Very clean and lovely atmosphere at night! I love that they turn on the fire display in the front to give a more warm environment. This place looks very fabulous inside and out and is run by great and respectful people. My first interaction was very professional while ordering my dish for tonight! We also threw a few jokes over the counter to make each other laugh! Very welcoming environment, and you can tell that they enjoy working here. Tonight, I got the grilled salmon with an additional three sides. I love the fact that most sides are free with a pacific food item of need to make that the case! The food was great and delicious. Will definitely have to come back soon!

A perfect place to grab a healthy lunch. Centrally located near a bunch of shops on Lake. Great atmosphere and spacious seating, good location to catch up with a friend. A bit pricey but service is quick and the food is fresh and tasty. Staff is friendly. Will definitely be back.

Tried Urban Plates in Pasadena for the first time. Amazing location 👌. Service was okay. Food was definitely delicious. Shrimp kabob had an excellent parmesean twist. It was succulent off the stick. Steak was okay; not spectacular but the chicken had exquisite taste. Outside seating is an experience in itself as there a fireside flare. Great job Pasadena.

It was my first time at a Urban Plates and I really enjoyed it. We had the chimichurri steak and the chicken tenders, and as sides: mac n cheese, fries, Cesar salad and quinoa. The fries were delicious! The other things you need to add salt for them to taste good. I also had a glass of wine (red blend). The atmosphere was great, the servers were really kind and went above and beyond.

This is an awesome place in a very comfortable way. The food is well-executed and fairly priced. I live in NYC, not Pasadena, but if we did we’d be here at least 2-3x a month (maybe more for healthy lunches).Nice street side patio, industrial vibe inside. Open kitchen. You do hear sounds from the kitchen but they seem to blend into the background. Ordering is a snap, especially if you download the app. There were people who walked in and ordered at the counter but they seemed more confused and that seems so much less efficient. We just sat down at the table, entered our table number into the app and food and drinks just appeared, almost magically. One thing on the app they could improve is that it makes you enter the location repeatedly for subsequent orders, which slows things down. And ordering stepwise makes sense, especially for a larger party (we had 6).The food? Tasty goodness: can be reasonably healthy (although not for me as I ordered chimichurri steak, fries and roasted mushrooms). My only issue with the food was the chimichurri, which could have used more spice and more acid for a more vibrant and balanced flavor. But that comment alone should tell you what you’re dealing with: awesome and wholesome food well-prepared by the chef on staff. Steak and two sides: $20. Tofu: great. Chicken tenders: perfectly fried and crispy/tender. Beer, wine: nice choices. Awesome sides. You can construct a healthy and tasty meal here, lots of great vegetables. If you’re lucky enough to be near one their spots, go now.

I’ve been 2x now and enjoyed both meals very much! It’s a little pricey, but the quality makes up for that. The ambiance is modern rustic. There is a beautiful long fireplace lining the patio-great for an intimate lunch or dinner that seats many people and overlooks Lake Ave. The inside is open and airy with lots of seating. You grab your own napkins and utensils as well as your number. The tipping is a little odd since they ask for it when you pay, but there are technically no waiters, only bus boys.There is a wide variety of food that is fresh, tasty and healthy. I have a good appetite and I think the portions are great. The chicken club sandwich was wonderful and the bread tastes like it’s made in house. The salmon was perfectly cooked and tasty. Everything came out fairly quick and I was impressed that nothing was overdone or underdone. The iced mint green tea with honey was perfect. One of the best iced teas I’ve had.If you are trying to eat healthy but want to have a delicious meal and somewhere more upscale than say Chipotle, but still casual, this is a fantastic option. I highly recommend and will be back again!

Good for anyone looking for simple modern American diner food. Feels like Whole Foods hot plate section but into a restaurant. Maybe we just need to give it another chance? Only thing we liked was the Ahi Salad.House sodas are refillable? Urban Plates offers fresh bites and comfort foods in healthier options. I enjoy coming here when I dont feel like cooking but want something more on the homemade/healthy side. There are plenty of places to sit both inside and out of this location. They offer a kombucha on tap. You can also order your food beforehand for pick-up, which they have a special line for.

I have been ordering door dash from this location, and the food was already cold when it was delivered. I am not going to complain about that because delivery takes time.I finally get to dine in this pass weekend. The restaurant is very cute. Modern industrial decoration is my style. I order steak salad. The steak was cold when it was delivered to my table, which was as cold as the ones I ordered from door dash. I was a bit sad as I was expecting a warm steak that fresh off the grill. The taste was a bit blend, and they did not give me enough salad dressing. Unsure if I want to return and give it another try.Parking is available in the structure and this restaurant validates the parking.

WOW! I received 10-Star customer service just now. The staff at this Urban Plates is AMAZING and this is the only location I want to visit from now on.Long story short, the website was fritzing while trying to add more items during an order and messed up everything (corporate, you need to fix that).Upon pickup, James (the really kind and patient Team Member who helped me) took it on the chin and made sure to make everything right. This fast casual restaurant has been serving Pasadena for several years. The menu is more streamlined now but there remains a variety of dinner plates, bowls, salads and sandwiches. We ordered the steak salad and chicken Cobb salad. They came with a slice of cold grilled bread. The flourless chocolate cake and apple pie were very good, not too sweet. The dining room and patio are both spacious. The service is fast and efficient.

Everything was burned and the burger had an extra burnt piece inside on the bun. I appreciate a grilled bun on a open flame but if you can’t do it maybe you shouldn’t. Anything on a bun or with bread was completely burnt. The 2 stars are because my daughter enjoyed her steak kids meal minus the toast that comes with it.

The menu has a lot to select from, ranging from soups, salads, sides, cakes, drinks, steaks and fillets. Staff were really friendly and patient. Dining area is well lit and decorated.I ordered a Braised Beef and Mushroom bowl with Mashed Potatoes on the side. I also ordered a side of Macaroni and Cheese. Also ordered was Sea Bass fillet with brown rice and Roasted Bay Potatoes. We had Stubborn Root Beer and Mint Iced Tea for drinks. Water is self serve.Personally, I found that the Mashed Potatoes and the Macaroni and Cheese were delicious and well seasoned, but the Braised Beef and Mushroom was a bit salty for my taste. The beef was incredibly tender. For the Bass, I felt that it was under seasoned and a little dry. The Roasted Bay Potatoes tasted good but seem dense.I recommend tasting the Mint Iced Tea. Refills on teas and sodas were free at the time of visiting. Additional seasonings, like black pepper, salt, Sriracha, and olive oil, are available at the counter for self serve.

I used to have nice experience dining here, but today’s dinner completely changed my opinion. So although i stopped writing reviews since three years, I decided to write some words here.This was the WORST dining out experience ever since I came here in US.Both the portion and the quality of the foods we had were much worse than last time. I ordered the exact same dish as before and they first gave me about half the portion of the meat, which was overcooked and burnt.The meat was not tender and felt like chewing a rubber. As you can see from the photo, there was a stark difference between the past photo (third photo, one with brighter light and more portion) and the recent one(1st photo). I thought i got a kids’ menu dish.And it was not only mine. My friend also ordered the same dish and she got even less. And my other friend ordered a beef sandwich(2nd photo), which was terrible. The beef was overcooked and even though i did not try it myself it looked awful. There were lots of burnt on the meat and he said the meat was too stiff.After getting that sad portion of chicken plate, I showed them the past photo (third photo), and they gave us more chicken-which would be a natural response for anyone who saw that difference in portion, but the meat was awful. It was overcooked so it felt like a rubber. (4th, 5th photo)I don’t know why urban plates changed this much. Perhaps they hired a new chef? Or the chef was drunk? I don’t know. Urban plates, you should definitely pay more effort on maintaining the food quality. This was definitely not a meal worth 18 dollars. I’d say 10 dollars at most including the tip.

Holy freaking grass-fed cow the steak sandwich is truly masterpiece of flavors and textures that deserves a spot on the menu in heaven.Now that Ive got your attention let me tell you the tale of our first visit to Urban Plates. It was a birthday dinner on a Sunday evening with a large party of 30-50 people. The birthday boy arranged with management to reserve an entire section of the dining area for our group. I dont think they actually take reservations so it was nice of them to accommodate us. That said, the kitchen and staff were really on top of their game. Even though they were totally slammed with orders our food was delivered to our table in less than ten minutes. Thanks to those guys and gals for great service.I ordered the steak sandwich with an additional side of mac n cheese and my wife ordered the chicken tender plate. Incidentally, a comfort food favorite of hers since childhood. We were both very impressed with the quality of the food at such a reasonable price. Truly a food joy experience. My wife is really looking forward to trying the hot chicken on our next visit.I personally believe that if there were a contest for best steak sandwich in Pasadena the chimichurri steak sandwich at Urban Plates could beat the very popular beef dip sandwich at the high end place just down the street.Very high quality food for a very reasonable price.Fun Facts:-Urban Plates first location opened in San Diego in 2011.-Founded by Saad Nadhir and John Zagara the chain currently has just over twenty locations mostly in Southern California. They have plans to slowly expand outside of California.-Their website claims that their food is all scratch made with organic ingredients. Using hormone and antibiotic free grass-fed beef, sustainable salmon, and never frozen chicken.So, do yourself a favor and give this amazing place a try soon.

Place was filthy as hell. Baby seat even more dirty we had to scrub it for over 10 min to get the black and brown stuff off of it. Food plates were not the same as I once experienced in a location near airport LAX when it was rather newly opened at the time. Our table was outside so it was not clean either. One of my guests ordered sandwich and got a different order altogether which was not fresh meat (you could see the color of the old food visibly) and Caesar salad was abysmal at best. Weve been there quite a few times before (pasadena) and I really love their salmon! Its my fave out of the plates they have, altho the steak comes in close on 2nd place. Their sides are good especially the brussels sprouts. Their drinks (replenisher) are tasty and refreshing and the desserts are so good especially the banana cream pie. Today, we had a little reunion gathering and we stayed in the restaurant for quite a long time but everyone was nice. No one tried to make us leave or make us feel like were on their way and another employee even helped take a group picture for us. Maria, the cashier who helped us was very nice and had a lovely, positive service and was very patient even when our group took awhile to decide their orders. I will never get tired of going to this Urban Plates coz their food and service are wonderful!

All the food is pretty delicious. Weve had multiple main dishes, the chimichurri steak and chicken tenders with dill ranch, sooo good! The desserts, not a bad one on the list. Chocolate flourless torte is better than most Ive tried.Im knocking down one star just for the rice and Mac and cheese. If its a meat-eating establishment and Mac and Cheese is offered, a vegan version should be an alternative choice and not the main. It was not deceiving and just tasted of pureed vegetables with bland noodles. The rice was seasoned well but dry.

Came here for lunch around noon on a Monday and it was not busy. I got the salmon dish, which comes with 2 sides, so I got brocollini and sweet potatoes. The food was solid--I definitely got full. I also got a piece of chocolate cake, which was amazing. The restaurant itself was chilly inside however. I got a cafeteria vibe and not more of a restaurant vibe. I wish the environment would have felt more homey/comfortable, but besides that, a solid spot to eat.

We tried Urban Plates for the first time today. We were drawn to the restaurant by the nice fire pit. Upon entering the restaurant it smelled clean and fresh. The menu had many varieties to chose from. I got the salmon with Brussel sprouts and my partner got the chicken with Brussel sprouts and potatoes. Dekayla was very helping at explaining the menu and answered all our questions. She was even nice enough to give us a sample of the fresh drinks they had. Dekayla was very friendly and helpful made our experience here fantastic. We will definitely be back in the future.

I used to come here pretty often but lately have been noticing a drop off in quality. I got the grilled chicken plate and pretty much all of the chicken was over salted and burnt black. The roasted potatoes were soggy as well! Its not inedible but I couldnt enjoy it much at all.Im pretty disappointed since I used to enjoy coming to urban plates often but the prices have been increasing and the quality has been decreasing.

Food was good.Staff was friendly and fast.Patio seating available. However, chairs between parties are not 6 feet apart but there are plastic partitions if that matters to you.The line to order inside can get quite busy and wrap around the room. There are social distancing markers on the ground. I wish the line wrapped around the inner right corner instead of going straight to the door entryway. Since the line was long, it went past the door so anyone new entering would have to walk past the existing line to get to the back of the line. It doesnt help that the post the paper menus near the doorway where people are literally waiting in line so you get a lot of intermingling amongst parties who are waiting in line, grabbing menus, and those trying to get to the back of the line. I wish the paper menus were available outside instead. Just my 2 cents.

The food was superb, the staff are kind and all smiles, the outdoor seating by the fire was A+ comfort, the price was budget friendly and the service was swift. It was so good I even went back and ordered food to go for my lunch tomorrow! Who doesnt love urban plates?! The only challenge for this location is finding parking, as it can be competitive and paid. However, if you happen to be an LA Fitness member, you can enjoy free parking, which is a nice perk.The mashed potatoes are absolutely amazing! They are creamy, flavorful, and simply melt in your mouth.Despite the parking situation, I highly recommend giving Urban Plates a visit. The delicious mashed potatoes and the overall dining experience make it a worthwhile destination. Just be sure to plan accordingly and enjoy the incredible flavors they have to offer!

The food was delicious but my tummy had a hard time digesting the food because of all the grease. In fact, my girlfriend and I both had some really loud tummies for the rest of the night- it was like a war going on inside! Besides that issue, we had a great dining experience. The place felt clean and the food services staff were very friendly. The place is designed like an upscale cafeteria so you can choose from a selection of salads, main plates, drinks (both alcoholic and nonalcoholic), desserts, and others. The prices seemed a bit high but it’s somewhat justified by the claim that everything is “made from scratch.” The ambiance felt really comfortable with plenty of seating indoors as well as outdoors. There’s even a fireplace outside for those who want to stay cozy on a cold evening. There’s a parking garage next to the restaurant that provides free parking up to 90 minutes for customers with a valid receipt.

My 1st time eating here...Its was just ok for me. The club sandwich was good. I was overall underwhelmed. Their brand of drinks / brand of sodas are perhaps an acquired taste. Lemonade was sour and diet cola was more like flavored water. Everything was fresh and it was a much healthier choice for lunch. Im not if sure I would return.

He encouraged me to write a review which is not a habit in my old Chinese Culture.About 8 to 10 years ago I invited my San Jose daughter to dine at URBAN PLATES (UP). I then had never gone back to UP except a few times in a decade being insisted by friends.I like everything there especially their friendly service but I seldom go back (before year of 2020 the COVID Pandemics) because I could not take the stresses with people waiting behind me while I needed to tell the food server one item by one item among so many varieties of fresh vegetables and good foods, with my confused brains.A couple weeks ago, my friend from State of Missouri missed UP’s good salad. This time I was very much impressed by UP’s change of the way in getting orders! Simple, clear and easy with a big sign by the entrance showing pictures of well fixed items and prices. I didn’t feel confused anymore.Tonight I dined at UP on my own without being forced by friends. I ordered Chicken Cobb Salad which is so delicious except the avocado is too raw and hard to chew. I then ordered another salad bowl requesting ripe avocado, the Beets + Avocado with quinoa and other good stuff, oh, it is just sooooo delicious and the avocado is ripe (they listen to customers’ requests). This is a MUST BOWL!!Urban Plates had made changes for good. From now on, I will invite friends and relatives to eat there regularly. I missed their good and fresh organic butter lettuces served before COVID Pandemics and wish this item will come back 😇😇

They have a canteen style ordering system, but I believe you can also order online.I ordered seared ahi tuna with rice and veggies it also comes with a garlic toast. It was soooo delicious I finished my whole plate.My husband also loved his meal. Love the grass fed steak plate with choice of two sides. The beef is pretty good for the price - never stringy or tough. They cook it pretty rare, so check the box if you’d prefer more medium. The sides are always tasty and they rotate them often enough that the selection doesn’t get stale. Solid deal for what you get.

This place is set up cafeteria style where you go to the station for what you want to order. Ex. You go to the pizza oven for pizza. The food is fairly expensive, $15 for plate, however after eating it, I can say the quality is top notch. The food has flavour that gushes in your mouth. I admit that at first I was eating with my eyes and didnt think 1 plate with an entree and 2 sides would be enough but I was wrong. The meal was filling and is like if you took the time to make it yourself. Highly recommended if you want to eat something healthy. 4 stars only because of the price, which is understandable.

This restaurant is a wonderful establishment. I have been going here for a long time and I have loved it! They have a great macaroni and cheese, which is nice, warm, and fresh, unlike most competitors. Also, they have great steak, which tastes nice and juicy. Surprisingly, one of my favorite dishes was the unlikely Vegan Tomato Basil Soup. Vegan food usually isnt very appealing to the regular person, but this soup was an exception. The soup had a large amount of flavor, and was served with a delicious stick of bread, covered with herbs and olive oil. These two items blended together almost perfectly, and it tasted great! I hope you take this review into consideration when you go out for lunch.

Ive only gotten takeout (curbside pickup) as Im not comfortable eating out during the pandemic. I once ordered some cookies which were left out of my order, didnt realize until I got home. Took a couple days to get them reimbursed but no issue, and the manager was very sweet.Everyone makes mistakes so Id still give them an A for customer service. The food has been delicious everytime too (Ive ordered one of their sandwiches, a few of their bowls, their salmon... Not all in one order lol).Highly recommend!

We visited this restaurant in the past, and thought Monday would.be a good way to start our week with a bit of lunch out. What a disaster, we ordered a portobello sandwich with red potatoes extra and a grilled chicken sandwich with extra potatoes and their cowgirl cookie. The food is really good. I always appreciate when theres indoor and outdoor seating. There was also no line when we went so thats always amazing. The servers could be a little nicer but overall a good experience. If theres one thing I can suggest, I hope there would be more vegan options but I was still very happy with my 4 UP plate.

Smells like heaven walking in. Clean floors food prep areas. Manager and employees were happy and helpful. Unique fruit drink options. Large plates of fresh tasting meals. You walk into Urban Plates and instantly feel like youve picked the right place for your meal. I had been meaning to go here for months and finally went in and was impressed beyond measure. The options are great, fine quality, great atmosphere, and very compelling prices. I feel like this is a place I need to frequent very often. My only gripe was that our food was a little colder than I wanted due to fraternization amongst employees and taking longer to ring us up on an otherwise empty evening. I carry I longer leash then most and thoroughly enjoyed the meal but the critique is warranted.

Really good place to get lunch. The food is fresh and they have a great selection. I typically get the salads and have always enjoyed them. They are prepared fresh for you and are large enough to be filling. The only real issue is that ordering can seem a bit chaotic as it is a buffet style system. They generally move people along, but it can be offputting. It can be really difficult to stay in your group if more than two of you are going there. If only one of you is paying it can be ever harder to stay together so one person can pay. The prices are okay, a little expensive for what you get, but what isnt expensive in California? Check their menu before you go, as they do have a good selection of food.

If its youre first time make sure you ask a lot of questions because the way you choose what kind of meal or combo you want is kind of confusing without explanation. The staff and chefs are very friendly and helpful and the food is phenomenal. I ordered off the kids menu cause Im broke and I got the macaroni with fruit and chips. My mom ordered steak, corn and, roasted carrots. The vegetables were perfect and the steak was perfectly medium rare. The natural sodas were even better and tasted refreshing. The atmosphere is homey and welcoming. I definitely recommend coming here.

Idk if I went at a bad time or what but I got a plate with chicken, potatoes, chicken soup and bred. The soup was great but the rest of the food was cold and chicken was dry. You could tell that it had great flavor but because the food wasn’t hot it just through me off. Because the vibe was so good I would definitely go back and give it another try.

Wow. So I found this place on Door dash and I ordered the the Grass Fed Steak Salad. When I was about to checkout, I noticed there is no place to provide additional comments and this is very important to me when I order any steak option because I need it well done as my system rejects red meat so I since I could not find where to add that comment I gave them a call. I spoke to a young man and told him I must stress that the steak meat has to be well done, he told me okay Ill let the kitchen know. When my food arrived I noticed my steak was very rare and red so I gave them a call and spoke to a young woman about my issue, she then transfered me to the manager, and there is when I had one of the best customer service experiences in awhile. He understood my concern, and explained that the young man who told me he would notify the kitchen did not, and he will speak to him. Also he told me he probably got distracted however that was no excuse and my order should be the way I want it with well done steak. He stressed to me how important it is to make me happy and satisfied, where then he gave me the option of mailing me a gift cards or contacting door dash for a refund. His name is Anthony Martinez and just by the customer service experience I just had, regardless of the mishap with my order, I am a Urban Plates customer. I live so close to Urban Plates and yet I have not tried it for such a long time. Finally because of Corner Bakery closing early at 8pm, I had to meet my friends somewhere so I decided to give Urban Plates a try. I knew that they have $10 plates but honestly I couldnt find them on the menu before I had to order.I looked at the pictures and decided on a tri-tip steak with chimichurri sauce. I have always liked chimichurri sauce and the brussels sprouts looked really good. So I got the tri-tip steak with mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts exactly like the picture. The tri-tip steak was really tender and soft and the brussels sprouts were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I wish I could make brussels sprouts like that.My friend ordered a plate with quinoa and beets and it looked good as well.All in all, everybody is happy with the food there and I long to go back and eat try some other dishes.

I got their grilled steak plate for lunch. The steak is better than what I expected, they cut slices and grilled them on fire to your request in front of you. The plate lunch includes two veges sides and a slice of toast, those made the meal pretty complete to what I want for this lunch. Good, simple food at a great price. Urban Plates is just good quality eating at a nice price. Its set up buffet server style with a few different choices. You can get custom built salads, hot plates with chicken, fish and beef or choose from a variety of bowl options. They also have tasty cakes and a decent selection of wines. The food is of high quality and isnt over loaded with salt. Ive been to other Urban Plates locations and the one is the Pasadena is the best one Ive been to. Best go-to plate option is the honey mustard salmon with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. Hummingbird cake is really good too.

This is our second time here. Food is good. The braised beef and mushrooms is good but too salty. Chicken Club is delicious. The Wild caught Albacore is lightly grilled....the grill marks give a nice flavor to the meal. Overall, not too bad!

I dont know what happened to my original review so, let me rewrite it. This was my first time coming here. I was on my way to Meniceno Farms, but saw a long line. I saw this place with no customers so, I decided to give them a try. I got a chicken sandwich plate. I dont remember the name. I saw them cook the chicken really quick so, I thought the chicken was precooked. I got home, ate it and suddenly felt really sick. I normally dont get sick unless the food was really bad. I was burping sour chicken for days. If you go here, just dont order the chicken.

My wife, kids and I truly like this place. It serves all kinds of foods. There are greens, plates, bowls, soups, sides and even kid meals to choose from. The only downside I find is sometimes, the food tends to be dry, perhaps from heating up for too long or no one orders that particular food. Other than that, I have no other complains. My wife always find this place very convenient for any kinds of eaters. My son loves their Mac N cheese, chocolate chip cookie and chocolate cake. My wife and I tend to eat their salads, soups and/or plates. I do recommend to my family and friends.

This has become one of our best go to places for dinner. First of all, we find the food to be great. We enjoy the salads and many of the entries. Im particularly fond of the wild albacore. Good food, the salads seem to dramatically differ with who is making them. Last time I was there I got a beautiful baby kale Caesar salad. This time it was kind of puny and hardly any baby kale.Also, the Salmon seem to be cooked differently, not as moist.Everything else was tasty.

I found this place at random, and I’m so glad I did! I was craving some brussels sprouts, so I typed that in Google maps and off I went in search of a new food adventure. I’m not vegetarian, but this place has a lot of good vegetarian and vegan options. I ended up deciding on the chimichurri grass fed steak, with brussels sprouts (of course) and roasted potatoes. My food was so amazing I have no pictures. For dessert, definitely try the hummingbird cake as it’s the best hummingbird cake I’ve ever had. I have some friends coming into LA next week to visit, and I’m definitely going to bring them here!

I have had several negative experiences at this Urban Plates location. The food is good. But when I dine alone, if I leave my table for less than 30 seconds, my half full plate and half full wine glass is immediately taken away. Even though I left my purse and phone to indicate I am not finished with my meal.When I complained to the manager, he offered me a cookie. I cannot relax and enjoy my meal being rushed out. Very frustrating!

Once you figure out what you feel like eating (salad, sandwich, pizza, etc), you go to that station to order. This was a new concept to us,instead of standing in one, big line.Once we figured that out, it was beautiful, organic or sustainable food, the chefs take great care in getting your plate ready. The taste is really fresh. We were there for lunch. Its cafeteria style with lots of different seating, very clean, the workers are nice, the decor is urban loft with greens and smoky browns - cozy!
