My husband and I were visiting Santa Cruz and stopped in to a local bar and the bartender told us we absolutely MUST go to Vim. We followed their advice and celebrated our one year wedding anniversary with them (a little early, as we are flying back home on our actual anniversary) and this place was INCREDIBLE. If you’re only in Santa Cruz for a day you absolutely MUST come to vim. From start to finish the meal, service and atmosphere was impeccable. The chef /owner of the restaurant is an absolute magician when it comes to making meals. The food was incredible. To start, we were given a complimentary glass of champagne for our anniversary and a special menu that said “happy anniversary” on top. It was a small and special touch but my husband and I were so taken back by the kind gesture. We then got the seasonal salad, which was also unique and delicious. My husband got the chorizo fettuccine and it was melt in your mouth good. I got the filet mignon and I think I will be dreaming about that meal for years to come. We finished our meals with the pumpkin roulade and it was CHEFS KISS AMAZING. This place is worth every penny. The cocktail/wine pairings for our meals were also top notch. The caravedo’s new groove cocktail was so unique and well done, I wish I could get the recipe and make it at home. 10/10 would recommend you stop in at Vim. They pull out all the stops and make you feel so welcome. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Excellent experience all around! Served at the bar, SO had the filet mignon and I had mushroom butternut lasgna. It was a spiritual experience 🤣. No but seriously, it was. Met Eric who owns the restaurant with his wife, the chef (didnt catch her name). Go here, great people too!

Im not usually a fancy food person because I generally dont think that expensive food tastes several times better than normal food despite costing several times as much. The food at Vim justifies its price though. Everything that we got was absolutely perfectly cooked in a way that I have never experienced at a lower quality restaurant, so it was worth what we paid for it (in particular the entrees). This place doesnt have the most formal/high brow atmosphere, but thats probably appropriate for the Santa Cruz crowd, and the servers were very nice and attentive. They dont allow substitutions, but they do ask for allergy info up front when making a reservation

We had such an amazing dinner and dining experience at VIM. Our server, Erik, was on top of it.We had ordered scallops but they later let us know they didn’t have anymore. They comped another dish of our choice for us. Totally unexpected and not necessary, but greatly appreciated.They even personalized the menu for my friend’s birthday and had a decadent chocolate/brownie cupcake with a candle for her.We indulged on some of the best tasting dishes in Santa Cruz:- butter charcuterie- semolina fries- balsamic steak- pork tenderloin- strawberry churroLibations:- Pineapple Cilantro Cooler- Twenty Minute Mondays

We were curious about the food and dessert here for a long time. Today finally got a chance and came by. It seems they have seasonal menu. We ordered pineapple guava pork belly, chocolate bread pudding, mushroom fettuccini. All taste good! And the cucumber lemonade is also excellent. We would like to come back and try their cocktails next time.

Vim’s is one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in California. My server Eric was so attentive and caring, he even called us before our reservation to ask for the birthday persons name and put it on the menu! He consistently checked in to make sure we were doing good and it really felt like he cared about us.The entrees, probably the best entrees I’ve had in a very long time, the pork tenderloin was so moist and cooked to perfection, the whole plate was. Every bite I took I couldn’t get enough of it. The pasta was right there with the pork tenderloin, everything was just amazing.Not to be repetitive, but the dessert was delicious, the strawberry churro was just perfect and the dark chocolate caramel filled cupcake just melted in my mouth. it wasn’t even on the menu, and they threw it in for free for my birthday, I couldn’t ask for better food or service for my birthday dinner. Vim’s is a top competitor for any restaurant in California with great portions, top of the line entrees and desserts, and amazing service. I’m willing to visit Santa Cruz again just for their food. Highly recommend this place!

We just had an exceptional dining experience at VIM. We highly recommend this restaurant. Everything was so delicious and beautifully decorated. I loved all the different China tea cups.

This place was delicious! I would highly recommend! I’m usually skeptical of pork tenderloin being dry and over cooked, but these are sous vide and we’re perfect! The short rib was amazing and both had great sides and sauces! The desserts were amazing!

The food is really good. Not just Santa Cruz good but all of America good.All the flavors have that perfect New American taste. You know? The complex blend of sweet, savory, sour, and hints of char or bitterness where it just hits just right, topped with something crunchy but still blends well, be it the entree or desserts… where you’re confident you can never recreate it at home.The honey butternut squash burrarta was perfect.I loved the steelhead. Perfectly medium cooked with such a nice sauce. And the sunchokes on the side were cooked crispy outside soft inside perfectly. And wow, the aioli sauce was amazing as well. Perfectly salted.I live 500 miles away, but I’ll be back soon.

My fiancee and I love this place! Chef Jess is phenomenal, and the staff is always super friendly. On our last visit, my fiancee and I actually proposed to each other. We cannot recommend Vim highly enough!!
