The mariscos section is almost never stationed with an an employee. And if you get a ticket from ther carniceria and tell them you want seafood they dont even know how to package or ring it up. Its so frustrating.

I really like Vallarta. As a Hispanic male, it has many of the brands I enjoy. I also enjoy its food counter where I like to get carnitas tacos and a mango water. The employees are helpful, friendly. Thank you Vallarta for being there for me. Vallarta Downey, CA.

Place is clean . Best carne Asada in town . I was here on Saturday at 7:30 am . I gave them 2 stars because they had no cashier working “0” cashiers while the 2 managers one of them was “Manuel” just standing in the self check out area . A market full of customers and Manuel told me their cashier came in to work at 9 am . What a bad move not to have not even 1 cashier open .

I was impressed with the cleanliness of the store and freshness of the produce.I was disappointed with the Carne asada though. It was sopping wet, i assume to add weight and cut razor thin. It shrank on the grill to less than half the size. I didnt care for the seasoning which tasted like red pepper. It didnt have the traditional citrus, onion cilantro marinade.

During my last visit to this I had to use the restroom. What a disgusting place that was. Im including a photo. I told an employee to please have someone clean the restroom and he told me that the store does not have a maintenance person. It seems that each department have to do their own cleaning and they do not have a maintenance department. I guess thats the reason why many time you find areas in the store that are dirty. I hope the store reconsider having a maintenance person, because I had to leave the store after finding the restroom in such poor conditions. Some of the organic prices are very competitive and will like to continue to buy there, but keep the store clean :(

Be careful when you buy beer, its always tastes,ut taste bitter, like when you have cold beer and let it warm up,,also stay away from carne alpastor, its not good meat, its more like a dough, its salty and taste really bad,i had to throw 4 lbs of meat away,good place to get Mexican products, great shrimps, good meat cuts

Business as usual. Bad counter service and bad food presentation.*UPDATE: Denise reached out to me immediately and took my complaint seriously. She investigated and addressed every aspect of the service that had failed to meet quality expectations. She made sure to re-train personnel on proportions, food taste & quality. I re-ordered the same food later and was satisfied with a better taste and presentation. Thank you Vallarta for taking care of your customers!Original Review: Very sloppy presentation, drowned in cheese and cream, taste of can sauce. Very bad food quality. There’s no care here.

Excellent grocery store... This Vallarta location is very clean and organized.. the shopping isles are neat and organized. Everything is in place and easy to find... The meat department had fresh meat..I love a store that cares about their appearance and being clean. The food court area is clean, and the food is absolutely delicious, and reasonably priced... not to mention very friendly employees/staffers that service their customers with a smile!!

Be-careful if you decide to buy from the seafood counter. I bought Jaiba to mix with my ceviche. When i got home, there was a rotten smell coming out of the grocery bag. I narrowed it down to the Jaiba, which was rotten. This is a delicate matter, which if consumed, can send you to the hospital. I doubt they have a quality standard they adhere to, since this is the second time this has happened to me, the first was octopus. Be very careful.

I love coming to this market the employees are welcoming and very caring. But in particular today I walked in to grab some lunch and I was greeted with a big smile by Martha she was very helpful. I let her know that I will be eating at the store, so she quickly let me know that she will give me a plate and a fork for my Tamale 😍to accommodate my dining there. She even told me to take a seat, once my champurrado was ready she would let me know. Wow excellent customer service. Two thumbs up Martha keep up the good work!

Mixed feelings:: i feel its pricing is a bit high... the place itself does not smell good. The meat department has odor taking over the whole market.However, they do have a good variety on their produce & even offer organic options. The deli looks good —never tried it though. Love this store, its clean, always has a creative selection of fruits and veggies and lots of vegan options. I give 3 stars because I hurt myself and the manager never seemed concerned. There are small metal poles in the fruit/veggie section and it you are not looking down, you can run directly into them. Thats exactly what happened to me. I was walking and ran my foot and knee into pole really hard. Be ware

Prices are so high up you can visit any other market and get more for what you pay here is ridiculous prices here. Wouldnt recomend it. I dont like the self check up that takes for ever to even give you your total. Walmart self check out is even faster then this one. They dont even want to put many people at the rechesters any more you only see one cashier open. Thats really bad for being a market.

Vallarta has a variety of products including many of different cultures (especially Mexican food). They sell prepared food, natural fruit drinks, a bakery, huge meat department and so much more. It is clean and best of all, you cant beat their prices. I now go here first rather than Albertsons. I save so much more and the quality is just as good if not better.

Great selection of bakery goods, produce, and things you cant get at a normal supermarket. The only thing I hate is that I just do not trust the meat or deli. I got ham the other day and it spoiled in 2 days n smelled disgusting. I bought some pork shoulder and it had such a crazy amount of fat that I only ended up using an 8th of the meat.

This Vallarta gave me a bad experience, stopped by the Deli there were some customers around and no one greeted us. We were standing in front of the order cashier. No customers yet except only 3 of us.The people at the tortilleria looked at us and didnt say if they can help us. I then went by the hot food area and they looked too busy to assist us. Time is of the essence, later 2 guys walked back up to the ordering area where we were before and quickly acknowledge them and by then there were more people that came in and had to wait in a line now. So disappointed...

Very very horrible experience they had 0 grocery bags at this location and wouldn’t accommodate me for using my ebt card which makes me obligated to a bag, I walked 3 blocks to this store and couldn’t carry my food properly, but the thing is after running out of bags they still had temperature bags that they wasn’t willing to offer . This is a major inconvenience and is unacceptable, I paid 5 bucks for the smallest bag they had . Customer service very poor

I tried to order a Breakfast Burrito. The counter women didnt speak any English. So that was the first problem. The 2nd problem was they have listed 2 Breakfast Burritos with no list of what comes in them. The women asked me what I wanted in My Burrito so I told her scramble eggs potatoes and beans and chorizo. Bottom line I had to pay extra for the chorizo, which is not listed nor did I get any. The listed Breakfast Burritos are $7.99I end paying $11.95 because they charged me $2.25 extra for the chorizo. Shame on then. I WILL NEVER GO BACK and I WILL SHARE THIS WITH EVERYONE.

I come in this place a AT LEAST a couple times a week for lunch because I work in a laboratory that is within walking distance. I was very disappointed in the way my transaction was handled today. I purchased some tacos and fruit in the kitchen area. The cashier bagged the fruit but then said I can only pay with cash at that counter. So I said let me pay for the tacos only here, and Ill pay for the fruit at the front register. She then told me to give her back the bag because thats only for things Ive paid for an d to also bring her the receipt when I did. I said EXCUSE ME? Why do I have to do all of that? Because you think Im going to steal $3.00 worth of fruit because Im Black? Or what? Explain.. She barely knew English, she gave me some half ass answer. I truly dont believe she would have said that to anyone else. After I paid for it, I walked up to her (she thinks I was bringing her a receipt, pppfffttt) and asked for her manager. I told him that she treated me like a thief and I expected her to be reprimanded. Im sure she wasnt so Im calling corporate. I will NEVER support this racist business ever again. Wanted to exchange one thing the same day I bought it, since I got it incorrectly. The manager said no since it was alcohol I asked if I can exchange and pay the difference. He was very rude, I emailed customer service and Rick Castillo said they cant do anything. this will be the last time I will be going to any Vallarta Supermarkets. In addition to shopping for Pork Neckbones, Moms also listed Yams, and Green Onions, and a specialty item (Pepper Sauce). She explained that Pepper Sauce is packaged in a thin/tall glass bottle, stuffed with small yellow colored peppers in Vinegar. I give 5 Stars to Vallarta, because they had all items on Moms list, including the Pepper Sauce. The long check out line moved rather quickly, and the Checker was fast and friendly. Notwithstanding, Vallarta is the closest grocery store, they are also the most reliable for Neckbones, Yams, and all fresh Vegetables.

The Fruit Hunter is on the prowl!Vallarta Supermarket is a grocery specializing in Latin cuisine. Great deals, especially on produce, can be had during their Wednesday specials.A little further out than Id care to commute, what led me to Vallarta was their advertised special for mamey sapote.To educate the layperson, mamey sapote is originally from South America, and it is quite a delicious fruit. The texture of an avocado, but with the taste of sweet potato/pumpkin pie. Sometimes, I can even detect hints of honey mixed in. I look forward to mamey season every year, as its one of my favorite fruits. I would buy a tree, but its not very cold tolerant & doesnt produce very well in our area. I know someone in San Diego that has a tree which bears fruit, but thats not the norm with mamey. I do, however, grow the very similar & more cold hardy green sapote, which allegedly tastes even better! Only time will tell if I agree with that assessment.Scanning the other produce available, my eyes spied guanabana, squash flower & mamoncillos, to name a few. A lot more varied selection than regular supermarkets.A fully equipped bakery, meat dept. and deli means customers never go hungry. I was wowd by all the chicharron, in pieces and whole slabs. I bought a package, only to arrive home to find some of the chicharron to be stale. Too bad.Service was good. A few sample stations gave out light bites to taste. The cashier was friendly & efficient. Parking is via a private lot.Despite the small hiccup with the chicharron, Vallarta Supermarket satisfied my quest for mamey sapote. $3.99/lb was a good deal, and I relished my first bite of the season. I make it a habit to check out the weekly deals online to see if a trip to Vallarta is in store.Highly recommend!

First time in a Vallarta super market. I purchase a few items including deli package of carnitas the worse ever dry. I will never go back. If you drive a couple miles more there is (NORTH GATE MARKET) prices at Vallarta outrageous more expensive then north gate or El super for the outrageous prices go to stater bros,ralphs,Vons, even Walmart is cheaper.
