My husband and I ate here and the food was delicious. The service was excellent. The manager, Kenton, was awesome. We will be back.I had the Asian chicken salad and my husband had the chicken tenders. We had a mango tart for desert. Everything was incredible.

Warning this is Fun and friendly dining experience.Don’t go here unless you want to be wowed by a flavorful assortment of dishes healthy and or hearty. I loved the braised beef dish. It was like Asian comfort food. I loved every bite. It has an open atmosphere seating was comfortable and the staff was super helpful. We will be back

The staff here is amazing. Leslie, the cashier, is very friendly, and this location is always very clean. I go out of my way to drive to this location specifically because of how great the management staff is as well. The food is always made with fresh ingredients and tastes amazing.

What truly stood out to me was the exceptional service provided by the staff. They were not only attentive and efficient but also genuinely passionate about making sure I had a memorable time. EDIT.Do not order takeout from them. My first experience below should have taught me something, but I thought wed give it another try and used uber eats to order our favorite plates. Steak was good, but my seared albacore although looked beautiful and fresh - was very fishy. I couldnt even finish half the slice. This is so frustrating that this restaurant cannot be trusted with takeout.Dine-in in only from now on.Original review.First time we tried this place by picking up the order and eating at home. I was not impressed, because steak was overcooked, sea bass undercooked and the braised beef stew did not taste half as good as it looked. Also they forgot to include dessert we paid for. The manager reached out to me and sent us a gift card, so we could come back and try it again.We gave it another chance and I can confidently say that dine-in experience is absolutely perfect and I would come back times and times again, because everything was outstanding: the food, the service and the ambiance. Every item was cooked and seasoned to perfection and we could taste freshness in every dish.Mango tart was absolutely HEAVENLY.Portion sizes and quality of food are really worth the price.I highly recommend this restaurant.

Not sure why they dont come to your table and offer refills on your drinks. I have to get up and take my glass to the front cashier for more soda. This is all Urban Plates locations. Its weird.Other than that, the food is really good. I love the roasted garlic potatoes.

Urban Plate was way over expectations! We’re from out of town and had no idea where to go for a nice fresh lunch. What a jackpot! We had a nice size group, in for a business meeting, everyone found something on the menu that was totally satisfying. We all had such a great experience that we talked about these guys the whole next day. Urban Plate will be on the short list every time we’re in town.

It was a busy Saturday evening. A nice vibe for families and couples. My steak and Brussel sprouts were good. I’m gluten free and dairy free. They had plenty of dinner options for me, but not dessert options (but I don’t fault them for that). My husband said his salmon was slightly overcooked. And he didn’t like the tomato basil, but after he found out it didn’t have dairy he thinks that’s why. It was vegan but not gluten free or I would’ve tried it.

I had to take off two stars because despite the good food, they don’t give free refills on their house drinks. This is pretty crummy, especially since they add a mandatory 3% surcharge on every single bill. Sad to see a good restaurant resort to penny pinching measures like no free refills, and I can’t support that.

The meat carver could afford to smile a little more and look less annoyed but the rest of the staff was pretty friendly. They are located in a very busy shopping. The food here is top level. The grass fed steak is cooked to perfection, topped with chimichurri it is mouth watering! The mini multicolored potatoes are so flavorful! Im not a huge fan of the brussles sprouts, but other in our parry really liked them super happy with their natural sodas and refills, I chose pineapple flavored soda, its quite an indulgent treat. Also grabbed a cowgirl cookie with was fresh and tasty. Everything was fresh, top quality along with friendly service. Beautifully plated as well. Cant wait to go back!

Decided to try this place after being in my bookmarks for a long time. The restaurant is very well structured. Its cafeteria style. Once you go in, there are two lines; one for salads and one for the rest of the menu (entrees, sides, sandwiches, soups, etc). We saw a few people in the salad line and the salads are made in front of you, with fresh ingredients.We ordered the sea bass which came with two sides. I chose the roasted cauliflower and Brussels sprouts. Everything was delicious.My husband ordered the osso bucco with mashed potatoes. The lamb was tender and the mashed potatoes were silky smooth.Cant wait for the next time I go to Irvine. I will definetely be eating at Urban Plates.

My favorite “fast food” place in California! Everything here is chef inspired with locally sourced ingredients. Even though though their menu has many staple dishes such as steak, chicken, and fish, you can have them tastefully paired with many various side dishes. So on a mathematically level, there are just so many combinations of flavors you can try here!Their desserts are to die for! Try their craft brews and juices too!

Very disappointing... Urban Plates used to be one of my favorite places to eat. This time the food is below my expectations. The steak was like leather, chewy and inedible. The broccolini was salty. The feta cheese on the beets was one tiny dot. On top of that, they now put a 3% surcharge on the bill, quote to provide heath benefits to all full time employees unquote. So be aware. I wouldnt have known about this had I not looked at the receipt. Im a generous tipper, but for what I paid for this lunch, I would give it a solid D.

Im a delivery driver for both Uber and Doordash. I pick up food for delivery every day from many restaurants in the region but wanted to give such feedback as I admire the professionalism of this “Urban Plate” branch. Food here gave me food poisoning. This was the only thing I had the entire day because afterwards I felt sick and had diarrhea which is also going on as I type this. Ordered the Chimichurri steak plate with mash potatoes and Brussel sprouts. Only thing that came out fine were the mash potatoes. Brussel sprouts were very sour and bitter. Steak was horribly chewy I only ate half of the serving and tossed it away. The cashier worker that took my order kept looking at me like she already knew the food was bad but didn’t want to say anything. I could’ve done a better job cooking this dish myself at home. I get dinner from here once a week for my family and me. The quality of food is always great and it’s already ready quickly so I can pick it up on my way home from work. We love the steak and chicken tender plates. It feels like very elevated comfort food, and it’s always flavorful and satisfying. If Urban Outfitters and Whole Foods had a baby... this is what it would look like. The layout of the restaurant is somewhat like a cafeteria. There is a produce and meats section where you can pick from the different plates. You shuffle your way down the counter to a register and pay for your meals. There seems to be plenty of seating and it doesnt look like it gets beyond capacity too often.The quality of food is on par with what you would find at a whole foods. The pricing here is on the high side and you do not necessarily get large portion sizes in return. If you have a big appetite, this place will get very expensive - very fast. I ordered the grilled steak and it was surprisingly tender and cooked medium/medium rare. You can also specify to have your steak cooked longer (well done/tire rubber).This is not a bad place to swing by for a lunch date or with some co-workers. I cant imagine coming here too often because of the small portion sizes and the high price point, but it would be cool to drop in from time to time.

We went, we tried and no need to go back again.The food looks good but the temperature of the ribs could have been hotter, the Rosemary potatoes had no flavor and the brussel sprouts were undercooked. The cola was flat and to be fair the bottled pellegrino water was good and we got a chillled glass for it. :-)That alone doesnt stop us from giving a place another chance, as any place can have a bad day, but we sat by the window in the back and the area was filthy. Stains on the seats/wall, table was sticky and flies were buzzing in the window. Not where you want to eat you $47 (Inc tip) rib dinner for 2.The positive is the staff was super friendly at the food stations and cashier positions. Unfortunately, that alone wont make us come back. Again, really wanted to like the place based on reviews but its checked off the list and no need to return. Hopefully you have a better experience.

I was happy to find this Urban Plates so close to the sports complex.We were so fortunate to have Margaux take our order She was friendly and helpful with placing our order. (There was another staff member at the counter when we arrived; he did not acknowledge us. Margaux noticed us waiting to place an order and immediately walked toward the counter and waived us over to her register.) Following up from my earlier review from 02/13/2023! Both Joe and Kenton (General Manager) of Urban Plates Irvine followed up with me and sent me a $50 gift card for my next visit. Two days ago, I dined in with my family and ordered the steak salad, osso bucco, and salmon plate. Everything was cooked to deliciousness -- this time, the steak was medium rare as asked for, the lamb was savory (not gamey!), and the accompanying sides (tomato soup, mac&cheese, squash, asparagus) were a HIT with my wife and daughter.Huge thanks for making things right. This is the worst urban plates I have ever visited. The package area looks really messy. I had to wait 20 mins to get my food and they forgot to give me French Fries. I had to head back and wait another more than 10 mins. After I talked to several people finally I got my food. Also the steak tasted odd, tough and not fresh. I will never back here.

I like this place. I had a good turkey meatloaf, roasted potatoes and Brussels sprouts. My friend had a kind of stewed beef dish served over rice and it was tasty, too. Im not usually a fan of this type of place where you serve yourself, but the prices were reasonable, even for this small eater. The atmosphere was quite nice, with room for large groups and smaller parties.

It can get a bit confusing. The staff behind the counter, seemed unfriendly and werent very welcoming. Completely understandable!I loved the way their soup is served!...its NOT dropped into a heat source inside the counter. The steak was the worst meat I have ever eaten. Tasted like a stew meat served cold. Brussel sprouts were either days old or cooked for several hours. Through my experience, the business at this location is under disarray. I downloaded the Urban Plates App a few months ago and ordered a family dinner for pick up. The order arrived incomplete. I called the restaurant and spoke with a gentleman who oversaw the Take-out operation. He apologized and indicated that he left a gift card under my name at the location as service recovery. I went to the restaurant in person to place a take-out order yesterday. When I requested the server to apply the gift card under my name, she was not able to locate it in their system. She didnt smile or appeared to be sympathetic. Instead, she nagged at me for my last order, what was missing, who took the order, how much was the gift card, etc. I attempted to use the store app to locate the last order, but theres no records under the Previous Order. I stood in line for 10 mins. with multiple customers behind me. The server kept staring at me and expected me to solve the issue. She didnt complete the intake of todays order either. I finally told her that as a customer, I should not have to go through this chaos to place a new meal order with a credit. The server kept talking into her earpiece with someone else, instead of communicating with me. I finally walked out of the restaurant with my family member without accomplishing anything. I deal with customers all day in my line of business as well and I felt strongly about my experience at this Urban Plates location. I called the restaurant on my way home and requested to speak with the manager to provide feedback. On the first attempt, a man placed me on hold for an extended period of time after I indicated my intent. I hung up and tried again. On the second attempt, a lady transferred me to the manager, who shared with me that the general manager only works at the restaurant two days a week. I guess yesterday was my unlucky day that he is not there. I politely requested the lady to pass on my contact information to the manager upon his return for a callback. At this point, I have no faith in a returned phone call. Is it too much these days to expect good customer service and a welcoming environment besides just good food at a restaurant? Theres another restaurant location at Irvine Marketplace. With the negative brand image I have now, how likely do you think I will venture to the other locations?

I have eaten here before and liked the food. The before was before COVID and while I understand the need to limit diner exposure to the food I do find that the experience and food is not the same. I dont think it is fair to penalize a restaurant because of COVID but I do feel that the quality of the food was lower than previously.That being said we were a large group and the food arrived quickly, and accurately. The steak meal arrived dry and the bread was slightly stale though not enough to stop anyone from eating it.Overall good but definitely lower quality than pre pandemic.

Love this place. They serve real dinner-fare versus a typical quick counterserve meal (kinda like a chef’s quality version of Boston Market). It is on the pricier side but worth it because the food is high quality and gets you full. I just wish they gave more meat.
