The urban plates, surf and turf is an incredible meal along with probably one of the best chocolate chip cookies Ive had. They were quite busy and ran out of utensils, but they replenished them quickly. There are a few tables that can accommodate five or six but many times they seem to be occupied by a single person and I wish I could change but thats just the way people are. This is a great local place and you should definitely come here because of the food is good and the quality consistent and service at the counter is always very kind. Thanks Kassi for the great experience

You can of dine out on the terrace where they have heaters set up or dine inside where it has more of a cozy atmosphere. We appreciated having Kassi as our server for the past couple of nights we had visited as she had been very attentive to our needs, including my very young childrens. A wonderful experience overall. Got the Beef braise with Mashed potatoes, Roasted old Baked potatoes, huge Chocolate chip cookies, Hummingbird cake and Lemonade. Very cute place with lots of green plants and decorations. Plenty of seating inside. Outside is pretty big and they had a small fire going. The staff was friendly and the prices were Fair. The beef braised with mashed potatoes and rustic style bread was absolutely delicious! So much flavor, nice and hot and the potatoes were made really well. The roasted old baked potatoes were also really yummy, just wish they were served hot (mine were barely warm). The hummingbird cake looks great but its not for me. It was kind of citrus tea flavored with random chunks of pineapple in there and also had a oval chunk of something weird that had a rubber texture to it and I couldnt figure out what it was. Even asked the staff. Theres plenty of parking in their lot

This place was AMAZING! So many yummy options, super fast service, and such a cute atmosphere. The food was delicious and unmatched. I would come here time and time again … wish we had one in Chicago! Bryan and Ryan made sure we had a great experience and were so welcoming to our group of 21 people. The cheeseburger, frankly, is a little weak. But the fries were really good. Kassi gave some good advice to the vegetarians in the group when we ordered, and Jessie hit me with a perfectly poured 805 that was very cold and very fresh - they must go through a lot of it. The plastic plants are lame, but the seating is comfortable and all the wood gives a cozy warm vibe to the place.

This is one of my favorite lunch spots in Thousand Oaks. All organic food and all gourmet. Cafeteria style and the manager is such a nice guy. Everything on the menu is good. My wife and kids love it here also. You have to give it a try.

Awful! Went there for lunch! Not busy at all! Ordered steak and a few sides. Fast service. But when I got the steak, it was cold. So I asked if I can get a new cut. They said yeah sure thing. When I went inside and watched them. They literally just put it back on the grill and heated it up. She gave it back to me and I said no we agreed on a new steak altogether so I went to the front and got my money back. Don’t do a piss poor job and actually doing your job. And don’t lie to customers . They need to hire a staff who actually wants to work properly

Service was VERY slow. Worker was on a very long phone call with a customer placing a very large phone order. The young man didnt even acknowledge us as we stood at the registers, several other employees shuffled back and forth, no one asked if they could help us. We literally stood there the whole time waiting for him to finish taking the order and was shocked that no one stepped in to assist in any way. Especially when you see 2 employees sitting down and 3 other employees in the food area. They werent busy.After about 12 mins or so the cashier finished the call and asked us for our order. He was very nice and apologized for us waiting so long. I ordered the Moroccan Chicken. It was okay, Id give it a 5 out of a 10. No wow factor, but not bad either. I think the bread on the side was the best part of my meal.I really wanted to love this place, especially since it has dairy free options and sustainable food etc. I really wished they had a vegan cake on the menu.

I was visiting from Seattle and my grandmother brought me here for dinner. As we were looking at the menu outside, a very helpful gentleman came out to ask us if we had questions or wanted to taste anything. What a great introduction to their level of customer service. When we went inside the staff allowed me to sample the different items, made great suggestions based on my gluten allergy and intolerance to spicy food. The chicken Cobb was amazing and the fresh fruit drinks are refreshing and healthy choices. Will definitely be back next time I am in town.

From the grass -fed beef to the organic produce to the incredible flavors to the awesome customer service... this is our go-to restaurant when we come from Santa Barbara to LA! This visit was exceptionally great! I am temporarily on a very restrictive diet for health reasons. I had no idea what, or if, I could eat anything on the menu (gluten, dairy, sugar/ sweetener-free). Chef R was amazing! He personally walked me through all of my options and allowed me to look through their nutrition manual to ensure my food choices were safe. Once we finally landed on a safe selection, he cooked my fish on the spot...himself! My fish, roasted potato and brussel sprout meal was delicious, and my hubby loved his roast chicken, beet/root veggie plate too! Chef R even offered to have us call in in advance if we wanted to request allergy free dishes in the future. His enthusiasm for his work and his kindness towards me, who could have been viewed as simply a high maintenance customer, made my night! We cant wait to come back! Thank you, Chef R!!!

I haven’t been here since after the pandemic and was sad to see you now have to order at the register. I missed being able to walk up to the different food stations and see all the choices. First time here and I was highly satisfied. Customer service was on point from the moment we walked inside. A staff member showed us how to order and the menu they had available. I ordered the turkey meat loaf with a side of veggies. The meal was great, I didnt know cauliflower could taste so good until today. I also found the price for the meal very reasonable. It tasted good and filled me up. My friends were also happy with their meals. Will definitely stop on by again.

I ordered the grass fed beef with chimchurri sauce, Rosemary potatoes, beets & carrots. The meal looked good & the vegetables were delicious. However my piece of meat was very difficult to chew & some portions totally unchewable. It looked good & the taste was good but portions were like rubber. Weird.. This was my first time eating here so hopefully just a one-off situation.

We I have been coming here from the very beginning. We have spent thousands of dollars here and have loved the food over the years. We even buy large amounts of sides at the holidays for our whole family. Since Covid, things went really downhill and its just getting worse. Some of the employees are just awful and rude, others are nice but still arent particularly good at their jobs. Our orders are always wrong now days and the food is often cold and looks a bit old. Usually the food it pretty good, but when its not we are so disappointed as we remember the days when it was fabulous. As I said we have been coming here for so long and so frequently that we very much notice the drop in quality and service. We still want to love you guys but PLEASE lets go back to how it was pre Covid with fresh well made food and nice employees. Tonight our whole order was wrong but we didnt know it until we got back home to Camarillo, we are eating it of course but not particularly happy. As sad as it makes us after all this time we may have to stop coming here, and unfortunately a lot of our friends who have loved this spot are doing just that. 😔

I have been ordering from here for a while, but the food hasnt been great recently. The first time I noticed it was about a month back, when I ordered the chicken plate. I normally love their chicken, but it was very gristly, with a lot of fat. Everyone has an off day, so I didnt think too much about it until last night when my husband and I ordered and had it delivered with Grubhub. Unfortunately, the chicken was so gristly that I has to pick through it when eating my salad. Not sure if its related, but my orders used to only come with chicken breast. The past few times they came with dark meat, which I actually prefer, just not when it is so full of gristle and fat that its difficult to eat.

Healthy food, stellar options, lively environment and immaculate flavors. Urban plates never lets me down as a go to spot for food that fresh and filling. My go to is the chimichurri Grass Fed Steak with asparagus and roasted rainbow carrots/beats. I also ordered a side of wild caught Ahi just the protein while my friend ordered the sustainable salmon with asparagus and roasted rosemary potatoes. The steak comes medium easy to bite and filled with flavor and the ahi is always packed with savory flavors yet is never overwhelming. The ahi comes encrusted with a seasoning that combines with the softness of the meat and although it’s cold envelops your mouth just as much as any other meat, chicken or fish. The asparagus is always cooked to perfection and lightly seasoned. The roasted carrots and beats are perfectly charred adding a warm smoky flavor yet still caramelized because of the sweetness of the beets. It’s hard to mess up Salmon and potatoes so they were both also amazing. The prices are $10-$17 a plate but definitely worth it. To drink we got the freshly squeezed lemonade and cantaloupe pineapple mango were around $4-$5 but they offer free refills and are well worth it.

I wish it was possible to leave zero stars. Ive had to order from this place for work for years, and not once have they had the items or prepared them right. I made the mistake of trying them for lunch and they managed to mess up a chicken Caesar salad. It was a handful of cheap romaine ribs, tomatoes that dont belong on a Caesar, and bland, rubbery chicken. The toast was old and chewy and tasted more of oil than bread. The dressing didnt have much flavor and it was a chore trying to force any of it down. As a bonus, it took a long wait. Im not sure about the sandwich I ordered for someone else, but they used the same old rubbery chicken, so Im guessing it was just as bad. Ive had cafeteria food that was better quality, and definitely better value.

I really like this place overall and have eaten here a few times. It’s cafeteria style and you can see the food that you choose for your plate. I like how everything looks and I like the design and decor in the restaurant. That’s important to me. I don’t like spending time in ugly restaurants anyway yesterday I had the steak, mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts with a diet cola. I loved it so much although it was pricey for me.. $18. The guy taking our order was out of it. Ordered chicken, mashed potatoes, and broccoli. The food was not hot, the chicken was rubbery and overcooked and I got the wrong potatoes. The out of it guy scolded another employee right next to our table. The pile of plates at the end of the table we were at were still sitting there when we finished eating. You now order up front verses walking by the food. Preferred the other way. Would not have ordered the chicken I got based on looks alone. Sadly, I will not return.

I have been a loyal customer for a long time, but I am extremely disappointed after my recent visit.I placed an order for pick up and waited in line to pay. Ahead of me were 2 people that spent a long time conversing with the cashiers. Instead of wrapping up the conversations the cashiers continued to talk with the guests ignoring the line starting to form. When one guest finished up, the cashier that was helping her walked to the other register and joined in the other guest’s conversation instead of helping the next people in line.I was not in a rush, and have worked in food service so I understand when guests are chatty; however my food was cold by the time I received it even though I arrived promptly after getting a text it was being bagged. It should have been placed in a warmer instead of sitting on the counter.The part that really upset me is when the guest and both cashiers looked at me and loudly said, “She looks hangry we should probably take her order.” I have never been insulted so openly at an establishment. I did not show I was upset or make any comments regarding the employees standing around talking when there was an open register and a line, so calling me hangry was completely out of pocket. When the cashier finally came over, I told him I placed an order and he walked away while I was talking and did not even let me finish my sentence.Overall, I am disappointed at the rude employees, and my ice cold steak and mac and cheese.

Urban Plates has a cafeteria/restaurant vibe. There is a huge menu outside the front door so, you can decide what you want before you go inside. You order your food at the register, they give you the drinks there and then give you a number to set at the table of your choosing. There is a selection of wine and beer and a station where you get your own water.The vibe here is very earthy! I love all of the plants and succulents all around and at your table. You have an option to sit inside, on the covered patio or under the umbrella seating tables closer to the street.The food is amazing but portion size could slightly improve. I usually get the salmon and beets $16 & the chimichurri steak $18 is really delicious also! Everything is nicely plated and the staff is very friendly.Since urban plates is practically next door to the movie theatre, it is a nice place to have a meal before going to see a Tuesday discount night movie!

To whom it may concern: I came here with my partner mine to dine outside and we spend almost $100 on food. Worst customer service ever. Never again will me and partner be back. We were dining outside to eat and its only 8:55 so waitress decided to lock door on us awhile we stilling dining outside. We knock on door and they wouldnt open door saying that they close. Nobody came to tell us that they were going to close door. Never got to put food in box very disappointment. I will never come back here again. So upset after spend 100 dollar of food and nobody came to inform us that they are close. I never in history have this ever happen to me. Please bring to your staff meeting so wont happen to other. My daughter and I tried Urban Plates for the first time today and were so happy we did! From the moment we entered, we felt welcome. Ryan was so helpful and guided us thru the menu expertly, even letting us sample some of the unique drinks available. We decided on sharing the four up plate, choosing carrots/beats, brussel sprouts, mac and cheese, and the tomato basil soup. It was all delicious and so fresh tasting! Thanks to Chef Sara! Some of the best food Ive had in a long time. Went to the oaks and decided to try out urban plates. My mother got a salad and she said it was the best. No too acidic and not too sweet all balanced. I got this pepperoni pizza on flag bread and it was delicious. As you can see in the pic, I was eating a little too fast to take a picture. I got a kids menu since it comes with a little fruit salad, chips, and a drink. Just saying their organic juices are amazing. Best experience, also a tip so you dont have to ask. Once youre done leave your plates. They pick it up for you, it was kinda embarrassing since I had to ask (I didnt know before).

Urban plates has an organic quaint cafeteria style feel. The food tastes great, the portions are the right size, and they are decently priced. Sandwiches and salads about 10 bucks and a plate with two sides around 14 depending on what you get. They also have a four craft beer flight for 8$. Overall surprisingly good as I have walked by many times and never given it a shot. I think the prices are slightly expensive for vegetarian, but spot on for us carnivores.

I used to come here to the Thousand Oaks location for the Moroccan Chicken Bowl because it was quite good but the last few times have been hit and miss. Mostly miss. Not sure if I will try again. Watered down flavors and lukewarm. Somehow it had a big chunk of tofu in it which isnt even a listed ingredient. Some of the chicken pieces tasted a bit off too. Portion seemed a bit smaller than usual as well. Makes me wonder if they ran out and just dumped some other stuff in to make a portion. Really disappointing. A previous visit it was so much better. Inconsistency makes me not want to go back. At least the service was fast.Updating my review to say management was quite generous about my negative experience . They really do have good healthy food and if something doesnt go right they will go out of their way to fix it. Great service.

I always like this place. I typically order the steak or chicken plates although the sandwiches are very good. Try the deserts as well. They have cookies, cakes and pudding. The salads are also pretty good as well and every season the place will do a chef special or seasonal dish which is always worth trying. Beer and wine is served here as well but not happy hour. The place is really clean inside and out.

I was very disappointed in the recent quality of food from here. The food they served and delivered used to be great! As if it was held to a certain standard, but that doesnt seem to be the case anymore. Recently when I visited the restaurant my burger was undercooked, rare almost raw. Then my past couple delivery orders had expired cake!! And steak that again wasnt cooked properly, and the pieces I was sent looked as if they had gone bad! I understand not every restaurant can keep up with quality control but this seems to be a continuous issue here and that just makes me sad because the food used to be really good. Hopefully the quality starts to improve again but until then I will be skeptical to return.

5/5 for overall experience. The design of the shop is that crisp farmhouse vibe. My sister explained at being aimed at the young adult generation. I got the Blue Cheese Grass Fed Steak. 5/5 It was that perfect medium red that everyone can enjoy. I could cut it with a butter knife. It did not taste the same and we went away somewhat disappointed. A few weeks later we took heart and went back for another try out. And we were not disappointed. Every single time we place a door dash order or call for pickup, the order is wrong. I’m not joking when I say this has happened at least 5 times in a row. I have no idea why we keep coming back, maybe it’s the lack of healthy food for delivery in Thousand Oaks, regardless it’s always wrong. I’m not making this up. You will get well done steak, cold potatoes, warm salad dressing, wilted leaves, etc. And every time we call, they say they are sorry and that they are working on fixing it, and it never gets fixed.
