaurant within 30 miles. Every possible taste is covered with some 600 wines on a list that runs some 34 pages. Elegant wines from Europe, Australia. New Zealand and many choices from our own Napa and Sonoma counties. Lodi appellation was noticeably missing but they will figure that one out as that region wins more awards for its wines.Like the wine list, the menu is upscale with excellent choices from dim sum to whole lobster. We started with two dim sum dishes followed by the main dish in the photo and one bowl of rice. More than enough for two older appetites and quite delicious along with a respectable Old Vine Zin.Overall, a very pleasant experience and one which we will repeat when next in Livermore.
While they did try to make up for it, they do not pay attention to dietary restrictions. If you’re vegan or vegetarian, or have any allergies, not worth the risk. Waiter told us he was giving us “vegetarian potstickers” and was quickly confirmed after it was pork.
It was a lovely evening with great food and impeccable customer service. The vast amount of options are quite lovely. The various flavors complimented eachother nicely and the atmosphere was relaxing and welcoming. Highly recommend!
I have been here once before. It reminds me of PF Changs. The food is much higher quality than your average Chinese restaurant and the service and atmosphere is really good. I had the beef and vegetables. The beef was very tender and the flavor was good.
Passing through town looking for good Chinese food. Read the reviews and thought wed give this place a try. Have 2 kids and they both love the mixed vegetable dish. It was cooked well, just done not mushy. However, The rest of the food was nothing to write home about. We ordered beef Chow fun with wagyu beef and It had no wok flavor to it, as one would expect out of a good Chinese restaurant. It just tasted salty. The tofu dish was ok but could have used more tofu.

Strongly disappointed. Maybe Ive been to too many amazing restaurants to be blown away by this one. Tea smoked duck was pretty good, but not amazing. Dim sum dumpling sampler was fun and tasty, but not overly memorable, even though the flavors, like pumpkin, were interesting. Had an unidentified dish of beef and noodles which was nearly flavorless and should have been the exact opposite, not even worth taking for leftovers ... three dishes, three strikes. Not sure what the 5-star raters are tasting, but theyre not foodies, evidently. Ill go somewhere else next time!
Delicious food and excellent service! They have great lunch specials too. Recommend if you want Chinese food with a great wine selection. Dumplings were fantastic!

Bad food. We ordered Singapore noodles, gen tsos chicken, pad Thai, Szechuan shrimp - these were all bad. I would rate them 2 out of 5. L. The only good thing we had were the appetizer -signature dim sum which was 5/5 ($30). Not going back except for the dim sum
Gluten free menu! Had the GF honey walnut prawns. They were fantastic. The restaurant has a full page of gluten free items. Hubby and I shared a GF veggie fried rice, which was also really good. Upscale restaurant, so the entrees are a little more expensive, but it was worth it. Hard to find gluten free Chinese food and it was really good! Will definitely be stopping there again.
This place is always perfect for me. The food is always steaming hot, fresh and tastes amazing, the atmosphere is bustling and yet quiet enough to have conversation, and the setting is classy and warm. Above all though, the service blows my mind! I watch as everyone working moves at a quick pace and with such precision as to where food goes, who needs water, who is ready for desserts, what table linens need changed, and the friendliness of the staff is like a perfectly choreographed dance! Love Uncle Yu’s and we are so lucky to have them here!!!!
It’s so surprising to see an Asian fusion restaurant that does so well on making authentic food AND having good vibe. We got the honey walnut shrimp and the kings crab fried rice. The wine tasting menu looks very interesting and this is definitely something I would love to try! Overall it’s a bit pricy but great place to celebrate special events with friends and family.

Fun downtown Livermore location with superior and extensive wine selections and a helpful sommelier for those serious about pairing their wine and food for an optimal dining experience. As for me, I love wine and all the food is so good, I feel its impossible to go wrong! And just for good measure, they also have quite a tempting cocktail menu...Uncle Yus is one of the very best choices for an evening out in Livermore.
Yummy! I got the veggie chow mein to go, it was tasty and loaded with crunchy veggies. Came in a neat box, with a fortune cookie, soy sauce on the side and a fork.
Have been coming to Uncle Yus for years, unfortunately not tht best of the experience today. We were excited to be celebrating mothers Day but may be it was our luck got a very cold and uninterested server. There were order/food issues, table mess multiple times, hardly any check in between, no fortune cookies... Will take a break before coming back and give it another chance...
The dining experience, and the food is exceptional. The team goes above and beyond to cater to my needs. I really wish my meal didn’t cost $100. Not to mention the 18% tip on top of that. :(Regardless, if you want to have a nice night out, I suggest this restaurant.That being said, my $10 Panda express take out meal somehow feels much better a majority of the time and sure feeds a lot of people if I order $100 worth of food.

We had beef with asparagus, calamari, and peking spare ribs. and took a little home. The food was wonderful and the service and atmosphere were very nice. Yes, there were a few fruit flies but not enough of them to ruin a great dinner.
Exceptional food. Great wine. Fantastic service. This place is amazing. The crispy mushrooms and the tofu were next level. I’ve never had broccoli that tastes so good. It’s just broccoli but it tasted amazing. Highly recommended.
I went to Uncle Yus with my husband, two teenage boys, and 97 year-old father-in-law for lunch on a Sunday. The wait staff were very courteous and made sure we were served quickly so we could arrive at the Bankhead Theatre for a musical we were attending. The food was delicious and reasonably sized portions. We had the Honey Walnut Prawns, Orange Beef, Chicken salad, green beans, and noodles. We only had to walk a couple hundred feet to get to the Bankhead Theater from the restaurant.
The food is awesome, the service is excellent. Ive been going here since they opened, and they get better and better every year! Highly recommend!
Our favorite restaurant in Livermore Downtown! The location can’t be beat, the patio seating us awesome, next to the Lizzy Fountain park (great if you’re dining with kids). The food is very tasty, our favorites are Peking Duck, salmon rolls (appetizer), fried rice, and Mongolian Beef. We order take out here too - quick service, great food. Service is great on all sides, never had bad service at this restaurant and been going here for years.

I would love to give this restaurant a higher rating. Unfortunately, the experience was soiled by our server, Lacy. Let me first say the food very good and the place is well decorated.When we arrived at the table, we mentioned to Lacy that their were a lot of fruit flies where we were sitting. Her response was simply, we know. When I say a lot of fruit flies, Im talking at least a couple dozen fling around our table constantly. At least a half dozen ended up in our drinks and on our food.Not to belabor the point of the less than poor service, after Lacy took our order the only time we could get service was when we flagged her down. She was so inattentive that we had to walk over to the bus boys to get service.The only time that Lacy showed up and was personable was when she presented the bill. Even then, she didnt ask us is we needed anything or were enjoying ourselves. Ive had better service at In and Out Burger
Consistently good food options and wine selection. The crispy chicken and fried rice with pork chow mien is a good choice, add a wine flight to compliment your meal and you cant go wrong.
Uncle yus is excellent. Its been one of my favorite restaurants since age 5. Now at age 24 I enjoy it more than ever with their exquisite take on luxury chinese food along with my favorite cocktail, the singapore 75. Favorite dishes on the menu include chefs special scallops on the appetizer menu and the kung pao.
We came with a group of four to enjoy a B-Day dinner. We’ll the food was good. The servers were also very nice. The restaurant inside was disgusting, flies were everywhere! The food came out, not with out a cloud of flies! Disgusting to say the least. We killed two at the table. When we informed the waiter their honest response was, “ the owner knows we have told them and he doesn’t care”. We’ll guess what, after coming here for years we will never be returning. What a way to fly out of this place.

This restaurant is at a different level of quality than the regular Chinese restaurants. The food is really good, and the decor is a cut above. It costs a bit more, but its worth visiting if you get the chance.One of our party had orange beef: really good! It wasnt just the orange flavor, but the crunchy texture was something I hadnt come across before ...and I want to come across it again! I had the honey-smoked calamari - I must admit to only ever having calamari as an appetizer, so I was pleasantly surprised to taste this one show up in a glaze. Yum!Overall, I would certainly visit again one day.
Ordered Mongolian Beef menu days Wagyu beef, it was chewy like hard rubber which was boiled and served. When told this to server, he simply says “sorry about that” not sure why this place have soo many good reviewsWaste of money.

Uncle Yu’s is top notch in pretty much all aspects.The service is good, location is great and the food is excellent.Sometimes we will go for drinks and get all the appetizers to share cause they are that good.Other times we are selfish and get the dinners and desserts. I still haven’t had one dish that I haven’t liked.Uncle Yu’s is a place to make you feel spoiled and feel bad trying to find other good food.5 star for sure.
Service always matters and they succeded all around. The food though was stellar. Id definitely look at the chef specials because they have great flavor and spice to them. Someone clearly knows what they are doing in the kitchen and front of house is exceptionally well trained.
Superior service and delicious food. Ours was a party of nine and food was provided quickly. We all shared what was mutually ordered, so quick delivery of all entres was essential. We all also shared Pot Stickers and Crab Wontons. Enough of each was provided so all nine of us had a taste of each. Will definitely return again.
Its over priced I can get better Chinese food in Fremont for a better price. The bus boy was amazing our server seemed like he was bothered. Wasnt like we were rude but hes not the reason I wont go back. Outside area was nice.
We had an amazing experience for our wedding anniversary. Ive been here a couple times, and while Ive always enjoyed it, this last visit was superb.The food was great and the service was top notch. Our waitress was attentive and informative without being pushy. She even brought us a small pour of a wine pairing for the tea smoked duck (absolutely amazing dish) on the house.My wife likes this restaurant, and I normally am indifferent to going here (I like it, but never pick it), but this experience has definitely changed my view for the better.I would rate this visit higher than 5 if I could (relative to all my other reviews)!
Our first appetizer came quick, then we waited for a really really long time for the rest of our food we were expecting for 2nd appetizer to come after the first, I thought for sure we were forgotten, the waiter never checked in on us we had to make hand gestures to get his attention
Rude!!! Heard great things about this restaurant so we made reservations for our 15th wedding anniversary (I also noted it was our anniversary on the reservation). We show up about 15min early and when they were going to seat us, they tell us that are overbooked and asked if wed be ok to sit in the sidewalk by ourselves. It was dark in that area and definitely not a pleasant atmosphere. We asked if they could sit us somewhere else and the male host says...no, but could sit you in separate tables. Really?! I thought this was a classy restaurant, obviously not.
My wife and I love this place. Food is fantastic. Fresh, interesting, upscale Chinese-influenced food. The bar vibe is excellent. Rob the bartender is friendly, efficient, and anticipates what you need. Justin the manager runs a tight ship and it shows. Belle is a fantastic manager and server. You should get in your car now and head there.
Had a wonderful time at this beautiful restaurant Saturday night for our annual work Christmas dinner. Everything was just perfect and the room was beautiful. Cant say enough good about the place, the quality of the food and the service. Such a good time!
The food was very flavorful. The string beans were amazing. Beijing beef was great, salmon was wonderful. There were a few chicken dishes at the table as well and they were good too. Overall, friendly staff and a good experience... oh and all of the food came out hot and fresh!

Uncle Yus is a high-end, gourmet Chinese restaurant and the food, service and prices all go together here. Take your time and enjoy every bite. Also a good aidea to make reservations... Amazing wine list. They so have an in-house sommelier.
Been here a few times. The food is good, best thing Ive had is the beef with aged orange peel. The ambiance is nice, and the wait staff is on top of things. For all of that, its still a bit over priced. 75 for two people for dinner with no drinks. Nice place to go when you are looking to be extra fancy, but not somewhere Im going often.
I have been a fan of Uncle Yus for many years, Ive found their food to be consistently excellent. Tonight I ordered their whole lobster for takeout for my wifes birthday (FYI you need to order at least a day ahead for this, and it was pricey, but it was a milestone birthday). It was amazing.Uncle Yus never disappoints
Great place for a good dinner without spending a fortune. The food is high quality Chinese and international. Duck and seabass were excellent. They have a great love for wine, long wine list. I very much appreciated that you can order even only half a glass (close to a full glass) to taste some good wine, not only the open table wine. Leaves room for a second tasting or a sober drive home. Timing for food at the table, and wine in time with the food needs some fine tuning. Otherwise great service. Would definitely come back.
Weve ordered take out from this place twice this last month. The first time the food was reasonable, but a bit overpriced. But this second time was very disappointing. 4 of the 8 plates we ordered were far below expectation: the fried rice was made up of plain white rice, peas, unseasoned chicken, and a small amount of fried egg, nothing else, no seasoning at all. The pad thai was equally flavorless, like they had forgotten the sauce completely. The lemon chicken was dry slabs of unseasoned chicken with a thickened lemon sauce that has no sweetness at all, they had left out the sugar completely. And while the mu shu was okay, they only provided a few tablespoons of plum sauce to cover 4 servings. The soups and dim sums were okay, but even then, overpriced. Our daughter said it was the worse Chinese food she has ever had, and I cant argue. But I need to add that this was also the most expensive meal we have ordered in years. Lose, lose for me. Cant recommend.
I havent been there for Dinner but the Lunch options are superb! Great Service. The Lobster Shumai and Dim Sum tray are amazing and the Mongolian beef is not to be missed. I like things spicy, but my brother cant handle any sort of heat, so he just asked them to make it mild and it was no problem at all.
The food is consistently good. We usually come during lunch and get the lunch special which comes with hot and sour or veggie soup; white rice, fried rice or vegetable chow main; sauteed veggies; and a main dish. We always request to sit in Matthews section...he is THE BEST waiter - great demeanor, gives you enough space to enjoy your meal, but always checks in at the right time, and he has good wine recommendations! The food is good, but service keeps us coming back. :-)
This is one of the best Chinese restaurants in the Bay Area. Food is always nicely presented. Service is outstanding. Food is terrific. Especially outstanding is the Orange Beef, Peking Duck, and Rib Appetizer. Have dined here many times and never been disappointed. They also have an outstanding wine list and have complete paired wines and dinners. This restaurant is a true gourmets delight and easily compares with some of the best that San Francisco has to offer.
This place is honestly fantastic. While other locations of Uncle Yus can vary in quality sometimes, this place is *always* on point. Food is consistently excellent, and a the menu actually has a decent amount of diversity that you can keep trying new things every time.Service is always friendly. If youre in downtown Livermore and want a good place to eat, this is a good place to start.
The food and atmosphere is very good. Unfortunately, our server Lacy was one of the worst servers Ive had in a long time. She was rude, inattentive and unprofessional.

This place is a little pricey but its WELL WORTH IT!! The lobster shumai is SOOOO good! And the honey walnut prawns are to die for! The honey walnut prawns are literally the best ones that I have EVER had and I have tried a lot of honey walnut prawns from many many places and none compared to Uncle Yus!! AMAZING FOOD!!
We Had the sampler Dinner with the wine pairing it was phenomenal! The Somalia was very informative and give us a very good selection of wine paired with our meal. The meal was a secret because evidently it changes, Everything we had was delicious, it was a 4 course meal. Highly recommend taking the wife or a date to Uncle Yus for a delicious meal, very good for a special occasion.

Good quality of food and enough quantity. I ordered lunch special and takeout special from menu. Everything was nicely packed and ready to take at the set time. The only thing i was surprised was that the garlic noodles were just noodles with garlic flavor. No vegies, onion, scallion or anything in it. But maybe they make it that way. It was very tasty nonetheless. General Tsao Chicken was excellent. Cooked perfect with soft and moist chicken. Expensive than the average chinese places.
We always take our special guests to this place. Its a classy Chinese restaurant.... And has kept the cleanliness, quality of food and ambience through the years. Not even in the city (SF) or elsewhere, and I travel all over the place, have I seen a Chinese place as nice as this. Plus it has a good wine list! We love the tea smoked duck, the fried baby lobster in Salt and Pepper, the Chilean sea bass. Its worth the expense!
I came in alone and sat at the bar. I dont usually eat Chinese so Im almost clueless, and on top of that the menu is very exotic, everything sounding delicious, so I was stuck. The bar tender Robbie was helpful and patient in guiding me to one of the best meals Ive every eaten. A couple perfectly made drinks and I was ready to get out my laptop and get some stuff... No wait I shurked, chilled and had a good time. Perfect atmosphere.
Amazing food, amazing service. Justin is an amazing (I assume manager) and totally took care of my group of about 15 people. The regular server was awesome too but Justin made the experience ten times better by his great and friendly attitude. He really seemed to care about our group and that is an incredibly rare thing in todays world.

Excellent food very tasty, service was great. This was my wife & I first time as we decided to get Chinese after shopping @ the Livermore outlets for Christmas. The ambience was AWESOME on a cold Saturday night in December, plus downtown Livermore looks fantastic with all the Christmas decorations....We definitely will be back.
Perfectly located in downtown area, street parking available. This place is casual but nice. Menu had enough selections to satisfy our group of 6. Chef individually makes all sauces so you can customize according to your taste (spicy or not so much). Service was great!!! Definitely recommend!
I called and made an appointment for 2 people since My neck muscle hurts. I drove 15 mins to make the appointment (arrived 5 mins earlier than my appointment!!) and the front desk told me they let another couple in cause they share the same first name and therefore they don’t have place for us anymore. Can’t believe they can make such a simple mistake. What a waste of my time!
Amazing as always! Never have we had a bad experience here, either with food or staff. This restaurant is a MUST visit when in town & the wine list is just as amazing as the food.
If I could give 10 stars, I would.I had sworn off Chinese food forever (mostly due to food allergies, poor reactions to ingredients), but my son LOVES Chinese food and it was his 18th Birthday - so we were doing Chinese. My hubby had heard great things about Uncle Yus and after reading reviews for about 20 other restaurants, we chose Uncle Yus. I was quietly apprehensive, thinking we cant stay too late, Ill still need to fix my own dinner when we get home. No way was I going to take a chance on getting sick again, with discomfort and inflammation for the next few days.We got there, all of us excited to celebrate my youngest sons start of adulthood with his favorite food on the planet. I peeked at the menu, and thought wow, great menu, wish I could have some. We sat down, and I started perusing the full menu. A few minutes later, my husband pipes up, Hey, they have a gluten-free menu! Ok, Im thinking, Ill take a look (not wanting to get my hopes up). But I was pleasantly surprised to see quite a few choices, including items normally NOT available GF: prawns w/honey walnuts, peking chicken, etc. Maybe I dont have to wait until I get home for dinner!!Still a bit apprehensive (because Ive even gotten sick with menu items listed as GF at other restaurants), I placed my order: red cabbage salad, prawns w/honey walnuts, and garlic Singapore noodles (not on their menu - I asked them to modify the stir-fry garlic egg noodles to make them GF.)All I can say is Wow! Every item was fantastic, delectable, delicious and praise-worthy! Of course, I had serious leftovers (which I took on the plane with me the next day for a business trip - making all the other passengers jealous).Best part, I felt great the next day --- NO inflammation, no bad reaction, all was well.Uncle Yus, you have restored my love for Chinese food. If I had met the chef, I would have hugged him!When the family wants Chinese food from now on, I order to-go and it will ONLY be to Uncle Yus!My family ooohd and ahhhd through the meal, so Id say they were pleased as well. My son especially loved his meal (tailor-made orange chicken) and the delightful flourless chocolate torte they brought to say Happy Birhday.... again Wow!The service was excellent, friendly, knowledgeable and very accommodating to my food allergies. I know I can be difficult (though not intentionally), and they didnt bat an eyelash when I explained my situation.Thank you for making my sons Birthday a wonderful family experience, and one we will repeat as often as we can afford it!
The perfect lunch we did several Dim Sum dumplings and appetizers and it was just perfect. Delicious food wonderful service, I love this place
Used to love this place. I think other locations in Livermore now have more impressive and reasonably-priced menus. Final straw was my attempt at lunch today. It was rather quiet, it took a long time to seated, and despite being reassured they would take our order shortly several times, we had to leave after 30 minutes without having an opportunity to order.
We went to this restaurant for years but yesterday I realized that it no longer has the same quality. the menu is broken and you have to put the pages together to order. missing sheetsThe heaters dont serve the waiter I try to turn on 4 and none worked.We ordered a glass of wine and the waiter suggested another wine that he said was better and when we paid we realized that a glass of wine cost $ 18 dollars the waiter never mentioned the priceWe told the manager and he told us that all his wines are expensive. I havent paid $ 18 dollars for a glass of wine in the best wine shops in Europe.A very expensive restaurant for what they serve and bad service take too longvery pretentious this place there are much better restaurants in san francisco for much less.If you decide to go here, be patient because the parking lot is very crowded and you have to wait to find a place.You have to wait a lot for your food. If they suggest a better drink ask the price before.the portions are small if you have a good appetite as I better order 2 dishes.If you go at night, put on a sweater because it is cold and the heaters do not work.and dont expect good service and the manager he is very arrogant and rude.
Uncle Yus is an exceptional Chinese restaurant. From the atmosphere and decor to the service and the food, especially the food, its first class. Its not often that a Chinese restaurant has a multi-stage wine list.My wife and I had a beefy meal with beef chow fun, Mongolian beef, and our favorite, beef with aged orange peel. We added dry sauteed Sichuan string beans. Everything was well prepared and delicious. The beans were my personal favorite.Ive never had a poor meal at Uncle Yus.
Best fried egg plant and vegan food! Loved the flourless chocolate cake and lemon tart my family really enjoyed ourselves!! Excellent customer service we will be back again!!
Such a wonderful place! The ambience is great, as is the wine selection. And the food is excellent. The dim sum, though the choices are small, are among the best you will find in the Bay Area. Beautiful and tasty!
Amazing fresh tasting cuisine, sophisticated atmosphere, and the service is exceptional. I had the honey walnut prawn salad and the mango vodka martini. Wow!
This place it tring really hard. It is crazy expensive for what you are getting (mediocre Americanized food) the atmosphere is fancy and I dont really get the white tablecloth feel. Not bad but definitely not worth the price. People saying that it is the best Chinese food around or that they have had must be comparing it to takeout or panda express. Do yourself a favor and find an actual Asian person to take you to an authentic Chinese restaurant and you will be getting a much better meal.
Love this place!! Everything was AHMAZING! We had the best server named Joan. She took such great care of us! Definitely a MUST I really loved the King Crab fried rice!!!
Ive been a loyal customer of Uncle Yus since I moved here in 2007. I have been a huge fan of their take out service since quarantine. For the first time in my life, tonight, after my payment transaction, I was basically blocked at the door by the host who demanded to know if i paid for my meal.. I could not believe what i was hearing. I was shocked and humiliated to think I was suspected of stealing my meal. Management, teach your employees to pay attention, I literally paid for my meal right in front of him! I wont be back, ever.
Uncle Yus has manners. There was an issue of timing with only food item. We asked, we said never mind (we had more than enough) they said ok. They then brought our dish and did not charge us. Best Asian food with lovely wine pairings.
One of my favorite Chinese Restaurants in the Bay Area -- Its slightly more upscale than the typical Chinese Restaurant. They do a really nice job with the presentation of the food. A few notable dishes that I really like are the Peking Duck (although very pricey), the Kung Po Three Combo, and the Mongolian Beef. There is usually parking in the lot next to the restaurant. I also highly recommend making reservations for Friday and Saturday evenings.
Service was spot on. Disappointed with the menu not being same as online. Food was good but not 60 dollars per person good. Garlic noodles was the biggest disappointment. For an 8 dollar dish of noodles I expected more then a bowl of ramen noodles.

This is a great upscale Chinese restaurant situated in the heart of downtown Livermore.We had made reservations on a wrong day by mistake and when we showed up on a busy weekend, they maitre switched it around to accommodate us and within a short wait we got a table on the outside (which is what we wanted).The ambiance is nice - the outside seating with the view of the little fountain and downtown was beautiful.They have a great selection of wines and our server was knowledgeable and helped us pick exactly what we wanted.The food was delicious. We stuck to the traditional kung pao and General Tsos but both were excellent. Definitely a place where you can hang with family, friends and chillax soakin in the ambiance and feasting on great food.
This is our favorite Chinese restaurant - definitely not strip mall Chinese! The dishes are carefully prepared and served with flair. The wine list is very extensive, including many local wines. There are also several wine flights on the menu. The decor is beautiful and, keeping with Livermore tradition, outside dining.
Uncle Yus is an amazing restaurant irrespective of the type of food they serve. I love Chinese food in the first place, but Uncle Yus takes everything I like to the next level. I dont think I have had anything in here that did not knock my socks off. I have loved every meal to a level I didnt think was possible. And no, I was not drunk each time.

A staple, for me, of Livermore. I have gone to uncle Yus since they opened and am so glad they have remained. I left for the Marines in 2007 and every time I came back I would try and get me some YUS!! The honey glazed calamari used to be the best thing they had, but the chef changed or for whatever reason they changed it. Its still great, but it WAS unbeatable. Uncle yus is fancy Chinese food. You can get Chinese food items here, but everything is made with the best possible ingredients everything is fresh, everything is flavorful, and they have a killer drink selection. I love trying new stuff here, because you get a break away from traditional tastes for some truly unique fare. The personnel are very pleasant and generous, the lighting is low and romantic, and the noise is very agreeable.
Crispy chicken lunch special was delicious. The chicken was juicey and perfectly fried. Side veggies and were also yummy. Generous portion size.
Our large party (10 guests) was given excellent service by all of the staff. We enjoyed all of the food; wagyu beef mu shu, lamb in yellow curry, honey calimari, kung pao chicken, szechuan beef, chow mein, rice, and more. Great wines and beers and whatever sparkling wine they serve by the glass is so lovely! We all had a great time...
The food was excellent but the service was horrible. I went there on 2/23 at 1145am for lunch. We say down and it took the waiter some time to take our order. I noticed him take orders for people who sat down after us. So we finally get to order around 12 and our food did not come out until 1240. Since we were on our lunch break we didnt have time to eat and my co-worker had to take her lunch to go and wasnt able to eat because she had to be back at work. It shouldnt take 40 minutes for food to arrive. Not to mention just about everyone else in the restaurant was eating while we sat and waited. Doubtful I will return especially during lunch.
Our first visit, and we chose lunchtime to try Uncle Yus. The atmosphere is delightful, food is delish, waitstaff knowledgeable of how menu items are prepared, in order to best recommend for your palette. Definitely will be back. Yummm!!!
I loved everything about this place. I recommend The stuffed crab cheese for starters, and jumbo prawns. For dinner we ordered magnolian beef and honey walnut shrimp with crab fried rice. 😋😋😋 great service and vibe
One of our favorites! We go out of the way to eat there and enjoy all of their dishes. My husband likes the spicy stuff and I like the sweet. They have it all and with great atmosphere too!
My favorite Chinese across Dublin, Pleasanton and Livermore. Highly recommend the spicy dumpling as an appetizer and the sea bass for main course. Great drinks as they have a full bar including a good selection of wine from Livermore and beyond.
Great cocktails excellent service and outstanding food. This is not your run of the mill place. The dishes are creative and infused with fresh ingredients.
Pretty good food, the sweet & sour soup left a little to be desired and they dont offer and crunchy noodles for the soup.The lunch entree was good and seemed to be just the right size for a lunch portion.
We have only been here once so far but we had a great experience. The food was pretty good but ironically it was the fancy cocktails that stood out in our memory. There was a pear martini that was amazing.
The Asian lady who works there is always so sweet and fun to talk to. She seems so happy, and treats you as if you were her friend. The food is great too. Over all, great experiences.

We love Uncle Yus, but quality is a little inconsistent. Hits: scallops, any of the dim sum, cocktails. Misses: Peking Duck (luke-warm, not crispy, and stale tasting), Chinese Gougère (thin wrapper instead of choux pastry), Szechuan Shrimp (shrimp overwhelmed by a heavy, uninteresting sauce). The dinner menu looks a little more adventurous, but we havent tried it yet.Very pleasant dining room, and staff is always excellent. They gave us a discount unprompted when they noticed that wed left most of the Peking Duck uneaten and we admitted that we hadnt cared for it.
Great selection of wine, but when we chose a wine, they changed the year saying it would be cheaper, then did not change it in the bill. Food was too sweet (EVERYTHING was sweet...). Decor and environment was nice.
This is a higher end Chinese restaurant with great service, great food, & good vegan & vegetarian options. Weve had szechuan vegetables, kung po broccoli, home style tofu, a side of their spicy garlic pepper sauce, sorbet, orange no-jito, vegetarian pot stickers, lotus tofu cups, yu shang eggplant & vegetarian Singapore noodles. We loved the food, service & experience.

I had never tried Uncle Yus before. So I decided to order the Kung Po chicken for takeout. After trying it, I felt pretty disappointed. It consisted of very oily chicken and snap peas. The rice cost extra and was rather bland and dry. I would not order this again. Especially at these prices.
High priced Chinese food and it was not authentic. Wonton soup did not have fresh wontons. Fried rice had ham in it! What? Ham? Mongolian beef was served with steamed broccoli. Who does that? Thats not Chinese. Thats American Chinese. If you want to be the best authentic Chinese restaurant in Livermore, you better up the quantity of food for the price and select better sides for your main dishes. Who serves spinach in wonton soup. Use Bokchoy, its more authentic. People who eat there doesnt know any better thats why they continue to dine at this fake Chinese restaurant. .

The restaurant is very nice, decorated with wine bottles and other nice things. It looks like a high-end restaurant but the quality of the food is not any different than your typical hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant. There are many Chinese restaurants I would rather eat at.
Warmly lit.... jazz playing in the background, great waiter, great food. The only reason why they didnt get a 5th star was because the straw they issued was an insult! Seriously it was a piece of Hay and they were proud of this. I couldnt suck anything up and it left a bad taste in my mouth
The best dessert I have ever had. The hazelnut is the best. The fried rice is amazing and I love the atmosphere. The service was very fast and they knew what they were doing.

This is our every special event place to go. The food is fabulous, the staff is great. Dont miss the crispy eggplant, the thai dumplings or the orange peel beef ( among many other things ).

Last night I was disappointed in my experience there. Always great in the past but last night the service was very slow and the Honey Glazed Calamari was way over coated/breaded with little tiny pieces inside. I wont stop coming yet but hopefully improvements will be made.

Excellent entrees but weak appetizers. Mongolian beef and Singapore noodles were outstanding but potstickers and pork slices were dry and stale.

Was avoiding this restaurant during my stay in the area because I dont usually go out of my way for upscale Chinese. Had a lunch special which was priced very well and tasted great. Felt underdressed in jeans and a t-shirt based on the ambience of the restaurant.
General Tso and lotus chicken lettuce wraps were amazing! They have patio seating with heat lamps and the service was of course, great!

2023-08-08 18:10:08The restaurant overall is gorgoeus and provides plenty of seating, a nice spot for a dinner with family, friends or a companion.The staff is very friendly but had a hard time getting their attention during both lunch and dinner hours.They do have bar seating and I will be returning for their drinks, just might be my favorite spot in Livermore for cocktails.Food was good with large portion sizes-designed for family style eating so come with an appetite. If youre going for lunch I highly recommend the vegetable broth soup, for dinner the crabmeat cheese puffs are very satisfying. However my entrees fell short in comparison with the rest of my experience and its price point.I still plan to come again!

We went there after visit to the Winery and relished their 54 Savennr/ Iced Tea with Lobster Shu Mai and Har Gau (Lobster /Shrimp dumplings) for Starters. Our main course was Sweet & Sour Pork Noodles, Prawns & Vegetables with Rice, Lemon Chicken, Crabmeat Salad and Crispy Salt & Pepper Calamari. The ambience and decor are excellent. They have outdoor and indoor seating. The staff are great and helpful.

I started going to their location that used to be in San Ramon (Now Long gone for many years)Anyway, I have been to the Livermore many times and I’m surprised I haven’t written a review before now. Almost 5 Stars actually but I used to love their Chinese Chicken Salad but something has changed with their dressing. Not as sweet and savory but still good - not great anymore. Their other dishes are really good.We celebrated my birthday recently and had a really good meal with great service. This restaurant does get busy, so make a reservationWe started with Chinese Chicken Salad (like I said earlier good not great any longer) Sweet & Sour Pork (Good Flavor & not too saucy), Yu Shang Eggplant (Fantastic Dish) General Tao’s Chicken (really good dish we thought), and Singapore Noodles (Nice Flavor made with Curry but not overpowering). Nice meal!!Then they surprised me with a Birthday Treat (that was really unexpected) but a nice Sweet Treat to cleanse the palate and end our meal.I recommend going here if you are in the area.

2023-03-20 14:26:31This is the perfect place for a dinner date. It offers nice ambiance and an excellent selection of drinks. Food is yummy. I especially loved their dim sum. We ordered Har Gau, Spicy Crispy Shrimp and Chow Fun. Everything came out quickly and service was crisp.

Spacious interior dining with COVID safeguards. Ample outdoor seating is available. A bit pricey but its fine dining at an upscale Chinese restaurant with a full bar. Definitely, a place to return for those special occasions.Professional, friendly, and attentive staff.

But we are seated back by the kitchen and there are little flies flying around our table. I keep having to bat them away.The food was not great. The lemon chicken was good and the Sea Bass was okay but the veg fried rice was bland, no depth of flavor at all. The Wagyu beef with orange peel, which sounded great in the menu, was covered with breading and deep fried. That is not made clear on the menu. Theres basically no meat in this dish. The veg chow mein probably had the most flavor of anything on the menu.The ambiance is nice but the tables, chairs and carpet all need a serious upgrade! Im sitting in a chair with cracked leather in the seat. Tacky.So, bland food, bad chairs and bad prices! Do not recommend. 👎
