Nice couples date cooking out night here you cook your steak its a cool experience I was pretty surprised but when my boyfriend and I got up there to the grill we enjoyed ourselves together . They also do have other items on menu they cook up for you but not much they difficulty push the delicious steak fun dinner

The ability to make my own steak is what keeps me coming back. I believe the prices are high for a meal you cook yourself because the sides are so basic and never changing.I like the hole in the wall atmosphere this place has.Also karaoke is no longer on Thursdays.

This is a nice casual karoke restaurant and bar, the environment is always entertaining with always having to hear someone singing each time entering this place. The restaurant section is really nice as well, you can cook your own steak and order from their yummy menu. You must order before 9-9:30 PM, before the kitchen closes though. The bar section is alright as well but can be a bit too crowded over the weekends due to the karaoke viewing, there is no karaoke on Sundays. Overall it is a good place to go for casual entertainment 👌

I came here by accident. I was in the area and looking to have a few drinks on the way home from LA. This place doesnt looking much from the outside. Inside, I was surprised. It has that old time charm. It reminds me of the bar in Goodfellas...lol.The bartend was great and very friendly. Gave me some pointers on the menu. The menu is not huge, but has some great options and the prices were reasonable. I didnt eat, but I will need to come back for dinner. This places lets you grill your own steak, should you order one off the menus. Bar tend is dressed with a collared shirt, vest and very formal. The bar is not the biggest in space, but very quaint. They have karaoke on the weekends. It was a pleasant surprise and I will be back for sure.

Been here 2 times and both times have been great experiences. The steaks are of great quality and since you cook them yourselves, you know they will be to your liking! Steak dinners come with a salad and potato with butter and sour cream and a nice sized whole piece of bread. Our last time there the owner Dom came over and talked to us and made us feel very welcome and we will definitely be back again.

Great bar terrific friendly bartender. Good grub as well. Karaoke on certain nights. Outdoor covered patio to get away from the Heat. Mostly an older crowd. Dim lights inside very cozy. The Venice Room is a classic steak house that has been around since the 50s and I dont think the decor has changed since then. But what HAS changed is the menu. We came here for Fathers Day and I am vegetarian so I had already mentally prepared to order from the side dish section as I often do when someone else chooses the restaurant but I was so pleasantly surprised to see vegetarian and vegan options! That I didnt expect! I ordered the impossible burger with grilled onions and mushrooms and I devoured it! SO YUMMY! They also have impossible tacos, party melt and nachos! Yes please! They also have all the steak house classics you would find at most steak houses. Everyone in our party was happy! They also have great drink specials. If youre looking for a no frills, casual steak house, this is the spot.

Not what you expected. It’s a bar, a restaurant, and dyi bbq. We had large group for holiday gathering and the steak orders was cook it yourself. Nice large piece of meat. We cooked and was wonderful. Everyone ate the entire steak. Meal is best deal. Only one salad and six dressings.

Met a friend here for a bite to eat, a couple of drinks and to sing karaoke on a Saturday night. Food was very good, drink prices were normal average for my Jameson on the rocks and my friends Perrier. There were quite a few singers there on that night, but the KJ kept things moving nicely and even with the crowd there,my friend and I both were able to sing 4 songs each, between 7pm and 10:30pm. GOOD TIME!!

My husband and I enjoy hanging out on a Saturday night. We meet new people all the time. The atmosphere is really friendly. No problems nor fights. We go because they have Karaoke night. We enjoy singing as well as listening to other people sing. The bar tenders are really friendly too. I definitely recommend it if you are looking for a place to just hang out Or if you’re looking for a good steak dinner. Done to perfection.

Great local place to have a drink or two, meet up with friends. The cocktails are great, they dont gold back on the alcohol. Theyll prepare your drink the way you like it.Please dont expect a great menu, check the website to view the menu. I personally re commend the steak, it is awesome. You can cook it yourself or theyll cook it for you.

My wife and I were invited by friends to come check this place out for some steaks and our first visit was amazing.She had the 8 oz. New York I had the 12 oz. Ribeye. Both came with all you can eat salad, a french roll for her and garlic bread for me. You get to grill the steak yourself and season it if you like.One of the best steaks weve had and want more!The atmosphere is very pleasant and comfortable, service is great as well. We will be back for more.

The Venice room is the epitome of a solid dive bar with the added bonus of of good service and a grill Your Own steak fun! Honestly, Its a solid dive bar with the usual trappings. Decent karaoke on Friday and Saturday night. Honest drink deals (my last tab for 4 people per round was $45 before tip). A definite deal in LA considering the alternatives. The dinner special...... The New York steak is as relatively good as you can get from a local grocer. Im sure you can procure a finer cut of meat but seriously, its not a bad steak by any means. You cook and season it yourself. The seasonings are pretty standard with Lawreys seasoned garlic salt one of the standard favorites. The salad is standard chopped fair with some carrots and other veggies shredded in. A couple garlic breaded toasted tasty things later and youre full. All in all, a 7 out of 10 for a tasty steak you can cook yourself, strong drinks, and a solid atmosphere. The best part about all of it is that its tasty, AND a good deal.

If I could give this place a ZERO STAR review I would. My husband and I wanted a nice dinner while we were in town and this place was within walking distance which was a huge bonus. When we got there, NO ONE was in the sitting area even though the lot was packed. We rang the bell a few times. We waited a good 20 minutes outside for someone to come out. The TV outside was on, the sign outside and the website said they were open. Finally we saw3 EMPLOYEES AND NONE OF THEM ACKNOWLEDGED US. The one guy was going off about how hes going broke... WELL I WONDER WHY!!! DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE THE TIME OF DAY! HORRIBLE WAY TO TREAT A POTENTIAL CUSTOMER!!!

Venice Room has been in Monterey Park for a very long time. But they have a deal. You can grill your own steak. You can choose steak or rib eye. Then they give you a baked potato, a roll & unlimited salad. Its all for a reasonable price. And they have a bar. Fun Place.

The service was horrible. We were a party of 9 so we sat outside which wasn’t a problem till we found out it was only 1 waiter for the outside. We got there at 7 and ate at 9. We couldn’t go inside and get our drinks our poor waiter had to do that and that was forever. Our waiter was very polite and trying his best. Shame on management to overwork they’re employees. It will be a long while before I go back...

Today was my first time there. The Meat is perfect, the place is clean and nice, I love the idea of cooking the meat ourselves. Everything was Perfect until an old, flirty Waitress came asking us (in a very bad way) for MORE TIP, she wanted 10% of what we paid... so I was thinking, a few years ago we used to give TIPS because of their services or Just because We liked the way they treated us. But Now is not for Gratitude, even though we cook our food, and the waitresses only appear Once, we are obligated to give TIP and certain amount.......... so Here is my TIP for all that kind of people: if you want to deserve a TIP, you HAVE to earn it.. Here is the definition of the word TIP: a small present of money given directly to someone for performing a service or menial task; gratuity.

This place is a must stop. Been around since 1955, a true throw back in the best sense. Staff is older, knows stuff and knows how to take care if people. Steve the bartender is as old-school as it gets. And I think her name is June, is a cocktail waitress extraordinaire. And its the home if cook your own steak! How can you not love this place! Its like your in the Goodfellas movie.

Recently sold to new ownership. Great karaoke spot, Ive been told the steaks are excellent. The crowd is definitely on the older side. If youre not pushing 40, you shouldnt come here to meet anyone.

Awesome dive bar in the San Gabriel Valley where you grill your own steak at the grill. For only $12.95 you get a 12oz steak, endless salad bar, roll, and baked potato. If youre not as hungry you can get an 8oz for $8.95. They have a communal grill and a seasoning tabl where you can add salt, pepper, garlic salt, etc. They keep the grill on the highest heat setting so watch out, the outside of your steak might be cooked but the inside might be undercooked.Overall, such a great find! Will definitely be back!

Grill your own steak! We each got the ribeye steak dinner which includes salad, garlic bread, and a baked potato. The salad is pretty much self-serve shredded iceberg lettuce, purple cabbage, carrots, and your choice of dressing. The baked potato is already cooked and served warm. You get to grill both the garlic bread and steak. They have a selection of seasonings next to the grill.

Dont like how the men have their own restroom and the women have to share their bathroom with men. Mens bathroom was empty and a drunk man wouldnt use it, he had to use the women/mens restroom 🚻. PLEASE, Give the women back their restroom, with two stalls!

The steak was good but the vibe felt off. The bartender talked about us when we walked in, said something about the characters that come in on a Tuesday to a drunk patron that wasnt even listening to him. The waitress took forever to refill water and cash us out. This establishment is for the in crowd clearly I wasnt one of them.

I decided to take my bf here for date night after reading an article about this place on EatrLA. Thought it would be an unique experience. I wont go out of the way to come back though.:: Service::A+! The manager was super nice and welcoming, him and our server made sure that we got everything that we needed.::Food::They only serve one entre which is steak with a side of baked potato, bread and salad. I think it was $15? Theyll give you a plate with raw meat, you get to season and grill it on your own. There are several seasoning to choose from and the grill is super hot so they cook pretty quickly. We also grilled our breads with some garlic and butter :9 The quality was ok but we cant complain because its a bar and we were here for the experience.Side note: People joked about how we paid to cook our own food. If you had KBBQ, JBBQ or shabu shabu then that means you paid to cook your own food too :P

The original owner ( husband only, wife passed) is there every nite, say hello to you steak, potato, salad always fresh. Very nice size steak, drinks are at a good price too. Full bar, dark room, karaoke 3 nights a week. For me its a throwback, red booths, old fashions, day drinking, its like the red fox room in SD. Cant blame the chef on how the state is cooked because you grill it yourself at the fire pit. You get your steak (hint:remove fat before cooking); a salad plate (you get your salad boy); and, a roll - cant splurge too much with A-1 sauce because you only get a tiny soufflé cup. This Wednesday at 12:30 I went for lunch with a friend to this place. This place is is awful specially with Steve the bartender. He is rude, and unprofessional. Hope management take a closer look at Steves manner/personality towards clients. I would never go back because I felt uneasy and unconfortable with his awful service.

A dive bar located in Mpk called Venice Room? You cant help but wonder what the heck is this place about? Ample parking surrounds the bar, you walk inside and you instantly see RED.Couches are red and patrons are drunk! They apparently only serve one set signature meal : Steak, potato and cold slaw. I was hoping for some bar food but i dont think they have a kitchen only. Grills on the other side of the room and a full blown juke box. I believe they have karaoke nights unfortunately (or fortunately) we didnt hear anyone belt out anything.Service here is particularly slow, might be because they seemed to have this extremely Venice-like vibe. I heard someone was celebrating coming out of jail and another group celebrating a company party?Fair enough, a eclectic mix of people..thats all I can say!

For $15, you get unlimited trips to a lettuce and dressing only salad bar, a raw 14oz steak, a baked potato, and a dinner baguette as big as your steak. Once you get your steak, you can take it to the grill where there is an assortment of spices for you to season your raw piece of meat. When youre meat is all seasoned, use one of the tongs to put your slab of meat on the grill. For those that arent savvy grillers, make sure your meat doesnt burn on the outside while still raw on the inside. Keep an eye on your steak as the grills temperature is not adjustable. There are no instructions as to how long you should cook your steak to get the perfect medium rare or medium well. So for the newbie grillers, I wish you luck!You also get two packets of butter and a cup of sour cream for your potato. If you want more, the menu charges $0.25 each. Im not sure if they actually charge it since it seems ridiculous to charge a quarter just for a small packet of butter.Once your steak is done, you can take it back to your seat to enjoy. I ended up having to take my steak back for a second trip because the inside was still too rare for my taste.
